S, you know you waltzed in with the coolest of hubbies! Pleasantries of hi were said first, and what you're ordering turned into laughing so hard we were sliding off the bar stool. "Tracy, who did your work?" Me, with a mouth full of good bourbon pasta with a kick of spice, tried to frown. lol "S, I like your 'eyes,' that eyebrow arch; it looks good." S, closing one eye like a pirate! "P, I like that under-eye work." "Tiff, it's okay, come on over to the Botox Crew. You'll love it! S, I hollered, laughing at your text message on the way home! Ok let's talk about that steak. It was a steak of all steaks. It was made to perfection; it was juicy, tender, and mouthwatering. The baked potato had all the trimmings, and the cheese was nicely melted. The Bourbon Pasta and Gumbo soup was flavorful and spicy. The jumbo shrimp had that nice firmness and was oh so fresh. Lunch with the hubs...it has been a while since we dined at Freda's Seafood Grille...such a super delightful lunch. We started with complimentary cornbread, which blew your socks off. The cornbread was warm, buttery and filled with bits of corn. It was so good we had two servings of the cornbread. The hubs had a hamburger and fries, I might have had a few of his French fries. I ordered the blacken catfish crawfish and ettoufee sauce along green beans and rice. So stinking delicious.... There were luncheon guests...overall casual, laidback environment. Quincey, our server, was one of the best servers we have had in quite some time. When she delivered our dishes, she said my dish did not have enough crawfish and she brought extra. We thoroughly enjoyed our date night at Freda's! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the live jazz-style singer in the bar area created the perfect ambiance. We started with the fondue appetizer and it was absolutely delicious. My husband ordered the seafood basket with a side of crawfish mac and cheese. While the seafood was great, the mac and cheese was a bit disappointing, it was overcooked and could have used more seasoning, which is the only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5. I went here with my friend(who also is my realtor) after signing for my new house. It was lunchtime and not real busy yet. We were greeted at the door by the hostess who brought us to our table. My husband and I had a nice lunch at Freda's on a recent Tuesday. While the parking lot made it look like the restaurant was busy, it felt decidedly not crowded inside. We were seated in a comfortable booth near a window. A lovely cornbread round and honey butter came soon after we ordered drinks. Service was very good when the orders were taken and delivered, but a bit aggressive in terms of picking up the dishes. The food was good, not great. My grilled shrimp and rice were very good, but the green beans were very undercooked. My husband said his salad was good. If you enjoy seafood, this is a very good restaurant choice. If not, there are few selections... particularly on the lunch menu. But you can always order from the dinner menu. Once we decided not to opt for one of the tempting dessert offerings, our server left the bill. Unfortunately, she entirely forgot about us after that. I enjoy coming here on Friday or Saturday evenings. I like to sit in the bar and listen to their house musician. He plays. Music on request but usually sings music from the 60s, for example Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Hank Williams, etc I also like to get a dozen raw oysters and listen to the music. My wife and I go to Freda's occasionally for special occasions, and last night was like that. We were treated like special people. But I also saw a family with four kids get seated at a big, round table, and the waiters wasted no time getting drinks in foam cups with lids and straws to the kiddos, and for them to be attentive to all kinds of customers like that is worth calling out. As for the food, I ordered an appetizer and the orange roughy with shrimp with a glass of wine, and my wife ordered salmon the way she likes it (not on the menu) and the waiter didn't blink and it came perfectly done. My roughy came on a bed of risotto and very large asparagus I feared would be tough. Not to worry, they were great, though I would have enjoyed three shrimp instead of two. The crab cake is extraordinary, and I urge you to compare it with other bready monsters you get elsewhere. Delicately crusted with a lightly spicy remoulade, it's a terrific starter. The mousse cake is a touch heavy but the crème brûlée is just right. We ate ourselves silly. read more

Had a good meal at Freda's! We'd come back for a nice evening. The meal was a bit more expensive than we'd hoped for and at times felt like some of the items ordered didn't meet the expectation. The surf and turf was solid. 5/5. Medium rare steak, nice potato, big shrimp. Crawfish dishes were good too, but you could tell they weren't fresh. What do you expect when you order crawfish in February. However, the portion was good size and garlic bread was delicious. The miss of the evening was the gumbo. It was significantly thicker than usual and had large pieces of pepper in them. Didn't enjoy it for the price point. Service was friendly and advised nicely on what to do. read more

