Our server was training a new server and they did such a great job together. Attentive ,friendly, and knowledgeable. She recommended a Cabernet and it was so good! We started with the pita crab dip and I really liked it. Not fishy at all. Great mushroom and crab flavor. I was happy to learn that you can order side versions of the salads with your dinner. So I had the side house salad and it was absolutely delicious. I really enjoyed the honey dressing. I also ordered the metal Dinner. The the flavor was good but I don't think I will order it again. I like traditional metal and this was not it. The meatloaf was molded and looked like it came out of a TV dinner. Just my opinion. I did ask for ketchup because it comes with a verde. Again, good flavor just not traditional. Anywho, them we got to dessert! The server brought out a complimentary bread pudding dessert since we were celebrating birthdays. Came for a birthday dinner. Got 5 star treatment from our amazing server Whitney! Ask for Whitney when you go. She's top notch. Walking in is a wonderful experience. The chandeliers on the first floor set the tone. We dined upstairs. It's much darker tones still elegant also. Haywire was great in accommodations for dietary restrictions, thank you! So we had the chicken, ribeye and chicken fried steak. The chicken was so moist and wonderfully seasoned and cooked. The fries were not too hard or too greasy, just right. The chicken fried steak was thick and tender. It had breading but the breading did not take over the entree. The mashed potatoes so nice and fluffy. The ribeye was perfectly cooked at medium rare and the asparagus was the perfect size. Our table was brought a wonderful croissant bread pudding! A treat for the taste buds! Again, I cannot say enough for Whitney. The ONLY complaint I have is there no sound buffering items on the walls or rugs. We truly had a hard time hearing each other and fully enjoy the birthday. Several times Whitney had to repeat herself, because it was so loud. She was very kind about it. If dining upstairs I would not recommend for a romantic date night. No idea what he looked like, age, like literally nothing. So I told him the whole back story. And Austin assured me that he had my back, that he was committed, if something went off kilter, that I would give him a look and he would understand the assignment. I think Austin even stayed a little past his shift to make sure I was good. And I just want to shout out to Austin on Thursday afternoon working the bar. First of all, you're a Saint. Thank you. I appreciate you. And secondly, you made one of the best mojito's I've ever had. But seriously, Austin, thank you so much!! I also ordered chips and queso. Which was fabulous. My family and I went here today from Easter brunch. I will say we made a reservation and was taken care of as soon as we came in, however we were there about 40 to 45 minutes before our food was on the table. The food was good but room temperature and not really even warm. My daughter got a burger and the bun was soggy when it arrived. Makes you think it had been ready for a little while. The food still tasted good, but not its best and not anything like it has been in the couple of other times we came. I had the Ranch Hand Breakfast. Good but not great! The astetics are still amazing, however so are sunsets on the lake. Im not so sure when I'll come back. I met a Yelp friend for dinner at Haywire as they were hosting their cowgirl dinner including Caesar salad, steak, house fries and a martini (lemon drop) for $30. Usually, food at Haywire is exceptionally good. Tonight, perhaps due to the mass production of the cowgirl dinner, the quality of the food was sub-optimal. The steak was rubbery and hard to eat (only ate one piece). The fries were cold when initially served and the replacement fries were not hot either. The Cesar salad served was not at all like the ceasar salad normally served at Haywire (lettuce was not fresh and crisp). Net, net, I ate very little of my food. I have decided at this stage of my life, if the food is not good, I will not force myself to eat it. The lemon drop martini was nicely prepared and enjoyable to drink. We also ordeedr the crab dip which was nicely prepared. Sergio, our server, occasionally came to our table to check on us, but not to the level that servers at Haywire normally do. Tried the $30 Cowgirl Dinner and it was SO good! The highlights for me were definitely the buttermilk biscuits. you can tell they make them in-house, and I'm literally still thinking about them. Probably my favorite thing on the table! The salad was just okay (wished there was a little more to it), but overall the whole meal came together really well. The special was a play on the viral "girl dinner" trend and Hayward's version is steak, mini caesar, fries and a lemon drop ($30) myself and two friends came tonight to catch up and enjoy what was supposed to be a good meal. Let's start with the good. This place is beautiful and very well decorated! Wonderful place for a date night or meeting friends. Now onto the food. To be honest it was awful. The steak was rubbery and didn't taste like real meat.. the fries were good but so are McDonald's fries. I would be concerned if even the fries weren't made well...The salad was not fresh. On top of that our waiter was rude. The lemon drop arrived to me less than half way full although it was good. I can see the potential, but it's so shameful that service was crummy and the food I tried tonight was lackluster. Southern with a Domain twist. Haywire feels like a fun, lowkey spot to grab drinks or a meal at while still being central to shops and other places in The Domain. Parking is easy to find with a small garage around the corner or the much larger red garage right down the street. We made a reservation for 4, which we were seated about 10-15 minutes late. The place was very packed and workers were moving quickly but being late for your reservation on the restaurant's fault is a ding for us. When we were seated we ordered quickly and our waitress was nice, giving us details