Super yummy and cozy spot in Tarrytown. We had reservations, otherwise it was clear from the line that the wait would've been substantial. The server was really a sweetheart and was quick to help our group of six find the right mix of tapas and cocktails. We ordered a ton of stuff, but I can only speak to the meat-free items. The tuna tartare special was delicious; the texture of the almonds was a pleasant and unexpected bit of crunch. The fried eggplant is a favorite of mine that I've had at other tapas restaurants. It was delicious, but could have been better if slightly less stiff, but that's the gamble you take with eggplant in a deep fryer. The fried artichokes were DELICIOUS. The sauce that was served alongside the artichokes was also divine. The cheese on the charcuterie board was all delicious, and paired nicely with the quince or whatever the jam was. The Spanish tortilla was not my favorite, but that's just because it's not my preferred way to enjoy eggs. The patatas bravas were yummy and flavorful. For drinks, I had tequila on the rocks and a very yummy espresso martini at the end of our meal. For six people with loads of good food and drinks, the bill was around $500 before tip, so that's pretty fair to me when split amongst three couples. I think we had like 11 dishes, and then drinks (beers, bottles of wine, cocktails, glasses of wine, coffee, and digestifs) so to me that's a fair price for a rare date night. read more

Stumbled upon Basque after spending the day around Tarrytown and so happy I did! My friend and I were soo hungry and ordered so many different tapas and we loved them all. I was very excited to try the Spanish tortilla and it's very rare to find one on a menu around here. It was so delicious and very authentic! We called almost a week ahead of time for a Mother's Day reservation for two. They stated they don't do reservations for 2 but at 1 o'clock when they open up, it will be easy to get a table. We walked in at 5 to 1:00 pm and were told there was no availability. They absolutely destroyed our Mother's Day. When I asked to speak to the manager, he couldn't care less. We unfortunately assumed that a restaurant that calls itself a Tapas Bar and features tapas on its menu would serve...well...tapas. And that we would be served a meal like we've enjoyed in Spain...or Manhattan for that matter. So we ordered accordingly. Not only did the dishes range in size from that of an American appetizer to entree, but there was no sense of pacing - plates kept piling up on our table long before we could finish those that had already arrived. Towards the end, our server had to return a dish to the kitchen because there was quite literally no room left on our table. And all but the first two dishes were cold by the time we could eat them. That said, the red sangria was truly excellent. As was the Salmorejo (a tomato soup special). And the Setas al Jerez (a variety of mushrooms sauteed in sherry) was quite good. But the Queso Cabra and fried artichokes were just OK and the Langoustines somewhat awful. I had a reasonable one and my wife had a mushy one (we didn't try the third), but the preparation - on the shell covered in a bland sauce - made eating them quite a challenge. So...if we return (and I expect we will do give them another shot), we'll order the tapas one or two at a time to pace the kitchen ourselves. Or order paella. read more

We went here for a dinner after a long day of meetings. The service was friendly and the food the delicious. The only downside was that it was quite loud (due to the number of people there - which is good!). We found ourselves nearly yelling to hear each other. Other than that, I have no complaints! Basque Tapas Bar has an intimate atmosphere. The food is excellent. My wife and I lived in Spain for five years, and we are very familiar with Spanish foods, in general, and with paella, in particular. This place has the best paella we have ever eaten. The order for four would easily feed 6-8 people. We get to the Tarrytown area about twice a year, and this is a place we will go to on a regular basis. You can't beat it, if you like Spanish food. I've actually been to both locations and prefer the ambiance at the Tarrytown location. The food was delicious and the service was great both times. I think I ordered the same food each time - Patatas Bravas, Gambas al Ajillo, and Alcachofas Fritas (Fried Artichokes). This time I also had the Special Sautéed Mushrooms in Sherry. Basque is a great place to go before a show at the Tarrytown Music Hall. On this occasion I took an Uber so I didn't have to worry about parking. My new favorite restaurant and an absolute must in Tarrytown! Heard a lot of buzz about this place and had a chance on a Saturday night to enjoy their authentically prepared Spanish tapas. Cool vibe and the service