Vanilla ice cream
Dora S.

We tried a few pasta dishes here and had a bit of a mixed experience. We ordered the rigatoni, cacio e pepe, and a ragu pasta. The cacio e pepe, which seems to be one of their most popular dishes, was unfortunately the most disappointing for me. It lacked flavor, and the pasta itself didn't feel particularly special or memorable. On the other hand, the rigatoni really stood out. It was creamy and comforting, and the addition of fried onions completely transformed the flavor profile in the best way -- such a unique and delicious touch. This dish was easily my favorite of the night. The ragu pasta was also very well done. The sauce was rich, unique, and full of flavor, and the pork ragu was especially delicious. One small note across all the pasta dishes: I wish the pasta had been cooked a bit less so it could be more al dente. For dessert, we had the vanilla ice cream, which tasted more like sweet cream or heavy cream rather than a distinct vanilla flavor. Overall, there were some standout dishes alongside a few misses, but definitely some creativity happening in the kitchen. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice, wish the lighting was dimmer. The service was quick and helpful! I would be back to get the rigatoni vodka pasta again!

It is clear that Juniper serves high quality food. Everything was cooked well; however, I was honestly underwhelmed by the experience. The crispy potato, although beautiful in presentation and cooked with precision, was seriously lacking flavor (in both the potato and the cheese it came with). The rigatoni alla vodka was perfectly cooked; nevertheless, I wasn't crazy about the dish. It was good, but not something I would order again. I'm super curious on how their cacio e pepe tastes though! Ambiance is moody & modern. Great for date night or a fancy night out with the girls.

First off the service was amazing! The kitchen is open so you can see where your food is being made. The restaurant was very clean and intimate. The alla vodka was absolutely delicious. I would pass on the puffy potatoes. It is a little pricey but I would definitely come back here for a special occasion!

This restaurant was pretty and the ambiance was nice. We started with the puffy potatoes and the hamachi carpaccio. The puffy potatoes were surprisingly good! The inside was filled with soft mashed potatoes and the sauce that came with it was light and creamy. The hamachi wasn't really worth it. It came with 2 small slices. I wouldn't recommend this. For pastas, I would recommend the rigatoni a la vodka. It has a little bit of spice to it and was cooked perfectly Al dente. If you don't like Al dente, you might not enjoy this dish but a few of my friends who don't particularly enjoy Al dente pasta really enjoyed this dish. Next, the pork ragu was very meaty and a bit salty. Still good but not my favorite.

What an interesting spot. Right off the main road, the entrance is a little hard to find because the door is large and the handle isn't a normal door handle. Right when you walk in it takes a moment for your eyes to adjust because it's very dark. The space is intimate and has an open area with the chefs behind the seating area so you can somewhat see them cooking meals. Service was great. Very attentive and knowledgeable. Recommended an app and a main course due to small serving size. The salmon I had was amazing. Great flavor! The tuna app was super tasty as well. Very nice place

4.5 stars I feel like this spot deserves five stars but it's tough because I don't feel like I got the full experience - so four for now. We sat at The Chef's counter which was super fun because we got to see the chefs prepare everything in live action. We ordered off the à la cart menu: Puffy Potato ($13) - 6 puffy potato sticks straight out of the fryer. They were a savory cheesy delight and were crispy fried on the outside with a creamy interior. The Dijon whipped dip served with it was a bit too strong for me. Rigatoni ($25) - so amazing. The best dish we tried. The noodles seemed freshly made and were delightfully chewy. The vodka tomato sauce was extremely rich and had a lot of depth, flavor wise. Hamachi ($18) - the hamachi was complemented with a delicate yuzu taste and crunchy pistachios, but it was so small, more like a nibble. The staff were very polite and attentive. In short I definitely want to come back and try the tasting menu because it looked amazing and then I will probably update my review to a five star. The interior is dark stylish and sophisticated - small valet parking lot adjacent to the restaurant.

