I came here with a group for dinner on a week night. The place itself was rather quaint and had a certain rustic charm. The service was fairly attentive. The food was good and satisfying. I tried the calamari, the Caesar salad, the meatball and the veal. They were all pretty tasty. I would say I liked the veal the most. I really love this place. We went for restaurant week. Offerings were great, food was just delicious as usual. We started off with Caesar salad, which was cold, crispy and perfect. For entrees, I got the chicken Parm with pasta, and my friend got the flat iron steak with the mashed potatoes and broccoli Raab. Chicken Parm was delish. Nice chicken cutlet with crispy edges and a sweet marinara sauce. Flat iron steak was cooked perfectly medium rare with a sweet and savory sauce marinade. Absolutely love the bombolini donut, dessert, and the Panna cotta. Our waitress was excellent, very friendly and nice, and the place is decorated amazingly for Halloween. I finally had the benefit of coming here not pregnant meaning a. I'm not turned off by most foods and b. I can have a glass of wine (or two ;) and what a great experience! The ambience is so special, you really feel miles away when you walk inside, and the staff is always welcoming and kind. Come with an appetite and with friends, or a loved one, so you can try as many things as possible. The specials are not to be missed, it's like a full secret menu on the side. Everything is seasonal and fresh so the menu does change with some exceptions that are always there. This might be my new favorite spot ! read more

I had a Galentine's Day outing with my best friend here and for how many times I pass this place on a daily basis, I've never really noticed it. I am glad she suggested it! They had a $37 "Pasta Feste" special where you get your choice of pasta dish and salad and a glass of wine (which was a Shirley Temple instead for me since I don't drink) which was good because the original price on the menu for the fennel salad I got was $18 which is a bit absurd. So instead of paying upwards of $50 for a salad, pasta and drink, I paid $37, however we did end up sharing an appetizer and dessert so I still ended up paying well over $60 for just myself. The meatballs were good, very soft. I loved the salad and was glad the fennel was not overpowering, it was sweet and savory at the same time and I loved the addition of the pear. I loved the buttery sage sauce and breadcrumbs that topped my ravioli. The ravioli were wonderfully creamy but the butternut squash flavor was a bit mild, I wish there was a bit more balance within the filling. My friend loved her carbonara. We also shared the lava cake and although it didn't really have that lava-melting-out effect once it was cut into, it was very tasty and I loved the cherry syrup on top. Overall a very good experience. We were sitting there chatting for a while after we finished eating and never once felt rushed to leave. My only real complaint is that I don't think the prices are fair, but if money is no issue, I definitely recommend. read more

Mima used to be my favorite restaurant in the river-towns. It has gone downhill, unfortunately. The last few times we have gone, the food is not nearly as flavorful as it once was. Pasta was not al dente, salmon was overcooked, chocolate torte did not taste like chocolate and was a bit rubberlike - honestly, none of what we ordered was up to par. The waiter was not particularly friendly or attentive. And mostly, the music was really unpleasant. New age, too loud, and a constant bass and drum beat that was distracting and just wrong for the place (quaint? intimate? no). People at the next table agreed and it seemed the bartender was the only person bopping around and enjoying it. We will give it one more try, in the hopes that it will return to what it was like years ago... read more

Came in the other night after a very long time since our last meal. And our meals were just as excellent as we expected. The salads along with the pasta specials were superb! The tiramisu was divine (and I'm not much of a tiramisu fan). However, we felt the restaurant fell a bit flat regarding staff attentiveness. We waited an excessively long time after we finished our pasta before the waiter came back to the table. Except once immediately after bringing our pasta dishes, he never checked in to see how we were doing. He spent a long time very attentively doing things behind the bar. At the end of our meal when we asked for the bill, it took a long while before he realized he had totally forgotten about it, when he walked past our table after strolling to the front of the restaurant first. Excellent experience at Mima Vinoteca! Dined on a beautiful fall night just before Halloween. The restaurant was subtly festive with some Halloween decor. The ambiance was perfect--bustling but not too loud on a Thursday night (OK fine, maybe a bit on the louder side at the very end of the night but nothing crazy), warm, a perfect balance between rustic and modern. Our server was Felix and he was friendly, helpful and quick. We enjoyed a delicious burratta (sp?) app and arugula salad. They custom made my wife a vegetarian pasta pomodoro dish and I had the short rib. Both great. Ended the night with their molten chocolate cake. And of course, a nice bottle of Amarone. Was passing through town on the way home, had been told the food was solid, so figured I would give it a try with a take-home order. This is a small, but cozy, and shows clear evidence of being a family run restaurant. The menu is short, but offers some vegetarian friendly and "healthy" choices. As this was a take-home order, I cannot comment on service or more extensively on the food or wine list. What I can say is I had the whole wheat tagliatelle with wild boar ragu - it was absolutely divine - fresh pasta, not too salty, almost no evidence of tomato in the sauce, a more rustic version of this dish. I ate the whole thing and wiped up every last drop with some fresh peasant bread slices that came home with the food. Looking forward to a dinner in-house. read more

