This is located in the heart of Chinatown right next to Uwajimaya. Both share the same lot so you can pull in at any open side. Make sure to bring your ticket with you because you get 2 hours of validated parking. They do not take reservations, you have to come to the door and put your name in a list. Sometimes weekends can be as long as 45-60 min wait. You do have to wait outside because they do reach capacity pretty quickly. Once you sit down to order and decide what you want make sure you decide whether you want white rice or glass noodles since it does come with it. Some of the hot pots do have noodles in them so if you want rice instead of lots of noodles you can ask the server ahead of time. During lunch hours an option if tea does come with your meal. Dinner does not come with that option. I can't eat a lot of the hot pots but I have tried the beef and the miso and the miso is my favorite. It's almost like a ramen dish but with udon noodles. The udon noodles are perfectly cooked and the right amount of chewiness. The only thing that I don't care for is the amount of cabbage that they put in the pot. It almost takes over the whole pot. Boiling Point serves individual themed hot pot made to your liking. There are 10 hot pots that you can chose from, each has their own unique flavor and items. You have the choice of selecting which spice level you want your soup ranging from no spice to extra hot. Once you get your hot pot, you can decide whether or not to keep the fire running. My personal preference is to keep the fire off because it's already served hot. Location/Parking: Next to the Uwajimaya in International district. Parking can be validated in the restaurant. Ambiance: Clean. Not that big of a restaurant so there is always a 30-45 minute wait during prime hour. Maybe longer depending on group sizes. Service: Everyone is pretty nice and efficient. The food comes out on a timely manner and the place is small enough to get someone's attention quickly. Food: I have to admit I wasn't a big fan when I first tried it but I gave it another chance to figure out which flavor fits my taste buds. My favorite and go to is the #10 (Thai Style). Boiling points hot pot comes with a variety of pre-made options, listed on the menu, and comes with a bowl of rice and a drink if you go at lunch, my personal favorite is the Korean kimchi one with pork belly. Given that the option are pre-made, you can't customize to replace what's in it, but you can do add on to it, though the price for adding things seems high for what they are. Also the is some side dish that are pretty good. I some time come in just to order a bubble tea to go as it's one of the better options in the area. I recommend their beef/lamb flavors because they give you a decent amount of meat and other sides like fish cake, corn and vegetables. Decided to try out this chain establishment since we were in the area and the restaurant was actually pretty empty! Walking in the spot was alot smaller than I imagined, nestled next to Uwaijimaya. Let me tell you why not! After being immediately seated it took at least 10 minutes for us to be approached by a server. While observing those seated after us being served, it could be they were familiar or regulars. The service did not get any better. I ordered the Korean Bean Paste Stew with Kimchi and a iced tea. I eat Kimchi stew all the time at home without any difficulties. It could be the combination of the continuous cooking of spicy food over the charcoal stove and way too sweet tea but, my stomach rumbled and roared the entire ride back to the house. BP really knows how to fill your cravings especially on a cold Seattle day. I feel bad for everyone that gives this place low stars because the two or three times I've come, I have had a decent amount of service and the food has been consistently flavorful to me. With that in mind, my 4 stars is for basically the Taiwanese hot spicy pot (I so far have consistently ordered that since there aren't really other spicy broth options). But if that wasn't good, I'd probably turn it down to a 3 star. I believe the longest I have had to wait for a table was 20-30 minutes for 3 people...and that is a typical wait that is great. I have heard of people waiting 40-80 minutes just for a table. You've got to be kidding me! I would never wait longer than 30 mins for a table. Anyways, I think Katy H's review highlights some great points that BP could work on. I agree that the menu is a little confusing and hard the first time you go there. I remember having so many questions but my friend's had been here before so they answered some of them for me. I do wish there were a few more options to the broth. They seem really different but nothing is really interchangeable which I don't like. Nonetheless, I really love the taiwanese spicy hot pot because the spice level is how I would prefer to eat the broth. I also enjoy the noodles that come with it, and love the meat choices of beef and intestines and a bunch of veggies and fish balls in it. Definitely the only one that's appealed to me. Their sauces really do make a great impact on the hotpot as well. I always use both and think they are kind of what makes their hotpot really tasty. Hate to be one of the lower raters for boiling point, but thought I should be honest for those reading into this place. After reading all the good reviews and hearing so much great stuff from friends, I thought it would be worth the extra long wait. First of all, by extra long wait, I did not expect to wait 1.5 hours on a Wednesday evening, with little-to-no room for all 50-some people waiting for a table (people were literally packed in like sardines in the tiny little waiting area, or spilling into the actual aisles in between tables where waiters are running around). After getting seated around 9pm, I was very disappointed when they said they were out of the vegetable pot, which is also the only one without seafood. I'm allergic to seafood and thought there'd be more non-seafood options but literally every other dish has seafood in it. And since they pre-mix/cook everything in the kitchen, they can't simply serve a dish with the seafood on the side. My husband was also unimpressed with the tofu and seafood pot. He said it was fine, but definitely not worth the wait for the price ($20). I was also excited about the milk tea but found the honey in my milk tea was overwhelming and unenjoyable. On the other hand, the staff at boiling point was very professional and unphased by the seemingly high-stress environment. Kudos to the serving team and staff. I only came to BP because a friend chose it, so disclaimer, I am not a huge fan of hot pot. Overall, it was okay, but the food and the experience could have been better. When we first came in, we stood around for a minute or two, and then were asked how many would be in our party. We told them 6. It's perfectly understandable that couldn't seat us yet because our whole party wasn't there. However, 3 servers came up