In a word - fantastic. Barry went above and beyond to ensure I was happy. I rented a KTM Adventure that was essentially new and in perfect mechanical order. My riding gear was also high quality name brand stuff which looked and fit great as well as provided comfortable protection for my all day ride. You don't feel like you are renting a bike. You feel like you are visiting your buddy from out of town and borrowing his ride. Barry is friendly, easy to communicate with, and knows the area like the back of his hand. He gave some AWESOME ride route ideas off the beaten path- including cool places to eat and grab a beverage. I noticed two things- he had a bunch of repeat customers as I was getting ready to hit the road and he is expanding into a new larger retail shop. You don't do that in business nowadays unless you deliver for your customers. Barry is the best around! I'll be coming back to rent from him this fall. Run far, far away! I rented a KTM 890 from Nevada Adventure Rentals for a three day trip with some friends. We were clear that we weren't just cruising highways and would be doing some off-road riding. That was fine with them, these are adventure bikes after all. Well we ran into unexpected heavy rain, took a couple falls, and the bikes suffered some minor damage which we were bummed about but were willing to repair (broken mirror, clutch lever, dented hard panniers). I returned the bike, and they sent it to the shop to be fixed up. Two weeks later I was called and told they had just "discovered" something else wrong with the sub frame. Okay I thought, I didn't notice anything myself, but it's not a hard part to replace, how bad could it be? For the next two months, Barry, the apparently now behind-the-scenes owner let the bike sit in the shop with no follow up to me. I called and emailed a number times and it was clear they were in no hurry to get it back. They never knew the status of the bike and said they'd go check. The next thing I heard was a letter from the owner threatening to charge me nearly $16,000, including $12,000 for "loss of use" for every single day the bike was in the shop. That's right, he threatened to charge nearly double the value of the entire bike. When I responded that I was happy to pay for reasonable loss of use but that this seemed excessive, he didn't even respond himself, but had his lawyer send a demand letter explaining that under Nevada law "loss of use" does not have to be based on "notions of fairness, actual rental demand, or the resale value of the motorcycle" and that they could charge me based on whatever language they'd buried in the mountain of papers I'd signed at rental. They could literally let the bike sit in the shop for a year and charge me for 365 days "loss of use" with no recourse. Their paperwork also includes language claiming you will be responsible for legal fees regardless of the outcome of any litigation. It all seems incredibly well calculated to extort as much money as possible out of hapless renters. After this incident I went through their reviews and it's not hard to find other people with similar stories. It's clear this is a shady business built around shaking down the occasional customer to try to cash in on depreciated bikes. It's unfortunate that it's one of the only shops in Reno. Hope someone else opens an outfitter that isn't out to target and scam customers. read more

First, my wife posted a negative review about this company on Google, and it was scrubbed! I rented an ATV from here for approximately 350.00 for a day. Took it up a mountain trail, returned it the same day, worker who received it shook my hand and said I'd receive my 3500.00 deposit the next day. That never happened! I called inquiring about my money...the owner calls berating my over the phone for calling his store. I'm hit with 1200.00 repair bill for the ATV. This owner keeps my 3500.00 deposit and charges me an additional 2080.00 for 13 days the atv was supposedly being repaired. He has yet to provide me with an itemized bill. I had to call my credit card company to report these bogus charges. This guy is a thief!!! TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE!!! read more

This place is fantastic. Rented the HD street glide to cruise the lake. My wife loved the ride as did I. The bike was in great condition. If we hadn't had another couple coming out, I would've used it the entire week. Had zero issues immediately getting the deposit back upon returning it in satisfactory condition. The gentleman working there, Aaron, was awesome. Incredibly helpful and hospitable. I was researching ATVs for my son's 11th birthday. I called and spoke with Barry. I also asked if he could email me a quote. He emailed me the quotation, and I was okay with the amount. When I told him I would like to move forward with the reservation, he emailed me back to say that there was a 6,500 deposit. To me, that could have been mentioned over the phone or in the quote. I emailed him and said that was fine too. He asked the date, and I told him. He never emailed me back. It seemed like he was telling me information so that I wouldn't move forward with the reservation. From our conversation, I feel like he realized I'm African American. My niece was crying in the background, and he claimed the noise was too loud for us to continue our conversation, which was fine. Due to my experience, I wouldn't care to book a reservation. If Barry didn't want us to move forward with our request, he should have said that. But no worries, he received his wish. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS LOCATION!!! read more

Such an awesome experience, Mitchell hooked us up with riding gear for the day and was very helpful and knowledgeable. This is the perfect way to check out scenery and explore. Had an impromptu Company retreat come up in Incline Village and wanted to set up a few activities for the team. Called Barry on Friday night 4 minutes before close asking for a tall order the following Wednesday.. he gladly helped me out on the spot and got everything booked and reserved. Pick up of the vehicles was easy as a trailer was provided and already loaded up when we got there. The instructions were clear and concise and the recommended spot to ride everything was epic! Was in Reno for the weekend and was looking to rent a UTV for the day. Shopped around and found NAR on Yelp. Their prices were much cheaper than the other places I was looking at in Reno or South Lake Tahoe. I rented a Polaris Ranger and it looked and drove amazing. It had more than enough power to climb the steep inclines on the trails. Barry and and his staff were very friendly and helpful as well. Since I'm not from the area they even recommended a great place to ride. They put the UTV on a trailer and I followed them to this place called Moonrocks. I had a fantastic experience and the trails were beautiful with wonderful views. I highly recommend NAR and will definitely rent from them again when I'm in town! read more

Barry was great with communication prior to my arrival, very friendly, and right away on meeting him I could tell he knows his business. I rented the Honda 250 for a day to get out in the hills around Reno. The bike was in great shape, really better than I expected. In addition, the door to door service from/to the airport was awesome. My only recommendation would be for a more substantial tool kit, since I had a mirror come loose on a gravel road, but no complaints at all with the experience, the service, or anything. Reno resident. I rented 2 different motorcycles in one weekend. The rental process was VERY simple. I used the online form, got a call back, credit card out, done. Rolled in there after work on Friday with my gear and it was on! Both Barry and Glen got me going. Both are friendly, experienced, and enthusiasts. They know their motorcycles, gear and have local knowledge. I am very grateful that this business exists. As someone who is considering a replacement of their current bike, I was able to tease out two contrasting motorcycles, each for a 24hr period, in all the conditions I normally ride in northern Nevada. Besides being a bit worn out on Sunday, I learned so much about what truly matters to me as a rider and what my personal common denominator is as a dyed in the wool dual sporter, and what I can truly live without. The bikes were set up perfectly; hand guards, skid plates, luggage racks, etc. And ran flawlessly. Again, grateful for the opportunity to go WAY beyond a dealership test ride. Although I didn't need the gear, there is a ton of it to test out also. From motorcycle specific clothing to camping to luggage to get you 'out there' it is all in one place. I was a little shocked at how comprehensive it is. I highly recommend Nevada Adventure Rentals. I will be back for bike and gear rentals.
