When it comes to girls that I seriously like, I beam up with a bright smile when I see them. I get all giddy inside and I'm speechless, I fumble for words, my brain is mush, its like young love all over again. Cabelas, you are my crush. I love you and waited years to see you, but I'm too shy to say anything so I'll secretly spill my beans on Yelp. This store has been around for almost a year and I don't know how I could possibly be the first to review. A travesty. Does no one else see your beauty? You are one of the largest outdoor superstores around. Sure you're not the biggest Cabelas, sure you don't carry nearly the mechandise of your other bigger siblings, sure your aquarium is shamefully small without the requisite 10 lb largemouth or the 100 lb cat, and sure your selection of fishing tackle is smallish. But I still love you. You give me shivers when I see you from afar. Yeah maybe I can't find my hotel that I've been to 3 times or the ski shop or most anything else. But you I know after the first time, offramp #4 off the I-80 in Verdi, a stone's throw from Reno. I saw you once and your memory is etched into my mind. You're not just an average girl like Walmart or Sports Basement that I just run in, grab my stuff and run out. You're special, one hour isn't nearly enough to spend with you. I have been wanting to stop at this store for years, but we have always been to lazy to pull over and take a look. Located right next to Boom Town Cabela's is a massive all sports/outdoor store. There were outdoor displays, animal displays including a mountain and African themed display, a giant fish tank with salmon on one side and largemouth bass on the other side and tons of stuff for sale. The only thing missing was a indoor cafe, but perhaps they have one and we didn't see it. I certainly wouldn't be surprised if they had a cafe. We focused on guns and ammo this visit. There was a large selection of weapons located in the "Gun Library" everything from gold plated cowboy pistols to .50 caliber sniper rifles. While I wouldn't say the prices were cheap, they were not outrageous either. I was looking for some good 9mm hollow point rounds and was helped by one of the numerous staff members working that morning. The price per box was $20 which was about a dollar more than the cheapest online price but about $1-2 less than other gun stores I had seen in CA. If you need anything regarding the outdoors Cabela's the store is way more fun than shopping Cabela's catalog. I highly recommend checking out this cool store. read more

Walked into a rude lady telling me to put my mask on. Not how's your day welcome to cabelas. Was looking for megabass vision 110 In pro blue. Couldn't find anyone to help me, stores a ghost town. Cabela's went bankrupt for a reason clearly. The fishing section is completely disorganized to say the least. All the items they carry are Johnny Morris's knockoffs. Want an s waver no you have to buy there copy. It's pretty sad to see so many baits copied and made in China. Land of the sweatshops. All the license plates are out of state clearly see locals come here and I don't blame them. Does this store have a manager? If so yo should start with customer service. Although I'm not much of an outdoor sports (e.g., hunting and fishing) person, I have enjoyed stopping in to these Cabela's mega-stores since I first visited the mother ship off I-80 near Sidney Nebraska. The quality of their goods is excellent and the entertainment value alone (including stuffed game and related displays) is all the reason you need to stop by. Then there's the Bass Pro Shop chain, that in many ways has done Cabela's one better in terms of entertainment and dining options. You can't miss this Cabela's (and the Boomtown Casino Complex) as you drive in from California. It's all part of the gaming industry plan to separate fools like me from their money. If you look carefully, there's good quality for the price here among extensive selection. Cabela's also has a robust catalog operation and their "Cave" section offers many excellent bargains. One of my favourite 3-season jackets comes from here. And as Gayle and I consider moving to Genoa around 3-5 years from now, I'm sure I'll be here more often as I prepare for the associated meteorological and cultural changes. read more

Cabela's seems like it would be an odd match for me, but I am always surprised by how much I like this store. This is my go-to place for casual wear that is well made and reasonably priced. I must confess I am mildly enamored of their store brand line of fleece. I also really like their customer service. Every time I have gone in, staff have been helpful and they knowledgable about the products they carry. They can tell you the pros and cons of different items and will steer you towards sale items. Check-out is usually quick and painless and overtime I have been here the store has not been crowded at all. The main quibble I have is it can be a little challenging to find the entrance when coming off I-80. I know the way now, but the first time can be a little confusing. Worth the drive west. Came here three times in two days. Initially were here for their special on Glock magazines: 3 for $140. A hunter/shooter's paradise. Plenty of other outdoor sporting good equipment also from camping to fishing to skiing to hiking to boating. Sportswear is mostly Cabela brand (affordable) and North Face (not as much). Good variety and the prices are okay. Salespeople here don't hassle you either, which is really nice. Be sure to stop in the store inside to try some fudge samples. read more

