I've always had a pleasant experience coming into the store. Staff has always been friendly and knowledgeable, and never tires to upsell me on things I'm not interested in. Most recently I was in to buy a new helmet and Cardo unit. They didn't have the Cardo in stock that I wanted so it was ordered and delivered within a week. I guess I don't look like their typical customer. I walked in with my son and wife and no one ever acknowledged us. Two minutes later another couple of guys and girl walked in and the guy quickly came from behind the counter to inquire about what they wanted as they were standing right next to us.... Too bad, my son and I were looking for a couple of Bell helmets but never got an opportunity to get some help. Furthermore, as we were standing there the sales guy said how much he didn't like Bell. This Cycle Gear in South Reno is pretty decent with its knowledgeable helpful staff and wide array of products. I was looking to buy my first helmet and needed to try a couple on to get the correct size, rather then buy one guessing online. So It took me a few months to finally get in to visit the store due to COVID and them being closed. I am so glad I waited when I finally did have the chance to go in because I was given great advice and recommendations from staff, about correct sizing and safety. I ended up purchasing a Shoei RF-SR and soon after ordered a close out Sena Bluetooth. The store offered to install it for me and I took them up on it. 211pm, Saturday 6/26/2021 Came in looking for two helmets. My husband and I were not even greeted when we came in. We looked around and after ten minutes I asked for help. Austin headed over to help with a bad attitude and a heavy sigh. I mean, I'm sorry I need help, are you not here to assist customers?! I asked if he could help us get the right size helmet and he said "what I have is out on the shelf. I can order something or just get what's on the shelf." I felt very unappreciated and insignificant. We left and didn't buy anything. Terrible place to shop. If you don't want to work and help the customers, then stay your ass at home! read more

I live outside of Reno and had to drive into town for a last minute part. Called ahead to ask if they had brake levers, and when I asked if they had my specific part I was told "we have a ton of levers, and I don't have time to search it for you" (spoiler: they didn't have a huge selection of levers, if anything it was sad, and there was only one other customer in the store). I pressed further asking for more specifics just before I made the drive by giving my bike's model, and was told "yeah we should have it". I come down, wasn't helped. Had to look through the catalog myself (which is whatever, I'm competent enough for that) even though there were 3 employees, even just on their phones, kicked back. I asked them to check their inventory when I did find the part, which they so awesomely didn't have despite being told they should have it. I asked them another question and was completely ignored by all 3 employees, and had to walk around to directly face them and ask. Won't be coming here again if I actually need help, that's for sure read more

I needed some new gloves, and thanks to the great customer service, left with two pair, a hat, and a pair of boots. Nice store! Very rare that I can try on multiple brands/pairs of boots in a size 13! Anyone who rides knows it's great to be around knowledgeable, friendly, like-minded enthusiasts. Cycle Gear in Reno has the BEST pricing in the Reno area and stellar service and they always seem to be open when I need something. The guys that work there are knowledgeable and are very helpful. The Reno store is smaller than their stores in California that I'm used to but they have a better selection of gear and parts in-stock than any other bike shop in the area. read more

This place is great. I had gone to Kawasaki and Honda to try and purchase a helmet and not one employee even said hello. At Cycle Gear I was already greeted by an employee before I even stepped foot through the door. They got me test fitted with a new helmet, and since they didn't have it in stock they had to order it. I thought it would take at least a week, I was wrong. Within THREE days my helmet arrived during a holiday week, the fitment was on point, the customer service even better, I will definitely be visiting again! read more

This place royally screwed me! They turned a simple flat tire into an absolute financial nightmare, and were smug, condescending, and rude about it! I had them change the inner tube on the rear spoke wheel of my beautiful Harley (my pride n joy btw). It took them all day to complete, but that wasn't an issue for me at all. I took the wheel/tire, with the newly installed tube home and cleaned it up before putting it back onto my motorcycle. I have fat white wall tires which the person who installed the tube had scuffed up deeply in spots. But I let that slide no problem. Once getting the wheel properly lined up and tight, I took off to go somewhere and was forced to turn back, as the tire was wobbling on the rim...very noticeable so. Put the bike back on the lift and started it up in 1st gear and watched the tire wobble like crazy. I made extra sure I had mounted it correctly, and it was all perfectly aligned at the axle, and all other components reattached and tightened to specs. Took the wheel back off to take it back to Cycle Gear the next day. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the rim of the wheel had been bent, as if the tire iron they used had bent in a 1" or so dimple into it. It was very noticeable when I ran my finger around the rim. The next day I went in, and the punks at the counter were all too eager to tell me nothing could be done as the manager had the day off. They were extremely codescending and rude...gitty, almost, to send me packing. The next day I went in, and the same punk kid greeted me and said he had alerted the manager and that she "might" come out from the back of the store. I waited some 5 minutes, and out came the manager, and approached me with an attitude right off the bat! Before I even opened my mouth, she was already prepared to tell me that I was shit out of luck. I explained to her the problem, and in the most condescending manner, denied culpability, had the nerve to say that I was the culprit somehow because I let some air out of the tire to see if the bead of the tire would seat better. She asked me what exactly was it that I wanted her to do, followed immediately with a comment about her not going to buy me a new wheel...that that wasn't going to happen. I responded that I just wanted my tire and wheel to go round and round like it did before I brought it in. She responded with there was nothing wrong with the tire nor the wheel (even though it was obvious to anyone that the wheel was bent and the tire very poorly seated on the rim) and proceeded to phone some mechanic to come to the store and tell me the wheel wasn't bent. She then went off on me, about how she knows me and that all I ever do is come in and return stuff ( which is far from the truth. I've spent thousands of dollars in this place, and sure, I've returned some things, but who hasn't? I spent lots more than I was refunded, that's for sure!) The nerve of this manager was incredible. The complete lack of respect was unconscionable. How this woman is manager and that she still is employed by this company is beyond me!! She isn't fit to work in any customer service arena...at all! Anyways, to top it all off, after being treated like a piece of shit and talked down to as if I was an idiot and was making all of this up to get a new wheel outta her, I finally had had enough. After listening to this crap and being berated by this manager, I blurted out something like...oh my God, are you listening to yourself? What a piece of shit! With that, she picked up the phone and dialed 911 and had one of the punks take my photograph and photographed my vehicle and plates as I walked out with my fucked up tire and wheel in hand. So now, because of those assholes at Cycle Gear, I am now stuck with a bent rim and fucked up tire that's gonna wind up costing me close to a grand $1k! Not to mention the $40 I spent to have them destroy my wheel and tire. Here I sit, unable to ride my motorcycle, totally unable to come up with that amount of $ to fix my motorcycle, my baby, and to put the cherry on top, the weather has just finally gotten warm enough to ride, and I am unable to...because of Cycle Gear and their negligent, lying, incompetent, condescending, rude, and insulting employees. I would give them NEGATIVE STARS if it were an option. My mind is blown as to how this place is in business. They will sure as hell never get my business again, and I will make it a point to tell everyone I know and everyone I meet what a bunch of assholes they are and that their negligence and total lack of training and expertise cost me close to $1,000, and how they turned the tables on me and then called the cops on me!!! Was looking for a new helmet for my street bike and stumbled on this store at lunch one day. I had looked at a couple of motorcycle dealers but they had minimal selection. Cycle Gear had a huge selection and Christina was very helpful finding what I wanted. She helped me select a few styles and then waited patiently while I tried a few on. They really want to make sure you get the right fit and style you want. I also got a cheaper price than what I expected to pay. Great shop and I will definitely be back!
