This is the store I like to check out every time when I am in Reno. Very cool! I love their wild animals' sim. Looks really and I feel I am really in the forest! The store carries a lot of hiking, camping, and hunting equipment and some items are hard to found in somewhere else. The price is also reasonable. I wish we have a Cabela's in the Sacramento area too! The customer services are good. I can almost always found someone assists me when I have questions. They have pretty long lines at the checkout. But the lines are moving very fast. I have about 9-10 customers in front of me. It took less than 5 minutes to wait time only. The parking lots are clean and very big. It looks very safe too! I found my parking not far from the main entrance right away! I am very enjoyed shopping in Cabela's! I recommend you come to check them out by yourself next time when you come to Reno! read more

Love this store... great selection of guns, rifles, knives and ammunition ..what is a girl not to like... However, I am a CA girl so I can't walk out with a Glock and drive home unless I pay the transfer fees and CA fees ....sucks ... Also, the the ammunition is more expensive in NV then it is in CA. The clothing is great quality and love to buy my sub zero socks here for the winter weather. The staff is incredible ...I was looking for a particular jacket and the salesgirl helped me find exactly what I wanted. I love the animal displays and variety of coats, weather resistant clothing and hunting gear. Over all this store is clean, organized and the displays are beautiful... Thank you to Michael, in Fishing. We came in for a fish finder that's on special. It was sold out but he took care of us at customer service and we have one on order. We were able to use our cabela club card and get triple points as well as a rebate. Michael and the team at customer service were so helpful recommending we have it delivered there to the store. We can't wait to get the fish finder since the one we have is about 30 years old. It's just nice to know that when we go to Cabela's their experts there to help us every step of the way. read more

So Cabela's is something like Scheel's brother. Both provide a great shopping experience for the outdoorsy! What would you come here to buy? -Outdoor sports equipment, accessories, shoes and clothing (including guns) Can I eat here? -YES! And you should try it! Should I take my kids here? -YES! There's a lot of taxidermy for kids to look at, little aquarium, shooting game with toy guns, etc. Location: Located to the right of I-80 when you're leaving Reno, going west towards California. It's next to Boomtown. Staff: Super friendly staff! My 4 year old made a mess with the icee machine, and a woman who worked in the cafe helped him as if he were her own grandson, lol. It was super sweet of her! She cleaned him off as I was trying to clean the floor. Food: After letting the kids stand in awe of the cool animals around Cabelas, as well as the aquarium, we headed over to their cafe for some lunch. *Kids meal -Corn dog was a little hard. -Mac & cheese looks like Kraft's -Fries were delicious *Legend Burger -Buffalo burger with brisket -I LOVE THIS BURGER! My mouth is watering even thinking about it. It's so good! It has a great, smokey barbecue taste to it, really tender buffalo and brisket. Even the bread is tasty! Whew! Wow. Never been to any before and have to confess I fell head over heels in love with the place. Much better than Scheels as far as I'm concerned. It's not often a shopping trip teaches you about local wildlife. The staff there is amazing. From the woman who greeted us to the guy who answered my questions about the different big game animals to the gentleman who took time to chat and make us feel welcome, it was indeed a fun time. This is probably my 3rd time at this particular Cabela's heading to or coming home from a weekend trip to Reno. Place is huge! Excellent decoration with all of the Animals. This place is awesome! It's like a Toys R Us for the die hard outdoorsy person. The place is a little tricky to find once you exit the highway. Do not turn behind the gas station, but instead use the roundabout and follow that around to the front entrance. We went on a Friday night and to our surprise, the place was pretty empty. The first place we went to was the general store, where they make HOMEMADE fudge. The lady at the counter was a complete sweetheart and let us sample as many different flavors as we liked. We stopped by the sunglass display and the guy there was very helpful and fixed my bent sunglasses. Shortly after, we stopped by the shooting gallery where they have a token operated game where you get to shoot different targets and objects. We felt like we were at Chuck E Cheese! The store was about to close, so we checked out the fishing dept and fish tanks. So much to look at! I think you can spend half you day there if you want to see everything. I went there today to buy a gun on sale that was on their flyer. They said they sold out so I asked if I can still order one. The person at the gun counter tells me to go to customer service and that they can order it for me there. The lady at the customer service desk tries to go online to order this gun. I find out she doesn't even know how to search the internet and can't find it online. After about 20 minutes she tells me that I have to go back to the gun counter and special order one there. So back back to the gun counter I go. I explain to the guy behind the counter that I just want to order and buy this gun on the flyer and that the customer service lady just sent me back to the gun counter. The guy starts to tell me that they don't do special orders, I have to go to customer service. It was becoming clear that I was getting the runaround and that they were either lazy about ordering the gun or they didn't know what they were doing. Anyways, the guy takes down my name and phone number and tells me that the gun will be there in 5 days. 1/2 an hour just to order a gun! We'll see in 5 days if they even put in the order. I should've just bought somewhere else. If I ever get the gun, I'll never buy anything from Cabela's again. What a wasted trip. read more