I think I cried a little walking into the gun library. It was sooo beautiful. I only wish I can purchase the toys in this place, unfortunately, I live in the Cali side. Cabela's is a ginormous wonderland for outdoorsiness. Walking through, on the way toward my goal destination, I passed sporty stuff...hunting things...more sporty stuff...blah blah blah...wait, CANDY!!! Amid all that other stuff of no interest to me was a pretty impressive selection of candy--score. The goal, in this case, was to reach Cabela's Deli & Grill. The dining area was rustic, which was obviously appropriate. Orders are made at the counter, then they call your name so you can pick up your food when it's ready. Food was ready pretty quickly. Food was fresh and pretty good. There were interesting items to choose from, such as smoked bison deli meat, bison brats, elk burgers, buffalo burgers, fried cheese curds, and sweet potato fries. There are kiddie items available, such as chicken tenders and mac & cheese. If you're making the trek from Reno to Sacramento, or visa versa, this is a fun option if you need to grab some coffee. Cabela's also is an available meeting venue, and they do banquets. All staff were outstanding. read more

From hard to find items to your common everyday gear. You can order something on-line and have it delivered to the store for free. ~ Such an awesome display of animals. My toddler had his mouth open the entire time. He was just so busy looking at all the animals. ~ It is such a nice addition to the area and located in such a great location. ~ Excellent customer service. Our return was hassle free. CONS: ~ It can be a bit expensive. ~ If you are not into hunting, you can get offended by the dead animals on display. We planned on a quick trip but ended up staying there for an hour. Okay, I can see how gun-totin', animal-shootin', camo-geared hunters love this place. It's a bit smaller than Scheels (only one level), but with excellent quality of goods. This is not the Wal-Mart of sporting goods. I came here to check out the camping section. I camp in the mountains and also at Burning Man, so I needed a tent that I could survive in that could take vicious winds, roasting temps and yet very cold mountain nights. I finally found a Cabela's tent that should do it all, with four poles and a geodesic design that should do well in harsh environments with Himalayan winds. Better yet, the tent was on sale for $150 down from $220. SOLD! I was surprised to see how many people actually worked in the store (they seemed to outnumber the customers 2 to 1), but when I needed to talk to someone, they seemed to all disappear. Humpf. I had a question about tents and when I finally tracked someone down to help, he told me to just go outside the store and look at the one they had on display. And as a woman struggling with a fairly big box walking what felt like a mile to the front of the store, not one employee stopped to help me or offer to get a cart. Very disappointing. Who stuck out like a shining star? The nicest, most polite and helpful sales clerk who was delightful. If it hadn't been for her, I would have given this place a thumbs down. Nevada is such a different world than California isn't it? The minute you cross that state line you can fire class 3 automatic weapons, smoke in restaurants, and gamble. It's so fascinating. Cabela's is one of those things that just seems like it would never fly where i live. In my hometown yes, but not where I live now. My calling here however is food. Food you say? Yes. They have an outstanding variety of cured/preserved meats mainly for campers, hunters, survivalists. I eat them cause I like em. The taxidermy section is mindblowing and more camo than you can shake a stick at. So gigantic it's almost an amusement park in itself if it were not a retail store. read more

This store has been nothing but a nightmare from the start. My fiancé and I each purchased a 9mm online and headed in on different days for pickup. The first gun was incorrect on the finishes and had to be returned but was made right quickly. Today we return to pickup mine. I had to complete a background check. The first older guy helping asks twice if I have a CCW and both times is exasperated I don't so he will be doing a more in depth check. He tells me itll be a while. No problem, nothing they can do. I wander the store and kill some time. I head back to discover he is gone but a younger bearded fellow has taken over. He tells me they are still waiting and it's likely another 5 minutes. I tell him I have an appt and ask if I can have my ID back and come back later. He says he has to keep it...not sure why a copy wouldn't suffice. So I hang out right on front of his station. He finishes the call and instead of making any mention or anything, starts helping some other customer that just walked up in a very in depth purchase. After another 5 minutes I demanded my ID back. Just ridiculous how many people working there too but wandering around just BSing with one another. I'd recommend the local shops after this fiasco. read more