Large restaurant, big enough to hold large parties with a big parking lot I came for Sunday brunch. They use a banquet room and set the food out in 2 long rows. They had options like seafood pasta, salmon, tilapia, beef carving station, fried shrimp, and fried catfish. They also had a pot of really good gumbo. Traditional breakfast items like bacon, pancakes, made to order omelets. Some veggies like brussel sprouts, broccoli and items to build your own salad. Oddly for a Saturday lunch ( little past 1230PM), it was not very crowded, which of course is neither here nor there. Friendly service, tasty food, and a relaxing time. We will be back. Freda's Steakhouse did not disappoint! My steak was cooked perfectly, juicy, flavorful, and exactly how I ordered it. The blue wedge salad was honestly the best I've ever had -- super fresh with the perfect amount of blue cheese. We paired everything with a great bottle of cab, which made the night even better. To start, we have passed by this for years and years, we live down the road but we never stop in. Finally we figured it was time for the former teen's BIRTHDAY meal. There was ample parking when we went, not crowded at all, mid day for us between lunch and dinner. The place is very nice, good lighting, great décor and lots of plants. The lighting is subdued and works well. We all started off with drinks, I got an old fashioned as it is becoming my drink of choice, Shana got a Mexican Martini, and M got a Mango martini then an expresso martini. All were very good. The cornbread they supply was amazing, just so so good. The former Teen and Shana got calamari with Marinara and Salsa Verde and they both loved it, not something I enjoy so I didn't try it. Shana got the Pecan Crusted Tilapia which was fantastic according to her. The former Teen got a shrimp and crawfish etouffee and raved about it. I got a shrimp and andouille sausage gumbo cup and then the shrimp and andouille sausage pasta. The gumbo was the chef's kiss, the roux was perfect. The pasta while still good was not as good as everything else in my opinion, I would have stuck to a larger Gumbo but wanted to try. If I had one complaint or something to work on, while the shrimp is plentiful as is the crawfish, the sausage is limited in both meals. I am more a sausage guy then shrimp and would have liked more of that, though the shrimp was good. The waitress was friendly, checked in without hovering, and answered all our questions. The food was mostly prompt, there was a slight delay on the French Bread we ordered which was a delight. We did get a bread pudding to go, so we ate that at home and it was tasty even not right out of the kitchen. While Shana and the FT loved it more then I did, it was still very good. It is a bit on the pricey side so be prepared for that, not outrageous but higher end so be mindful. It is a lovely place with good food and a fast staff. Due to pricing and location being easy to forget it won't be a regular but for a birthday or special event will we try to remember. read more

This place was pretty bomb. Went for fathers day. A little disappointing they downsize the buffet for holidays but it was still good. Bring out those snow crabs for dads though haha. Everything was pretty good. Servings were kept full so if there was anything you went back for it was there. Our waiter was super attentive. It's been several years since we've dined at Freda's and decided to return for their Easter brunch buffet which sounded reasonable. Arrived for 10:30 reservation, we're seated and headed to their buffet which included a carving station of brisket, sausage and ham. A variety of breakfast items from eggs, bacon, sausage patties, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, seafood pasta, salmon, tilapia, fried catfish, peel n eat shrimp, fried shrimp, desserts consisted of fresh fruit, parfaits, mini cheesecake bites, mini beignets etc. Majority of "hot" items were not at health code regulated temperatures, not fresh, very dry brisket, sausage casing was so rubbery and difficult to chew, most items lacked creativity and flavor. Fried shrimp was overcooked and appeared frozen, not fresh. Desserts also seemed like a frozen brand, not made in-house. A very disappointing experience since a lot of time had passed since our last visit. The only thing we enjoyed was the mimosa special, $10 and our waitstaff! Based on this visit, I don't think we'd be interested in returning, sorry. read more

I really like the ambiance at Freda's its low lit lights makes it romantic.I have been for brunch and enjoyed the bread pudding and combination of different dishes, well worth the price. We went recently for a birthday dinner and the dishes were lacking. The fried catfish is not traditional cornmeal fried, it's done with panko crumbs and lacked seasoning. The etoufee sauce was good but the shrimp and crawfish had no flavor, without the sauce it was a flop. Now the Sword Fish and mushroom risotto was amazing! They should add it to the menu as a regular item. The cream sauce adds a little flare and that risotto makes it razzle dazzle. All together I think it was just a miss on the etoufee but for the price it shouldn't be a miss. read more

The crab cake was phenomenal, one of the best I've had in a while. The jalapeno adds a nice and unique kick to this classic. A great heaping portion as well. Something I would get on every visit back if I have the chance. I was looking forward to trying the rainbow trout Alexander but unfortunately they had run out of rainbow trout that day. The chef came out and expressed his regret and was so kind about the whole situation, totally did not need to do that but such a thoughtful gesture. Instead I had the salmon Alexander and stumbled into a really amazing dish. The salmon was cooked really nicely, the crab topping was extraordinary, and the pesto rice which I've never heard of before was awesome. The setting here is a nice dinner out, perfect for a date or family celebration. The bar is quite large and separated from the dining room. I could see it being a great bar to have a drink. My family hosted a75th birthday party for me this week. I don't think there are enough words to express what an awesome time we had ! Brandon greeted us right at the door, which made us feel welcome. Did not rush us to order, explained the items on the menu was just overall super nice & welcoming. The food was superb, hot so delicious. The wait time was very short. The tea is so good haven't had good tea in so long. Ms. Freda came out and greeted us and talked with us, really made it feel like just a family having a meal together. I have too say this is the best restaurant I've been to in many years. The ordering was not rushed the food was served fresh hot without waiting 20min or longer, Everything was good and as we ordered. The cornbread was soo good, home made and fresh. We had a champagne toast to the graduates followed by oysters Rockefeller, calamari and spinach dip were all a hit. Everyone enjoyed the steaks the seafood.
