    Burger, chicken fried steak

We've been to The Water Trough a few times now and in aggregate it is a fun and lively place to dine at. The closest parking is the Orange Garage so the walk over is quick. Breakfast or dinner, it is a nice, clean place with a good vibe and good food. The setting at night is much better as they have live music most nights and put up the garage shutter so you can hear it from their outdoor portion as well. On the breakfast side of things we sat quickly and service was okay. We ordered the Texas breakfast tacos and the pancakes, hash browns, and bacon a la carte. The breakfast tacos were good. We got them with brisket and the portion was huge, although we wish it came with three tortillas instead of two because it was more than we could fit into them. The eggs, cheese, and brisket all came together and despite what reads as a smaller dish, we were pretty full by it. As for the pancakes, hash browns, and bacon; all were pretty classic versions of them. The pancakes were good, thin and sweet. The hash browns were cooked well with a slight crunch and the bacon was the highlight of the three, full of flavor with a nice chew and crisp. We also ordered chocolate milk, but whatever we got was NOT chocolate milk. It was closer to a frothed drink and had cinnamon in it which was a bit strange. The waitress could clearly see we were not feeling it and she comped it on our bill which was very, very nice of her to do without asking. The dinner here is much better than the breakfast admittedly. The live music certainly helps and the vibe with the low lighting gives it a very nice feel when dining. We had the country fried steak and LSC burger, both very good. The country fried steak was one of the better ones we've had here, extremely savory and the fries were good too. The burger was juicy and full of flavor as well. Beware the fries here are really home fries or cubed fries in case geometry is not your thing. Ultimately, The Water Trough is a very good place to eat at and is probably a bit overlooked due to its location in The Domain, but between solid food and good live music scene, we don't see why anyone wouldn't want to stop by. We'd recommend this spot as an alternative to the hustle and bustle of the north Domain and for those preferring a more relaxed and intimate night of food and music.

Such a great vibe! Very chill and calm great for a small lunch/ patio hang with a small group or people. Service was okay.. there was only one person so I don't blame the wait. She was very nice and helpful. We just got happy hour margs and chips great deal! I would definitely come here again!

Laid back spot with live music and friendly service. Food was ok - Caesar salad was pretty basic and sliders had good flavor but had bones and the rolls were falling apart. Pretty convenient if staying in the area though. Good outdoor patio for nice weather nights

Amazing experience at The Water Trough! Delicious food, super friendly service, and a cozy rustic vibe with a great patio. I'd definitely come back and recommend it to friends.

Our manager was paying for HH, and they chose this place. We came during the cold season, and this place has a huge fireplace. The interior feels very cozy and warm. It wasn't packed and it felt nice when I got here. We go drinks and apps. The apps was good for bar food and the drink was good. They have a good selections of drinks to chose from. I also walked outside and it looks really nice for a nice weather. I would comeback here for a date just for the setting.

Brisket tacos-my friend said the brisket was amazing.

My friend and I arrived here around 7PM on a Saturday night. The place was relatively empty, but got busier before we left around 10PM. Decor is rustic and welcoming with a huge fireplace in the center of the indoor space and a fire pit providing a cozy ambiance in the outdoor area. My Chill Cowboy cocktail was deliciously floral and well balanced with a fresh mint garnish. Our server was very attentive, and I never ran out of water. When I asked about ingredients in my meal, she promptly asked the chef and provided the information I requested. My miso salmon with baby bok choy was well seasoned and perfectly cooked. I really enjoyed the sesame purée made with squash. My friend enjoyed her generously portioned brisket tacos, and said the brisket was amazing. The restaurant and bar is connected to a hotel with reserved parking, so you will need to park either in the Orange garage or somewhere else nearby. Definitely a fun, off the beaten bath, for dining, drinking, and/or enjoying some live music at the Domain.

The Water Trough is connected to the Lonestar Court hotel in the domain. While staying at the hotel, we decided for a Saturday dinner at the water trough. Luckily, even on game night, there was no wait for a party of 4. We seated ourselves near the bar. The rustic-barn vibe was welcoming, however the over abundance of flys was not. I believe if the doors had been closed off from the pool area it may have not been as bad, but we were constantly swatting them away. The food itself was alright. The $25 country fried steak was good, the loaded baked potato was really just a half with melted cheese and bacon and was pretty disappointing considering the price point. Definitely recommend the egg-roll appetizer, this was probably the best thing we had.

    Great drinks and entertainment.

I had drinks and appetizers, the service was amazing. The chips and queso were great as were the drinks.

While staying at Lone Star Court I had the opportunity to dine at Water Trough. The place is really like like eating inside a big barn with bar on one side and fireplace on the other. There are TVs all around and live music at night. The first night I enjoyed a Lone Star Beer and Peach Cobbler. The beer was good and the cobbler was tasty. I thought it could have been a little sweeter. The next morning I had breakfast where I ordered the Classic Breakfast Plate. I customized it to include scrambled eggs, bacon and toast. There was free coffee to help wakeup. Breakfast was very good and had a tentative server to make sure we were satisfied. I never know this place was here and glad was able to discover it.

The Watertrough has a rustic and cozy charm that you'll never forget. Bartenders are super friendly, and the indoor + outdoor space is super spacious. Indoors you can find tables + many cozy couches. Outdoors you can sit poolside by their fire pits to warm up when it gets chilly! In the evenings there's live music either inside the bar or on the lawn. If you don't want to head downstairs for the music, you can enjoy it from your balcony during your stay. Staff were so warm and welcoming, especially Winnie! During our stay, I looked forward to seeing her each morning when getting breakfast. She made me feel at home when grabbing a bite to eat. AM Pastries, coffee, + tea are complimentary for guests at The Water Trough. But they also have a breakfast menu. -Breakfast tacos w/ bacon + homemade pico de gallo -Breakfast waffle sandwich: Choice of bacon or sausage, scrambled eggs served bwtn two waffles. Served w/ maple syrup PM We didn't get dinner at the bar, but did get some drinks. -Ranch water: Tequila, homemade lime popsicle, topo chico (my new fave besides a good marg) -Lone Star beer Stop by and check out their delicious breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu. Grab a drink and enjoy the live music outside! Highly recommend!

