I haven't been as upset with a company as I am now for decades. Charge for its services was $595.40. I made an appointment for washing and waxing my 25 foot RV, a service that they advertise on their site. When I got there, I was told they haven't done this for four years. ??? As also scheduled, I had them change the oil, check the tire pressure, check the roof for leaks and add propane. Only this for $595.40 They advertise that they have products for RV and I did purchase a few things, but they didn't have the induction cookware that I need to cook on the stove in my RV. For that I went to Amazon. The people there were pleasant, but one of the employees said the reason that they no longer offer washing and waxing of RVs is because the "illegal aliens" are scared of being deported. Jamie, the manager said that wasn't true. They haven't offered washing and waxing for the four years that she's been working there. read more

Been going here for years. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. They do try to work with you on getting emergency service or parts. I called them this time as my RV air was not blowing cold enough air. I do shop around and Safari was $200 cheaper than the competitors. The service department really worked hard to get me in. Unfortunately, we were 2 days from departing, so I just couldn't get it done in time. In the past, I have had them put three different tow hitch is on three vehicles. They even put a tow hitch on the back of my trailer so I could attach a bike rack. They have installed leveling jacks on two of my trailers. I have purchased many RV plumbing supplies from them as well as once in a while they'll have a sale on camping goods like really nice chairs. They also have a sister store in Redding California that we visited and had a 13,500 btu Air con on our old trailer. I highly recommend this place for your future RV needs. read more

Took my travel trailer in to diagnose an apparent electrical issue and evaluate the power tongue jack not working. BEWARE: the labor rate here is $225.00/hour! I had an appointment for 9:30 on a particular date and when I dropped it off they told me it would be two weeks before they would look at it. Why did I make an appointment to find out it would be two weeks before the tech would diagnose the problem? They did not provide me with an estimate of cost, NOR tell me up front of the hourly rate for the tech. Since the trailer was there anyway, I asked them to add in repacking the wheel bearings. The charge alone for that was two hours at, you guessed it, $225.00/hour for a total of $450. An auto mechanic could have completed this procedure for 1/3 of the cost. I have purchased parts at this store multiple times and found the prices for parts reasonable and received friendly service. I will certainly hesitate to use the Service Department for any future repairs, especially if there is any chance I can make the repairs myself. I could have changed out the power tongue jack with a brand new one at 1/3 of the cost of this invoice. I now know there is no electrical issue on the trailer, I know the power jack needs replacing (I will do this myself), and the wheel bearings are lubricated all at a cost of $925.00! Paying an RV tech $225.00/hour is insane. read more

I was in a rush to get a Surge Protector for a 10 day road trip. I Couldn't get it from my local store or Amazon prime order so I called safari stores and placed the item order over the phone. Customer service was excellent despite the negative reviews here. It was a next day delivery and I was coming three hours away and stopping in Reno. How perfect! Pickup was easy with no issues. I was recommended this business by a local so I was sure I would be in the right hands but apparently not. I just called to get a little information about ordering a water heater and the guy on the phone has zero patience. He was talking to customers in the background as I was trying to explain what I was looking for and even mentioned they were VERY BUSY with it being burning man. Which I get you are busy but there's a polite way to speak to a potential customer who is about to drop hundreds of dollars. Our trailer was in an accident and Safari was the only place that called us back and was willing to drive out to Carson City to see the damage not even places in Carson City where willing to come look and assess the damage. As a full timer, regardless of my local, I will always attempt to do business with a "mom & pop" outfit. Only going online, when the part isn't reasonably available or the pricing gap is unjustifiable. Reno is my home base & when I'm here, I've used Safari's parts & service center to the tune of several thousand $$. No longer though. Bizarrely, there has been an ever increasing "attitude" being projected by the staff, that comes nowhere near "Customer Service". With my efforts to obtain a part yesterday, being the final straw. The story is irrelevant. What is? I will never go back due to the extreme rudeness I had to manage, until I couldn't. It's as if they have no clue, I can get the same parts online, well below Safari's very high pricing premiums, within a day or two. Failing repeatedly to both offer any sort of "thanks for your business", as well as recognize, online sales are crushing them. By way of offering their valued customer absolutely no "added value", justifying their very high pricing represents. Offering nothing but... A nasty attitude! My wet bay door was jammed shut. I tried everything to get into it. I called multiple mobile Rv repair outfits and locksmith but no one could help me. Needless to say.. I couldn't use my coach without a wet bay. Safari Rv repair got the door open without damage to the door or the lock!! They were fast and professional. I wis that I had gone straight to them. I bought a 15W solar panel with the box clearly marked as "Charges your battery". Needless to say it did not perform; not Safari RV's fault but, I call them to return the product and guess what, the parts mangers said "I explained you that you need a 100W solar panel for that job" - No, you did not; why would I buy a 15W panel when it would not do the job??? I would not buy anything from them, even if the price is lower, what happens if the products doesn't work? You are better off buying from an on line outfit such as Camping World, with a good return policy and better customer service. 6/13/20 update Just went here again today- very helpful and knowledgeable people here! Can't recommend enough!! I don't know what happened for other reviewers to say these folks are not nice. The Yelp reviews had me nervous to bring our 5th wheel in for services but our friends highly recommended them so we went. We wanted to camp on Thursday and brought our RV in on Tuesday. They replaced the brake assemblies and repacked our bearings that day (even though they appeared very busy) for us. The service advisor (Kevin) and the mechanic (Arguello) were very friendly and went out of their way to explain why they had to do the work (even showed us the assembly they had to remove). All in all very glad I didn't solely rely on reviews. We will be bringing our RV back here for future . read more

