After trying hot pot together for the first time last month, my boyfriend was super excited to take me to this hot pot place he found online and I was really excited to go with him. When we got in, I loved the clean and open space. There was no place to sit and wait, and the waitlist was digital, but we didn't end up having to wait for more than five minutes. The menu was super confusing to me, I don't know if maybe I just don't go for hot pot enough so I wasn't familiar with it enough to knew what was going on, but it took me a while to figure out how to order, I wish our server had asked us if we needed help. My boyfriend ordered the beef hot pot while i got the seafood and tofu. Mine tasted pretty good, I got it at medium spice and it wasn't very spicy for my pallet, but I enjoyed all the different foods that came in my dish. My boyfriend ordered his hot pot at hot spice and he loved the flavour, it was pretty spicy for me, but I enjoyed stealing some of his broth for my food. We both ordered boba to go with our food and I loved my milk tea. I ordered mine without tapioca and should have ordered it with more syrup because it definitely didn't taste as sweet as I wanted. I thought the personal hot pot concept was cool, but what I love about hot pot is that it's a communal experience which makes it a fun date. It was also weird that no one ever returned to our table to check on us. We used to go here pretty regularly during the winter to warm up, but stopped for a few years. We recently went back, and quality has really dropped. * They don't ask for sugar level for bubble tea (I always get zero sugar), and the boba is hard (stale, definitely not fresh). They also made it in ten seconds, which tells me the milk tea is pre-made. * Service is hard to flag down, even when the restaurant doesn't have a lot of customers. * They never refill the broth, unlike other hotpot places. * Their vermicelli comes in a plastic bag, which is unnecessary and damaging to the environment. They also give you a low portion. * The broth is okay - it has flavor but not as amazing or spicy as before (I always get the Taiwanese spicy). The pig blood curd was also overcooked. * The sauce containers at the table are barely filled and are lacking the punch it used to have. Somehow I have managed to not try Boiling Point in the many years they've been open in the ID, and now I wish I'd visited sooner! We came for dinner on a chilly night looking for some hot pot to warm us up. Really my only complaint about this place is that the service is a bit spotty. The restaurant was maybe 80% full, so it wasn't ridiculously busy, but it took a few minutes for someone to acknowledge and seat us. We then got no directions, eventually figured out that the menu was on a QR code, but no one came to take our order for a good long while, long enough that we had to flag someone down. There were employees milling around doing things but no one even looked our way enough for us to catch their attention for several minutes. Once we got our order in, though, service picked up. We got our fermented tofu started quickly. My house special hot pot came out a few minutes after that, although my dinner buddy's mushroom veggie hot pot came out another several minutes later. Then they lit the fuel under our pots and it was pretty quick to find someone to put out the fires later on in the meal. They were quick to clear finished plates and offer us water throughout. The hot pot itself was delicious! My medium spicy house special was frankly not spicy at all, but the broth was very flavorful and the contents were delicious, plentiful, and satisfying. I wish there was more pork intestine in there, as there were just a few thin slices, but there was plenty of sliced pork and blood tofu. The fermented tofu inside the hot pot is not that stinky, so if you want more of the funk you'd expect from stinky tofu, you should probably get the fermented tofu appetizer. Definitely get the vermicelli to cook in your broth near the end of the meal. While you may not end the meal as stuffed as you would at an AYCE place, I thought the portion was a perfect size and if you add the vermicelli, it's very filling. The sauces provided in the caddy on the table are not what I usually use for hot pot, but were still nice. Individual hot pot at Boiling Point is definitely a different type of hot pot experience from what you'd get at a typical hot pot place or an AYCE hot pot place, but I think it satisfies a particular type of craving. When you don't want to go to the effort of cooking all your hot pot items, and you don't want to share a pot or compromise on your order with anyone else, this is definitely the spot. read more

The hotpot was big enough that I was only bale to finish half and pack the rest to go for another meal. Our group of four arrived a little after 3PM, which is the end of the lunch special and the start of dinner. There wasn't a waitlist of people this time around since it's an in between meal time, in my opinion. We were seated right away. It took a little longer than normal for a staff member to come by and take our order. A group that was seated after us ordered their food before us, which we thought was odd. I typically order the Beef Hot Soup, but decided to switch things up and order the Rose Milky Hot Soup. This includes cabbage, udon, sliced pork, fish fillet, corn, seafood mushroom, firm tofu, broccoli, Chinese string bean, tempura, imitation crab stick, shrimp, milk, and dried rose. The beef inside of it seemed pretty poor quality and was difficult to separate (felt like it thrown in there as one frozen chunk). There wasn't much seafood in there for the price either. My husband's beef hot pot was better with a nice flavorful five spice broth and more tender beef. The hot pots stayed really hot the entire time we were eating. I'm not a huge soup person; however with that being said, the Hot Pot at Boiling Point in Uwajimaya Villiage is pretty tasty. They serve them in these cute little individual hot pot bowls where you can turn the temperature up or down to your liking, which is pretty cool in my opinion. I've never had a dining experience like it. I ordered the "Hot Green Hot Soup" which was the special at the time. It came with sliced beef omasum tripe, beef aorta (heart), and duck foot sitting in a green-peppercorn-infused broth. Now I want to say I'm naturally that adventurous of a foodie to place that order, but tbh I just looked at the menu and ordered it because it looked pretty and had no idea what I was eating until I checked the menu after I left. After we were seated, I looked around for a menu, but wasn't sure where it was located until I finally found the qr code - hanging out of view under the edge of the table. It would be better if staff could point this out for customers instead of having them search for it. The hot soup comes out boiling on its own little pot and stand with some fuel underneath, steaming hot and filled with ingredients. I'm pretty addicted to Boiling Point. You can say I'm addicted to hot pot in general but I think the other ones are yes better but too expensive. They recently started doing a deal where you get unlimited rice and double the meat per pot. I normally come for lunch by myself and it's convenient since the pots are meant to be individualized. During lunch it's cheaper and comes with a drink, and none of the food is reduced. My go-to is the Taiwanese Spicy which only comes in Flaming Hot. There can be a wait sometimes during prime lunch and dinner hours. They fortunately have an app where you can track how many people are on their waitlist if any. If there is a wait, I normally put my number down and go shopping at Uwajimaya or check out something in Chinatown. read more

Hot pot is my all time fav, one day my son and I decided to stop by the Chinatown location to eat because we were in the area. Usually we go to the one in Tukwila. And I can say the service and staff is not friendly at all to start off. No welcoming and it took them a while to come back to our table to take our order. Came here after a day of playing tour guide to my family. We came for dinner on a Thursday and were seated shortly after signing in to the iPad check in system. Our party of five placed our orders after flagging down a wait staff and they didn't even ask our tea preferences and we needed to show them the menu that states with Lunch and dinner you are provided a basic tea. Beef hot pots came for 4 of our party and were dropped off without them being heated with fire so not actual hot pots. I ordered a lamb and realized 15 mins go by and everyone is enjoying their meals and I don't have mine, we flagged down staff once again and they, all four were confused and unsure what I was even speaking about and had to have a dialogue with each other on my order. They rushed to make it and didn't even have it on fire once at the table. We had rice dropped off on accident that was then taken away to another table. - this is a health code violation btw. Once food item is on another table, you can't then remove and move it to a different table. That's not only a sanitation issues but safety. Spoke to the MOD when we left and he didn't apologize or seem to care that him and his team displayed such a horrible lack of customer service and professionalism.
