I ordered a holster about 2 ish months ago for my handgun. I thought it would've arrived by now because they originally said 8 weeks but received no communication from this establishment 2 months later. I called in, they said they'd call back, but didn't and never left a message either. I also put a down payment on a suppressor which I didn't go through with. I went in today and asked for a refund for everything, the guy behind the gun counter was a complete douche....super unfriendly and unwelcoming....scoffing and seemed super irritated at me when I have the right as a customer to get a refund when it's taken longer than promised. I would've bought the suppressor too if his attitude wasn't absolute s***. They even charged me a restocking fee because I didn't want the suppressor anymore. I'm a Marine Veteran with two tours and never been disrespected like this so I won't be back. I'll happily take my money elsewhere and so should you. Go to Scheels where they actually communicate, actually want your business, actually give accurate back order dates and actually value Veteran customers. This place has been around forever, probably one of the oldest businesses on Kietzke, I have shopped here for both fishing tackle and firearms accessories and the shop is always well staffed and the salespeople know their stuff. If you want advice from hunters and fishermen who actually have lots of experience doing both in Northern Nevada, this is where you go. My only complaint is the prices, which are going to be more than just about anywhere else in town but I suppose that is how you keep the shop well staffed with knowledgeable people, but still puts it in the "if I can't find it anywhere else, I bet I can find it here" category. Went in looking for a handgun and the guy at the counter was most helpful. I tried several guns out to try and figure out which one would fit me best. I did notice the price were a bit higher than other spots in town. But the helpful service was very much appreciated. I been to several other locations and this was the first person who showed me the best way to hold the handgun. Most of my experience was back in the 80's where we were taught to cup the gun with one hand cupping the other under the grip. He showed me a better way to keep the gun tight so it won't sway to the side. This store did have lots of guns to look at and many more rifles. We mostly own rifles and may want to upgrade in the future. And they seem to have lots of inventory to include fishing gear. We do that on occasion too. Overall, good experience. read more

Terrible place. The prices are gouged, so much for supporting your local if they're ripping you off. They don't take accountability if they mess up or if they can't fix your rifle they'll say it's your fault, they don't make you feel good about the situation at all. When you leave the store you feel like you just got ripped off, kind of makes you want to go back and return the stuff and then go to a different place and get double the stuff and same brand for the same price. This is one local place I will not go to or recommend for anybody. If you can't fix it, don't touch it. It's that simple and is much more easy to appreciate a business when you get your item, returned the way that you gave it to them versus it being in worse condition then when you took it there. So if you do go get your rifle repaired there for some reason , I suggest you take before photos. For if they do leave it in worse condition, you can show them. No I did not do this to my rifle. I came here for a castle nut wrench, which they had one in my price liking (compared to other local shops). Staff were helping every customer that was there and none of them seemed arrogant. He approached the first employee and ask if they have one. The employee replies and said yes the store had just got one in. The employee goes to the back and brings out the rifle. Not in a box, but loose. Customer ask if the rifle was new, the employee replied, yes. The customer looks over the rifle and levers it open and can see brass shavings in the works. Employee number two, walks by and tells the customer it is used. The customer asked about the price. The first employee quoted $1400.00. And could only be purchased with cash or PayPal. We were in the market for a couple new rods and reels. We didn't want to hit the big box stores and found this gem of a store through Yelp. Walked in and we had to take a tour before we met up with Slim. Great guy. Very knowledgeable in the area fishing, etc. He had us immediately set up with rigs we could use at lakes (and for trout) as opposed to our stream set ups. Great service. I really want to highlight "Skinny" who works in the fishing supply section. I recently relocated from Honolulu to Reno and wanted to take up trout fishing. Skinny was awesome in showing me the what, when, and how to catch big trout here in our local water ways. I even met with skinny on his own time and he personally game me hands on guidance. I read that they are a little more pricey, that I'm not sure of but if they are I can assure you it's worth every penny to have this type of customer care and knowledge at your finger tips. I ordered a weapon through a manufacturer and elected to have it sent to MarkFour and Strike Sporting Goods for the final background check and additional weapons fees. The company sent me an email when they shipped my weapon. They suggested that I call the receiving store, just to let them know that it was coming as an additional safety measure. Guns have been known to come up missing in transit. The man that answered the phone was immediately hostile, rude, and dismissive. After telling him that I had ordered a weapon that was to be delivered to their store, he immediately began to berate me and tell me that "it isn't that simple, you can't just order a gun and come and pick it up." He then ranted for about 3 minutes about how people did not know how the system works. I cut him off and asked him why I was being yelled at for what someone else had done and asked him if we could start over. He finally relented and I was able to get some information out of him. He assured me that they would call when it arrived. They did not. But it was shipped 2nd-day air. I knew that they had it, so I went in. I stood at the counter for several minutes waiting for the male salesmen to help me. They all ignored me, waiting on any man that came into view while I stood there patiently. Finally, about 10 minutes in, a young man who was looking for anyone else but the woman standing there, came to speak with me. When he found out that I had a weapon waiting, he was more cordial. But, still treated me like I didn't know the trigger from the barrel. He did, however, help me complete the required paperwork and I paid the price for the background check and left, with the assurance that they would contact me when my background cleared. I know from experience, 30+ years as Law enforcement in Reno, and a 20-year career with the military that this takes about 12 to 24 hours. It is now day 3 with no call. I am going down today to get my gun. I paid over $1000 for a custom handgun. There is no way that I am letting them send it back because "The customer did not pick it up." I would not recommend this place to anyone, especially women. They are rude, misogynistic, and dismissive. If you like to be treated like you do not exist and that you are as dumb as a box of rocks, be my guest go to this place and get what you deserve. read more

