If you love supporting local artisans and woman-owned businesses that ooze creativity and good…read morevibes -- this is your spot. Walking in feels like stepping into a treasure chest of local magic. Every shelf has something delightful and unexpected -- from hedgehog Solar Eclipse hair claws (yes, they're as adorable as they sound ) to artisan chocolates that could convert even the grumpiest soul into a sweet tooth, and the coziest wool Lake Tahoe Pendleton blanket that basically screams "mountain chic nap time." The shop is filled with locally made goods, thoughtful gifts, and those "I didn't know I needed this but now I can't live without it" finds. You'll walk out with gifts for your friends... and, let's be honest, a few for yourself. The staff? Absolute rays of sunshine. They're bubbly, funny, and genuinely excited to help you find the perfect thing -- whether it's a Sierra Soapbox candle, a card, or that last-minute gift that looks like you planned it weeks ago. If anyone ever complains about them... honestly, that's on you. They're the best part of the experience. Bottom line: Come for the gifts, stay for the vibes. Tahoe Gifting Co. is everything that's wonderful about shopping small -- local love, joyful humans, and seriously fun finds.

This shop is located in the Carson City Senior Center and is open Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 3 PM. When I pointed out that the website said they closed at 3:30 PM, the volunteer apologized and said it was been that way for years. Much to my surprise, a few hours later it was corrected on the web, without me even requesting that. For this gift shop, seniors who are 62 and older make crafts, jewelry, accessories, etc., and sell them here on consignment. 15% of the proceeds goes to Meals on Wheels, which the Carson Senior Center runs. The remaining 85% goes directly to the person who consigned the craft, so they may have some extra income! All items are new. They accept consignments Tuesdays and Wednesdays only. I asked if disabled people under 62 could sell items there, and the volunteer was not sure, but said to come back in a short while when the manager would be there. The store has an enormous amount of items for sale, all very colorful. They have such diverse items as scarves, quilts, throw pillows, wigs, trinkets, pictures, trucks, teddy bears, home decor, jewelry, walking sticks, etc. The volunteer I spoke to was oh so nice and professional. They take the four major credit cards according to the sign on their windows, but the bulletin board inside says just three: MasterCard, Visa, and Discover. They also take cash, but no longer accept checks. The store is so bright and colorful, I want to come back here soon to shop!

I bought my parents a beautiful, sparkly magnet in the shape of Lake Tahoe. Even in a saturated market with abundant options for Lake Tahoe inspired gifts, I felt like I made a unique and thoughtful purchase. I also made the executive decision to treat myself! I bought a weathered agate, crystal bracelet with a heart-shaped pendent filled with sand from a local beach. This happened to be a great conversation starter, and the kind woman assisting me with check out gave me tips on how to access the beach where the sand was collected. Overall, I spent just under $100, and I believe the value is well worth it if I'm receiving quality products while also supporting local artists and businesses.

My experience started off not so good when one of the employees just looked at me and my family when we walked in. A polite "Hello" would've sufficed. When other people came in after us she got all chipper and welcomed them in. A little strange and I don't know what to make of that. We were across the counter from her at one point, and by instinct I waited for, "Are you finding everything OK? To be said to us. Nothing. She just looked at us and it was awkward. Shopping the turquoise part of the jewelry counter was a challenge I wasn't expecting. No one could tell me what the sizes were for rings and bracelets. I had to just try them all on. I felt silly trying on every single one and frankly a waste of time just to see what I could possibly buy. I know my size, but not the sizes of the displayed. Not sure if I came home with Kingman turquoise or other. Again, had no real assistance or interaction to discuss the pieces. The pieces are beautiful and I am still very happy with what I blindly bought. The younger employee who was learning the ropes, was very friendly and obliged in taking out the jewelry for me. Shout-out to this person who redeemed the entire experience. She had the most delightful conversation with my daughter about musicals :) If it wasn't for her, I think I would've walked out and given up purchasing anything. I was hoping to have the experience that I read about in the reviews. I have frequented jewelry stores where customer service was far more. This was just not the situation I had. I did not like that the price was in marker directly written onto the silver. I wasn't expecting that and saw it when I got home. It's very tacky. I understand some places do that. I just didn't expect it from here. Water on a cotton swab isn't budging it. I don't know what safely will.