about her growing up in Louisiana. We ordered the chicken fried steak with sides of brussel sprouts and creamy cajun corn and also a double cheeseburger with mac and cheese and onion rings. The chicken fried steak was good but the breading was very light, falling apart with every cut into it. The flavor was still very good though. The sides of creamy cajun corn and brussel sprouts were fantastic, popping with flavor and texture. The cheeseburger was also a hit, well balanced and savory. The mac and cheese and onion rings were similarly well received. We were brought out a special birthday dessert of whiskey bread pudding that was the hit of the night for everyone. It was moist and sugary, such a good way to end a savory meal. The only hiccup during service was one of our party members' burgers coming with the wrong toppings, which they corrected by quickly preparing a new one. Despite that, Haywire is one of the better dinner options in The Domain. From its atmosphere to food and service, it touches on all the things necessary to have a good time. Considering its look and location the prices are also fair and warrant a serious look for anyone looking for a higher end date night or dinner. Let me start by saying we must have had the worst table in the entire place. I'm talking about the kind of table where you start questioning your life choices... like how did we end up here? It definitely took away from the experience at first. But then the brunch showed up... and just like that, all those negative emotions packed their bags and left. Since our party was large, during reservation a card was required to be put on file with a minimum spend of $660 plus tax and a 20% gratuity, which honestly wasn't hard to meet. Separate checks weren't available; the options were one card or up to four cards split evenly. The food was delicious and the service was great. For starters, we ordered the vaquero shrimp and the lump crab dip for the table both were excellent. I had the redfish with mashed potatoes, which was good, though I wish it had a bit more seasoning. I had a nice time with a group of ladies. Our server, Michelle, was very sweet and friendly. Our food came out promptly. We came for the Cowgirl dinner and I thought it was great. I ordered medium rare but it came out a little bit more rare BUT it tasted really good so I have no complaints about the food. The fries were also very good. The salad could use some attention though. It's a big restaurant with a parking garage next door. I was able to get a spot but you know, Domain, you may have to go to a different lot and walk. The only issue I had was the large table behind us were screeching at the top of their lungs. I think they were all drunk deaf and yelling and screeching. It gave me a headache and we left as soon as possible to get away from them so we had no time to talk and chat during our dessert or afterwards. We had to go outside. The restaurant fills up fast and was pretty full so noise level is an issue even without the group of screeching ladies behind us. read more

This was my second time eating at Haywire, and we're officially huge fans. We had a reservation, which was a very good thing because it was a packed house. The entryway was full of people trying to snag a table, but we were seated within two minutes. We were placed in a side room on the first floor, which had a different vibe from upstairs but was just as enjoyable. I really love how accessible this restaurant is, and the decor has a chic, cowboy feel that works well. Our waiter was friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable about the menu. He also recommended the Haywire Old Fashioned, made with a Texas-sized pour. It has specialty blended whiskeys, simple syrup, and Angostura bitters, and it did not disappoint. The menu offers a nice variety of options. We ordered the chef's favorite four again, and everyone loved it. Special shoutout to the elk tacos. I had planned to order the ribeye this time but then spotted a newer dish you don't see everywhere, the barbacoa stroganoff. I'm so glad I did because it was so good, no, great! We also ordered the chicken fried steak, though it came out as chicken fried chicken. We didn't say anything since it was still a solid entree. The low and slow chicken was another good choice. For dessert, we shared the whiskey bread pudding, which I love. We were there celebrating my birthday, and while the manager did stop by the table to wish me a happy birthday, there wasn't a complimentary dessert or extra. The biggest challenge of the night was parking. We went on a Saturday, and the Domain was extremely crowded. My husband dropped us off at the restaurant and had to park really far away. I came here for brunch on Saturday right at open so it wasn't crowded at all. Service overall was great with our server checking in on us and refilling our waters regularly. As for the food, there were so many great options on the menu. - Kolaches and Queso (5/5) - This one caught me by surprise. I didn't expect it to taste as good as it did. - Mini Elk Tacos (3/5) - I was a bit underwhelmed by this dish. I was excited to try elk but it tasted pretty much like ground beef with not much flavor. I think a creamier sauce would've elevated the tacos a bit. - Wagyu Pastrami Hash (5/5) - Wow this was incredible. The wagyu was delicious and the portion size was large enough for me to have leftovers. The Texas Farm Raised Redfish dish is the first entree that I've had there and I've been coming back for it ever since. The restaurant is a large space with two full bars (one upstairs and one downstairs). There are dining areas on each floor and what looked to be a private dining area for large parties. If I can't switch the side item to what I would prefer, your mandatory side item should blow my mind! I finally decided to try Haywire. I had to wait over an hour. I highly recommend doing a reservation! My waitress was friendly. The ambiance is nice and this place is pretty busy. The upstairs area is nice as well. The bars on both floors were packed with no room to spare. The