Bomb burger! This place was quiet on a Thursday night, not many people enjoying their meals, but they had live music, great full bar and the perfect menu for something to hit the spot. I ordered a burger for dinner, with the side of spicy slaw. It was truly delicious. Everything you want in a burger- juicy, filling and cooked to perfection. Loved this little spot so much I went back down for breakfast and got the two egg tacos. Perfect for a quick bite and on to activities. The staff is beyond friendly and accommodating, and I can't wait until I'm back in the area to go back and bring my family!

    Super cool building.

Great little watering hole at the Lone Star Court Boutique Hotel. Unlimited good coffee and super cool building makes it 5 stars. They are a little understaffed but super friendly. The free breakfast is above average and food can be ordered. Drinks are quick. Food is not. We stayed at Lone Star for a birthday get away and there are multiple great places to eat in the Domain. This little place is just a filler spot but they do a fine job.

Come here for Happy Hour and stay for live music! This is a super cozy place tucked away in The Domain with great Happy Hour deals every day from 4-7pm. Try out their $5 HH margarita or grab $2 HH Lone Star cans and chill by the fireplace inside and out. We also ordered dinner one night which was generally tasty but a bit underwhelming. The service however was great! They even give you a hot towel at the end to clean your hands which was a nice surprise.

Burger and fries. Really good burger. Ton o' food.

A new business acquaintance suggested we meet there and when we walked in, it was surprisingly empty. The manager was our server and he shared some history as he recently took over operating this location a year or so ago. He was well versed in wines and their wines were lower in sulfites so they were less tannic/dry, which is typically my preference in wines. He suggested a wine flight options if we wanted to try different wines, which was nice. We each told him our typical preferences and he created a custom flight for us. To me they were lighter and less bold than I prefer but it was good to try a few different kinds. She had two whites and two reds. I had four different reds. They have limited food options (i.e., two) so we ordered the hummus that was pictured with bread but they were out so they offered pita chips instead, which were fine. He did say that even though they had limited food options, we could order from El Dorado next door and they would walk it over when it was ready, which is very cool even though I typically don't think of Mexican food and wine going together. :-) The overall presentation of the food and glasses was more basic than I would have expected from a wine shop since I've done several wine tastings before, but the location is great and I look forward to checking it out again soon and trying some different wines!

Ambiance is good, we mostly sit outdoors, service is always great, last two times Evan took care of us, and he's awesome. We don't eat anything with beef or pork, and in Doc Bs, even with that restriction they have so many options, especially with chicken, cocktails are bit pricey, but it's same in all the places in Domain, but they are solid, my go to drinks are Beverly Hills martini, crazy beautiful and the internal affairs. I like naked chicken wings(Thai sweet and spicy sauce on the side), or chicken kebab, which I usually have leftovers almost always. Hubby likes there , the number six sandwich. Their kungpao Brussel sprouts are addictive(but it's not a regular thing). And even though we have been here N number of times, we are always so full and never make it to dessert, but this time had decided to try dessert, hubby and me shared house made Oreo ice cream, I love love ice cream and there Oreo ice cream is one of the best Oreo ice cream I've ever had, and that warm not too sweet chocolate sauce was just perfect. I'm certain I would have dozed off in one if we weren't called up. We sat outdoor alongside several other families with kids. The music wasn't super loud and the tables were generously spaced so we weren't close enough for other peoples' conversations to distract from our own. We then ordered the following: Smoked Fish Dip Maine Crab Cakes Brussels Sprouts Fish Sandwich Lobster Grilled Cheese Lobster Pot Pie The smoked fish dip was good but nothing crazy. My sister had suggested the fried calamari instead, but my love of bread overrode my familial devotion. The dip itself was moist with no excess liquid and spread easily onto the provided cuts of sourdough toast. My only critique is that the dip seems like it's missing something, but I'm not food-smart enough to know what. However, because of my bread bias, this is still a 4/5. The crab cakes on the other hand were amazing. There was no excess oil soaking the fried crust and the crab meat inside wasn't over-salted, as I've come to expect from most crab cakes. These were highly enjoyable with bites of avocado and mandarin in between to balance the fried elements. 4.5/5 The Brussels sprouts were well-roasted, with a nice vinaigrette coating their crispy outsides. I expect this level of quality for Brussels sprouts from American restaurants at this point, so no surprises, just good in general. 4/5 Skipping the fish sandwich as unfortunately I didn't get to try them, but it looked and smelled great. I had one bite of the lobster grilled cheese, so take this particular review with a grain of salt. The smokiness of the cheeses sits on top of everything else without overpowering, while the lobster, bacon, and tomatoes provide a great mix of fat and brine. This is a lowbrow surf and turf between bread, and it's perfect. 5/5 Finally, we come to my own order, the lobster pot pie. Unfortunately, I shared this with the aforementioned sister and didn't get the full experience. The dish came piping hot and fresh, and the puff pastry was flaky and not overbaked. Internals-wise, I could see myself eating just the cream sauce like a chowder. It was perfectly flavored with veggies and herbs, with regular chunks of lobster. Not too salty and absolutely decadent, would not share again. 5/5 Overall, this was a highly enjoyable experience with fast, not rushed, service and an amazing spread. This is an easy recommendation for a family-friendly restaurant with lowkey vibes, and I'll forsure visit again when I'm back in town.
