    Employees do not wear masks!

    I have been here numerous times recently and the employees DO NOT wear masks. They require customers to wear masks, but obviously hold themselves to a different standard. In addition, the employees are not helpful or even friendly. They act like it's an unbearable chore to do their job. I do not recommend this location and will no longer be supporting it myself.

    I have been with north shore be hardware since this pandemic started. I've lost a family member and both my grown kids had it. It broke my heArt to hear the pain in their voices when ide call. They wouldn't let me by them.i want to say that most of our customers treats us like they are greatful and are awesome they are polite and don't get so demanding when they see we are busy. I just want to say to all the negitivity out there that we are short staffed and we work long hours and have been right there in front and have tried making things good for all. I have good days and bad days like anyone but when someone comes.in and is demanding and short I want you to remember how we feel. I don't see why we can't just follow the rules for a minute so maybe just maybe this will help things . I mean all of the ones taking a stand and not doing what's asked has not made it better. Let's all try to get along and be good to one another. Our store is a essential business and we are trying our best to get what you need our policy's are lax compared to others. So please don't try to take advantage of the ones who are trying to be there for ya all. And if we don't know what your looking for we will always get someone who will so that don't mean we are clueless or stupid it means unless your perfect we are just like you. Thanks to all our awesome friends and customers out there that appreciate us because we think your the best! Also for the ones who say we are bad because of our masks. Yes I agree but I try to do my best I have recently developed lung problems and I get short of breath easy. So if no one is in there by me I pull my mask down.if I'm waiting on some one yes I will pull it up the instance below is when my mask slide down and I just pulled it up to my nose it was half covered and a customer got smart and was rude and I reacted to that in a way I shouldn't of perhaps but there is no reason to say bad and rude things about our staff. Hey we aren't all perfect but you do our job during this time and see how you are. . Have a nice day and we will see you all again.

    Bought Quality Chain Corp QV331 tire chains $120 at North Shore Ace Hardware store, Kings Beach near Lake Tahoe, CA 12/23/19. Pics show new chains have rust in several places. Although correctly installed, within 5 miles of driving at 20-30mph, 1 cable broke. The owner Paul's response when I told him what happened, "I don't care if you have pictures. They were stored out back and did get wet, but rust won't affect them. I never give returns on tire chains." Same Quality Chain Corp QV331 chains @Autozone $81.99. My mistake not returning the rusty chains immediately.

    Sometimes a quick hardware run turns into an unexpected test of patience. On December 5, 2025 at…read morearound 5:15 PM, a friendly cashier called the manager over because two clearance items were incorrectly priced. One item wasn't marked at all, and the other showed a $10 sticker with an additional 50% off. When I scanned the barcode in the Ace Hardware app, the item rang up as $2.99, so I kindly requested a price match based on Ace's own listed pricing. The manager entered the interaction abruptly, avoided eye contact, and loudly exclaimed "What the F***"--a remark heard by several customers in nearby lines. This was both unprofessional and unnecessary. He then insisted the online price was inaccurate and attempted to charge an incorrect amount ($31.99!!), even after I showed the product information. I ultimately ordered the items for in-store pickup at the correct price, but the situation could have been resolved quickly and respectfully in the moment. I've included a photo with the serial number so this can be reviewed by leadership and handled more appropriately going forward. The rest of the staff was excellent; the issue was solely with the manager's conduct. I hope future visits to this location reflect the professionalism Ace is known for.

I provided this report to the owner who was working at the counter at the time, and he assured me that he could absolutely read the report and had a unit that would fit those specific requirements. He was extremely confident and sold me the mini-split unit. Fast forward to after installing the unit and having the required HERS report done, I was informed by the professionals that this unit did not in fact meet the Title 24 requirements that were provided to Standard Appliances. I spoke with the owner afterwards to let him know this, with the sole purpose of letting him know they may want to pay a bit more attention to the details of the Title 24 report provided to them for the next customer (or victim). The owner proceeded to yell at me and complain that he did nothing wrong, because he is not an engineer. I never asked him to analyze anything as an engineer, I simply asked to buy a unit that was up to the specific requirements for which he had replied confidently he knows exactly how to read these reports. If you prefer to not get yelled at and treated extremely poorly, take your business elsewhere. The owner will yell at you for 5 minutes straight while not listening to any word of reason from you. There are plenty of appliance stores that sell identical products to that of Standard Appliance, and you will be very happy you were not verbally abused.

On our first visit Don introduced himself to us and then let us go about looking at all the cabinets. We came back several times and each time Don checked in with us and answered questions. Don was patient, knowledgeable, and professional. After we ordered the cabinets, Don touched base with us to let us know how the order was going, when they arrived and set up delivery date. One did not match the other and it cost us $125 to return it. We bought a replacement for the return for less than the fee to return the original. Nobody should be charging fees to return things like that. Then the cabinets, though we love how they look were quite a pain. We went into order them and the original lady that we talk to was on vacation so the other lady was gonna come measure. She talked to the original lady and wouldn't come because the original lady wanted to do it. I guess because she wanted the commission to herself I don't know which delayed us by a week we were told we could rush the order and probably get it in 3 to 4 cause it usually takes five weeks when the order is finally submitted, they quoted seven weeks they pulled that in to five weeks, but measured wrong, which took a couple weeks to rebuild the cabinet. So the original five weeks has really been closer to 10 weeks when all is said and done. We never got status updates. I kept having to contact them. They really could work on their customer service. I also have since found that I could've had the cabinets custom made for about half the price.
