This is my first time ever going to wrong anywhere and it was good. The staff was friendly place was clean. No major complaints. However, I prefer Pho over Ramen for my liking. It was good no issues.

Overall: 3.8/5 [takeout] We ordered late night delivery from Ramen Tatsu-Ya and it arrived in under an hour. The food was nicely packaged with no spillage, and I appreciated that the ramen came with heating instructions. The one thing I noticed is that the takeout portions lean a bit heavier on rice than on protein and toppings. Negi Rice Bowl ($7.50): Scallion, fried onion, rendered pork, and sesame seeds. We did not really taste the pork but the overall flavor of the rice bowl was really good. I think it would be even better paired with an additional protein. Chashu Rice Bowl ($10.50): This felt like it was lacking umami and the chashu was not juicy or fatty. Instead, the pork belly was a bit overcooked and dry. It was much better in person so don't order it for takeout. Texas Tonk Ramen ($20.75): Pork bone broth, BBQ brisket, smoked and pickled jalapeño, fermented takana mustard greens, thunder oil, and ajitama. This sounded like such a strange combo, and we were on the fence about ordering it but decided to just go for it. My husband did not like it but I actually did. The flavors worked better than expected and everything came together surprisingly well. The jalapeño was the most interesting element, tender with some structure, spicy, and a bit acidic all at once. I would not order it again but it is definitely worth trying at least once.

Delicious ramen! I had the Texas Tonk ramen and it lives up to being a very Texas vibe of ramen. Brisket, ramen, yum! The OG is a solid and flavorful ranen more like a traditional tonkotsu. Also tasty! Finally brisket "pockets" were a great, cheezy, briskety gyoza style appetizer. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambience here is very Japan and lovely![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service super fast. Definitely a must go Austin location.

The service is quick and [[HIGHLIGHT]]I like the interior of the restaurant[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Flavor wise, this place is just okay. They don't put enough noodles inside and the broth is greasy and a little bland as well.

This place was recommended as a good ramen spot and it had some good ramen. You place your order and then you're seated. We opted to sit outside and there was a bar out there as well as inside. I got the Sho-Yu ramen ($14) and it was delicious. My only complaint was that there wasn't enough broth. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It got crowded really fast but the outdoor area was nice[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and the bartenders recommended some good options based off our preferences.

Back again, we are hear a year ago and really liked it so we came back. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is really cool, nice setup and decor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food is priced okay, not cheap but not overpriced. The ramen itself is bomb! I had the spicy ramen, not really spicy at all, I had to order a "spice bomb." Kinda wack that they charge for spice but it definitely made the meal way better. We will be back. Parking in a Friday night anywhere near 6th street is tough, luckily we found parking behind the restaurant. The service could be a little less edgy, smile and be courteous, you might like it.

Ramen here consistently hits the mark. The broth is rich and well balanced, noodles are cooked perfectly, and every bowl feels dialed in. Easily a go to spot when you want ramen that delivers every time. My fave is Curry Nu skool and I'm not even Vegan/Veg They also do drinks right. The draft Kirin is always cold and crisp, and the house hot sake is surprisingly good and smooth, especially on cooler nights. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Chill, laid back vibe overall.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The outdoor seating is a big + and the heaters make it comfortable even when it's cold out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great spot for a relaxed dinner or casual night out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Delicious steamy ramen and strong, creative cocktails? What's not to love. This is the go-to spot for ramen in Austin. I've been here easily a dozen times at this point, and I've been able to enjoy new specials pretty regularly so it's never a boring experience.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Stopped by Ramen Tatsu-Ya last night to celebrate a birthday with some loved ones and had a really nice, low-key evening.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We chose to dine outside, and even for an early Saturday night it was surprisingly quiet and relaxed, which set the tone perfectly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Ordering at the bar was smooth. The bartenders were friendly, accurate, and genuinely helpful, which always makes a difference. We also started with an order of the katsu sliders, and they were a great way to kick things off: tasty, juicy, and full of flavor. Definitely a solid appetizer choice. For ramen, my partner in crime and I went with our usual favorites. I ordered the OG ramen and added a corn bomb, beni shoga, and tofu. The broth was still as rich and flavorful as ever, and the corn bomb added a great depth that really enhanced it. My PIC opted for the Mi-So-Hot and loved it! The heat really came through and delivered exactly what he was hoping for. The only slight letdown was the chashu in my bowl, which was a bit thinner and drier than I've had here in the past. It stood out mainly because I know how good it can be. Thankfully, the rest of the bowl held up well. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Between the calm outdoor seating, great service, and consistently solid broth, the ambience and overall experience were spot-on.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Still a reliable choice for ramen nights, especially when you're looking for something relaxed but satisfying.