Cacio e Pepe

This high-end Italian restaurant is pure beauty from the minute you step in the door until you take your last bite of food. An incredible blend of concrete, steel, and other elements give the architecture and decor an industrial feel with accents of furnishings, lighting, and accessories to bring softness and warmth to the building making for an enjoyable and relaxing atmosphere. Open kitchen in the center of the restaurant where you can watch everything that goes on whether seated in the dining area or at the chef counter. The elevated Italian fare reminds me of higher-end restaurants and eateries throughout Italy. Everything is carefully curated to bring the best flavors possible to each and every dish. My boyfriend took me to dinner on my birthday and they sent me home with a gift! A bag of their house-made pasta and a tin of their specially blended Italian seasoning. This is the perfect place for any type of celebration meal, or to gather with friends and family, or to just treat yourself. Service was impeccable. I wish I could give Juniper ten stars.

Two weeks ago my family came in last minute for a late dinner to celebrate my dads birthday. Myself and my parents were in town visiting and my sister had this on her list of restaurants she wanted to try. We were able to book quickly via open table. The service and food were phenomenal! They gave us a dessert for his birthday, as well as a pasta kit of the vodka pasta we ordered for dinner. It was extremely sweet of them to do that. Thank you so much!!

The food was amazing. The service was top tier. Highly recommend! Presentation was in point and every dish was fabulous!

Food was 10/10!! Service was very good too. I love taking my time with dinner and trying all the courses and that is what we did! Arrived at 7:15, left 3 hours later. All of the pastas were amazing!! Focaccia was warm and fresh, the prosciutto and pear was really good. The wagyu was sooooooo good!! Cooked perfectly. I asked for medium and it came more medium rare but it was so good so I didn't mind. We wanted cake for desert and they didn't have any on the menu so the server gave us an off menu option. They do have valet parking but I found a street free spot around the corner super close. My only sort of complaint is we say in the patio and it was 30 degrees outside. It was enclosed and they had heaters but it was still a bit cold. I would still go again!

Went to Juniper for their Valentine's Day set menu experience. Made a reservation in advance (which required a credit card but doesn't actually charge the meal price unless you do not show up). Were seated immediately at the chef's table where we could watch the inner working of the kitchen. The inside of the restaurant is nice, a darker moody kind of vibe amid all the rest of the food scene in this area. The team was nice to us, we basically had direct access to both of the main bartenders sitting where we did. Food came out at a very reasonable pace, and we were in and out in just under and hour and a half. The food itself was good but nothing super special (and quite expensive for the portions). The set menu included the following portions (1 per person): Apps, pasta, entree, dessert. FOOD Apps: The beet salad was good, the crisp potato with caviar was okay [but included an additional up charge so did not seem worth it] Pasta: our favorite part Entree: the steak option was cooked well but not seasoned at all, the pork option was very flavorful. Both seemed like pretty small amounts for an entree Dessert: a rolled chocolate ganache with some crunchies and ice cream - pretty solid DRINK The mixed drinks looked good visually, but none of a few options were my personal taste so I got a glass of wine. Typically I drink specific reds and the one I ordered should have been great but fell a bit flat (not a bold Chianti Classico, as the name implied) Overall I'd say Juniper is a nice restaurant with a great vibe and nice team, but the food was a bit underwhelming especially for the price of the menu we had on the day we went.

Big eye pizzelle

Had the best birthday dinner a girl could ask for! Special shout out to our server, who if I remember correctly was named Abby, and all of the Juniper team that made this celebration feel extra special. Of all our favorite spots in Austin, I chose to come here for dinner the day of my birthday with my husband. We loved the tasting menu when we first tried Juniper and while this one looked enticing, we decided to order from the a la carte menu this time. We also made sure to take advantage of their recently added apperitivo hour (Sunday through Thursday 5-7 PM). The fiadoni is a literal explosion of cheesy goodness that even impressed my husband who doesn't typically like cheese. The big eye pizzelle was a delicious few bites of a crunchy-taco-look-like with tuna, a fresh way to start the meal. From the a la carte, the focaccia was a little crunchier than expected but wonderfully fluffy on the inside and came with a creamy ricotta spread. The oysters surprisingly stole the show - the herb oil really made it pop! Both pasta dishes we ordered were amazing: a perfectly cooked risotto and a rigatoni alla vodka that would make one ready to die and go to heaven - hands down my favorite dish of the night. We were so full by this point that it was a miracle we had anymore room in our stomaches but we pressed on, motivated by how beautifully the wagyu NY strip was presented, it's juiciness going along so well with the charred broccolini. We had literally no more stomach space but our server was so kind as to treat us to a decadent scoop of gelato and a glass of Montenegro for us to try which paired nicely. As if Abby hadn't already spoiled us enough, she made sure we left with a little gift of make-at-home pasta. Service was impeccable right from the start. Thanks to the hostess and Abby, we got beautiful pictures taken of us. Overall, this was an unforgettable meal from the amazing food to the extremely hospitable staff.