Cabela's have the majority of your outdoor needs! I love coming here to look at their wildlife displays. It's a bonus when they have events for kids!! Parking- there is plenty of parking for all. I never had an issue on finding a spot. There is even spots to park trailers without worrying about being stick. Staff- every time I come here the staff welcomes the costumers. When needing help Rey are helpful and friendly. Each time I visit the gun section they are nice and knowledgeable on their items. Environment- their environment is large. It is open and clutter free. It is easy to see and locate items. I love the displays all around the store so you can see the items before purchasing. Not everything is displayed only larger items. Bathrooms- well I could only speak for the women's. It's is clean and well maintained. There always seems to be a person in there keeping up with the maintenance. Pricing- this is where it lost a star. Some of the items are price reasonable. However other are not. The items are vary from a bit higher to a lot higher. It really depends on what your looking for. Went into Cabela's to do some winter shopping couldn't find any sweats for my daughter They told me that they were discontinued went to go and do the toy gun to shoot at the shooting arena did not work the was not working i went to go and check out. We had a person named Susan very rude. She told my daughter that she's independent all my daughter wanted to do was help I wanted to put some stuff that was in front of the shopping cart moved to the back so I could put on the counter afterwards and she got rude at me and I got rude right back. Cabela's restrooms used to be a nice place clean nothing was never broken. My husband went into the men's restroom. They had a out of order sign on one of the bathroom stalls, one faucet was falling out of the counter Cabela's falling apart, never had that they always used to be clean. Everything was always nice and fixed cabela's is really going downhill and they were always very pleasant at the store too I do not recommend this place until they start changing and fixing things read more