to us independently and asked us how many would be in our party. It was really confusing and seemed quite disorganized. We finally did get seated, with only about 15 minute wait--so not bad. The menu is quite simple. You choose which soup you want, how spicy you want it, and which side (rice noodles or rice) you'd like. Everyone's food came pretty quickly. If you're not familiar with hotpot, there's a constant heat source on the soup, which causes it to get very hot and boil. Because of the temperature of my food, I struggled to eat it. I would have loved to have the flame put out, but unfortunately none of the servers came around, so I had to put up with my crazy hot soup the entire time. Also, to me, the broth was very bland and super salty. I was hoping for a bit more flavor and spice. All of the add-ins were good, though. Expect to pay a lot for the experience. A bowl of soup will cost you about $20 per person. In my opinion, there are many cheaper, better options in ID. Not worth waiting very long for, but worth a try if you catch them an an off-peak time! I happened to arrive just a few minutes before they opened on a Saturday morning and was met by a few other parties already waiting to get in also. We were seated quickly but the service was extremely spotty after that point as the place filled up. They don't make any substitutions to their bowls and yes, it was busy, but it was so hard to flag someone down when we wanted service. The servers also weren't helpful with their recommendations for noobs like me. We were also rushed through our meal as they were trying to get us out the door. The portions look huge, but the bowls are shallow. I mean, the portions are still huge (I got 3-4 meals out of mine with rice), but don't be too deceived if you're a big eater. With that said, the prices are fair for how much food you are getting. I appreciate that the bowls aren't just loaded with cheap ingredients (like noodles) but also carry a ton of meat/seafood/veggies. I also got a free tea with mine. I'm not sure if this happens all the time, but that was a pleasant surprise for me Also, maybe I'm eating hot pot wrong, but the soup is WAY TOO FREAKING HOT! Something horrible has happened & it's called "the flavour revolution" I think they tried to make the soup base healthier but unfortunately healthier is not always better. The soup tastes pretty bland now. The meat used to cook at your table but now when the soup is placed in front of you everything is pretty much done cooking (kinda defeats the purpose of lighting the pot unless you like scolding hot soup). A plus to the change is that drink sizes have increased (ex: a passionfruit green tea is twice the size as before but for the same price). They also give you wet wipes for after your meal but unless youre dipping your fingers in the soup i would just hoard them in my car. Coming from Vancouver where we have much better Asian food, I thought Boiling Point was alright but really overrated. It's true that the service is a bit spotty at times but it's not that difficult to flag someone down...they're there... it just takes a little effort. I was originally going to get the Taiwanese hot pot but they said it only comes in extra spicy, which I think is a little dumb because Taiwanese food is not even that spicy to being with and you're just alienating your customer base if you can only offer the meal as extra spicy. Shouldn't be that hard to make it mild or moderate since they do that with all their other dishes. So I got the beef hotspot instead and since it was lunch time, you could get a combo for with either (1) rice or vermicelli and (2) black tea or green tea - so that was at least good. I thought the food overall was fine - not good but not bad either. The point though is that it's really nothing special, but perhaps this is the standard for Chinese food in Seattle. The restaurant was quite full so I suppose this is one of the better establishments. So if you're in town and need a meal that's close to the cross border buses, this place is fine but I wouldn't expect too much - especially if your city has good Asian food. I been to many BP all over California, and honestly this is the best BP I been too. You can pick how spicy you like your hot pot broth. Taiwanese people doesn't really eat spicy. So Mild is bland, Medium is Mild, Spicy is Medium and FLAMING SPICY is just HOT. Service was on point. Every time when a waiter walks by our table they would ask if we needed anything or if we were okay. In California we had to wave our waiter down like we're trying to grab a taxi. One thing I didn't like was that they serve you water in these small cups, so I had to keeping asking them for a refill. On our second visit we just got back from Canada and it was raining like cats and dogs. Birthday girl wanted hot pot so we went back to BP, this time they had a line. We finally bit the bullet and tried last week. Luckily, we got there in time to be one of the last tables to be seated for the night. It's interesting because unlike traditional hot pot, your order comes with all of your meats and veggies already cooking in your broth. I ordered the #8 -- Taiwanese spicy hot soup -- that consisted of mushrooms, ramen, tofu, meat, and lots of other goodies. I'm always wary of ordering anything "spicy" at an Asian restaurant because they're rarely ever spicy. Well, don't worry because this dish was SUPER spicy. I took each delicious bite fully aware that I would develop an ulcer....and that was fine by me. The broth was incredibly flavorful and the soup insides were yummy. I was turning red and sweating but I continued to eat until I couldn't fit any more food in. And then after I couldn't eat any more....I ate some more because I really wanted to try the macaron ice cream sandwiches and snow cubes. The ice cream sandwich came out pretty hard so we had to let it thaw for a few minutes. But both the sandwich and snow cubes were the perfect way to settle the craziness that was going on my in mouth from the aftermath of the hot pot. Hesitant because I was afraid the quality would be just as poor as the Bellevue location became. After explaining to a hot pot virgin what Hot Pot was -- I suggested we go here! I opted for the Beef Hot Pot with a level three spice. The quality of my hot pot was just perfect. The food all very delicious and in good quantity! I also loved that they had the red chilli bean sauce and garlic soy sauce in huge abundance at each table! My friend got the spicy Taiwanese Hot Pot which only came in the highest spice. He kept his composure, but I can tell he was dying of the spice! We both ordered bobas which took a little longer to come out than I would of liked. But they were delicious and helped soothe the spice. I was a little disappointed in their selection of drinks compared to the Bellevue location. All in all -- I had a wonderful experience and keeping my fingers crossed that after a year they don't slip in quality as did the Bellevue location. read more
