Dinner June 14 2026, Wedge salad not available, how is it possible to not have the most common lettuce "iceberg" on the planet? After being forced into the Cesar salad, it was over dressed by a lot. Raw oyster tray never removed, in fact nothing finished was ever removed, food came, but runner had no where to place the entree's. Food runner was "selling" the entrees, meaning he had no idea where each plate went, very poor service for a restaurant trying to pass itself has upscale. Prime rib plate came with a side of mashed potatoes that were lukewarm and had spent quite some time in the dish as they were quite hard, the prep cooks also forgot to peel the damn things. The only reason to serve unpeeled potatoes is pure laziness. If I wanted to eat the peel of a potato I would order a baked one. Green beans were also barely warm. Prime rib was meh. Overall was very disappointing meal at a place calling it self the #1 steakhouse. read more

Place had great vibes with live music and lake views. The musicans were outstanding, playing a variety of classics and there was plenty of outdoor and patio seating with a cozy, long fire pit. A couple things that docked this place right out the gates was that they had no beer on draft (apparently it's been gone since Covid), and there's a $10 split plate charge. As far as the food quality goes, I found it to be quite mixed. The crab cake appetizer was outstanding, slightly crispy packed with flavor. The stuffed avocado was awful, poorly presented and just looked like a handful of ingredients were slopped together, super heavy on the bbq sauce and the pork was cold. The bread they start you with is the best you'll have, so soft it feels like you're eating g a cloud. The filet mignon medium rare was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of seasoning and char, was easily one of the best steaks I've ever had. Chewing was effortless, and bite melted in my mouth. The lettuce in the wedge salad was nice and cold, though a bit drenched with the tossed dressing, served in a chilled bowl. The ribs had a nice smokey flavor, not quite fall off the bone but still had some tender pieces. The scallops were way too salty but the bed of rice it was served with was creamy and delicious. As far as deserts go, the butter cake took the cake. It was warm, soft with a huge scoop of ice cream on top. The chocolate cheesecake is huge, kind of like a mini cake, and was also very popular. It could easily be shared across 4-5 people. The service had its ups and downs. I wasn't too happy about them needing to be flagged down for water refills. Our server spilled two full drinks on a couple people in our party, but he was very apologetic and immediately brought a load of napkins out. I was a bit bothered that a couple of the remaining $18+ cocktails on the tray that were partially spilled were still served and charged to the bill, especially since most of the cocktails were light pours to begin with. The Manhattan tasted like it was made by an amateur bartender, made with way too way too much bitters which completely masked the bourbon. We were scheduled to have a brunch at Steiner Ranch Steakhouse overlooking scenic Lake Travis. We had an all-you-can-eat buffet. First, as you drive up the hill to reach Steiner Ranch Steakhouse you take in the beauty of the Texas hill country. Steiner Ranch Steakhouse sits at the top of the hill with scenic panoramic views. The building has a country feel with a Santa hanging off a pole on the outside entryway. Also, on the side of this building is their XS smokehouse. When you walk inside you experience true Texas flare - from the saddles sprinkled throughout the restaurant to Texas furniture and wall hangings. At the entry, in the spirit of the holidays, was giant cowboy toy soldier. It certainly embraces the theme that we do everything big in Texas. The food...the buffet is divided into four main sections 1) made to order omelets (beware: no egg whites) and carving station (ham, turkey, pork) 2) Main entree - mash potatoes, King casserole, meat balls, breads, etc. 3) Breakfast foods - pancakes, biscuits, gravy, eggs, migas, bacon, shrimp, etc. and 4) fruit, desserts, french toast, etc. Buffets are not ideal for me. The restaurant itself is spacious, with a great outdoor area overlooking the Steiner Ranch neighborhood. But a couple of things kept the experience from being flawless--minor annoyances rather than deal breakers. First, the dining room is very dark. I'm all for ambiance, but our table didn't even have a candle, which may explain why the menu is backlit. Second, for a restaurant this large, having essentially single-use restrooms feels mismatched. I had to wait in line twice, and it wasn't even a particularly busy evening. The dish would have been much better if the buffalo sauce was served on the side with the gorgonzola dressing. The excess sauce on the quail legs made the breading soggy, not crisp. NY strip and grilled snapper entrees were both very good. Steak was cooked perfectly, the fish was a nice size, adorned with a nice portion of lump crab. Sautéed mushrooms were delicious. Attended a private team dinner on the third floor of the restaurant, Cameron our event manager was fantastic and went over the history of the property and the locally sourced meat at the restaurant. The dinner was well prepared but the servers/bartenders were not attentive and did not explain any of the items being served. Called at 6pm to get reservations on patio for 7:15. Was informed that no tables would be available until 7:45 but that we could come and wait in case something opened up. We ordered wedge salad but was brought a bowl of Boston lettuce with wedge salad topping. When I told waiter it didn't look like a wedge salad, he said they had stopped using iceberg lettuce for the wedge salad. Ugh? If I had been informed of that up front, I wouldn't have ordered WEDGE salad! I didn't taste a single bit of lobster in the mediocre lobster and macaroni dish. The mojito was ok. At the end of our meal, we were informed that there was a minimum of $50 per person meal on weekends to eat on patio and that we should have been informed during the reservation. We were not. Our total bill was $75 so I guess we're going to have to eat/drink more and order dessert. We eat out a lot at well established restaurants all over the US. Absolutely stunning views- we have to start there! We somehow managed to sit on the glassed-in patio with a beautiful view of Lake Travis. As the sun set and the storm rolled in, the view was magical! I have to mention that they don't have valet parking, and they NEED it desperately. Once the small upper lot is full, you have a long, steep and very dark journey to a lower parking lot that also has zero lights. Not safe in any aspect. Thankfully, it wasn't raining when we left or we would have been drenched and could have easily slipped going down the hill. Parking matters, folks! The filet was tender with very little seasoning. I usually like a good beef seasoning but allowing the flavor of the meat to come through first was genius! The baked potato was perfectly cooked and loaded. My friend enjoyed his wedge salad- the small size is HUGE! He ordered the medallions and said the flavors were exceptional in every way. My friend enjoyed his cocktail and wine. How can we get steakhouses on board with alcohol-removed wine? I really miss having a glass of wine with my dinner but can't tolerate alcohol anymore. Such a bummer! In short, the experience was wonderful- but be prepared to hike to the restaurant or hire a driver for doorstep service. Brunch staff needs better training. Made Mother's Day brunch reservations 30 days before and asked to be seated outside and they said fine. It was a party of 8. We arrived for our reservation (ahead of time) and checked in. At no point did the staff indicate it would be a long wait. We stood in the lobby and waited and after 15 min past our reservation time I asked when we'd be seated and the front desk staff indicated we were 3rd to be seated. Still at this time no one stated that the patio was first come first serve. I inquired again 25 min past our reservation time as was told that it was first come first serve. I understood and let them know that at no point from when I made the reservation till just now, has anyone said that. I then asked to be seated immediately anywhere and they said they would seat us immediately. Finally 50 min after we arrived did we get seated. Next is the mandatory tip for a buffet due to the party of 8. This is absolutely crazy as the wait staff just brought our drinks and took our plates. While the food was good, the service was quite poor especially for a more upscale restaurant. We had a reservation and were not seated until 20 minutes past our reservation time. This is despite having several open tables all around us. We placed our order, and waited, waited, waited while watching other larger tables seated after us receive their food. Not what you're expecting when you spend over $100 per person on food and wine for a birthday dinner. The food was good and steak was well-prepared.