The have a gun room called the Library that usually has Old , Historical and Collector Firearms for Sale.. They also have a lot of Ammo for sale even hard to find Calibers The store staff is usually Friendly and Very Helpful. Once in a while, you have to satisfy your inner redneck in you. This is exactly the place for it. Like Tim Allen, you'll start grunting and feeling like a MAN walking in here. Duck Dynasty, Moonshiners, Swamp People, Gator Boys, Honey Boo Boo, Sons of Guns, WWE and any Fishing Show all wrapped into one ginormous place. Not that I watch these shows (save for Swamp People), but I get the feeling that they would all shop in a place just like this. It's right across Boomtown right before Reno on I-80, and it's hard not to miss it. I mean they must have every outdoor-related gear ever invented in this place. All kinds of Guns, Ammunitions, Knives, Fishing Poles, Nets, Traps, Decoys, Camouflage, Camping, Hunting, Skinning and Killing devices known to man. Great selection of quality outdoors stuff. Almost everything you want! I went on a weekend motor homes were for sale, both new and used. Spent the afternoon looking at them. Then wandered through the store picked up Agee things and even got a credit card. The card was quick and made right then so fast! The cashier Adam was friendly and joked with me while we were checking out. Nothing negative until I broke a mug I purchased and no fault of the store but I went back in and told them I dropped it accidentally. (You never do this on purpose) but Adam called the supervisor and I explained what I did and they gave me a new cup. This was great service for an accident that was really my fault. I will go back and purchase outdoor gear again! Again great service. Oh my girlfriend had kind words too. She was helped a lot while looking for clothes. Cabela's has been a staple for years for us for all of our outdoorsy needs. Clothes, check. Camping gear, check. Guns and ammo, check. Food prep, check. I mean I don't think there's a department here we haven't shopped in. However, I'd have to give Cabela's 2 stars these days. Maybe it's due to COVID, but the shelves don't have as much as they used to, they've been out of products more than once when we've made our trek there, and in our most recent experience, my husband was tricked into signing up for a "Rewards Card" that was sold to us when we walked in like any other "free rewards club." The lady telling us about it mentioned everything EXCEPT the fact that we were applying for a credit card. Legit and deceptive sneak attack. Not cool and definitely a violation of UDAAP policies and regulations. ...And she had the gall to just say "I thought I told you you were applying for a credit card?" Really? Hmmm... CapitalOne (Their Credit Card backer) should really be keyed in to these deceptive sales practices... so, we unknowingly applied for a credit card, got a hard hit on credit report and have a "letter coming to us" with more info. Not exactly what we came for... So... lesson learned... be aware of their "Free Rewards Club" and call ahead to see if they have something in stock (including actually asking them to go out and confirm it's on the floor - the story of 'making a 3 hour drive and NOT having the item in stock we called about', is a story for another day and time...). read more

I'm basing this rating on a recent visit to this location to have a scope mounted on a rifle. Let me start by saying Cabela's has an excellent policy on scope mounting and that's what drew me in to their store. They don't require that you purchase the rifle or the scope from them and they will still install it for free. I really wish I could remember the guy's name, but I walked up to the counter to inquire about their scope mounting policy. He explained the policy to me and was straightforward. I also explained to him that I recently had my scope mounted by another sporting goods store and I had a feeling that it was mounted crooked and it was way off. He asked if I had everything with me and offered to help. He met me at the front of the store to check everything out, walked me back to the firearms department, then took the time to explain what he was going to do. When my rifle was finished I was told that the scope was mounted crooked and now it's good out to 100 yards. I will continue to do business with Cabela's from now on even if I have to drive 100+ miles to their store. I'm glad they haven't adopted the crappy Bass Pro Shop attitude. Basically everything you need for the following: Hunting Camping Hiking Kayaking Fishing And other odds and ends that bring up the outliers that REI doesn't encompass. Right off the 80 right before you get to Tahoe, Cabela's is the outdoorsmans' wet dream and this one is huge. Like a Costco and this one even has a coffee shop/treats if you are willing! They carry a good quantity of North Face items but if those are a bit beyond your price range, they have their own label that is usually 1/2 to 1/3 the cost. In addition, there are firearms for your purchase if you are so inclined, not that you need them if you are not a hunter or into sharpshooting. Plus if you look like a hoodlum, I'm pretty sure you'll feel really tiny and small in here. I purchased a pair of socks and a knife that folds away for a good deal. You never know when you find yourself out in the wild and tied to a tree. Good service, staff that didn't make me feel like a minority in the current Trump induced hate atmosphere, and prices that are quite competitive. read more

I went in yesterday to check out a rifle. I NEEDED one....really, since I have a tag to hunt Antelope this August! Kinda like going to a dance. You cannot wear the old shoes. Gotta get new ones! Larger ones, in this case, since my other rifles won't quite cut it. So, I just HAD to stop in to see what was available. Anyway, I found a nice Savage Axis 30.06 caliber rifle. I found it on the "used rack" but it darn sure looks like it is unfired. It is the SP model, so it comes with a scope. I'll have to find somewhere to sight in this thing without starting a brush fire, since it is so dry out here.....lol. The price: not too shabby at $350. They gave a ten percent discount (on some rifles this month, I'm guessing) so that was nice. I see that there are several on a gun site (ha-ha get it, "gun site"....."sight".....lol) that are a little cheaper, but I figured after shipping cost and such I'd rather see the rifle before spending on one. read more

