    OG Ramen
    Elvira O.

Ramen Tatsu-Ya is perfect during a cold, winter day-- actually any day of the year is a great day for ramen. The OG ramen with its rich, fatty broth, slurpy noodles, and tender chasu pork warmed my belly and my soul! Order at the front right as you walk in, grab your assigned number and seat yourself. The food comes out quickly and hot.

Man! we made a pit stop in Austin and my kids wanted pho well some boutique nearby recommended this place to us and we decided to stop as a family and try it, why not? It was so good! The service was great really nice as you order when you walk in and then sit down wherever and they bring food to you. My fav was the edamame but I've been on an edamame kick lately . Anyone looking nearby this is a good stop to try out.

A nice rainy, cold weather is perfect for Ramen Tatsu-Ya! The only thing about this location is that parking is terrible when it's busy. They have a couple of paid parking across by Postino's if needed or behind they have street parking too. Can't ever go wrong with the karaage 10/10. It was my first time trying their chili oil gyoza, I just wish they gave more dumplings in the order and less of the toppings. 9/10 I love the MI-SO-HOT (10/10) nice and spicy, but not super spicy just like a nice hint of it. The MI-SO-NOT is a good original flavor if you want to get a good pork bone broth flavor. Overall great place, when it's busy the food does take a while but staff is very friendly they're doing their best!

D E L I S H! You cannot go wrong with Ramen Tatsu-Ya. It feels pretty pricey honestly but you get so much food and it tastes soooo good!! I added a butter bomb which was the perfect touch for the Mi So Not. Service is walk-up and order at the bar, with water you grab from a jug. Everyone was dressed pretty casual on a weeknight so it had a lowkey vibe for sure. So good and I cannot wait to go back!

Walked in and was greeted with a friendly welcome from the staff. Plenty of seating. You go up to place your order and pay. The food came out so fast - probably within 5 minutes! I will say that although there was plenty of food, I wish there was more broth. The broth was pretty low in proportion to the content inside. However, I've heard that's not typical of them from my friend who was with me and has been before. The ramen was satisfying for a quick ramen craving! Would return if I'm craving ramen and am in the area.

Came here for lunch and ordered the tonkotsu ramen with the spicy paste. The paste wasn't super spicy but did add a nice kick to the broth. The chashu was very flavorful and tender! I also really liked the soft boiled egg - creamy yolk and well marinated. The broth was super creamy but the flavor was slightly bland in my opinion and getting the spicy paste helped a lot.

Ramen Tatsu-ya is one of my go-to spots for ramen in Austin every winter! The vegan curry ramen is a creamy with the perfect combination of spices and toppings of vegetables and tofu. I do miss the crispy brussel sprouts that were included by default a few years ago but are now an add-on option for extra $2. You order at the counter and service is fairly quick. The parking lot at this location is small and fills up quickly but additional street parking can be found behind the restaurant.

Pro Tip: Be prepared to wait in line, but not to worry, it does move quickly. The service is certainly efficient and very kind. It's order before sitting. While there is a line for both sit-down and take-out, you have ample time to review the menu before making your order. Fun environment, targeting to younger crowds. Ramen is different, and a mix between typical and its' own style. Most options are Tonkotsu. Flavors were just, okay, in my opinion. Certainly satisfying, if you're looking for something quick and are craving Ramen.

10 out of 10!!!! Came here for a Saturday date night with the most beautiful woman in the world!!! We both had the Curry Nu Skool bowl with a side Karrage. I added a spicy bomb to mine. It was fantastic. The broth, the veggies, the tofu, all amazing. The service was awesome. We were greeted upon entry and given ordering instructions. The seating is open. You can sit inside our outside at your choosing. Definitely check them out!!

Top of pic is the OG ramen with extra egg, so good.

The line went quick. The OG ramen with extra egg was delicious, the eggs were very flavorful with a hint of sweetness that I have never experienced before. I wasn't even that hungry but I ate the entire bowl!

Don't know why but I was craving ramen on a hot Austin day. Haven't had ramen since moving here and heard about this place. Came in and there was quite a line. You order first and sit down and they bring your food. I got the OG with tonkatsu broth and extra Chashu and bamboo shoots. Gf got the spicy miso and we got karaage and gyoza as well. Food came quickly! Karaage was super juicy and flavorful with the sauce and Gyoza was nice and crispy: The ramen was amazing! It wasn't hot inside so it was nice having a warm filling soup. The broth was so flavorful and the pork was soft and delicious. The spicy miso wasn't too spicy and just the right amount of kick. Awesome experience and can't wait to come back.

I had the #1 (with a spice bomb) and the Gyoza (steamed). Overall it was tasty, flavorful, and the perfect amount of heat! The pork was very well done (one of the best I've had in a while). The only issue I really have is I wish they had a little more ingredients in the bowl-- the ratio of broth to ingredients could be a little better. This was my first time and the staff was pretty friendly with helping me decide. It's a chill aesthetic and simultaneously very fast-paced. The time spent from ordering my food to walking out the door was 25 minutes... speedy! They were "on it" in terms of getting the food out quickly, since it's a pretty popular place, but them running around so much can be a little stressful to dine in and observe Overall though, it's worth the visit and tasty food!

    Crawfish Ramen
    Dat L.