I remember how cool it was when Cabela's first opened near Reno. One of my college friends used to live nearby, and I would often stop here on the way to and from their house. Now that she has moved away, I still find an excuse to stop by Cabela's on nearly every trip. It is not hard to miss. If the billboards along Interstate 80 did not catch your attention, the massive store appears on the horizon just after you pass the Nevada state line near the Boomtown Casino. Parking used to be easy, but over the years they have installed several roundabouts and new access points, so just follow the signs and eventually you will arrive at the store. Cabela's looks like a mountain log cabin on steroids with a massive entrance lobby with several animals preparing you for the adventure inside. There is typically a kettle corn vendor outside tempting you with his sweet and salty treats. Once you enter, you are usually overwhelmed with the scale of the store. Where should I go first??? The center of the store has the clothing and an African wildlife display. The sides of the store have the sporting goods with the restaurant and fudge shop near the entrance. Yes, I said fudge shop. If elk bratwurst, bison burgers, and fried cheese curds do not satisfy the beast, a wide assortment of fresh gourmet fudge just might. Cabela's also happens to be a sporting goods store. They have a huge selection of firearms which are only available for Nevada residents, but you can always visit the Gun Library or pick up several hundred rounds of ammo. If you prefer, they have an awesome archery and fishing collection too. Of course they have a big aquarium in the fishing section! You do not have to be a hunter to appreciate Cabela's. Hidden within the walls are extensive camping and sports apparel. There is more than enough to satisfy even the most devout vegan in this apparent shrine to hunters. Their location and fudge are enough to warrant a quick stop. Do so, and you will be rewarded with a fun shopping adventure for everyone in the car! read more

I love going to Cabelas they always have a great selections of camping, fishing, hunting, weapons, and most of your outdoor needs. They have a great staff. They are friendly and welcoming to customers. At this site they are veteran friendly and will host veteran events. Thank you for supporting veterans. There is plenty of parking and parking event for RVs and semi trucks. Let's start with their weapons selection. Pistols, shotguns, rifles and bows. If they don't have it they can order it. They also have a great selection of scopes and ammo. There is also a great fishing area to complement the camping gear area and they have a great selection of shoes and boots for your camping, hunting, fishing, etc needs. They have a burger joint in Cabelas that serve elk, buffalo, deer and other good burgers. Their fries are pretty good too. If you do come by Cabelas just to check it out I would recommend grabbing a burger here. They are pretty good and the taste of the meat is not very gamey. So if your not into gamey meat this is a good place to taste different meats. Just an all around fun place to visit for the day, buy stuff, and hang out. Somethings are expensive, some are cheaper, some the same. It's all about comparison shopping. It's definitely a Manly store, and a great way to spoil the man in your life. Plus the in house cafeteria was actually pretty good. So is the fudge, which I liked better than the Bass Pro Shop kind I've had before. A beautiful store that I could get completely lost or absorbed in upon every visit. The staff are very friendly and will help you with what you need. Not all retail stores are like that necessarily (e.g. Walmart). Andrew, the young archery technician (if my memory serves me correctly) was particularly helpful, walking me through everything I needed for my first bow, and setting aside his workload on my behalf. It's worth noting that they have a shooting range for bows so you can test them before you buy them, and you can get them to change the draw length and draw weight if needed. It was certainly a necessary task I couldn't do at the moment without some pre-existing skills. If I had ordered online without visiting brick-and-mortar like this store, I would be at a potentially severe disadvantage. read more

I LOVE Cabela's. Great outdoor/seasonal family clothing and shoe selection with lots of sales and reasonable prices. Unbeatable selection of hunting, fishing, boating, and outdoor sports/camping gear. Good selection of hiking supplies, knives, binoculars, etc. I don't know anything about guns or rifles, but they have a whole section of the store for rifles, gun safes, scopes, and camo accessories. Cabela's is clean, well-organized, and well-stocked; a family-friendly store that's fun to visit even if you're not into outdoor sports or camping. Kids will enjoy the side attractions--the full-size dioramas with animals and waterfalls. Cabela's is now owned by Bass Pro Shops, so you'll see some Bass merchandise trickling onto the shelves. The people who've helped me track things down are some of the friendliest people I've ever met in a retail store this huge. Let's hope that continues, because Bass has a customer service reputation that Cabela's was known to exceed. read more

