    German Wurst Board

The overall vibe is great at this place and they were playing good music previous to the George Strait concert. In terms of service I thought everything was delivered fairly quickly. I just think they need to do a little more on the food. Or maybe select different wurst options as I specifically have been to Germany and these are not the best wurst.

Not a bad spot in a less busy downtown area. Lots of different German beers on tap. Pretty good value for the food. There is a bit less sausage and food variety compared to other German spots. There's a fair amount of outdoor seating. Food is also ready quick.

Schloz German restaurant. The pretzel was by far the best pretzel I have ever had. The beer cheese with it made the pretzel highly addicting. I will have to run a few extra miles today now thanks to how good this thing was. The jagerschnitzel was good. I would honestly say that I have had better but I would def order it again. The schnitzel was great! Overall I give this place 4 1/2 stars. I would def be back. Even though I didn't get any beer they do have a great beer menu.

I probably have not been to Scholz' Garten in over twenty years. I think it used to be called Scholz Beer Garten. It has been so long ago they had a dirt floor out in the beer garden. I agonized over which shoes to wear that I did not mind getting a lot of dirt on. The beer garden has been cemented and bricked. Wow, I was totally amazed to see the transformation. I was invited to a reception by a business partner. The reception included open bar and bites. There was a number of food items available for consumption all prepared by Scholz Garden staff. That is where my interest lay as it was early evening. I started off with chips and spinach dip...quite tasty. I moved on to the chicken wings, which were outstanding. They tasted as if they were slow smoked. One word for the wings...delicious! I got a couple of brisket sliders. Not a huge fan of beef, but thought I would give it a whirl. The brisket was fork cutting soft. Really enjoyed the brisket...opted out of the bun. They had some healthy options, which I completely avoided. The meal ended with three desserts - pretzel bread budding, German chocolate cake and assorted pound cakes. The standout was definitely the pretzel bread pudding. Will be hitting the gym hard today... There was complimentary valet, which was nice. Parking downtown can sometimes be quite scary. A huge shoutout for having anti-bacterial solution out in the beer garden. For a resident, germaphobe it totally made my day. I enjoyed all aspects of being at Scholz Garten and look forward to returning.

Finally got to have the pretzel fresh after all the years of my mom bringing it home to me. It was DELISH!!! I've been thinking about it since then. The service was great, ordered through the toast app and it was ready quicker than the estimated pick up time. Cute area and beer garten, walking distance from the pool and stadiums!

You know, if you are an out of towner, this place is worth a visit. Not only is it historical, but it offers an authentic Texas charm with a German influence. It's very old and very rustic, but don't let that fool you - the food is quite good! It's so much better than it used to be decades ago. The Wienerschnitzel is amazing, incredibly tender and flavorful. Like, I'm actually going back again for two nights in a row kind of good. Here is what we had last night - beef tips, Wienerschnitzel burger, the traditional, wiener, schnitzel plate, and an incredibly moist and delicious pretzel. It was huge, plenty for 3-4 people. Way above typical bar food, which you might expect walking in. It's a local favorite for a reason. Boy, "if these walls could talk" kind of place.

We had a fun lunch at Scholz Biergarten. They claim it's the oldest biergarten, not just in the U.S., but in North America -- founded in 1866. It may actually be true. We ate outside in the actual courtyard. It is not the most beautiful place and don't let the "garten" fool you. It's not a garden. A tip of the hat to our waiter Cassie, who graduates from UT in May. The menu is very traditional German food. Schnitzel. Bratwurst. Sauerkraut. Jaegerschnitzel. And huge Bavarian pretzels with mustard and two dipping sauces. And of course a huge selection of German beers. We split a pretzel ("big enough for 2-4 people" says the menu), six smoked chicken wings and a huge salad. Filling and tasty. This is the kind of food you don't want to eat every day. Warning: Carrie says Scholz's is jammed when Texas has home football games.

Dark inside! But I liked it. Bar seating, bar area has booths and tables as well. A few step down areas so not sure about fully accessible for handicapped/wheelchair access. They also have outdoor seating with nice water misting fans, etc. Restrooms were clean and orderly. Nice! We had latkes with applesauce and they were hot and delicious! Called the Kartoffelpuffer. Also had the pretzel appetizer. There was a strong mustard, beer cheese, and a butter aioli. I enjoyed them all. The pretzel was hot, crispy outside and soft inside. So good! Size of the plate/metal tray. Yum! Called Giant Bavarian Pretzel. I had the German Wurst Board. 3 different brats: Weisswurst, Bratwurst, and Pepperwurst. Sauerkraut, cider braised red cabbage, and pretzel rolls (served warm). LOVED IT! So delicious! 2 in our group had the Greed Goddess salad. Overall they liked it but they didn't find the watermelon radish. Maybe it was too dark to see them (haha). Overall, I would definitely return here. Loved the ambience. The waitstaff were super nice and helpful. And the decor was cute (a little German flair).

My wife and I came here for before the UT game and it was an absolute blast! The outdoor patio was packed, live music was going on, the restaurant was full, the back dance hall type room was packed and people were having a good ol' time! The food looked delicious. We ordered a few drinks, mingled and watched some college football on the flat screens for a bit. The staff working were super nice. Service was fast. I definitely recommend stopping by this place!

Patronized for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon in April. Good experience at this beer garden. I recommend. Details below. 1st visit at 2 pm. Party of 3. Entered through side entrance of beer garden. Ordered food and beverages at 1 of 2 outdoor bars. Menu is basic German. Open seating is shared. Food is great quality. Served very quickly. Staff bussing tables - I appreciate that. Draft German beer is poured inside and canned local beer outside. Self serve water stations; no ice. A UT baseball game was on, so a lot of college students showed up. Not an issue; it just got crowded quickly. Street side parking. Friendly staff.

We absolutely loved our visit to Scholz Garten. The food was outstanding. So bold, rich flavors and generous portions across the board. Every dish we tried was clearly made with care and tradition in mind, and it truly delivered. (I spent 3 months traveling Germany and Europe, and I have missed the food! So this was great!) The servers were incredibly kind, attentive, and helpful, which made the experience even better. The atmosphere is what really ties it all together. Such beautiful scenery, a relaxed beer-garden vibe, and a sense of history that makes you want to linger. It felt authentic, comfortable, and truly made me reminisce on my time in Germany. As first-time visitors to Texas, this was a perfect stop on our vacation and one we'll remember fondly.

No, its a restaurant in downtown Austin, not a hotel.

    Is is handicapped acceptable?

Yes certainly the garden area, indoor unsure

Do they serve traditional liter steins?

    Yes!!!

    Could I park nearby?

I parked in an empty parking garage across the street. No charge and wasn't towed or ticketed. Maybe I was lucky 🍀

Do they have the full menu back including the jagerschnitzel?

Yes, full menu is available. I had the Jägerschnitzel and it was delicious. You also get two sides, one of which can be the struedel. Sit on the patio if it's not too hot. Guten appetit!

Being able to experience a performance like that at ACL, free of charge, felt special in a way that's hard to explain. As my baby used to say, it was COSMIC. Austin City Limits ran the event flawlessly. The staff was kind, organized, and they clearly knew what they were doing. Our seats were super high up, but the view of the stage below was very good. We missed part of the intimate opening set down below right in front of the VIP section (an intentional special treat for them), but it was easy to appreciate why special donors were treated to that moment up close. What really stood out was the second half of the show.