was warm, friendly and extremely helpful with the menu. The food -- in one word - spectacular! Fresh ingredients, packed with flavor and perfectly cooked! The highlights - shrimp in garlic sauce (amazing!), patatas bravas, chicken empanadas, manchego frita (wow!) and the skirt steak was incredibly tender and one of the best I have had! I had such a great dining experience at this restaurant from beginning to end. Nice ambiance, vibe, and location. The service was great and the $$ food was excellent! The waiter was friendly and attentive. We even had the pleasure of meeting some nice diners. This tapas bar provides a variety of meal & drink options to patrons. We really enjoyed the red sangria. It looks like their specialty is the paella. They offer two kinds, one with meat and another seafood, which was refreshing to see. I had the croquettes and seared Octopus; both were DELICIOUS. My cousin had the churrasco with hand cut fries and vegetables - so yummy. We shared a delicious dessert and were even given 2 glasses of champagne on the house, how kind. So good! My husband and I are Spanish food connoisseurs. We travel to Spain frequently and have tried most, if not all, the Spanish restaurants in NYC. This one is among the best, if not THE best we've had outside of Spain. The pan con tomate is spectacular, the filet mignon tips are divine, and the seafood paella is fire. Drinks are good. Staff is sweet. I'd give this a 4.5 stars if I could just due to the no reservation policy and the tight quarters, but I'll happily round it up to 5 since it otherwise fires on all cylinders. Similar to the Piermont location but maybe a tad more spacious, Basque delivers a cozy ambiance, excellent service, and absolutely delectable food. We sat at the bar where we received stellar service and attention from the bartender. There seemed to be a few birthday parties in back of the restaurant and, in turn, the volume level was louder there. However, the front of the restaurant was a little quieter and more intimate. We had the roja sangria, patatas bravas, filet tips, manchego frito, and marisco paella, then finished with churros and the white chocolate martini. Everything was so delicious that I couldn't pick a favorite, even if I wanted to. We were a tad over-ambitious when ordering as it was only two of us, but we wanted to try as much as we could! So they don't take reservations for parties under 6 people so they tell you to just walk in. So we took their advice and there was 4 of us. Initially we were told a 45 minute wait. We figured we'd have a drink at the bar the problem here is the bartender totally ignored us. Then we were told there were people getting up and that would be our table this is now 30 minutes after we arrived but we're good our table was being cleaned this about 7:20. Next we are told 6 people walked in who had a 6:30 reservation but they're already 40 minutes late. I always thought after being 15 minutes late you gave up your reservation. So they pushed us into a corner because there's no place to wait. So after waiting an hour and 15 minutes they found us a table. The croquetas were nice and soft in the inside and crispy on outside, the octopus was delicious, the mushrooms one of the best I've had, the shrimp were delicious and spicy meatballs were very good too. Best new restaurant to me in a few years. The tapas are cooked with the right amount of spices and vary from fish to meat to vegetables. The setting is tasteful. Expect a good wait for a table. They don't take reservations for groups smaller than six. It's worth the wait. I'm arranging our next visit with the hope the wait will be shorter. Found this place thanks to my fellow Yelpers and I was not misled. Went with my girl friend, who, like me, always wants to try a little bit of everything. We had bacon wrapped dates, steak, tips, and Burrata, all of which were outstanding! Cozy, setting with great service. In fact, we ordered a scallops dish that, when it arrived, wasn't anything like what we'd imagined based on the menu description. And unfortunately, it was covered in breadcrumbs, which I'm allergic to. But they were very kind about it, apologized for the disappointment, and took it off our bill. We went (a party of 5) and all of us noticed the staff was cold and unwelcoming, although there was only one other table occupied. We left a good tip anyway. We tried to go again last week with a different set of friends, and, arriving around 6 pm, the place was near empty. Once again, cold reaction from the staff. Friends wanted to first go to a shop next door for a few minutes, so I asked them to hold a corner table for us. They refused, and 5 minutes later they gave that table to another party..and, there were plenty of free tables! We won't be going back to this rather average place that has a huge attitude.