Whoever is giving this place anything less than 5 stars, go give your mom a hug because you can't appreciate reliability and real soul. Every person who has visited me while I've lived in ATX has loved this spot and asked to comeback. The broth is so creamy and delicious that my mouth is watering writing this. My only complaint is that I wish they had split off tables instead of cafeteria styled seating because I always feels so close to other people and can't really have a one on one conversation with friends here because I'm damn near sitting on someone else's lap. But that's the price I'm willing to pay for their ramen. It's that good.

    Gyoza was a 10/10

The place has that lively, cozy ramen shop energy that makes you feel like you're in Tokyo (even though I've never been). Service was friendly and quick, and the staff clearly know their menu well. I ordered the Mi So Hot ramen, and while it definitely had great flavor, it was way spicier than I expected. The guy helping me order said it wasn't that spicy, but it was honestly so hot that it was hard to really enjoy the broth and toppings. If you love heat, you'll probably be in heaven, but if you're more of a medium-spice person, I'd recommend something milder. The gyoza dumplings were pretty solid and deserve 5 stars on their own!

Reliable rayman. The broth is consistently good. I'm usually not a fan of their spicy ramen or similar kind just because they put loose corn and ground beef in there. Which made me question........WAT? All the other ramens are good. The texas tonk was a limited time selection. Costed a bit more but had a pretty nice smoky flavor to it. There is a nice outdoor seating connected the sister bar. Overall it's a nice fast place with all good walk nearby. Staff is always nice and helpful on selections.

Ramen Tatsuya has gone down in quality since i've been in college. On our recent return, we were pretty dissatisfied with the meal overall. I ordered my go-to the shoyu and my husband ordered the tsukamen (his usual go to here). Both bowls were too salty. My ramen broth was not very emulsified and there was a layer of oil on top. The noodles were still pretty bouncy and chewy. We also ordered our long time favorite- the brussels sprouts here, but even this app has decreased in quality. They peel off each layer of the brussels now, so the dish is just flaky crunchy pieces instead of whole sprouts. I didn't really enjoy the texture that much, especially because there was no contrast, just crunch. It was pretty messy and hard to eat. Overall, I don't think I will come back again. Some things are better left in sweet memories, and ramen tatsuya is one of those places.

Ramen Tatsu-Ya Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Ramen Tatsu-Ya

How busy does it get on Friday nights?

It definitely fills up. You do order at the counter though, so that speeds up the process significantly. There are also multiple areas to sit, and turnover is usually quick!

Are there any soy free options?

Our only soy-free option will be the Gluten Free Original Tonkotsu, which comes without the tare, chashu and ajitama. For toppings, the following are soy-free: parmesan, garlic, nori, beni shoga, corn, kikurage, scallions, and the yuzu bomb. We are…

Did y'all get rid of the tsukemen dipping ramen?

Yes. Its not on the menu at least for Lakeline and the one beside Kemuri. I didn't visit other stores

Do they have happy hour and if so what times?

We do not have a happy hour at this time.

Are the portion sizes for takeout ramen the same as when eating in?

Yes, they are the same, very large portion that's about 2 meals for me.

Do they take reservations? I don't see the option on Yelp or their website and I can't call.

Yes, visit their website. Just search for the restaurant name.

Is this place ever not crowded? Serious question?

Just the same as any restaurant, if you go during peak hours it'll be busier. It's rare that I wait more than 5 minutes at any Ramen Tatsu-Ya location. Just go before noon, between 2-6pm, or after 9pm.

Do you offer gluten free noodles? 😋

    No. They sub rice

Do they have a terrace ? I have a dog with me do they allow dogs?

