Decent place, but seems to have gone a little downhill since they first showed up at the domain. Don't get me wrong, the food is generally pretty good as far as items, and it's refreshing to have some seafood in the area. The port old fashioned is on the weaker side, and their broccolini beds for fish is 90% stems. Just kinda weak in my opinion when paying 36$ for a farm raised red fish. The last annoying part is the host/seating management - not very efficient. They crammed 6 of us in a small table, while literally every huge booth had only 2 people. I'm a huge fan of the espresso martinis here. They come topped with a delicious foam that makes the drink feel a little more special. Plank Provisions also offers a great oyster happy hour. The oysters are consistently fresh, and I love that the vinaigrette is served in a dropper, which makes it easy to control how much you add to each one. The rest of the food has been more hit or miss for me, so I usually stick with the espresso martini and oysters whenever I visit. Those two items alone are enough to keep me coming back. read more

Stopped in while in the Domain for a show. We were seated right away even without a reservation which was nice. Service was super attentive which was awesome. I really liked the mahi mahi tacos- the flavor was great. Also like the flavors in the wonton tacos- spicy and delicious, but the downside is both tacos were a bit on the soggy side. We landed at Plank Provisions at The Domain after an evening of walking around - The Domain is a great spot for that - and a seafood place felt like the right call for dinner. Turns out there's one in Fort Worth, so not quite the discovery we thought it was, but no complaints there. The vibe is exactly what you'd expect - nautical without being cheesy, casual enough to walk into after a long evening without feeling out of place. Our server was bubbly and genuinely great, which set a nice tone from the start. We started with two appetizers. The Wonton Tuna Tacos were solid - we did the cilantro and pineapple salsa on the side, which probably cost us something since it's clearly built into the dish, but they still held up. The real standout was the Crispy Rice Cakes with spicy tuna. The crunch, the fish, the spicy mayo - I could have eaten a full plate of those without blinking. The Strawberry Surfer cocktail was also expertly made, and the name alone earns points. For our main we shared the fish and chips, and unfortunately it missed. The fish came out rubbery and the fries needed salt. At a seafood restaurant that's the one dish that should be automatic, so that one stings a little. There is a huge boat skeleton in the area that we sat and I thought it was pretty cool. came here early as our toddler sleeps at 7pm but in doing so, we are able to catch their happy hour. I had the golden beets, oysters and fish tacos. All were yummy. We did order a kids salmon meal (not pictured) and our son liked the salmon. Came here to celebrate a birthday! Made reservations for a large party. Upon entry, we were seated immediately. Our server was friendly and helpful with good follow through. This was my first time eating at Plank Provisions. We went on a Friday night with reservations for four. It was a good thing we did because the place was packed, the wait was about 45 minutes for anyone without a reservation. We arrived on time and were seated on the patio right away, which was a great start. The patio has a nice atmosphere and felt lively without being overwhelming. Our waiter was very attentive and did a great job keeping our drinks flowing. The table really enjoyed the cocktails, especially the cucumber collins and the sea foam margarita. For appetizers we shared the wonton tuna tacos and fried calamari, and both were tasty. For my main, I ordered the lobster bisque and it had a unique flavor that I really liked. My dinner companions ordered the baja fish tacos, Faroe Island salmon, and the redfish. We all enjoyed the night from start to finish. I would say this is a great midrange seafood restaurant, and if grading within that category I would give it 5 stars. Had the best happy hour experience at Plank! We stopped by during their daily happy hour (every day 3-6 PM- such a great deal!) and were blown away by everything we tried. We started with the ahi tuna wonton that was crispy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced, followed by the fresh ceviche and the beet salad, all of which were delicious and felt so fresh. Let's start with parking. It's all free and there's parking in the street or you can choose the pink garage just a short walk away. I knew I was coming here the day before with a group of 12 people which gave me plenty of time to scan through over 100 of the most current reviews. Plenty of folks raving about their experience here, but we all like to know where they fall short as well. Most of the yelpers here enjoy this place, but there are instances where service lacks, especially at the bar and either the food is too bland or salty. The crab cakes are small for the money, the oysters don't appear to be local and one reviewer compared it to an overpriced Red Lobster. Since this is a group setting, I should point out that they do have a room at the back which has a maximum occupancy of 19. They even put together a personalized menu for our group. The apps were good, the biniet style hush puppies paired with bacon jam were the best as were the brussell sprouts. The main course choices were mixed. The flat