This new trendy italian spot off guadalupe pleasantly surprised me for how much I enjoyed my experience. Right when you walk in, the decor is very alternative modern with a lot of alternative music posters adorning the walls and I loved it. I also want to shout out the staff as every person working there was so sweet and kind. It all creates a very welcoming vibe that just makes you want to stay and order more. As for the food, I loved everything we got. We got the big rig (rigatoni), chicken francese, caesar salad, and breadsticks. They were all so good with the ingredients being very fresh. For an italian place, the dishes were also light and refreshing rather than being rich and heavy which is one of the reasons I don't usually care for italian. Overall, a really great spot and I can't wait to be back.

Calamari

4 stars for vibes, 3 star for food. No halfsies allowed, so rounding down. Hits: -Big Rig -pizzeria chop salad on a hoagie - while it doesn't beat the competition, it does the job when you want it. -Calamari - first thing finished at the table -meatball grinder - a MASSIVE boy, definitely eat with a fork kinda sandwich - slid size portions for all Misses: -stuffed chicken wings - fun in concept, just not very flavorful -ricotta dumplings - not to my taste preferences, but our veg eater liked it Big shoutout to the staff because they're dope, jut some things to work on regarding execution!

Friday eggplant with an amazing sweet jelly.

How wonderful to have this restaurant in the Hyde Park neighborhood. My husband and I shared the fried eggplant, Caesar cabbage salad, and baked rigatoni with meatballs. All three dishes were very unique and wonderful. We are excited to go back to try the calamari which looked so good. We tend not to be red meat eaters so I would like it if they would have more pasta with a vegetarian slant. Next time, calamari and piccata chicken, I believe The atmosphere was fun . It felt like a New Jersey diner.

Calamari Curly Fries (I think the sandwich in the back is the Meatball Grinder)

Posting pictures because this place doesn't have many Yelp reviews yet and people need to see how good the food actually looks. Everything we tried was really good, and the staff was super friendly. They took the time to explain some of the menu items which I appreciated. Calamari Curly Fries: These were honestly my favorite thing we ordered. So good. The calamari was cooked perfectly, crispy and not chewy at all, and the flavor was amazing. The sauce on top just made it even better. I would 100% order these again and honestly would go back just for this dish. End Piece Lasagna: Really great flavor and very satisfying. If you are really hungry you might think about sharing, but honestly I would not want to because it is that good. I would just order your own. Not pictured: Chicken Parm (subbed with vodka sauce): Really good flavor and I am glad I swapped to the vodka sauce. It worked really well with the dish. Cabbage Caesar Salad: The flavor was really good. I had never had a Caesar salad made with cabbage before but I actually enjoyed it a lot. Overall everything tasted great and the portions were solid. Definitely a spot I would come back to. Updating my review after a second visit. This time I had the Jersey Ripper hot dog. It tasted really good and had a lot of flavor. The bun was pretty big, which I think they did so it could hold all the toppings together, and it actually did a good job at that. The only downside was that it made it a little hard to take a bite. Still really delicious though and I would definitely suggest giving it a try. My husband ordered the Big Rig and he said it tasted really good. Something I really appreciate about this place is that both times we came our food came out at a good time and at the right temperature, even though the restaurant was almost packed when we got there. I also love their to-go containers. They use disposable aluminum pans with lids, which is convenient because when it is time to reheat the food you can just throw it straight in the oven.

Braciole

The food was so good, the place feels so comfortable and cool, had such a great experience with the service and staff!!! We got the breadsticks and calamari curly fries, devoured those, then had the end piece lasagna and braciole, both were superb. We topped off dinner with tiramisu, which was probably the best both my husband and I have ever had! Braciole is so time intensive so it was awesome to get delicious one from this spot! It was pricey, but worth a nice dinner date out. We will be back!

Amazing addition to the Austin food scene. Chef mike and his amazing team provide personalized but casual service with beautifully executed food that you'd have think came out of your nonna's kitchen if she was a gangster of a chef. Atmosphere is humble but fun with an open kitchen, fun and #edgy decor and a banger of a playlist. COME HUNGRY. Thank you chef mike and the team. I wish you all the best with this beautiful endeavor.

Chicken Francese

Umarell absolutely lives up to the hype. We ordered the everything bagel cavatelli (sounds crazy, totally works), rigatoni, chicken Francese, and the cabbage Caesar--every single dish hit. The pastas were perfectly cooked, the Francese was bright and buttery, and the Caesar was a fresh twist. Great vibe, strong service, and a menu that's creative without trying too hard. Easy 5 stars--already planning another visit.

So this place had high hopes it being close to campus and stuff we saw from influencers online (our own mistake). Being from Jersey we were excited to try this place but we're extremely disappointed. Chicken parm sandwiches were not good. You can go to Walmart and buy the same ingredients and it would probably taste the same or better. The chips and drinks were good but everything was lacking. Normally if the food is meh and I wouldn't go again, I don't write reviews but we paid extra for vodka sauce on the subs. One came out with vodka sauce and one came out with marinara. When we told the staff, the server or manager came back and tried to gaslight us saying they were the same thing and refused to fix the sandwich. That alone is worth 1 star. If you pay for a product, that product should be delivered. We have photos to prove... pink one is the vodka and red is marinara. Anyways, disappointing food and poor service. The fact my sister walked out saying "my mouth is angry" is enough to keep us away.

Big Rig

This place has such an incredible vibe, feels like family when you walk in! The service is great and everything came out very fast. The food is creative and definitely a New Jersey vibe. They're BYOB for the time being and brought us a makeshift ice bucket for our wine! Highly recommend!