Cabella's is an outdoor persons dream playground! This place is definitely a one stop outdoor haven! Besides the center sales floor they have a general store to the right that sells food nick naks and a grill restaurant to the left that has a sit down eating area. On the outer rim of the store they have everything separated by activity such as fishing, hunting, hiking etc. Towards the center of the store is where they have all the clothes of course separated by gender and age. Besides the wide variety of selections you might need to purchase, they have arcade games spread throughout the store! Each arcade game coincides with the activity section you are at. In addition to the the games they also have very cool museum type of displays towards the end and dead center of the store. They also have a pretty cool and small fish aquarium near the shoes section in the back right. Cabella's is always a stop when I'm in the area! && on the way out, stop by and get a bag of yummy kettle corn from the wagon cart! read more

This is not the largest Cabela's store I have visited but there is still a ton of inventory on the floor. Trailers, kayaks, boats outside and there seems to be a lot of them! My most recent visit was for dog gear. I was disappointed in the selection of merchandise for vehicle accessories and training items for dogs. I guess I was expecting more variety in bumpers, and seat covers etc. if you are and outdoors person, you know Cabela's and you know the quality they carry. No different at this location. I would like to give a special shout out to the woman working in the sunglasses kiosk. She was friendly, helpful, and went beyond good customer service without being pushy or hovering over us. I wish I could remember her name but it escapes me. Thank you for your assistance amazing sunglasses lady! If you have some time to burn on your way in or out of Reno, stop by and take a look. Even the non-outdoorsy type could find something here and as the holidays approach you're sure to find a cool gift for someone. read more

Really disappointed for a big box store. Santa's experience at Cabela's was underwhelming. First they didn't have a single box of 9 mm hollow points. Now that I can understand because no one has ammo right now so that's not what got my boxers in knot. I needed parts for my Coleman camp stove, a 413 e. Needed a plunger assembly and a aspiration valve assembly. The website said that Cabela's had it and Cabela's is very very big, so I thought, of course, that they would have it. Well I go to the camping section I find the new camp stoves. Not a soul in the store to assist me in the camping department. They were counting guns apparently they had everybody over in the gun department just to chat and some doing inventory some actually working. When I asked one of the gun counters to please have someone come over to camping no one came over. And there was about 10 people in the camping area milling around and they didn't even ask me if I needed any help. Then I tried to find the stuff myself and nothing! They have no parts they have nothing! Everything seems to be bare. I thought Cabela's would have a whole line of parts so you could just go in there and get parts to fix stuff, but nooooo. As you know Santa's pretty old but I look like I'm over 60 and because I'm old I don't suffer fools easily or poorly run businesses. I wouldn't even written a bad review if someone had just been there to tell me no we don't stock that here or go jump in a lake or something but there was just nobody. The store must be 25,000 ft² and they were running skeleton crew what the heck is going on? And I'm a Nevadians but I have to go to California now and I have to tell my wife that I had a bad experience with the Nevadians Merry Christmas, bah humbug, just kidding. read more

I imagined this day would come but this weekend was all about what makes me happy. As the doors opened up, it was love at first sight. I walked in and it felt like time stopped, like everything froze. Then I felt a push... it was my girlfriend. I realized it was only me and I was blocking the enterance . I walked through every isle and took a ton of pictures to document this moment. I wasn't sure what I was looking for exactly but after my girlfriend smacked me a couple of times, the oxygen was coming back. We were actually looking for more camping equipment since she just realized at the age of 25, that she loves camping. Her parents kind of sheltered her so building up our equipment was priority. Spent about 2 hours shopping only because we had a 4 hour drive ahead of us. A sad goodbye but a happy I will see you soon. read more

What an awesome store! They have everything anyone could need for any type of outdoor excursion. I've been in here a mere handful of times. The store is easy to navigate and employees are willing to help. The checking out system is easy to navigate and I've always been able to walk up to a register and have a minimal wait. I haven't gone shopping at major holidays, so I don't know if efficiency holds true for those busy times. Great store. I wish I was more outdoorsy and needed to buy more than I do from there. Maybe someday :) At least I know of a good store to come to when I need outdoor items :) They also have a pet section!
