Phenomenal. The sushi/udon is the best I've had in Austin. Huge servings, incredibly reasonable prices, and wonderful service. The seating area is spacious with large tables. Cute decorations around the restaurant. They serve complimentary cheesecake at the end of your meal as well. You can't get much better than that!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

It's been awhile since I have been here, but they seem to still be doing well. The food was good just like my previous visits. I had Yaki-soba. Which literally means fried noodles. They were stir fried with fresh veggies. For an appetizer I had 2 pieces of tuna nigiri. The fish portion was quite large and hid or drapped the rice ball it sat upon. They have both regular and low sodium soy sauce, always a plus! Again my meal was oiishi (delicious). Our server was very nice and worked well with us not rushing our order even though he was quite busy. Like I said previously, Maru is not fancy but it is comfortable. The only issue I have is leaving. The parking lot is basically on the side of the road (Burnett Road), so when you back out you are backing into the road. It is still worth the visit, so try it out.

    Chirashi sushi

Just had the best Chirashi sushi that I've had in a long time. There was so much and a variety of sashimi on it. It was unbelievable. Friendly mom and pop restaurant.

This man makes miracles happen. This sushi is so amazing and high quality. Large pieces of fish too. The service is great and you are always greeted with a smile. I'm coming for Valentine's Day.

If you're looking for thick cuts of fish, then this place is for you! Generous portion of fish and rice. They didn't need to add a lot of sauce and toppings because the main focus is the quality of the fish. I didn't like the toro so much, it wasn't too fatty but the salmon nigiri was so amazing! I definitely will be back to try more rolls. The meal was very filling, we left very happy. The owners were very cute and sweet. Service was a bit slow but not their fault at all! There was only one waiter and he really tried his best. He was still checking in on us as much as he could. Cute little mom and pop shop vibe, lowkey, just the way I like it.

SO GOOD. The women serving us was so warm and kind. The food was amazing with very reasonable prices. Will be back.

Really cute mom and pop sushi restaurant. Prices are expensive but the portion sizes are massive for rolls and you definitely get what you paid for. Dinner gets kind of crowded and since it's only a few people running the restaurant, be prepared for slow service. It's a cozy store that's perfect for conversation if you aren't in a rush. Parking in front may be a struggle but there's plenty of street parking available that's probably easier to back out of than the ones on burnet.

Excellent local sushi establishment This is not fancy/upscale sushi , and neither is it strip-mall genera-sushi. It's run by a couple who've been here for a while, the fish is prepared with live, the quality is good, the owners give a damn, and all in all, you will always leave happy. So yeah, recommended!

This place is super underrated!!! This is definitely a must go! I will be back! They are run by an old couple that care about their quality and are super generous with the amount of fish they give in each bite!! I absolutely loveeeee this place and will definitely be back!!!

First time ordering rolls for to go! Usually eating sushis here, J.J bomb has a quite a kick! I loved the spiciness! Also rainbow roll and a shrimp crunchy roll were good as well ;) Such a good deal with good service! The packaging was very stable and secure too. Recommended!

Fish is fresh so fresh it melts in your mouth. Tiny hole in the wall run by a wife and husband - and that's it. Please be patient with them because how much can 2 people actually do. I came in near the end of the night and we were the only table left but the wife was super friendly trying to make conversation with us. I must recommend this spot because it is definitely a hidden gem with an excellent combo deal. All the more boujee spots around Austin can't compete with this mom and pop authentic feel of a sushi restaurant!

This is such a cute mom and pop restaurant. It's hard to find authentic Japanese food and Austin so it's nice to have found this place. The lady there was super sweet and even offered to watch my baby while we ate. We ordered a chirashi bowl and it was pricey ($39) but it was GIANT! Could probably feed 2. Quality of the fish was also decent. The Age Tofu appetizer is good but nothing to rave about. Will come back again and try some rolls next time.

The intimate, speakeasy setting is such a vibe! Hidden behind a bookcase tucked away in Holey Moley, Chef Saine and his small team bring you an incredible 14-course experience with top-tier ingredients sourced directly from local farmers in Japan. With only 6 seats per session, this is a cozy experience and one I definitely could not recommend more. QUICK FACTS: - Parking? Yes, located in East Austin, there is plenty of street parking. - Reservations can be tricky to land, but you can grab weeknight ones if you're flexible. - Pricing is about $170/person, with the option to add on drinks and extra bites (3 extra for $45/person). Tax and tip not included. My favorite bites were the maguro blue fin (an incredible start to the night!), the buttery Kanpachi amberjack, and the Wagyu ribeye with salted egg yolk (steak and eggs). Everything is stellar, and the Belgium chocolate ice cream finish with a little serenading from Chef is a great way to wrap up the experience. Service is top notch!

The Edamame - which were charred in a way that I feel like I've never experienced it before and had such great flavor. 2. The scallop roll had a thinly sliced shaved truffle on top that made the roll simple yet out of this world. Shout out to the manager who came by just to check in.
