    Greek potatoes

We finally had the chance to try The Greek Bar, and we absolutely loved it! We were regulars at Tarbouch for years, so we were sad to see it close. When we learned this restaurant would still offer the same style of fresh Mediterranean cuisine, we couldn't wait to give it a try. The décor is subtle, tasteful, and fits the atmosphere perfectly. We sat at the bar, enjoyed chatting with the staff, and were lucky enough to meet the owner, Daphne, during our visit. Everything we ordered was fantastic! We especially loved the Pikilia, the Greek-style fried chicken, the Greek potatoes, and the chicken skewer. To top it all off, we finished with the baklava, which was fresh, perfectly moist, and absolutely delicious. The food was outstanding, and Daphne and her team made us feel so welcome. If you haven't been to The Greek Bar yet, what are you waiting for?

Better late than never! I came here for Easter Sunday and it turned out to be a wonderful dining experience. I'm a sucker for Greek food, but I also know the difference between good Greek cuisine and the mediocre versions you sometimes find. Thankfully, this was firmly in the first category. We started with the Skordalia, a whipped potato dip that I had never tried before. It was as creamy as hummus but as comforting and savory as mashed potatoes and the warm grilled pita took it to the next level. Next came the grilled octopus, which was cooked perfectly. It was incredibly tender with none of the chewiness that can often ruin an octopus dish. The accompanying sauce tied everything together beautifully without overpowering the seafood. For our entrées I ordered the lamb special, while my partner chose the lamb skewer. Both were outstanding and easily some of the best lamb dishes we've had at any restaurant in Austin. The meat was flavorful, tender and expertly prepared. To round out the experience, the service was attentive without ever feeling intrusive and the restaurant itself strikes a great balance between cozy and stylish, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Overall, this was an excellent meal from start to finish. I'll definitely be back, perhaps to check out happy hour or brunch next time.

Super cute spot that I had been wanting to try for a while! Lovely decor inside for a date night and large patio outside good for group dinners. They even have merch here! Service was helpful and attentive. All of the food and ingredients looked and tasted fresh and were cooked perfectly. I tried the whipped potato dip which was good, mostly just tasted like a thicker mashed potato served cold. The pita was warm and perfect. Loved all of their pickled veggies. The avgolemono soup was like a warm hug for my insides. So so yum, would definitely come back for this. Was perfect on the rainy day we came in. I also tried the chicken skewer with rice. The chicken was cooked so perfectly, although a little too much of a smokey taste for my liking, but was still good. The tzatziki was great, but didn't love the orange sauce it came with. The rice was awesome! There's a good amount of parking next to the building. Will be coming back to try more!

I really enjoyed dining at The Greek Bar and was surprised I hadn't discovered it sooner. My boyfriend and I decided to check it out while looking for an early dinner spot on a Saturday evening, and we were pleasantly impressed from the start. The waitstaff were extremely attentive and welcoming--two men and one woman--and made us feel comfortable right away. One of the male servers took the time to walk us through much of the menu, thoughtfully explaining the different dishes, which we really appreciated. We started with a shareable appetizer: the pick-three dips with pita. The portion came with plenty of pita, and we chose the eggplant dip, a split pea-based dip, and a whipped potato dip. While all were good, the whipped potato dip was my favorite--it was unique and especially delicious. For my entrée, I ordered the vegetable skewer. The presentation was beautiful, and the dish was very flavorful. It also came with pickled vegetables, which added a nice balance. My boyfriend ordered a shrimp dish that was more stew-like; he mentioned the tomatoes tasted very fresh and really enjoyed it. Overall, the meal was filling, well-portioned, and reasonably priced. We'll definitely be coming back.