iron steaks were unevenly cooked, raw at one end well done at the other. The side of fries were boring in desperate need of ketchup. The salmon was cooked perfectly and flakey ( best not to order steak at a seafood restaurant). Our desserts came out a lot later than expected, and they were prepacked to go. Overall, the service was slow paced which we expected and the food for the most part was good and a step above Red Lobster. I really enjoyed my experience at this wonderful restaurant located in the Domain. Very clean restaurant with wonderful staff. Every so often a server would come by and check on my guest and I. I ordered the California roll sushi. Of course it was delicious. I'm a bit new to sushi so I'm glad I ordered something I would want to keep coming back to order. Austin definitely isn't a seafood destination, but this place did right by this east-coaster! We had a late dinner and patrons were pretty sparse when we came in. The decor is actually really nice. They have a huge boat frame hanging from the ceiling. I talked about it with the waiter and it may actually be foam, despite it looking just like wood. The crab dip was excellent. It's such a small detail, but I love those they sliced the lemons. It's so smart and you'll know what I mean when you go. I ordered the grilled salmon. It's so easy to overcook salmon, but it was about as perfect as you can cook it-- moist and flaky. The mushroom risotto was perfect. The thing to get is definitely the seafood. I went for happy hour and it was such a deal. $1.50 oysters and the majority of there raw menu on happy hour. The Crudo was fantastic. The crispy rice with ahi tuna was a little underwhelming. A lot of rice but good for sharing. I would recommend skipping that one. I went at 5pm on a Friday and it was pretty quiet at the bar area. I had lunch here today. It was a great patio spot. Service was great. The margarita was Devine. Food: fish tacos ...you could order blackened, grilled or fried. I had blackened. Slaw was creamy but it needed more sauce tbh. And more spice. Like a tomatillo Jalapeño crema. It was a tad on the bland/dry side. But the fries were good. Seafood platter was to due. Shrimp was tasty. Oysters were good (as per the other ladies at our table) and ceviche had a little kick and was very refreshing. Next time I'll have to try the sushi. My wife and I were on our way to Esther's Follies in Austin and our bus stopped at the Domain so that the riders could eat dinner. We chose to check out Plank Seafood Provisions and we were rewarded with a tasty meal. We tried the fish tacos (cod) with French fries. My wife also tried the house margarita with "sea" foam. That was a winner as well. But the best part of the visit was the excellent customer service at the time we arrived. We had a large group and we were all helped in a prompt efficient manner. Came here for the first time for dinner tonight. At the first table that we were sat at, drops of water started dripping on two of the people in our party of four. Upon our request, they moved us to another table. And, someone did come by to apologize for the dripping water. Yet, minutes later they sat another party in the same spot. I had their shrimp tacos, which were decent but nothing to write home about. And, it was somewhat pricey at $20 for JUST 3 tacos and no sides. After our first round of drinks, our waiter did not ask if we wanted another round. Nor did he refill our waters even once. The worst part of the entire experience was when the sun reflecting on the building across from the restaurant shined directly and uncomfortably into my husband's and my eyes...to the point where we both had to put our sunglasses on inside the restaurant. There were no apologies by any of the staff about that. The restaurant definitely should consider installing blinds to remedy that situation. My husband and I decided to try Plank Provisions the day after Valentine's Day. We had a reservation and were looking forward to a nice evening out. We started with the crab cakes. While you do get two, they were very small -- about the size of a golf ball -- which was a bit surprising for the price. For our entrées, I ordered the fried shrimp and my husband ordered the redfish. After eating part of his dish, he realized the inside of the redfish was completely raw. This isn't a type of fish he would normally eat raw. It took a while to get our waitress's attention, but when we did, she offered to remake the dish or let him order something different. He chose to order the fish and chips instead. When the new dish was delivered, we were told his meals would be comped. However, when we received the bill, both the raw redfish and the new fish and chips were charged. Again, it was difficult to get our waitress's attention. Once she returned, my husband explained that his meals were supposed to be comped. I should also mention that gratuity is automatically added to the bill. The gratuity was calculated based on all three entrées, the appetizer, and our drinks. When the corrected bill came out, we were still charged for the gratuity for all items (the comped ones). That was very disappointing. The food that was properly cooked did taste very good, but between the raw fish, billing errors, and difficulty getting service, the overall experience fell short. I didn't care for the sauce that came with the hush puppies much but the hush puppies by themselves were 7/10-some of the corn that is inside of them were overcooked and hard. The salad was OK.