menu is just the right size and not too much going on . I ordered the lady bird drink and it was about bursting with flavor without the extra syrup. Got my entree I got the Texas Red fish. The Texas Red fish had shrimp with lump crab, a sauce, mashed potatoes, and a citrus salad. I asked the waitress could I switch my salad to brussel sprouts and he told me that I could. He came back to my table and said that I couldn't. If a dish is $35, I should be able to switch my side out with something I prefer. I got my dish and saw the mashed potatoes first. The salad was so tiny with 3.5 ingredients. The salad added nothing to the dish, that is why I wish I would've had my brussel sprouts. The lump crab was minimal and I had another 3 shrimp. For $35, this dish could've been prepared better. The taste wasn't bad. My issue is the quantity. If I can switch my side, please do better with your selection! The only reason why I don't give them 5 stars is because we ordered 3 rounds of drinks and they were delayed in bro gong the drinks to us in 2 occasions. I went here with a party of 11. We made reservations and were seated on the second floor. This place is huge with a lot of seating. I really like the decor. The ceilings are painted with a lot of western cowboy settings. The tables and chairs felt really solid and nice dimly lit mood lighting. Service was really good. Food came out relatively fast. We ordered a bunch of appetizers. I tried the elk tacos and it was delicious. Also, probably one of the biggest onion rings I've ever had. The pork burnt ends were really good too. The chips and queso were also very good. Then I had the 13 ounce New York strip steak, medium rare and it was so tasty. I got a side of brussels sprouts and it had good flavor as well. They have the open kitchen concept with I really like. Those folks back there were working hard to pump out food. First, if you're coming for dinner, I strongly recommend you make a reservation. I think you can walk in and the staff is very accommodating but you may have to wait. Luckily, my friend made a reservation and we were promptly sat. Our server was top notch from start to finish. She was attentive and checked on us frequently. Our group ordered the Chef's "Favorite 4" which consisted of onion rings, queso blanco and chips, mini elk tacos, and friend green tomatoes. Everything was delicious with exception to the tacos because I didn't eat them. I had to leave a little room for my ribs platter which was a good call because they almost covered my entire plate. The ribs were delicious once I went around a thick dry chunk. I swapped the mac and cheese side with tallow fries which felt dry like they'd been sitting around for a minute. Ordered an espresso martini and a blackberry whiskey drink. Both were good, nothing to write home about but solid drinks nonetheless. We were pleasantly surprised by the portions of our meal- especially for a restaurant in Austin. We started off with the appetizer sampler, which comes with an onion ring tower, fried green tomatoes, elk tacos and queso and chips. My favorite was the green tomatoes, followed by the giant onion ring. Definitely good to split with like 6 people. Decided to meet up with a friend for dinner and we decided on Haywire as this would be a new place to try for both of us. Honestly we were surprised by how great the food was. Our server and the experience went well. Our server was prompt, made sure to ask about any allergy info and checked on dishes for us because of my nut allergy. I was really impressed and appreciated the effort to make sure there wasn't cross contamination. We skipped apps and went straight for entres and wine. The wine pour was fair. For entrees, I had the blackened catfish and shrimp. My friend got the stroganoff and was a big fan. Both entrees were generously portioned and came out well seasoned. Alcohol ordered, and then we watch the bartender in the cowboy hat do nothing for about 10 minutes. We inquired and our server had to basically ask for our drinks. That's when he finally made them. Entrees incoming; BTW our server has been keeping up with drink refills and even snagged another glass of wine for my mom. An expeditor has served us but has failed to ask if there was anything she could get for us. Another 10 minutes to get salt/pepper, butter, and jam to the table. I mean we're at brunch Haywire peeps. Not hard to think these items would be asked for especially when there's a biscuit and extra cornbread sitting on the table. The Crab Cake Benedict was artfully presented and packed good flavor. We took our parents here for Christmas Eve and it couldn't have been more perfect. The smell of beef tallow in the air starts making your tummy grumble as soon as you walk in. The atmosphere is classy and Texan all wrapped into one. Wear you boots and hats if you dine here and you will fit right in! ALL of the staff we encountered were super helpful and friendly and after dinner we went on a tour of all the different rooms. This restaurant is much bigger than it seems, so it was fun to explore. The appetizer we chose to start with was fried green tomatoes, and they were the perfect amount of crunchiness- the tomatoe its self was thick and juicy! Between our guests we ate steaks, chicken fried steak, some cocktails and finished with their bread pudding. I for one have never actually gone out to dinner on Christmas Eve, but needed a break from cooking this year. I think this may be a new tradition for us as we were all treated so kindly and the food was 10/10! Must love meat as their fry oil is beef tallow, which I can appreciate for eating healthier. Haywire is solid. There is a good variety here, and nice bar menu. I had the double cheeseburger, which was gooey with cheese. Also tried the fried green tomatoes. Next time I come, will have to try the local meat and cheese board. Looks like it would fill me up witha cold one. read more

This is my favorite restaurant and as somebody with autoimmune issues, I am so thankful they don't use seed oils. You can really taste the difference in their fries. read more