It's a fairly big local stores dedicated to RV. if you know what you want exactly, you can buy a bit cheaper somewhere else. If not, these guys can help. They may not be the most friendly people in the world, but they know stuff and are willing to help. It wasn't crowded but customers kept coming (usually one or two other customers all the time for one hour visit for me), and there was only one guy working, so he was a bit busy. He was helpful nonetheless. The shop has interesting stuff, so it was worth for me to pay a visit. I wouldn't mind going there again for personal service. I had heard about this shop but never had the need to visit until I had an emergency repair to make ahead of an incoming storm and Safari was the only place open on Sunday. I didn't expect the large amount of inventory they had on hand Since I'd imagined it was going to be a standard small store with random Camco parts like sewer hoses and maybe an inverter. No, they have so much it was as if you could build an RV just from parts they had in stock: sinks, wheels, whole electronic and fresh water subsystems, camp gear, cabinetry, satellite gear, tow rig hardware, ovens, fridges, etc. I got exactly what I needed but took a moment to browse the shop and pick up some other items. I'm sure they've saved a lot of RV'ers butts. It's hard running retail in the age of Amazon, but in the future I'll check Safari for Rv parts before just defaulting to online purchases. read more

We have gone to, Safari through the ownership of three motor homes.... They have been there for us, every step of the way. In parts and service. Actually talked to, Steve today, and am impressed with the vast knowledge in all things RV. The parts dept. has always assisted in anyway possible. The service dept. are phenomenal. A few Years ago, Jesse & his amazing family. His Father even leaving late for his already planned holiday camping, to make sure our motor home was road ready. Now, they have: Jamie...she is incredible, the complete package. Obviously enjoys what she is doing and is excellent with people. She is astute, extremely knowledgeable with her previous 17 years of experience as a manager in service at Sierra RV. For those of us who really like Safari, we are blessed to have her & all the amazing staff whom we have had the pleasure to work with. ( I would like to point out, that most all RV service etc...are booking appointments at approx. a month in advance or more. Batteries are currently on back order. For a month to 5 months depending on the battery. Also, Warranty repair comes in all shapes and sizes. Do not expect miracles. Be realistic and respectful. And, then you will get it in return: here!) I was only in reno for a few while traveling, I've had a problem with my dvr system which was covered by my extended warranty. I called them a week ahead of time to make sure I could get this replaced, which they said they could. Made a appointment, I had already called my warranty company to make sure it was covered (I have a $100 deductible). When I got there they told me I had to pay at least another $180 PLUS over my deductible. I asked why they didn't tell me before so I could have found another place to take all I got was sorry. Great people, great service! We are new to the RV world. We bought a used RV and had the team at Safari do an end to end inspection and repair any defects. They only had a short list of repairs and the price was reasonable. One repair was not done correctly, when I came back they apologized and took care of it immediately only charging for parts. I have a 36 foot 98 pace arrow so something is always going haywire. Safari always gets me in and gets the work done quickly at a fair price. Came across Safari while looking for LPG for Burning Man... And yay, a dump station too. Decide to check the place out and got talking to Jesse about our uncooperative generator. Safari checked it out and had a fix. One breakfast across the street later, the RV generator is purring (as much as an Onan can) and the AC is on, and the A/C is on! I can sum this up with a quote from the service manager, who told me, "we're a monopoly." That's what I heard when I mentioned I was going to write a Yelp review saying I didn't like the way I was treated. I came in on Sept. 21 with a broken wastewater tank on my 2001 LTV class B and said I need a quick assessment, because I am en route. Most places will put it on the rack and you immediately see it's a big problem -- something that means more than a one-day stop. Nope. I left it overnight and called twice to find out when I could get my RV. At about 3:30, I got a call saying it was a big problem. Please note: I never raised my voice or got mad. I paid for an hour $185 minimum and heard bad news. I arrived and paid and asked for the service manager,'s name, which I didn't get. Instead, I was told that people should expect a six week wait for major repairs and I could take my business elsewhere. Okay. We're having a bad day. We're also running a business. I never got mad. I got yelled at and told to go ahead and say bad things, and never cone back. I won't. What is my review going to accomplish anyway. We're a monopoly! Maybe a lot of people won't come back. Won't use them for RV parts or repair again - horrible customer service - took the RV in for winterization, small repair on awning mechanism and to check out roof - recommendation was total roof replacement - ok so we have an older RV but whatever... after several months and $4000+ later we go to pick up RV - to my dismay, the RV was filthy dirty because they didn't bother to clean it after repair - not just a little dirt from roof repair but pieces of wood and dust everywhere! Am so disgusted at their total lack of concern for people's possessions - did they not have someone check it when they called and said it was ready??? What kind of service company does this??? They offered to clean when I asked about it did they really think we would wait around for hours when we were ready to pick it up then? And after seeing how dirty it was, there was no way it was going to be cleaned in a short amount of time - and of course, now I have to take any linens to be cleaned at a professional cleaners - what a rip off! read more

After calling many RV businesses in the sacramento valley and reno areas...on the road ....was unable to find anyone to look at my defective water heater..contacted Safari RV..talked to Kevin...he set me up with an appointment within a couple days....took it in this morning at 10am...water heater and my oven was repaired...was out of there before noon...the mechanic Tracy was very informative and thorough with the repairs....i couldn't be happier......5 star all the way........I'M A HAPPY CAMPER....Buzz Gordon read more