Met a friend for brunch around 11:00 AM on a beautiful Saturday morning. Sun shining and loving the warmish mornings. Small place easy to access, get there early! Or better yet make a reservation from their website. We were able to seat outside half way under the covered patio, I'm giving a 4 because of the pesky flies/bees which I know they have no control over but maybe a few bug zappers wouldn't hurt. Started off with a Mimosa, then added the Melitzana, roasted eggplant like a course dip with fresh pita bites & pickled vegetables, so yummy. I ordered the Avgolemono Soup, extra creamy with egg and delicious. It was really good. My friend ordered the Aegean Omelette, wow that was a plate full of deliciousness. Our server was very attentive, kept our water glasses full, and made sure we had extra pita for our dip. Highly recommend, will be returning for dinner service.

I was here for a group dinner and had a nice time. We shared the skordalia dip. If you like garlic, you'll love this dip! I ordered the Greek Style Fried Chicken and it was great. It was crispy on the outside and tender and juicey on the inside. The veggies underneath were really good as well. Another guest ordered the chicken skewers and they really enjoyed it. I had the Greek Isles mocktail and it was really refreshing and tasty. The other drinks looked very pretty as well. We sat inside but I think it would be nice to sit outside next time during the fall months. If you're nearby, hop in for a bite! Service was top notch also!

Fantastic food, cocktails, and service. You can park here, they're attentive, and the food is absolutely perfect. Beyond food I loved the decor, vibe, and how happy everyone that works here obviously was.

A great neighborhood spot for awesome Greek food! I'll start with service, courses came out with perfect timing. Servers were very friendly and eager to please. Service was a 10/10! For food, we had the "pick 3" spreads and all were outstanding. The split pee spread was a nice surprise and the pita was warm and delicious. The stand out dish for me was the sea bass, topped with spinach and served with chimichurri sauce. The fried chicken was also good, a little salty for me, but the vegetables served below the chicken were outstanding. I absolutely loved the baklava! It's my fav treat, I served it at my wedding. This baklava was up there with that. I cannot wait to come back for brunch!

I live really close to Greek Bar and was excited to try it. I want to say: The service was decent, the place is cute and the vibe is really nice. However, the food was just a miss. We ordered the feta dip, Kalamari, chicken skewer & spanakopita. The feta dip is the only thing that didn't come out cold to the touch :(. The kalamari was bad, tasted rubbery and the fried outer layer was soft, the chicken skewer and rice was lacking flavor but also just freezing. We waited 45 minutes for the chicken to come out and there were only 3 other tables in the building, and again when it came out it was freezing. It was all genuinely so bad. I'm not sure why our experience was so off compared to others that have reviewed but it was disappointing to say the least.

My #workwife and I had a late Sunday supper at The Greek Bar, and it was the perfect spot for a girl dinner fueled with cheese, dips, wine... and a little protein. The Greek Bar is a caaayuuuute little cafe-style restaurant with a covered patio, quaint interior, sexy bar... great for said GNO, date, or solo dinner. We started with a pick-three spread: We got the eggplant, tirokafteri (whipped feta, roasted peppers), and skordalia (garlic, whipped potato, almond). The skordalia was a lovely surprise! With a big bottle of red, we needed to pair it with some cheese, so we ordered the saganaki (pan seared kefalotyri cheese dressed with a grilled lemon, oregano, and metaxa). And for some added protein, lavraki-a whole grilled mediterranean sea bass, with wild greens, a healthy dressing of lemon and EVOO. Would def go back.

We had this restaurant on our radar as we have seen many posts on social media about it. The vibe is pretty good, more casual in real life than how it seems on social media but still excellent. The service is pretty prompt and our waiter was pretty attentive. The drinks are pretty strong. I ordered the mayan muse and was happy with it. We ordered 3 spreads for starters and the tirokafteri was the best. We had the chicken skewer and the moussaka for entrees and they were equally delicious and we ended up sharing. Baklava was so crisp and nice for dessert. We met the owners and had a little chat with them. Super nice people

