Another great evening at Bistro 12. MAKE A RESERVATION!!!! I won't bore you with our excellent dinner choices because everything you've already read is completely true! But this time we actually saved room for dessert and ordered the chocolate mousse cake and limoncello pie. Both were PHENOMENAL! (And I don't usually rave about desserts because I could make most of them better at home.) These were worthy and made with love . The owners make you feel like you're spending a meal at their home in Portugal. They are gracious and generous. You never feel rushed. We ordered 2 glasses of dessert wine (there were 4 of us at the table.) Soon after the two glasses came, the owner smiled and dropped off the rest of the bottle (about half filled) and two more glasses Make sure to mention if you're celebrating something special. I won't spoil the surprise, but it'll make your special evening even more special!

There's a reason why after 8 years we returned... Bistro 12 is a true gem located in Tarrytown. The owner is extremely friendly (and check out his colorful artwork along the walls). The staff is friendly, the food is delicious. We found street parking easily and can't recommend this restaurant enough... go check it out!

Amazing! Small but excellent. We had risotto with filet mignon and the ravioli tartufata which was delicious. Great place to get dinner before a show across the street.

Seeing a concert and searched for a nearby dining spot. This showed up with great reviews and directly across the street from the Music Hall. In summary - what a gem! Great food and service. Cozy. Do try this - you will not be disappointed. Damages for 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, one dessert, 2 cocktails, 2 glasses of wine, and holiday tip were $200. A bargain. They served a leisurely meal in 1.25 hours allowing us enough time to walk across the street for the show. Fabulous restaurant located right across the street from the Terrytown music Hall. We didn't have a reservation but went quite early, so the restaurant was still empty. By the time we left, every table was occupied. I noticed people simply walking by to say hello to the owners/proprietors. Clearly, these folks are established in the neighborhood and certainly very well liked. The menu is eclectic and has Portuguese, Italian and French influenced options. My only reservation was that "rabbit" was on the menu. That's a hard "no" since I had a pet bunny and he was my soulmate. Just can't eat rabbit and often don't even go to restaurants that have bun bun on the menu. But, I hadn't examined the menu prior to going...and ultimately glad we chose Bistro 12. Great service, delicious food. I had an arugula salad and followed up with a delicious, light seafood-lemon based pasta dish. The mix of lobster, shrimp and scallops were chopped into small pieces and the lemon sauce perfectly complimented the thin pasta. The bread and butter alone-I could make a meal out of that! Crusty on the outside...hot and perfectly bready on the inside...I stopped myself after 2 pieces. It wasn't easy. Others at the table had beet salad, butternut squash soup, bolognese and seafood risotto. Rave reviews. Excellent quality food-I'm definitely going back.

I came here with my boyfriend and his parents. We made reservations in advance. We were seated right away by the window-the best seat in the house! They started by taking our drink order and then served us warm bread with butter. So delicious! I ordered the monkfish curry while the rest of the group ordered the chicken and chicken with artichoke. I would say no one person absolutely loved their meal but it was all quality and tasty. Our server was a sweetheart.

Service was decent and pleasant. Then came the food. Steak tartare, oysters and Beef Bourguinon. The only complaint the steak tartare, no t the best a lil bland. But otherwise everything else was tasty. Now the second visit as a completely different story. We observed a lobster salad, off menu and asked if we could have one. Well, it looked a lot better than what it was. It was totally bland and certainly not a pound and a half of lobster meat. It was truly disappointing. We ordered some oysters which were fresh and tasty but that lobster salad was definitely lacking. All in all the first visit hands down was truly a nice affair but our second visit was disappointing. I ordered an old fashioned that came to the table red, and when I questioned the look the waiter assured me it was an old fashioned. Upon tasting it, it had the correct ingredients, but so little bourbon that the color and balance of the drink was off. Then, for the entrees, we both ordered the filet mignon au poivre. The steak was fine, as were the vegetables, but not worth $44 by any stretch. On top of that, the "frites" were clearly frozen rather than freshly made. The waiter was nice, and we enjoyed the ambiance. But we were blown away by the gap in quality of the food and its cost. When you visit French restaurants you expect a certain tier of cuisine that Brasserie seems to be emulating on the surface but swinging and missing on in reality. Not worth the visit unfortunately. Try elsewhere and you'll undoubtedly be more satisfied.