We had the most lovely evening at Juniper. The service was so attentive and helpful-we never had an empty water glass. They made a special off menu vegan risotto which was delicious. My husband enjoyed the radiatori pasta too. You cannot skip the focaccia bread-it's insanely good and they were kind enough to bring me olive oil with the cheese/honey on the side. We also tried the broccolini side and I also highly recommend. Juniper is the perfect date night and we can't wait to come back!

How's the parking?

Hi, we have a parking lot next to us that is $12 for 3 hours. Valet is also $12. There is some free parking on the back street.

Is Juniper still doing take out?

Unfortunately we don't offer to-go/takeout at this time.

Is your outside patio dog-friendly?

When you request the tasting menu, are you sharing each dish? Or are you receiving two individual dishes of the same type?

Great question, thanks! Our tasting menu is 10-courses priced at $110 per person. Each member of the party would receive their own menu of identical items. Current menus can be found on our website at JuniperAustin.com. We only ask full table… Read more

How's the 10 course tasting menu? Will I still be hungry after?

I wasn't. And I am an eater... I actually had a snack before we went because I'm always anxious about small taster portions (🙈😬) and regretted it because by desert I was done!

After giving our keys away we walked into what is a beautiful outside area at Juliet's. It's a nice mix of feeling like you're in downtown Austin but also not. We went inside to request two seats outside and this is unfortunately where everything fell apart. After being seated all the way at the very corner of the restaurant near the entrance, we didn't receive water for 15 minutes. In fact, we had to ask for water, as well as silverware, from a person who was cleaning a table- not a waiter. We didn't order until about 30 minutes after being seated. We noticed that others around us who were dressed nicer for the occasion were receiving service but we were not (jeans and a nice top as opposed to a dressy outfit). This is less of an accusation and more of an observation. It took another waiter noticing that we had not been served to come over and take our order, and that was 5 minutes after we had to flag down a busser to ask for water. The flip side of that whole first part is that the food was pretty good. We got complimentary table bread (after we asked for it since it never came before our main meal) that was soft and went well with the olive oil it came with. For our entrees we got the shrimp scampi and chicken parm. The shrimp scampi was fantastic and light with creamy and bold flavors in-between. The chicken parm was maybe the largest chicken cutlet we've seen given out at a restaurant. Not only was the cutlet massive but it was delicious as well with a nice, light breading and cheese on top. The spaghetti alongside it was a nice touch but this was a true chicken parm entree as it should be. We were offered a complimentary dessert as an apology for the miscues before we ate but turned it down (still good of them to offer). Leaving was easy as the valet was very attentive and quick to get our car. We wish we could say our time at Juliet's was perfect because the setting and food are very nice and a fun change of pace from the surrounding blocks. However, it's difficult to overlook the mistakes made from the jump. We noticed that another table next to us was also experiencing bad service and looked unhappy enough to leave in the middle of their meal/ We're always open to having good food again so hopefully the next time we're here things are different. Just an unfortunate bittersweet taste to what otherwise would have been a fantastic meal.

The complementary focaccia is delicious. The desserts are great. I like the cookies, especially the pignolini, and the cannoli are very good. The bread itself could've been sliced a bit thinner but overall it was very well done. The chicken piccata had a bright lemon flavor that was enhanced with the capers. The chicken was accompanied by fresh pasta laden with butter and Parmesan cheese. All in all it was a satisfying experience. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Recommend recommended.

We started off with 2 cocktails - Passione & Breakfast Mule with the Heirloom Tomato & Burrata plate. The Passione was light and refreshing, alcohol not to overpowering. The same for the Breakfast Mule. Both cocktails went well with our appetizer and brunch meals. We ordered the Tuscan Hash with Braised Short Rib, Pollo Fritto, Americano & Breakfast Rosa. I ordered the Americano with prosciutto and it was too good that nothing else was left on the plate.