Tried a new Greek restaurant in Austin, hoping it would become a great neighborhood go-to since it's so close to home--but unfortunately, it didn't live up to expectations. We ordered takeout, which turned out to be a mistake. The portion sizes were shockingly small, and one of the sides that was supposed to be included was missing entirely. We called to share our concerns, and while the manager did offer a 50% refund, it didn't quite make up for the disappointing experience--our dinner plans were pretty much ruined. Wont me coming back

Nice patio, tables inside, and decent size bar. There is parking but when we left at 7 there was no parking and a guy was asking for our spot. They do have happy hour til 6 but skip the alcohol on it, their regular priced drinks were way better. Food overall is decent must like feta because everything has feta on it. We started off with the happy hour trio, happy hour lamb kefta and the salad. Salad was light and had a great vinaigrette on it. The split pea dip was actually my favorite and I ordered the eggplant one. The trio does not give enough pita so a second round was ordered. Lamb kofta was actually really good and I'm not even a lamb eater. My table mate said she could have eaten like 6 of those. Octopus was my favorite of the meal. The mousska gave me shepards pie vibes and the feta brined chicken had a mild taste of feta. You could taste it but it didn't overpower it and it was fried so you really can't go wrong. The sides are definitely not something to skip, the wild greens are so simple with lemon and olive oil but so tasty and makes you feel healthy, our server told us the Lima beans are an underrated side and she was right, they were so good and those crispy potato's were perfect blend of crisp and garlic. For dessert the doughnuts were a surprisingly good with honey and nuts. We all said they were a favorite. I love baklava so also very good just wish they were bigger. I'm not a Greek yogurt fan but it was a crowd pleaser. They loved the currants and dates and were even dipping the doughnuts in it.

I was glad we were seated outside though because even though it was a warm evening, their fans were very effective creating a constant gentle breeze. The music enhanced the experience with a fun and upbeat vibe. I truly felt like was sitting at club/bar/restaurant during a cool summer night in Greece! Just incredible. The staff were also great! Friendly and accommodating from the time we checked in for our reservation. Our server was super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful with my gluten sensitivity! The food was delicious too. Shout out to the chefs! The village salad (also reminded me of a traditional Greek village salad) was refreshing, the hot honey halloumi was like nothing I have ever tasted before, I regret not ordering extra to-go!, the Lamb chops made me feel like we were celebrating Easter - the seasoning was spot on and cooked to perfection, the Lamb and beef kefta with rice was also tasty, but the lamb chops are the clear winner. Don't forget to get dessert! If you have a gluten sensitivity like me, you are safe with the Pistachio Panna Cotta. It was a flavor high I didn't want to end! Lol. But seriously, it was super delicious, sweet, and just the right portion. Also FYI: we shared every plate. It's the way to go there, and I'm glad our server recommended that we order everything up front and they simply bring it out as each plate is ready. (Except for dessert and drinks - order those at the appropriate times of course). Speaking of our server, Lauren S, she was on it!!! Not only was she able to serve us and other tables extremely well, there was also a very large party of around 15 people next to us that she also served. Yet she always seemed to be around when you needed her and always with a friendly smile and positive attitude. Shout out to Lauren!!! You were amazing. Thank you for making our anniversary dinner memorable. Can't wait to visit Aba again!

The indoor space flows nicely with the outdoors and feels trendy and polished without being overly formal. Parking is the typical South Congress challenge. Plan ahead or use rideshare if you can. Service was great--attentive and smooth throughout our meal with two adults and two kids. We ordered the whipped feta spread (excellent with the pistachios and oil; the house bread was a bit salty), Brussels sprouts (cooked perfectly), grilled chicken kebabs, the shawarma-spiced steak frites, and the grilled Branzino. The Branzino was the clear star of the show--flavorful and well-executed. The chicken and steak were mediocre at best. For dessert we shared the sticky date cake, which had a nice crunch outside and was warm and moist inside. It's a bit pricey (we paid over $240 for the four of us), but the setting, strong service, and that excellent Branzino make it worthwhile. I'd definitely come back.

