THE BIG: Sandwich shop and beer garden located in the Linc shopping center in Central Austin! Medium sized interior with a big outdoor seating area with a stage for live music. Plenty of parking (albeit very narrow) in the lot. THE BLACK AND WHITE: I've been to Easy Tiger a couple of times and now just getting to review it. This spot is easily a good failsafe bet in having a good time and connecting. Very central in Austin and right off of I35. I'm always intrigued by the Texas reuben and almost always get that. The wife got the smoked turkey sandwich w/ avocado. Both are great to be honest and you can see the fresh sourdough bread they make in house for the sandwiches. Almost a year since my last review and this place still continues to be a go-to spot in the ever-evolving Linc complex. In recent months they've revamped their menu (especially the adult bevs), improved the offering process and added indoor / outdoor TVS which were a nice touch during the World Cup. However, the brownie was really dry - seemed to a a few days old, and the drink was just OK. They indicated it would be made with a mix so that probably my bad. My friend had a couple of beers and another dessert but his feedback was the same. I would have liked to stay longer and come back on another night to see if my first visit was an anomaly. They have a great outdoor space and beautifully decorate indoor space. They're trying a lot of things - coffee shop with a bakery, dining restaurant, beer hall with craft beers. It's frustrating because this place had so much potential, but whatever changes corporate made clearly weren't for the better. I will start by saying at the height of its greatness, this place was 5 stars. I've been coming here for something like 7 years. Back then, Austin needed a bakery so badly that easy tiger was a standout savior. Fresh bread (still great today!) and pastries were so welcome. At some point after Covid, quality started slipping. Pastries weren't changing. The croissants were soft with no crunch. The chicken schnitzel which is used to be thin had turn into a thick blob basically a giant chicken nugget. The pretzels I always loved tasted stale like they baked them and left them sitting under heat lamps for hours. Sandwiches tasted noticeably worse. Still, we continued to come here. And then they were sold in the last year. New owners and what's the first thing they do? Fix issues? No that would be hard. They raised prices. A LOT. Coffees cost more than anywhere else in the area. Lunch for 2 adults and 2 kids meal hits $90 with zero leftovers. Every time I come here I feel so squeezed and it's never worth it. So this is it. After 7 years I'm through. The place has so much potential but whatever is happening here I cannot support. There are far better bakeries (looking at you sugarwolf) and far better coffee places (literally dozens). Here is to hoping for a turnaround. read more

Most recently I've been there for lunch and enjoying their sandwiches; my favorite is the turkey. The turkey is real meat (no deli pressed stuff here!), with lettuce, tomato, avocado, and fresh sourdough. We have been to this Easy Tiger on many occasions. Today we went after a game of pickleball for a late lunch. I ordered the fish and chips with a NA lager and my wife had the burger with a spritzer. The fish was good, but the chips were just regular French fries. No malt vinegar. My wife enjoyed her burger, but again the fries were not anything special considering she had to order them as an extra side. The service was fairly prompt, but the drinks took longer than expected considering the place was not busy. I like the clean wood decor and outdoor space, but there are way too many picnic tables. He was the only one out there and with he handled at least 20 people on his own; they have really long picnic tables. I should have turned around and walked out the door when I saw the flies swarming and landing on the tables, literally had to wave them away the entire time we were eating. I ordered the chicken and dumpling soup, and omg it was a bowl of greasy and oily mess, the dumplings were horrendous! I took one bite and got sick to my stomach! My daughter ordered the pastrami sandwich and it was just a packed slab of fat and she only had a few bites and couldn't eat anymore. Easy Tiger has changed ownership groups a few times over the last few years. Several of the recipes, service, etc have changed. Since they first opened Easy Tiger had a great morning menu option called Easy Morning. A cup of coffee and a pastry for $5. Imagine my surprise when I went in this week, ordered the same thing and now it is $11??!! We aren't talking about a latte and a pastry. Drip coffee. 8 oz. I get that there is inflation, etc and prices need to go up but this is easily 30-40% more than comparable elsewhere. We are talking about counter service coffee and a pastry from the case. $8 and you might keep my business. $11 and I'm gone. There isn't anything the differentiates Easy Tiger from any other coffee shop within a mile. It's a bit of a bummer because I really enjoyed Easy Tiger for the last decade.