Food needed more seasoning. Expensive food considering there is no table service. Probably won't come back, hopefully they change!

After giving our keys away we walked into what is a beautiful outside area at Juliet's. It's a nice mix of feeling like you're in downtown Austin but also not. We went inside to request two seats outside and this is unfortunately where everything fell apart. After being seated all the way at the very corner of the restaurant near the entrance, we didn't receive water for 15 minutes. In fact, we had to ask for water, as well as silverware, from a person who was cleaning a table- not a waiter. We didn't order until about 30 minutes after being seated. We noticed that others around us who were dressed nicer for the occasion were receiving service but we were not (jeans and a nice top as opposed to a dressy outfit). This is less of an accusation and more of an observation. It took another waiter noticing that we had not been served to come over and take our order, and that was 5 minutes after we had to flag down a busser to ask for water. The flip side of that whole first part is that the food was pretty good. We got complimentary table bread (after we asked for it since it never came before our main meal) that was soft and went well with the olive oil it came with. For our entrees we got the shrimp scampi and chicken parm. The shrimp scampi was fantastic and light with creamy and bold flavors in-between. The chicken parm was maybe the largest chicken cutlet we've seen given out at a restaurant. Not only was the cutlet massive but it was delicious as well with a nice, light breading and cheese on top. The spaghetti alongside it was a nice touch but this was a true chicken parm entree as it should be. We were offered a complimentary dessert as an apology for the miscues before we ate but turned it down (still good of them to offer). Leaving was easy as the valet was very attentive and quick to get our car. We wish we could say our time at Juliet's was perfect because the setting and food are very nice and a fun change of pace from the surrounding blocks. However, it's difficult to overlook the mistakes made from the jump. We noticed that another table next to us was also experiencing bad service and looked unhappy enough to leave in the middle of their meal/ We're always open to having good food again so hopefully the next time we're here things are different. Just an unfortunate bittersweet taste to what otherwise would have been a fantastic meal.

It's not really a 'nice' date place but the food is really excellent. I always get the eggplant parmesan. The best in town. Very light on the bread crumbs, super high in eggplant tastiness. The marinara is very good. My wife usually gets the spahetti with Italian sausuage, which is always good. The insalata mista is very nice with the house vinaigrette and plenty for two to share. The complementary focaccia is delicious. The desserts are great. I like the cookies, especially the pignolini, and the cannoli are very good. My wife always gets gelato, especially stracciatella, when they have it. The prices are reasonable, probably higher than you'd expect for counter service, but worth it for the food quality. Staff is always friendly and attentive. It gets really crowded so be prepared to wait. It's worth it.

This restaurant has you placed your orders at the register and they are brought out to you from the kitchen by staff. They have a pretty varied selection of Italian dishes on the menu. Started with the bruschetta and had chicken piccata for the main entrée. The bruschetta was excellent. It was crispy and the tomatoes were very flavorful. The bread itself could've been sliced a bit thinner but overall it was very well done. The chicken piccata had a bright lemon flavor that was enhanced with the capers. The chicken was accompanied by fresh pasta laden with butter and Parmesan cheese. All in all it was a satisfying experience. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Recommend recommended.

Not too busy / crowded when we got to the Domain. Our server was very sweet and very attentive. She went over the menu and presented us with a smaller menu that had revisions and specials not on the regular menu. We started off with 2 cocktails - Passione & Breakfast Mule with the Heirloom Tomato & Burrata plate. The Passione was light and refreshing, alcohol not to overpowering. The same for the Breakfast Mule. Both cocktails went well with our appetizer and brunch meals. We ordered the Tuscan Hash with Braised Short Rib, Pollo Fritto, Americano & Breakfast Rosa. We each ordered and shared a few bites to taste. The Tuscan Hash with Braised Short rib and the short rib was cooked to perfection and blended well with the poached egg and hash. The Pollo Fritto was cooked well, however my son wasn't a fan of the sauce. He ate it anyways and said overall was good but not great because of the sauce. I ordered the Americano with prosciutto and it was too good that nothing else was left on the plate. My daughter had the Breakfast Rosa pizza, flavor was great, sauce & meats were evenly spread with 2 eggs to top it off. To finish off our brunch, we each had an espresso, tiramisu and strawberry sorbet. Dessert and coffee were great as well. We went home happy & full.

Never heard of this place but got a coupon in the mail for a buy one lunch, get a free lunch…read more Decided to try it as I'm always looking for decent Italian food. As it turns out the coupon was only good during the week and it was Saturday. No big deal. I ordered a Meatball Sandwich, my friend an Italian Sandwich (after asking our excellent young waitress about it). She brought out two very tasty types of bread with olive oil for dipping. The sandwiches came with Garlic Fries. The Fries were delicious but unfortunately mine were lukewarm. I certainly could have asked for a fresh portion, but was hungry enough not to bother. That's the reason my rating wasn't 5 Star. Because the restaurant was pretty empty on this Saturday afternoon, I feel the Chef shouldn't have sent out fries that weren't piping hot. The Meatball Sandwich however was marvelous. Freshly made, tasty meatballs with sauce and cheese on their focaccia bread was a real treat. I took half home and ate the rest for dinner. All in all, I'd come back here again as the food was excellent as well as the service.

If the traditional Lasagna is too time consuming to make then don't fake it with a casserole that the old Irish Lady makes. Good lasagna is made with layers of pasta, rich sauce, gooey cheese made with ricotta, mozzarella and parmigiano cheeses and loads of ground beef and sausage.
