Known for their seafood, we come for the blackened chicken breast which is delicious. Normally quite busy but a small crowd tonight. Server was attentive and knowledgeable. Order came out perfectly!

We came to The Boat because we were craving a seafood boil and had a great dinner! We ordered a pound of crawfish and a half pound of shrimp with sausage to share. We got it medium flavored and I wish we got it spicier because it wasn't as spicy as the waitress said it would be. Personally I didn't think the seafood boil was as flavorful as I'd like but my boyfriend really enjoyed it. We got chips and guacamole that was really good but nothing out of the ordinary. I ordered a house margarita with tajin and thought it was way too strong. I love a strong margarita but there was hardly any lime flavor and it reminded me of my cheap college days . (Of course I still finished it though ) Overall the food was good and the inside made me feel like I was at the beach. It's family friendly but also a great place to watch a game with a full bar. They had live music outside on the patio and all of the staff was incredibly friendly. I would definitely come back but just order a spicier flavor and different drink

We were looking for a nice place to eat while in Austin and were directed to the Boat. I must say I am quite disappointed now, because there is no Houston location! The place was bustling, and for good reason! The interior was fun and clean, with tvs showing various sports games. Despite being busy, our server was pleasant and courteous, making sure we had a place to wait while our takeout order was being completed. The food was well packed and easy to carry. And the food was amazing! From the fettuccine Alfredo to the hush puppies to the quesadillas to the seafood platter, everything was so delicious! And the quantity matched the quality! I was surprised by how various types of cuisine were all made so well by one restaurant. And the brownie dessert was the symbolic icing on the cake! Can't wait to go back there when I'm back in Austin!

As soon as we walked in, we were greeted super kindly and taken right to our table. The host/server immediately acknowledged that my wife is pregnant and even offered different seating options to make sure she was comfortable -- really appreciated that. They told us about all the specials right away and brought our drinks out fast. The service here is top-notch every single time, and the seafood never disappoints. I had the fish and chips -- crispy batter, fresh fish, and the tartar sauce was amazing. My wife had the shrimp gumbo and said it was delicious. We also got a pound of crab legs, and they definitely didn't skimp, especially with the Monday special they were running. The ambience is really cool too -- big open layout, surrounding patio, and two large bars on each side of the restaurant. Great experience all around. Highly recommend!

A beautiful, tasteful bowl of a fine southern cuisine shrimp & Grits.

When I first walked in the hostess made me second guess me coming to this spot that I made a last second decision on. Once I got past the gate keeper I headed to the bar , which was a litte to close for comfort for me but I got over that inconvenience and order a drink. The ambiance of that place was that of a typical mom & pop casual sea food joint watering hole. The food was the Shrimp and Grits were slapping, could've used a little more seasoning but it was great. The red beans and rice were some of the best that I have experienced in AUSTIN. I will be going back for those dishes.

A unique restraint with a fun boat theme. From the decor to the vibes, the whole place felt like you entered a boat. The food is a mix of Cajun and casual dining. Overall the flavors were pretty normal, nothing too special but standard food is sometimes what you need. Definitely a unique experience and seemed like a great place to bring kids as there were lots of families.

I got to speak with Chef Manny and and Carina, the general manager to gain some insights about the business. Mexican Cocina is based on the cooking method and seasonings. The foods can be cooked over fire, oven or in the stove. Their unique value proposition is that you can choose your seafood from the case and the restaurant staff prepares the food to your liking. The restaurant is very large with different size rooms for rental. For large party rentals the spend minimum is $1000 and during the week it is $800. The bartender was very friendly and attentive to us but the food was very disappointing. We started with the ceviche tropical, which is consists of shrimp and fruit/veggies. It was very underseasoned and did not seem to be well marinated. Moreover, the dish had a fishiness to it that was a turnoff. The chips served with the ceviche had oil collecting on them (see photo). I've had good ceviche in the U.S. and Mexico and this was not it. The main entree was the Tacos Nayarit (fish tacos). The portions of fish were microscopic and also lacked flavor. The Spanish rice served on the side was the worst I've had in a restaurant. It was wet, old and gummy (see photo). The black beans didn't taste bad but they were superheated as if they were warmed in a microwave. Overall, the food was pretty horrible. So very sad as I was hoping to find a good Mexican seafood option in Austin. I was told that this restaurant is owned by the same folks that operate Casa Chapala, where I have had great experiences. Hopefully this place will improve over time.

The portions are huge, the service is great, and it's a chain that I don't mind visiting a few times a year. My Overall Rating - 4 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - The Pappadeaux in NW Austin is very nice, there are many large, round tables, cozy booths, and it buzzes with energy. Thick, white tablecloths, wood panel walls, and Cajun music add to the atmosphere and transport you to a fine dining restaurant in New Orleans. Except it's 100% ok to be casual. It feels upscale and laid back at the same time. 1 Star. Service - Our server was excellent. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever had bad service at a Pappadeaux. Kudos to the training staff, because the servers are very attentive, polite, patient, and will customize anything for you. 1 Star. Food - As soon as you sit down, a nice, oven warmed bread loaf and whipped butter is brought out. Pro Tip - Ask for Scampi Butter to eat with the bread. My go-to dish is the Catfish with Beans and Rice, but on this visit, I went with the lunch gumbo/po'boy combo. I should have stuck with my go-to dish, because the seafood gumbo was too salty, and the bread for the po'boy was overly baked. The fried oysters were delicious, but if the bread roll isn't good, it kind of ruins the entire po'boy. But Pappadeaux has a great track record with me, so I consider this a one-off issue. 1 Star. Will I Return? - Yes. Pappadeaux is a chain the Texas. While I may not return to this location in Austin, I will continue to visit the many locations in the DFW area. 1 Star.

About 5-7 minutes go by and nothing. We started eating the crackers at the table because we were hungry. A male waiter nearby noticed we had not been helped so he brought us menus and said Ashley was our waitress and he would see where she was. Another 10 minutes go by and nothing. We noticed an Ashley nearby waiting on the 3 tables surrounding us and she never acknowledged us. She showed 1 table some dessert options, she assisted another table with to go containers, and checked on the other after they received their food. All while walking right passed our table multiple times. I kept looking around and we were about to walk out when Mark, another waiter, stopped to check in on us. He apologized about the wait. He said Ashley was our waitress but he would get our drink order started. I thanked him and told him we were actually ready to order. He then asked what we would like. We placed our drink order and food order. Mark was very friendly and professional. He said his tables were elsewhere but he would be taking over our table too. I was glad to hear. I'm not sure if this was a miscommunication issue or what but it seemed that everyone nearby knew we were at Ashley's table but Ashley herself. Interestingly enough, after the 3 tables near us cleared out, so did Ashley. We didn't see her again. Kudos to Mark!! He was observant and noticed we hadn't been helped and jumped right in. If it wasn't for Mark we were going to walk out and dine elsewhere. A manager even stopped by to apologize. He heard what happened and offered us a free dessert. He checked in against later to see how things were. Mark and the manager are a 10/10. The food was just okay. A bit over priced for the quality and portion.