Came here last night for anniversary dinner! They weren't too busy on a Monday night, so when we were running late, they were very accommodating. We ordered a crostini to start which was very good. Then we ordered 2 pastas, the cavatelli and the pumpkin ravioli. The cavatelli is just like a typical carbonara- delicious, standard, not too crazy or special. The pumpkin ravioli was by far my favorite dish of this meal though. The ravioli and filling were delicious, but the sauce and walnut and bacon toppings really made the dish. I felt like there were great combinations of textures and sweet/salty flavors going on. Only thing I would change would be to make the sauce a tad bit less sweet. Had to eat the carbonara in between because the ravioli was slightly too sweet. The hangar steak with garlic whipped potatoes and mushroom sauce was also great. Definitely enjoyed the rich creaminess of the potatoes with the steak. For dessert, we ordered the whites chocolate walnut bread pudding. It was really good, just wish it had ice cream/something cold to counterbalance the flavors. Overall, I had a great experience at this place. The food did not disappoint, but I would make some slight changes. Also, when making the reservation, I indicated this was an anniversary, but not sure why the dessert didn't have a candle or anything special? Visited for an early Saturday evening dinner with friends before a show. Entering we were greeted with smiles from the staff and seated in the cozy grandma style rear dining room. Tables are tight - uncomfortably manageable. Starters included a shared salad which was boringly standard and forgetful. Two orders of the "Crispy Brussel Sprouts" arrived with our main courses. With bacon and roasted cashews this was a tasty side dish that was enjoyed. The "Polpette" or Mina's meatballs were a heavy disappointment resulting in later discomfort during the show. The Veal Scallopini (expensive at $31) was another choice that fell short of expectations lacking in flavor. Two orders of the Branzino over various vegetables was a fine selection leaving one satisfied. Throughout our dinner the staff while polite at all times became somewhat intrusive. Multiple visits from different servers asking the same questions. Our dinner conversations interrupted many times. What's with the music here? This restaurant is exquisite. The food, decor and service are all absolutely wonderful. My wife and I ate here last night. Every dish was over the top delicious. We were seated in a cozy nook at front and there happened to be a speaker above our head. Some sort of dance music was playing and it was extremely loud at our table. The waitress was super-accommodating and had the music lowered for us. However then someone turned it up again. She turned it down and they turned it up once more. Finally, on the 3rd try, it remained low. This is a classic New York-style architecture with beautiful tin ceilings, and it's modernized with a design that is in the best of taste. The decor screams "Jazz Age" and the music was very out of place for a middle-aged/old clientele. Classical, soft piano, jazz would all be wonderful. Loud dance music does not fit in. It won't stop for from coming back, but it was annoying enough for me to give a 3-star rating instead of the 5 that it would deserve if this is corrected. read more

This was probably one of the top 10 worst restaurant experiences I have ever had. The noise level is very loud, but added to that was a table of six next to us that were literally shouting at each other in conversation. My party could not even have a conversation because we could not hear each other, and it made the entire meal very stressful and the food unenjoyable. I did speak to the hostess and asked her to have the manager please talk to the table and ask them to tone it down a little bit. She said she would but no one ever did come, nor did the manager bother to come to our table and talk to us. Even the waiter commented how he couldn't even talk with us because they were so loud. Spending close to $300 on a meal we could not enjoy with a management who clearly does not care about their your dining experience is not something I care to ever repeat. read more

In my effort to support local businesses I saw they had a groupon offer that was not restricted to dine-in only, since all restaurants are only open for take-out. I called the restaurant before I purchased the groupon who confirmed it was good for take out. Then when I went to use it today the owner said it would only be good 3 months from now, when they hope to open for dine-in. He refused to honor both what the groupon says and what he told me over the phone. Now who would want to do business with a place that lies to it's customers to induce them to buy their groupon and not honor the terms? There are many other trustworthy local businesses who are worth our support. read more
