A wonderful event with AARP, hosted by Reno Food Systems on Mayberry. A how to of floral arranging. We all had such a great time. Reno Food Systems is a must go for everyone that loves fresh veggies and beautiful flowers. It's open Sundays from 3-7, April through October.

What an adventure in learning. Jolene's passion for GrowingNv is evidenced by the sparkle in her eyes and her general animation when she shares with us. Her knowledge of local farmers and farmer's markets is phenomenal. I will be following her for sure on GrowingNv. Mary is knowledgeable and freely shares her herbal expertise with us. We started with Mock-Cocktails. Start with a cup of ice, add sparkling water, and about 2oz of your favorite syrup. I chose the Elderberry with a mint sprig to stir it all up. Yummy! Next we toured the farm while out syrup reduced and checked in on all the ingredients for our Herbal Respiratory Syrup Recipe. Started with mint, then thyme, next was the velvety soft leaves of the marshmallow plant, and finally, the elecampane. Continuing our tour we met the sow and her new piglets. The piglets are for sale if anyone is interested. We ended up back at the centralized kitchen area where our syrup was about complete. Mary poured the syrup into bowls and then filled our takeaway bottles. With all the smoke a syrup that supports colds, sinuses, seasonal allergies, and most importantly, WILDFIRE SMOKE EXPOSURE. On a side note: I used some syrup in my tea this morning after the smoke blew-in again late last night and I awoke at around 2 am with Smokey odors in my house and sinus headache with stuffy head. After 2 cups of tea and adding about an ounce of syrup to each cup, I felt remarkably better. I will keep in touch with GrowingNv and Jolene, as well as, stay in contact with Mary's website sierrarootswellness.com Definitely a five star event tonite.

Amazing to find a local farm right in the heart of Reno that specializes in planting 90 varieties of plants, herbs, flowers, vegetables- proving that northern Nevada can have a diverse ecosystem and support biodiversity. I love the educational element of the farm and how friendly all the employees are. I learned about all sorts of local herbs and their medicinal properties, how to identify different herbs and walked down the pollinator path! They even have little piglets that are so cute you can walk over to. Having this place as a community resource and the work they are doing to support the community is the best. Bring your kids too to learn about how to be a better steward for the planet. Hope they continue to have more education workshops- would love one specific to northern Nevada gardening. Overall an amazing community treasure- be sure to check out the farm stand Sunday's 3-7 for some Nevada local and grown produce!

Reno Food Systems ... an impressive labor of love that fills a big need in the Truckee Meadows. We're so lucky that we can support the farmers market and plant sales that are offered. The quality of seedlings is beyond anything else we've seen available. It's so much better to get products actually started in our climate, rather than buying starts that are doomed to fail because they are too soft for high desert growing conditions. Support this amazing farm!

My hat goes off to this company! I appreciate everything about their mission and stewarding the land to produce healthy food. Every Sunday from 3-7 they host a farmers market type of venue and although we haven't visited it is definitely on our to do list. Growing up on a farm in southern louisiana you appreciate little movements like this. I would love to support this company for future endeavors. I can't wait to see it continue to blossom & make Reno even more attractive

Reno Food systems has healthy plants and reasonable prices. They have great native perennials and cold weather and hot weather veggies.
