I've always loved the breakfast burritos here. This place has been a favorite of mine for over 10 years, and I've recommended it to so many friends because the burritos were always filling, generous, and consistently great. Lately though, I've been feeling genuinely disappointed. I've always ordered extra steak, and now I'm being charged for it but not actually receiving any extra. I thought it might have been a one time mistake but unfortunately it's continued. The portion sizes overall also feel much smaller than they used to be. Burritos that were once substantial are now something I can easily finish. I understand that changes often come with new ownership but it's disappointing when those changes affect the value and experience that made a place special. I've had this place maybe 7-8 times via delivery. It was PERFECT the first few times! It had sliced and good flavored potatos. Recently, the potatos have been mushy and BLAND. 1. The flavor of the potato which looks like mush is non existent. No flavor. It's bland. 2. One of my orders via delivery some time ago, I ordered extra eggs, extra cheese and potato's along with another regular burrito, when I received the order, the burritos were the same size.. I paid extra but it didn't feel or look like extra. 3. This is my first time coming in and the service is really good and they have a friendly staff. The prices here are fair less than $15 for a burrito in LA is the best it'll get. The workers were welcoming and in good spirits, we enjoyed our morning there! We waited around 15 minutes for our burritos and took our food to go. The burritos felt hefty so we were excited to eat them. We ordered the All Meat Breakfast Burrito and Sausage Breakfast Burrito. My boyfriend wanted to up his protein so he opted for the all meat, he enjoyed it and there was plenty of meat, but his only complaint was there was too much potatoes in it. Not a huge deal as we can pick out the potatoes, but you'd think that all meat meant mostly meat and less potatoes. The sausage burrito was great! The eggs were scrambled well, sausage was tasty and there was an even portion of everything in there for the perfect bite each time. This place used to be really good I've heard but apparently there is a new owner and the quality is not the same. Tried it for the first time today and I was not impressed. Breakfast burrito is about the size of your hand ( small side) and costs $12. It's mostly potato and tortilla. For religious reasons I can't eat pork, I found a piece of bacon in my burrito while chewing, grossed me out and opened the burrito only to find a few more bacon bits. This tells me they either reuse things or don't clean the kitchen properly so if you have food allergies or can't eat pork for religious reasons be aware!! Their salsa is good though, I'll give them one star for that. read more

And so begins the downfall of a Burbank institution for decades. It saddens me to write this, though the new ownership has slowly destroyed what they probably paid good money for.... Reputation. The old regime knew to slowly raise prices as while it hurt, you could understand their struggle to make a profit as costs rose. Raising prices by almost $1 on most burritos, is in my opinion, pure greed in trying to recapture the $$ they spent. The burritos are smaller and the flavor has changed recently. It's definitely not the same as when they first took over and left things alone. Will be interesting to see who keeps coming back, though many friends I've talked to that grew up eating here, all agree that they will frequently hear less often if at all. And it truly pains me to say that as there were not many mom/pop establishments left that had the type of following that Corner Cottage did. For those that will still come here, at least your service should be quicker as the lines even in the morning, are not what they used to be. And will probably continue to get smaller as more and more competition pops up in the breakfast space. The simple rule is, you don't mess with what works. read more

