I really don't understand the less than five star reviews. This place is AMAZING. Staff is SO friendly. They sell such amazing products. Searching for a gift for someone ? Robins nest. They have such a wide variety of high quality, unique stuff. I bought a hand pand drum and earrings all in the same shop. I actually bought two earrings, because they are fairly priced and lovely looking. Rudest people ever that own the shop. Telling us to "tame" our kids who are 4 years old and were right with us the entire time. We bought stuff and were super nice to them. Kept saying things under their breath. Horribly rude. Then the man followed us out the store asking if there was anything he could do to redeem his disgusting behavior. What better shop to visit in the center of town in Kings Beach than the Robin's Nest. There is always something new to look at and Max or Lizzie is happy to help you find just what you are looking for. They even shipped me a sweatshirt and mug after mine was damaged in my suitcase. These two work hard and are in there every day of the week. It does get crowded in the summer so plan ahead but their store is stapled full of great items treat are sure to make the best gift! read more

Robins nest looked cute from outside so we just had to enter and look around. i found cute trinkets and baby cloths were adorable but pricey. Appeared to have higher prices then other gift shops in the same area, look around there's identical items for lower price . they do have like other shops hand craft wooden items . My son, daughter and niece wee with us they were waiting outside my daughter came in to tell me the "owner" an older man complimented her but at the same time was rude. I placed my items to pay and my son was getting an octopus stuffed animal he decided last minute he didn't want it so I said to cashier we no longer like this item, she took it and made a sound as if she were annoyed i guess she had to do math or calculations that made it inconvenient for her. Suggest working on your ppl skills if you choose to work or own a gift shop it requires you to be friendly IF you like to have a successful shop, great reviews, word of mouth advertising, and a strong pipeline of buyers Step it up! Prices matter but service matters more. I will be back hopefully you're still there and i'll update my rating accordingly or leave as is, we shall see...God willing. read more

Wierd place. Browsed here for 10 minutes and neither of the workers said a single word to me or acknowledged my presence. It was almost as if they went out of their way to ignore me. I hate to leave a bad review but if you encountered this too, you're not alone. I really wanted to buy 2 hats for my sons but they seemed pretty disinterested in helping me find more stock. The lady working the front desk was super rude. She yelled at my teenage daughters for using a nail file that said "TESTER". Then after they walked away she continued to bad mouth them saying how disgusting it was to leave your DNA on a nail file. My advice to that gift shop is: don't put "TESTER" on things you don't want people to try ‍ read more

Another cool and eclectic home decor place around the edge of Lake Tahoe. They have this life-size carved wooden Black Bear out front (see the pix for the review) that I really wanted. I met an elderly gentleman - Marshall Nixon - the husband of the woman who runs the place. Nice guy. I was particularly smitten with a number of wooden Black Bear carvings/figurines that stood 2-3 feet high. I asked Marshall how much they would sell the life size bear out front: $2,400.00. Wow! Out of my price range! I may have to go back tomorrow and buy one of the smaller bears... read more

The "owners" are disgusting people. It's was a horrible experience. We have never encountered racism to our face that way. We went in to get a gift that reminded us of our trip to Lake Tahoe and did NOT expect the behavior these two "owners" had. The lady was extremely rude and racist. We got there and her dog started barking at us and wouldn't move and she just let it and we kept asking her if she could get her dog and she completely ignored us. We had little ones with us and she still didn't care. The guy almost knocked over my little one like three times. Apparently they don't know manners and can't even use simple words like excuse me or sorry. It's was such a disappointment. She also yelled at my 3 yr old and when I told her to have more respect for her customers she just laughed. We didn't buy nothing from them. Don't support the robins nest, it's a horrible place and unless you wanna be mistreated do NOT go. I honestly don't know how some adults are just so immature. They had such a great selection of items for gifts and for decor for the home! Unfortunately, the gentleman that was helping us behind the counter was on the phone for almost the whole transaction and really didn't speak to us until we got to the payment portion when he asked the person on the phone to hold on. He wrapped up the coffee mug we purchased, but when I politely asked him if he could also wrap up the shot glass, as we were heading back home and I didn't want it to crack in the car, he kept trying to say things like, "What, you don't have a blanket in the car to wrap it up with?" or "Are you going to be driving crazy so that it breaks?" It was just a very strange encounter...I could see if I was asking for multiple sheets of packing paper or bubble wrap, but it seemed like he just didn't want to put in the extra effort to wrap up a tiny shot glass. I'm not sure if I will go back again, but we shall see. read more

In our quick visit, I ended up loving this place!! A lot of unique items. I had purchased for my wife a classy copper bracelet with 'LOVE' engraved along with nifty designs around it. A perfect accessory for our upcoming maternity photoshoot in May. They also supplied cool wooden magnets even though a tad pricey ($10), it symbolizes 'LOVE' for our trip towards our upcoming baby due soon. My family and I go to this gift shop at least twice a year and are never disappointed with the multitude of gifts. Everything from bear underwear to unique jewelry at a great price. In my visits, I usually run into a kind, elderly gentleman or his lovely wife. Over the years of periodically visiting, I have grown a healthy friendship between the two. The location is great!