The food did take about 20 minutes to come out- I wasn't going to complain as there was a line of people the whole time so I could tell it was busy, but when I did get my food they apologized for the wait and gave me some free baklava so even if there had been hard feelings that would have 100% fixed it lol I'm a huge baklava fan and had actually been considering adding some onto my order but didn't because of the long line! So service was great, but most importantly- the food! The kibbe wrap was huge; I managed to finish the whole thing but in two different sittings lol. The kibbe was generous, and the pieces were flavorful and juicy. The veggies were fresh and crisp, and the whole thing was lightly sauced but the flavor of the kibbe popped enough that I didn't think it needed more sauce. Delicious and I would 100% order again. Plus the (free!) baklava was top notch! Sometimes you get the ones where the filo dough is a little tough/chewy and it still tastes great but the texture isn't there- not with this baklava! It was tender, delicious, and a perfect end to the meal. Parking was limited on the street but I believe the Triangle has garages also- I was able to snag a short term parking spot for MezzeMe which is actually why I originally decided to check it out!

They were fresh, light, and packed with amazing taste. I ended up eating the whole thing right away because they were just that good. I also ordered the fried dill pickles, which are another personal favorite of mine. They were perfectly fried and full of flavor. One thing I've noticed every time I visit is that the restaurant is always busy, which says a lot. It's clear that many people love their Mediterranean menu, and after eating here multiple times, I completely understand why. I also enjoyed sitting outside at the Hill Country Galleria--it's a great atmosphere to relax and enjoy your meal. I highly recommend Artemis Mediterranean Grill if you're in the area. The food is delicious, the menu has something for everyone, and it's definitely a place I'll keep coming back to.

Seemed like she was the only one working there. It was freezing. There was a couple I clocked at another table. Didn't think anything of it. We were so cold (asked our server if the temp could be adjusted and she said she'd ask) I went to my car and got my mom a jacket and my daughter and I shared a beach towel inside. On my way back in, the couple I'd seen were outside, and the guy saw what I was carrying and said, "we moved outside. It's an icebox in there!" It was 98 degrees outside. That was what they decided was better. Got a tomato and cucumber salad. Enormous pieces. Very bizarre. Like Game of Thrones for a giant pieces. Knife needed on every piece multiple times. Also the tomato was a colorless, flavorless cheap, giant basic tomato. No pretty grape tomatoes, or heirloom or anything. It was pricey. I brought it home to feed the deer. My daughter wanted fries and I was worried about how hot they'd be...no need! The place was so cold they chilled before we got them. And the space was nice; could do a nice happy hour there, except for the music. 80's rock. We ate in the freezing cold to "Final Countdown" and "Tom Sawyer". It was cold and a competition! Won't be back. Food was okay. Space was cold and ambiance was just stupid. If you want to spend 17 dollars on a plate, go elsewhere.