The burritos have gotten significantly smaller and they're literally just filled with undercooked potato now. Ratio to egg/meat is such a joke. No matter how you modify it when ordering, (crispy etc.) it's always the same thing. A log of undercooked potato. So bland, I didn't even want to finish it the last time. They make each burrito one by one and so it takes a while. The ingredients in the burrito are chopping and mixed on the griddle before adding to the tortilla and wrapped, so each bite has everything. And it was so good. And the best part was it was super reasonable at $9 each. I've been in this area almost 40 yrs. Corner Cottage was probably here longer! I was worried when the old owner sold the place after so many years. The brothers that bought it are awesome. Previously the cut off was 11AM and now thankfully they've increased the hours for breakfast until early afternoon. They are slowly upgrading the place and menu yet maintaining the best of the old menu-especially the breakfast burritos! These burritos are the best- freshly made and so delish. You can now order online or call in and if they're busy and can't pick up, they will usually call you back!! This is my go to place for my breakfast burritos! What do you call a hidden gem that everyone knows? Corner Cottage. In another timeline, it'd be easy to pass by this small, beige building on South Victory Boulevard...but in this timeline, it's 9am on a Saturday and there's a crowd of people outside looking like they're waiting for a Black Friday sale to start. Why are all these people in line? They're waiting for the best breakfast burrito in town. Corner Cottage has many things on the menu from breakfast burritos, burgers, and teriyaki bowls...but everyone comes here for two things: relatively cheap eats and the breakfast burritos. There's nothing extravagant about the burrito...it's not the size of a house or filled with some sacred, organic meat or artisan potatoes. It's just a breakfast burrito...potatoes, eggs, cheese, and a meat of your choice wrapped in a tortilla. The best restaurants are the ones that do simple things the right way. Some might say there's too many potatoes, not enough eggs, needs more cheese, etc, but to me the ratios are perfect. Yes, the burrito is pretty heavy on the potatoes, but the way they're cooked (everything is done on a giant, well-seasoned flat-top grill) makes it great. They're not fried and crispy, they're soft and pillowy. When wrapped together with the other stuff, it's almost like a mashed potato quality and texture. Could it use more egg, maybe, but you get just enough scrambled eggs and cheese nestled between the layers of potato. The meat options vary from ham, bacon, sausage, and/or steak. Ham is OK, smoky and thin sliced ham you'd expect in an omelette or a sandwich. The bacon is crumbled to bits so you get it pretty dispersed throughout the burrito, but you never get that crunch or chew from a bigger piece. I've never had the steak, since I always get the sausage burrito. It's the best one since it's chopped up sausage links chunked throughout the burrito. It tastes very similar to the Farmer John's breakfast sausages you'd grow up with living in Los Angeles. The best feature of the burrito is what separates theirs from the rest and it's the salsa. At first you scoff at the idea that a tiny cup is all you get...but then you realize that a little bit goes a long way. You can get the salsa in the burrito or on the side. If you don't like spice, omit it or get it on the side. I always get it on the side (and maybe ask for extra) so I can spoon it on when I want. Again, the salsa isn't anything crazy...it's just a pico de gallo with either jalapenos or serranos, chopped into an oblivion. The flavors are nothing simple though...it's spicy, sour, salty, tangy, zesty...it makes the burrito, it makes you want to take another bite. Everything is cooked to order which is the biggest and only downside of this place...you might have to wait a while. On a Saturday morning I've waited around an hour for one breakfast burrito due to the line down the block and the waiting time, but it's absolutely worth it. On a weekday morning, the wait can be a bit more manageable if you show up early. The burrito will set you back 8 or 9 bucks give or take. The prices have gone up over the past couple of years, but to get a burrito this good for under 10 bucks is kinda crazy. It's 11 with a small coffee. There are other places that serve crappy breakfast burritos for way more. A double cheeseburger combo with fries and a drink is also 11 bucks. The burgers are around 5 bucks...I wanna say a teriyaki bowl is 5 or 6? If you're looking for cheap, good eats, this is the place to go. Over the years the other things that make this place special are the people behind the counter. The family that used to run it was so nice and clearly cared about the community they were serving. This year, they sold the business to a new family and they're carrying on those traditions. The quality of their product is the same, which makes sense since I recognize all the cooks to be same from all these years. I did notice little flourishes of modernization the last time I came in. They finally got some new fridges and a coffee maker. They have a computer ticket system versus hand written orders. The only thing that hasn't changed, this place is still cash only, but it's literally only a small price to pay to get a classic meal. read more

A couple days ago I did a uber eats super hungry as I was on my way to Burbank airport. To my surprise- my order came and I was not happy. I ordered a steak burrito with no egg & crispy potatoes. I also ordered a side of onion rings. The onion rings came with only 6 and my burrito was full with just soft bland potatoes. I called immediately and explained over the phone about the issue and the man said " so sorry and bring it when you can and we will remake it" I stored it in my fridge and now since I'm back in town I came ( Thursday May 22nd) and the rude owner at the counter started argue with me that I needed to bring it same day. I told him that it was not what he said over the phone. Instead of just remaking my burrito, he argued with me in front of other guests and kept misinforming me about a miscommunication on his end. Instead of helping the customer; he refused and kept arguing and saying " I'm the owner" I'm the owner" wth? What kind of customer service is that. So rude and unprofessional. I told him he should have said the truth in our phone call and I specifically told him I wouldn't be back in town until days later. Why would I hold onto a potato burrito in my fridge that long? Cash only, no one in line, you order over the phone as directed, and suddenly you have a 50 minute wait. 50 minutes later is an incredibly mediocre breakfast burrito with incorrect toppings (included egg when no egg was requested), a completely tasteless yet spicy salsa to go with it. Somehow the burrito is heavy enough to make you feel terrible but bland enough to not be worth finishing. It's the second time come here for a breakfast burrito. I ordered the bacon breakfast burrito. It's a very good sized for the price. The one I ordered had eggs, bacon and potato. They give you a spicy sauce on the side that is very good. This place is consistently busy. You order up front and have to wait about 15 minutes or more if there's a lot of people.