I went in to grab a little bit of ammo and a pair of boots. I swear I was asked 10 times by different employees to buy into their "club card" credit card. This is the third time I've had this experience at this store. I'm now going to avoid this Cabela's as best as I can. This shoving of credit cards down our throats completely destroys the shopping experience. I swear this place acts like a bank more than a store. read more

Who doesn't love this place? I stop here every time I pass through especially when I have out of town guests. The selection is huge and pleased with the quality. I like the hand written local fishing report. I would have given 5 stars but the I think the taxidermy of the Rhino with the displayed media propaganda was a bit too much. Stopped here on a recent trip into the snows of Reno. Always fun for the kids to see the animals, and we had some adults with us this trip who are new to Cabela's so showed them around. They were quite impressed with everything this place offers. Had to get some fudge, of course, and got the peppermint bark (seasonal!) and some praline, which just looked so dang good! The biggest surprise, through, was not new fudge flavors but meeting Santa at his workshop!! It was hidden past the candy shop, and we didn't see signs about it coming into the store. This Santa entertained kids and adults alike, and if he isn't the REAL Santa, then I don't know what to tell you! The kids even came away with goodies - coloring projects, a fuzzy penguin soft ball figure, another felt penguin and a complimentary photo with Santa - sooooo generous, and unexpected! What a real treat it was - many thanks to Cabela's for hosting Santa this time of year. Forget asking the gal at the rewards counter for details, she lacks focus & professionalism. Too bad...my 1st Time into this mammoth store which seems to sell as much junk food as it does clothing. They have a questionable rewards & return policy with Bass pro. Save your money & shop small at local privately owned sport stores with employees who actually know & understand the products. Over the last three years we have come to this store a few more times, and each time it just gets better and better! I'm happy to report that in our last couple visits, the staffing has been plentiful and the help has been top-notch and friendly. I always look forward to coming here and in our last couple visits we have scored some seriously AWESOME deals! Last time they were having TONS of sales for Labor Day and I bought way more merch than I should have, but heck, its Cabela's, I felt the need to splurge! I'm also happy to report that on our last visit, the aquarium in the back looked very well-kept, and the algae adorning the acrylic windows was nowhere to be seen! It looked like the tank had just been re-stocked with some young trout that looked good and healthy, so bravo to this Cabela's aquarist! Also in the last couple years we have found their restaurant inside, where you can get some awesome sandwiches and burgers. We get their elk sandwich almost every time we come here, and its really really good! I also get their fried cheese curds, which are awesome, and it also comes with a drink so its perfect for lunch after shopping around the store. We are usually on a road trip when we come here anyway, so its great to eat before getting back on the road. Overall I would honestly give them a 5-star rating if it weren't for one little negative....the ONLY thing I can still say is that this location in Reno does not have a Bargain Cave....LOVE the Bargain Caves!! Once they get this I will for sure change my review to 5 stars because this Cabela's has become one of my favorite stops when we are in the area! read more

My daughter is a County girl stuck in the suburbs of life. So while driving from Reno to home she had her to do list. That list was shop at Cabela's. Now if it involved my husband we wouldn't have made it home until midnight, so good thing it was just her and a friend. We walk in and off they go to check out all the taxidermy animals, then the aquariums with river and lake finish. Next I find them shopping for "I have to get a Cabela's sweatshirt" isle. So of course they were on sale, and she out grew her pink one, so she got the camo white one and her friend got the camo purple. Both were on sale, so lucky mom. There is so many things to look at and buy. Even the non-outdoor girl was looking for her Prana needs on the sale rack. If you're driving 80 outside of Reno this is a must stop.