We spent around $600 with tip and fees for 5 (mixed grill, two apps, two drinks each); and while the food was delicious the meats were luke warm not piping hot, our server while very friendly was not the best at giving suggestions (basically she said everything is good lol) and wasn't able to split the check 2/3 and 1/3 instead of 50/50 ("... I don't know how to do that"), and the cocktails while tasty didn't really feel special enough to be $21-25 each. It was a very enjoyable experience I just don't know that it lived up to the price tag. For that price I'm looking for exceptional not just very good. That being said the food was delicious! Pricey but pretty good portions. The server said the mixed grill was good for around 4 people, but with two apps it was actually a little too much food for the 5 of us. Mixed grill ($220): -Rosewood Wagyu Strip and Lamb Chops: tie between these two for the best dish; they were both juicy and tender and the sauces were delicious. Not served piping hot but they were so good I didn't really mind. -Harissa Marinated Beef Tenderloin: great flavor- a tad dry. -Spiced Lamb Kefta: also dry, I liked it best with the yogurt sauce. -Red Pepper Chicken Thigh: delicious, one of my fav kabobs. -Herb & Garlic Shrimp: tasty and not overcooked -Charred King Trumpet mushroom: loved the veggie option! they mushrooms were substantial and the sauce was great. -Crispy Shallot Hummus: very good- loved the crispy shallots in particular! -Manti Dumplings: top app- I would 100% order this again the dumplings were delicious and the sauce/yogurt on top of them was the best, we wiped up every drop with the pitas! -The pita bread was hot, fresh, and delicious and our service kept on offering more, so I don't know if they've changed their policy but my experience was not the same as reviews that said only one pita per person. We refused extra pitas 3 times I think! Cocktails- everything we tried was quite good, but again there wasn't the pizaz or just 'blown away by the flavor' to feel that the crazy price was totally justified. We tried: Spanish G&T (very refreshing- don't chew on the juniper berries lol), Banana Bread Old Fashioned (pretty good even for someone who doesn't much like whiskey!), Bonfire on a Beach (fun, smokey, love the harissa on the side), Peach Martini (teensy bit sweet for me but good). The manager stopped by a few times to check on us and our server was very attentive. She did give us good service its just for the high price I would expect some more detailed suggestions on drinks, being able to split the check other than 50/50 (or at least ask someone instead of just saying 'I don't know how'). It was friendly and enthusiastic service just not 'wow this truly is fine dining' service. Outside of the restaurant, parking is a bit of a pain but that is normal for down town. We parked at the Laz garage half a block away- $8 for 2 hrs instead of the $27 for valet.

In Austin visiting and being from Buffalo and having a Greek family I wanted to get some Greek…read morefood. No Yia Yia around so I had to go out and find a place. Well after looking at several restaurants on yelp I found that most restaurants were Mediterranean but more middle eastern than Greek. Until I saw Opa. Well my wife and I gave it a shot. And we were pretty well pleased. We had a Greek salad where all the ingredients were super fresh with a nice pita bread and a grape leaf and a 2 nice pieces of feta. I also had a chicken gyro. Again all super fresh veggies filled the pita wrap and very tasty chicken. They had outdoor seating for our dog who was our dinner guest. But you have to order inside. Which I did. The person who took the order was busy but did a great job. We asked for a couple of large glasses of water with lemon and she promptly took care of us. There were small glasses out on the table but we wanted large ones cus we didn't want to keep walking inside. No problem. Food arrived after a short while and was delicious. They have a nice parking lot however getting in and out can be a little bit crazy when you have everyone from Austin rushing home. Had to wait a long time to get to exit the parking lot cus not one Texan driver would give us a break and let me in the exit lane. Next time I see a Texas license plate in New York I will remember that. But I will still give them a break.

Parking was a bit of a challenge but was able to park on the curb out front. Once inside, we placed our order at the counter and pre-paid and were given a number. They have an extensive menu with traditional Greek dishes and all-day breakfast options. As well as a full bar offering aromatic coffee, hand-crafted cocktails, fine wine, and a selection of local and international beers. The restaurant was busy we were able to place our order in a timely fashion. I opted for a cocktail along with lentils and rice and added chicken as the protein. There was indoor and outdoor seating available. After ordering, we sat outside in the most cozy and intimate outdoor seating area. Unfortunately, after waiting 30+ minutes, we never received our food. When we checked at the counter, the interaction felt pretty condescending, staff insisted the order had already been brought out even though we never received it and still had our number with us. At that point we had to cancel the order so we wouldn't miss our show. I do appreciate that they offered a full refund without issue, but overall the experience left us disappointed, especially with how the situation was handled.

The hardwood ceiling and the glass window in front of me seemed to amplify sound from every direction. I was with a group of six men, and none of us could hear each other. As the noise increased, every table seemed to raise its volume just to communicate, and it became painful. The food had a BBQ flavor, which was different for Mexican food. Some people may like that, but it was not what I expected. It was 4 star food. I think sitting outside would probably be much better.