    No they do not :(

Not sure if anyone reads this, but I'll comment anyways…read more I went here with my husband and overall enjoyed it. I've been here 3 times now. I enjoyed it enough to come back a few times and will come back again. In the spirit of constructive criticism, here is what I have to say, just a few things to note though: The bar is not a real bar. It's just another table, but looks like a bar. The bar doesn't actually function like you'd expect a bar to function. Not a dealbreaker, but a bit misleading. You still get a server, can't seat yourself at the bar, etc. Might as well just sit at a table then. If someone reads this, I'd highly suggest at least considering making the bar function like a real bar! The tables are very close together. I know the place is small so this isn't something you can really change without losing money by reducing the amount of tables, but boy they are packed close. This is more something that maybe customers would like to know though. Management is all white, but the sushi chefs are Japanese. The servers are mostly white too. Not that this is a problem, but it does strike me as a little bit surprising and ever so slightly off-putting. At least, it makes me question what's going on initially. I know supposedly the owners are Japanese, per their website, but it might be nice to see more Japanese people in charge, at a Japanese place. The bussers look to be the hardest working kids out there. I hope they get paid fairly. Every time I've been there, they're the ones rushing around as fast as they can, cleaning up tables all over the place. I'm surprised they only have a couple of them, when they have way more servers. Not sure if this is normal, but they seem to be working really hard. There is no "Happy Hour", Google lied. Google has on their page that they have a happy hour when you look up this place. Turns out they don't. The servers are a little bit loud and rowdy sometimes. I know they all look to be in their mid to early 20's, but it might get to be a bit much. When they go back into their little corner or "hideout" they seem to be screaming and talking really loudly sometimes. Also, they like to scream "CORNER" constantly. I get that this might be a thing they do, to avoid crashing into each other, but there's no need to scream it across the entire building. Especially when it is quiet already. Speaking of screaming, when you walk in, they scream (I looked up what it is so forgive me if this is a typo): IRASHAIMASE (which apparently is "welcome in" in Japanese. The thing is, instead of making it a classy, cute thing they do, they scream it as obnoxiously as they can, like junior high kiddos would scream "67" these days. It went from cute, to annoying after about the 3rd time I heard them do it, while I was eating. If they all said it in a pleasant classy way, I would really like it, although it's become really quite obnoxious. It even looks like some of the employees are over it. I can't imagine how many times they do that daily. Lastly, the music does not match the atmosphere at all. One time I went in, they had rock music on, the next, they had country. The last time I went, they had 80's. They should either have classical or wordless music such as jazz, or some kind of Japanese music. Not sure why they have such out-of-place music. My most previous server was a doll! I also hope the servers get paid. Some of them weren't as friendly, but I won't rag on individual people, as they may have been just having a bad day. The most previous one had pink hair though and was super cute and friendly. As for another good thing, the ambiance and food are definitely above average and the prices don't break the bank. Overall, quite enjoyable place. None of the things I mentioned should make you avoid this place by any means. This is mostly for the staff and management to fix a few things, if they care. That is it! Hopefully someone at least reads this. Not sure if managers actually read these reviews though. If not, oh well. Hope this helps someone one day!

We got one Austin roll ($22), volcano roll ($15), creamy spicy tan tan ramen ($20), teriyaki sesame tofu yakisoba ($20). I have had their sushi and yakisoba but tried their ramen for first time. I was impressed with their packaging. As you can see in picture, veggies and noodles box was on top and soup at bottom. The only thing I didn't like how noodles became very sticky because of how tight they were packed. So I got it as cold (because I live 30 mins away) and sticky. Ramen came with all the veggies like grilled Chinese broccoli, tofu, sweet corn, marinated shiitake mushrooms, red onions and negi. Yakisoba noodles had the Stir-fried noodles tossed with cabbage, scallion, carrot, marinated shiitake mushrooms, and fragrant negi in a savory house sauce. It was good if you like this type of noodles. Austin roll had Smoked tempeh, tempura tofu, jalapeño, pickles. And on the to Avocado, roasted garlic oil, tempura flakes, smoked paprika, teriyaki. Volcano roll was a deep fried roll which had spinach, avocado, sweet potato. On top: spicy mayo, sweet soy sauce, chili sauce, Caviart and tempura onion. I would say this is the best vegetarian sushi place I've found in Austin. So if you're in search, this wouldn't disappoint you.

Came here to celebrate two birthdays (July 11), and upon being seated, we immediately noticed the…read morerestaurant was exceptionally warm. We asked our server if something was wrong since the AC didn't seem to be working, and behold, she answered yes--they were having AC issues! Thank goodness it wasn't a typical Texas triple-digit day outside. I started with a neat pour of Suntory (whisky), followed by a refreshing lychee martini, the cucumber sunomono, and the pan-seared duck breast for my main dish. We finished off the night sharing the matcha crème brûlée. The food and drinks themselves were great. However, service was a bit slow overall; I had to ask for the status of my main dish and had to flag our server down when we wanted another round of drinks. Decent ambiance considering the circumstances, but I guess this was just their "off night."