Ramen Tatsu-ya, y'all really said "let's turn Mardi Gras into a meal" and I am HERE for it. Walked in expecting ramen. Walked out spiritually adopted by the Bayou. The Crawmen isn't just a bowl. It's a flavor parade, and every spoonful is throwing beads directly at my taste buds. First bite? Boom. Cajun fireworks. That Bayou Butter is so rich I almost asked it for financial advice. The crawfish tails were generous and juicy, like they just got back from a vacation in flavor town and brought souvenirs. And the andouille sausage? It was bold, smoky, and definitely the extrovert of the bowl. The succotash added crunch and color like it was auditioning for a summer salad. And then that lemon wheel came in like the plot twist of a feel-good sitcom. Unexpected but perfect. The tonkotsu broth was like a warm hug from a Southern grandma who also studied in Tokyo. Creamy, spicy, buttery, and comforting in a way that makes you briefly forget your student loans. I caught myself whispering "wow" after every few bites like I was discovering ramen for the first time. Add a flavor bomb if you're feeling wild. I tossed one in and things got emotional. Not gonna lie. And of course, the vibes. Cool decor, friendly staff, and slushies that feel like your inner child is giving your adult self a high five. The Crawmen is seasonal, so treat it like a Texas snowstorm. Rare, intense, and something you tell stories about later. Ten out of ten, would slurp again.

Ask the Community - Ramen Tatsu-Ya

I can eat pork I just prefer not to. Wanting to try the miso hot but are they able to replace the ground pork with tofu?

Unfortunately, the Mi-So-Hot is made with the tonkotsu (pork) broth. The Ol' Skool with no egg and tofu instead of chashu is pork-free, as well as our two vegan bowls - Nu Skool and Curry Nu Skool.

    Tsukemen is gone?

For it seems like a temporary issue. I was under the impression the batch had to be completely remade, but thats just what i saw on the austin subreddit so who knows what might be the true answer here.

How is parking at this location?

Tight, and the parking area is narrow. It is enter only from Lamar, but people sometimes ignore this, making it tighter as they exit through the entrance. And people picking up orders doesn't help matters. Worth it to eat there, but it isn't… Read more

Did the noodles change? Just ordered today and the noodles are different than I remember. I liked the other ones better.

Sure as heck seemed like the same noodles to me!

Do they do to go orders?

Nope. You can bring home some leftovers tho.

Do they have any sort of happy hour?

    2-6 pm $2 House Sake | $3 Specialty Drinks | $3.5 sapporo

Is this ramen with rice noodles or wheat? I was wanting to see if it was gluten free in the noodles. Thank you!

It appears only one menu item is gluten free (a broth) but the staff is really knowledgeable about the menu and can answer questions about specific ingredients

Do they have gluten-free ramen noodles or alternative?

Yes. I got soup without noodles

What is the lunch wait time approximately at 12pm?

Approximately 30-45 minutes. Each group outside will move inside every 5-7 minutes by my estimate. Once you're seated you're food arrives pretty quickly

Is it really loud during dinner?

It tends to be loud but not so loud that it would affect a conversation with friends. I would not take a work date/appointment there for dinner.

Does the brown butter corn have dairy, if not what is the brown butter?

Brown butter is butter that has been cooked down a bit giving it a browned, nutty flavor.

Is it open during the boil notice? I mean you can boil water to make ramen anyways

It was open! The only thing that was different, is if you wanted water you have to buy a $1.50 Ozarka water bottle.

Is this place pretty busy on Friday nights?

It's worth the wait. Line moves pretty fast.

Are there any options for Gluten Free Ramen?

I don't believe they do, they have a gluten free option as a rice bowl

Several review says you order, pay, sit and have the food brought to you? What do you do when you need to order extra food or drinks? Do you have to wait in line again? Or are there servers to take your orders? If so then how do you pay

If you'd like to place an additional order please let one of the servers know, they will get that into the system for you and from there they'll process your payment.

Are there small bowls available for kids?

Yes! They have small, more plan bowls for kids! they are really good!!!

Do they use MSG in their food?

We do not use MSG in our food.

Does anyone know if their noodles are gluten free and their broth dairy free? My friend can have gluten and I can't have dairy. Tried calling the number provided but it's just automated.

Hi Kassandra! All our broths are dairy-free, but unfortunately our noodles are all wheat-based. Our only item with dairy is the Gotcha Matcha, which is on the dessert menu.… Read more

Do you have a vegan broth?

    Yes.

    How spicy is the Mi-So-Hot?

    Not terribly hot.

The flavors were really good and better than the MI-SO-HOT. The only complaint about the broth was that it wasn't warm or hot. The noodles were bouncy and thick like udon, which I loved. They only gave one slice of chashu, which was disappointing, so I'm glad we added the extra Goma Pork/Sesame Seasoned Ground Pork ($2.50) and Naruto Maki ($1.50). Chashu Rice Bowl ($8.50): Good, but not as flavorful or melt-in-your-mouth as last time. #4 MI-SO-HOT (Tonkotsu) ($16): My cousin got this and it was actually bulked out with veggies. It was good, but the flavors weren't anything standout. Not super spicy either, so the heat is very tolerable.

This time it felt watered down, overly bulky from the vegetables, and the overall taste just did not resemble what I remember at all. It felt like a completely different recipe. On top of that, the restaurant was dead at lunch, which was surprising for this place. The inside layout and seating have also been changed, and the space feels less cozy and more awkward than before. The whole vibe is just different. We got one Austin roll ($22), volcano roll ($15), creamy spicy tan tan ramen ($20), teriyaki sesame tofu yakisoba ($20). I have had their sushi and yakisoba but tried their ramen for first time. I was impressed with their packaging. As you can see in picture, veggies and noodles box was on top and soup at bottom. The only thing I didn't like how noodles became very sticky because of how tight they were packed. So I got it as cold (because I live 30 mins away) and sticky. Ramen came with all the veggies like grilled Chinese broccoli, tofu, sweet corn, marinated shiitake mushrooms, red onions and negi.
