I bought valve covers. During installation, one broke, at the stamping bend, near a bolt hole. I'm sure I didn't over tourqe it, as it was less than 5 foot pounds, but it really looks like it was human error, over tightening, during installation. Summit took my word and sent me a replacement. They also gave me a discount on the gasket as my old one was wrecked in the corse of dealing with the defective valve cover. read more

This is for a phone order. I ordered leaf springs for my second cj7 80 jeep and was told there would be an additional 19.95$. Was told by the lady that because it is bulky and oversized and weigh more. Wow! This is new to me nonetheless I ordered and when they arrived I was expecting 2 leaf springs in a box. Well they were not boxed and loose , individual ones. They were left in the dirt and pebbles, all scraped up. Yes I know they will get scraped and dirty but can I be the one that foes that? Nothing bulky or heavy or even oversized about them. Ironically I purchased a engine hoist ( cherry picker) from a competitor of yours and no extra charge for delivery. Now that was bulky oversized and weighed at least 75 lbs. if summit would care to look at my account of how much I have spent in the last two years!! Guess I am not a good customer and will start shopping around. Which I never did before I only contacted summit first and never shopped around. I get it with the fees being more fir deliveries but don't tell me they are bulky, heavy and oversized and then send them loose. I am 65 and picked one up with one hand!!! read more

Summit Racing - A Masterclass in Inefficiency I walked into Summit Racing expecting a quick visit. What I got was a full-blown endurance test of patience. It started with a door greeter--clearly physically limited, yet insistent on escorting me to the product instead of just pointing. While I appreciate the effort, that move eliminates any chance I might browse for additional items. I grabbed what I came for and realized I needed one more inexpensive part--about $7. I asked an employee where to find it, and instead of helping, she just pointed to a line of 10 people. So I waited. When I got to the register, the guy behind it was slouched in a chair, resting his head on the counter like he was about to nap. He scanned my product and said it was all set. I asked where to pick it up, and he pointed me to another line--this one about 15 people deep. I waited again. Finally, I got to the front, the guy rang up my items, handed me a bag... and my $7 item wasn't in it. When I asked, he pointed to another line to stand in to get it. So back in line I went--for the third time. Fifteen more minutes pass. One poor guy is pulling orders while three others stand at the register chatting and doing absolutely nothing. When the orders come out, mine is clearly one of them--just a small part. The customer in front of me wants to open his boxes, check fitment, color, function, maybe even alignment with the stars. I politely ask if I can just grab my tiny part and go. The staff says, "No. You must wait." So I did--seven more minutes--because policies apparently matter more than people. This entire system is broken. Unnecessarily complicated, painfully slow, and staffed by people who don't seem to care if you ever come back. Spoiler: I won't. Summit Racing, you've lost a customer. And I honestly have no idea how you're still in business with a setup like this. read more

After ordering a part, I checked out some shirts, then used the restroom. The store guard followed me in, then went out and was standing by the door as I walked out. I walked around some more while waiting for my order. The guard kept watching me the entire time I was in the store. I returned the item that I purchased and left. I returned the next day and talked with a manager, explaining that being Mexican, doesn't make me a shoplifter, as I told the guard when I walked out of the restroom. I called summit racing today 1/28 and got nothing but argument and run around. they wont warranty the camshaft or lifters and WONT escalate the problem to get help. I have spent thousands and thousands of dollars with Summit racing but that will now be my last purchase. Their supply is quite extensive. We called in advance and knew they were open seven days per week so we stopped in on a Sunday morning. They have a variety of items for classic cars, off-road vehicles and general vehicle maintenance. We enjoyed looking around and purchased a few items and were happy with the price and selection. This is the most difficult company to deal with if you are not close to their store. you can't send your wife or friend to pick up your order. You can't order and pay and then have them cancel at time of pickup and rebill in your wife's credit card so she can get the parts. Numerous times I have tried and tried to get parts from summit when I cannot be present, and it is impossible. I have had to send a friend who had cash and Zelle them the money back. This time my wife is just going to try to order a duplicate order in her name and hope I did not tie up the last one of something. I call and try to get help with this problem, but Summit does not Care. not just once but every single time. Multiple times I have unsuccessfully tried to buy from Summit. It only works if I have parts shipped. If there was any other store that had the part in stock, I would boycott summit racing. Ordered a part from them, when placing the order I paid extra for shipping to have the part arrive on time, order sat in a ready to ship status, when I reached out to find out what was going on they informed me it was on hold and to call them. I call them just to find out they needed to verify the billing address even though it was the same as the shipping address. Now the part is going to be delayed 2 to 3 days from the expected arrival time. When I ask them why they didn't reach out they just defer the question and say that if the timeline doesn't work they will send me an envelope to send the part back. Ordered parts on August 7th. I called on the 8th because the order was not processed. The support person told me that they would be shipped on the 8th out of Reno. Checked ordered status today and it still says pending. Contacted the support center today the 9th and they said, "there was an influx of orders, and they would not be shipped out until Monday the 11th". Why didn't they tell me that on Friday? The support center said that the salesmen only can see what they have in stock not what the warehouse is doing. I guess my question is why not? I am on the phone with the support center, and they should be able to give you correct answers? I did finally figure out what really happed as a friend sent me a video of him on a warehouse tour at Summit Racing in Reno on Friday the 8th for Hot August nights!! I didn't see any employees in the warehouse. If they would have told me that in the first place, I would have told my customer. As a longtime customer for over 20 years, a little honesty can go a long way. I am headed to the local speed shop to purchase my parts, and I know it is going to be more expensive, but at least the place will be honest with me. We received an erroneous delivery of racing tires from this company and contacted them right away. They in turn reached out to whoever placed the order and gave them our address information. A few hours later, someone claiming to be the owner of the racing tires showed up at my house and retrieved them. As soon as I found out I called the company again to let him know that they could cancel their pick up call tag. I was asked to hold the line (btw, they have some good shit kicker hold music... if you're into that) and they transferred me to a woman to inform her that this issue had been resolved in their favor (so I thought). After already spending at least half an hour on the phone with this company today (for an order that I didn't place and then to be saddled with the responsibility of holding onto their merchandise for upto 2-3 days while OnTrac picked it up), I was greeted by a woman who was both rude and ungrateful (a jerk)... who proceeded to tell me she "didn't need anymore information about this issue". I wish this woman would have given me her name so I could let you know who not to talk to if you ever have a problem with your order, but she didn't offer it; however, it was very apparent that she has a problem, and doesn't take kindly to good deeds. I think that based on the delays and confusion over the phone with these people they all need to be retrained in customer service. I'm glad I don't do business with you, and even more glad I don't expect to. PS. 3/3/23 update! UPS showed up at my door this morning looking for the same tires that this woman "didn't need any more information on" ... how about that? Talk about incompetence.... PS. 3/6/23 Another Update! He looked it up and said he had it, and then informed I had to go to counter #2 to pay for it since I didn't have an account.Guy at counter #2 asked if I had an account , I said no, I'm a cash customer. When I swiped my credit card at the card reader in front of me he said "NO CARDS...CASH!" There I handed them my paid ticket and waited another 5 minutes for a tube of glue to be pulled and brought to me. It took THREE store employees to handle this simple purchase- WOW.