Had an early Valentine's Day dinner with the wife the day before Valentine's Day. Brasserie Memere…read moreis an upscale French restaurant located in the Target plaza of Closter. The lighting is dim, the ambiance is intimate, and it looks romantic. I had made reservations so we were seated immediately. It's funny to note that the place settings were placed next to each other instead of across from each other at a four person table. We usually prefer to face each other, but when it's Valentine's day why not be cute? We ordered a few drinks during our dinner, the Sugar Plum Fairy, Memere 75, Avion en papier. My favorite was definitely the Avion en papier which had a slightly sweet, slightly bitter, citrusy taste. They had a pre fixe menu for Valentine's Day which unfortunately did not have the steak tartare i was interested in trying. But for $88, you get 3 courses: an appetizer, entree, and dessert. For our appetizers, we got the TARTARE DE THON (tuna tartare) and COCKTAIL DE CREVETTES GEANTES (shirmp cocktail). Between the two, i preferred the tuna tartare. The shrimp cocktail was good, but the only thing really special about it was the massive size of the shrimp and the freshly grated horseradish in the cocktail sauce. For our entrees, we got the CASSOULET DE CANARD and FILET MIGNON. The extremely tender duck leg confit was served with pancetta, white beans, toulouse sausage, and foie gras breadcrumb. It was rich, savory, fatty, and filling. All great words to describe food. The duck leg confit reminded me a little bit of a smoked turkey leg with the red coloring and shreddable texture. The filet mignon was served with pomme purée, wild mushrooms, and a bordelaise sauce. The filet was cooked medium rare as requested, but a bit under salted. The pomme purée aka mashed potatoes tasted like it was 50% butter so it was obviously delicious. Dessert was good, but my least favorite part of the meal. We got the TAHITIAN VANILLA CRÈME BRÛLÉE and the VALRHONA CHOCOLAT POT AU CRÈME. Both were very sweet. The brûlée crust did not shatter well, but it otherwise had a nice creamy texture. The chocolate pot was covered in flaky feuilletine which gave a nice contrast to the creamy chocolate, but my wife found the brandied cherries overpowering. The cherries made me think of German chocolate cake. Service was excellent. Staff was quick to refill water and checked on us constantly. Pace of the meal was relaxed and I'd even say they were slow to bring us the check since we had been dining for over 2 hours. My wife wants me to bring her back for their bottomless brunch on a Sunday so I will eventually be back.

Definitely comparable to some other expensive French places in the city and you are getting more for the price you are paying. We love the cozy and solid cooking style. The chicken liver and beef tartare were delicious, so were the endives. For the entrees, we liked them but the sauce in the steak wasn't really my style, that being said the steak was cooked very well so if you liked the flavor of the sauce, this would be the perfect dish for you. Overall loved the place and would definitely be coming again!!

It was my first time having escargot and I pity any other restaurant that may serve these to me moving forward. We were given extra bread just to make sure we could dip it in all of its garlicky, oily wonderfulness. The duck wings had a great Asian, sticky-wing type of flavor (another first for me) and the bone marrow just melted in your mouth. If you like the fatty part of the steak, say "yes" to the marrow. *chefs kiss* For entrees we had the chicken leg special, steak frite (you get a choice of cut) and the salmon. We were all just taking bites off of each other's plate all night. The gravy that came with the chicken special was perfect and paired amazingly with the crispy skin of the chicken. The steak; cooked PERFECTLY! (You see the pics!) & that salmon in the beurre blanc?! More perfection. Like the good children we are, we ate all our food and felt we deserved dessert. We ordered two apple tarts, which they outsource, and the crème brûlée. The apples were sweet and tender and I never have any bad words for crème brûlée . We also ended our evening with some cappuccinos and a healthy pour of amaro noninno; just devine. To top it all off, we noticed a DJ setting up towards the end of dinner service. The centerpiece of this restaurant in my opinion is the beautiful horse shoe shaped bar in the middle of the restaurant. I typically enjoy a nice clean and clear bar so you can fall into the feeling of the restaurant and see what is happening all around. This bar had bottles of wines lining the bar, in my opinion I would remove the bottles and allow for a more open feel. Personally I felt that the bottles created a barrier between me and the bar tender. The outside tables are tables typically for 2 or 4 people with banquet seating and then chairs. Oh, my God How's this boy treating you? Very good wonderful started The service was attentive but not over bearing which created a relaxed feeling.. They had a nice selection of wines and I stepped out of ny own comfort zone of a cab and tried the house Pinot Noir accompanied by the B6 board. Overall I was satisfied with the meat and cheese selection and baguette that was served with it had a nice oil on it. Presentation was well done with one exception in my mind, the breads ticks came in a package. Presentation factor went down with that. Take one of the small wife carafe used to serve the wine and present it in that. Overall I felt something was missing but could not put my finger on it.