I bought 3 boxes of .270 win short mag for the upcoming season (around $80 a box) and realized later my rifle wasn't a .270 WSM but a normal .270 & they let me trade in the ammo in for the correct .270 I needed. Mark Fore and Strike is a family owned gunshop that's been a Reno Institution for as long as I can remember. Years ago I used to deliver products to them when I worked for a firearms distributor. It's good to see them still kicking! They are a full-service shop, so prices tend to be on the higher end, but they gave me a smoking deal on a 12 gauge over/under with an engraved receiver, fine wood and all the trimmings a while back. Worst experience. It started out good but ended up the worst experience ever. Went in on Monday and purchased a fire arm and and had then run a back round check. the guy that helped me was really nice. I explained to them that I have issues with my back ground check and it needed to be ran with my social security number cause it pops up with another person back ground. I was told that they don't have a box to run that info. I paid and left. I called Wednesday for the back round check and was told I was on a 3 day holding period, that they should know by today. I called at 4:37 and I talked to the owner Dave about it. explained to him about my back round check and the complications I have with it. when I asked questions Dave got very rude over the phone as I was trying to get clarification on my concerns about this. He told me that they could send over paper work to go further with the back round company. I said that be good, but I like my money back for the firearm and I would come by and pick it up after I got off work. I tried asked another question he wad rude said see you when you get here for your refund and hung up. I went into the store about 5:15 and talked to the gentleman that helped me with the back round check. he went and grabbed Dave. Dave came out with my paper had a attuited and I said can you get the owner .He said I am the owner I said I wanted my refund and the paper work done. He tells me there's a 100 restocking free for the firearm. I said I haven't even taken it out of the store and I didn't want to pay that. I was not informed about that when purchased pending back ground check. Dave said I can be a dick about this and not give you a refund but he wouldn't do that. he handed me the paper work tell me after this I'm not welcome back due to the fact I'm annoyed him and his daughter. I said that's fine by me, then Dave rips the paper from my hand and said neverminded I not gonna help you with this either. he was nice enough to give me the information I need to call the place and handle it my self. At the cashier stand he told cashier to refund me the full amount beside the 25 for the back round check which I said I appreciated that cause I was either gonna dispute the charges with my back or hire an attorney. He handed me my card and said I'm not welcomed back at my store again. I said don't worry I wont every come back here and spend my money. I left out the doors and to my car and as soon as I open my door the owner Dave runs out and threaten to beat my ass and I was 2 seconds from getting my ass beaten because I said I would get a lawyer and told me I was a f***ing p**sy. I told him if he came any closer I would call the cops as I was trying to leave the premises and he told me that he was gonna call then cause I was still on the property. I was not even give a minute to get in my car and leave. He was very rude and unprofessional threatens his customers. I don't recommend spending money here will most likely get treated like crap and even get threatened by owner! read more

Well, like many other reviewers and Reno locals, I've always thought of Mark, Fore & Strike as the place to get things that other places don't carry, but be prepared to pay... I recently went in to get some hard to find parts. Online price was $28.99, their price $29.99. Yup that's right! And they were knowledgeable and helpful. It had been a while since I've been in the store and I was surprised (and happy) to see that they have A LOT of guns on display. Firearms prices varied as far as being a "good deal" or not, but definitely some surprisingly good prices on some of the used guns. The few new guns I looked at were under MSRP, but maybe a couple percent higher than Sportsman's Warehouse. This used to be my first stop for fishing, and as I get more time to fish, I'll be coming back and now I have to say it will be high on my list of places to look at guns and maybe I'll soon be a gun customer as well. This place is awesome. We purchased a rifle a couple of weeks ago from them. I cleaned the gun and during the process I disassembled the bolt accidentally. Now the bolt was in pieces in a ziplock bag. I brought it over and they reassembled it for us without any hesitation. I also had a scope and rings that I needed mounted. I asked if there was a charge, the salesman Todd said there was. Since we bought the gun from him he said he would take care of it for us. Told us to hang tight and had his certified gunsmith mount it up for us for FREE! Couldn't be more impressed with the service and experience. Highly recommend. read more
