My wife and I love this place - we've actually had it three times in the last month or so. Considering we try not to eat out, that's a lot for us. The food is incredible; full of flavor, spice and like no Thai food we've ever had before. I usually opt for the pad ka pow which is a spicy ground pork and sticky rice dish. There's egg and cucumber in there too to offset the heat. The tofu stir fry is also very tasty and less spicy. There's veggies throughout and the tofu is flavorful. I think the main star of the show has to be the mango and sticky rice. The mango is so so good and the warm sticky rice and condensed milk go perfectly with it. The portion sizes of all the dishes are generous which is an added bonus too. My only fault is that all the stir-fry dishes with meat are ground pork (I think) and it'd be great to have something else. Writing this made me want Dee Dee's a lot. If it wasn't closed right now, I'd be on my way. read more

I'm not sure what these other reviewers are talking about but this was definitely not the best Thai food place ever. It was slightly below average at best. Specifically, the tofu stir fry was okay. Avoid the Som Tom at all cost unless you like eating food marinated in ass juice. Literally. Smells. Like. Poop. I would have given it 3 Stars but given that both were $9 and not enough portions, I'm more inclined to giving it 2 stars. But then again, I wouldn't want a greater portion of ass food so thanks for that I guess. The people were super nice so I feel bad for leaving this review. I have been wanting to eat here for soooooo long and I wasn't NOT disappointed! Best insanely good are Pad Ka Pow and mango sticky rice. Sipping a creamy Thai ice tea at the same time you eat spicy food is heavenly X 99. So happy so happy so happy....happy sigh read more

I think this place, like most new food trailers in Austin is a bit overrated. Pros: interesting menus, seemingly good ingredients Cons: way too spicy. My wife couldn't even eat hers. Also, there were bones and cartilage in my chicken. I felt like I nearly broke a tooth on it!! read more

Wow, this place has amazing food. The menu is pretty limited, and I've only had a couple of items, but they were outstanding. As someone who spent about 8 years living in SE Asia, I've had quite a few Thai meals. This does not disappoint. Also great value with servings large enough to have leftovers. The Pad Ka Pow is their best dish. I have been here quite a few times. Generally the food is very good, on the odd occasion when it is very busy the quality lacks. I wish they would take the time they needed to ensure the food is up to standard. I'd rather wait longer and have a better meal, than have the quality suffer. I took half a star off for this. The Thai Iced tea they do is good but incredibly inconsistent, I find that most of the time it is far too sweet, but on the odd occasion they do get it right. I took half a star off for this - I am a big fan of Thai Iced tea, but theirs is often too sweet (I don't remember having it sweeter elsewhere, and I've had it a lot of other places - as well as make my own) They leave the back door and serving window open most of the time, but they don't always keep a screen over them. Given the amount of flies in the spot where they are, this surprises me. I have seen flies enter their truck. I took a star off for this. T-loc's in Burnet keep their serving window screened off when they don't need it open - they even take orders with it closed, and only open it for when they need to take payment, or serve something. All food trucks should do this! The last time I went I got the Pad Ka Pow and there was a hair in it. Short and black. I took a half star off for this. Overall, I give it 2.5 stars. Better attention to detail with the screens, taking their time when its busy, and toning down the sugar level on their tea (which, like I said, they do manage to do occasionally) I'd say this place is a solid 4.5-5 star food truck. This place is great! Note that northern Thai is a different cuisine than the coconut curries that come from the south and which dominate Thai menus here. Love that it's available in an inexpensive, low-key setting like this. I especially like the pad ka prao, which is satisfying in the same way that a cheeseburger can be. I was also surprised by how flavorful the om gai was, and I'd definitely recommend that if you're in the mood for soup. This is the best Thai food in Austin! We love this place and go almost once a week! I usually get the tofu stir fry with veggies and my husband gets the pad Kapow. Both dishes are awesome! The husband and wife that own the food truck are the nicest people ever too! We got there late one night and they were about to close and instead fired the grill back up and made us a few dishes. Was in Austin for a bachelor party and stopped at DEE DEE our last night around closing time. The owners (husband-wife team) are incredibly nice. They were sold out of most items, but we were still able to order Pad Ka Pow and mango rice which were both amazing. We knew the food was going to be good, but were completely blown away. I love this food truck! Beware once you go, you will crave it and have to come back! My favorite is the Pad Ka Pow. The portions are very generous, the food is great and the owners are very friendly. I try to stay off of Yelp, but this place warranted a login to write about. It seems that most Austin Thai places struggle with "balance"--it's either too sweet or too salty---not this place. I had about given up on finding a good Som Tum (spicy papaya salad) here, and then this place came along. It tasted exactly like my Thai aunt makes---perfectly balanced---and PERFECTLY spiced! We also had the Laab Moo (spicy ground pork) which was equally delicious and their sticky rice was perfectly executed. The owners were so friendly and I appreciated hearing about their life in Thailand--even got a suggestion for a place to visit. We seriously contemplated going back for dinner on the same day. Good food and the owners are very nice. But there's no phone number to place an order for pickup. I really hate this because it's usually a 15-20 min wait and the area you have to sit at is typically not very clean and infested with flies. On hot days trying to go get food here is downright miserable. Parking can also be a hassle. I would eat here much more often but it's just so inconvenient. read more

These guys are great! I've been going to them since they opened and back then they were a little slow to get the food out. Now however, they are really rocking and rolling and food comes out at a reasonable time and it is always consistently delicious. I usually get the Pad Ka Pow with extra spice. I really enjoyed the Thai food here! I had the Laab Moo and it was amazing! Oh, and the Sticky Rice dessert! The person taking my order made sure to tell me that it was pretty spicy and that gave me a chance to ask him if he could have the cook hold the spice a little bit. I definitely appreciated that...otherwise, knowing how spicy Thai food can normally be, that might have hurt. My Laab moo came with a glob of sticky rice that was...so good...for all my fellow Cantos out there, the rice had a very 'bouncy' feeling where when you bit into it, gave such a satisfying feeling that gets you coming back for more! It also had the right amount of spices and extras in there that balanced out the meal very well. For the price, we were surprisingly full even though the portion in the box looked so small! For the dessert, just imagine the 'bouncy' rice with coconut milk and sweet ripe mangos and that should give you a good idea of how amazing it was! This place was just amazing! I've definitely had my fair share of Thai food in my life and this was by far the best. It's in an area with la barbecue (which had a really long line) and a Mexican food truck. I ordered the pad ka pow, Thai iced tea, and mango with sticky rice. The pad ka pow was flavorful and delicious from the very first bite to the last. It had just the right amount of spice. I love spicy foods so it was not that spicy in my opinion. My husband, who does not like spicy foods, didn't think it was too spicy either. He loved it as well. The mango and sticky rice was to die for! I couldn't finish it because I had already gorged myself on the pad ka pow. The portions were generous. The Thai iced tea was delicious. Everything here that I bought was delicious! The owners here definitely know what they're doing, and they are very kind. If you're not a fan of spicy foods, they also have the tofu stir fry which I did not have the pleasure of trying. We came around 12:30, and they did not have a line at that time. We did have to wait about 10-15 minutes for the food which was so worth it. It started getting busier as we were leaving.
