I'm not big on Greek food so I don't come here often even though my office is right next store but we had a work meeting here and it reminded me of the things I do like. The pita is so good, the smash fries are absolutely BOMB and the soup I got was also really good! I had a creamy broccoli soup which was great for dipping the pita into.

Everything was amazing from service to seating, food was incredible. I didn't photograph each dish but I got a quick snap of the lamb sausage appetizer. We chose the version that is split. We both had the chicken souvlaki. Don't miss this place!

MP Taverna is celebrity Chef Michael Psilakis' baby. We used to enjoy going to his restaurant in Astoria, but that closed a few years ago and I've been wanting to go to the Irvington one for a long time. Finally getting a chance, I invited our cousins to meet there for an early dinner. It is located by the Hudson River and conveniently next to the Irvington Metro-North station with a large parking lot shared by the other neighboring restaurants. Get the Grilled Octopus! While it is pricey at $30 for an appetizer, you get a lot of tasty tentacles on a bed of Greek yogurt. The smoky charred pieces are tender and flavorful. We also had the Roasted Organic Beet Salad and the sweetness went well with the octopus. At MP Taverna Astoria, the best dish there was the roast chicken and the Irvington Roasted Lemon Amish version is just as good. The Mixed Grill is a BIG portion with a grilled chicken breast, 2 each pork tenderloin and Cypriot & Greek sausage. Add to that, some smashed fries and grilled onions & zucchini and I had to take half of it home. The wives both got seared sea scallops with lemon potatoes & sautéed spinach as sides. The meal was finished off with a plate of mini cannoli on the house and some strong coffee. Overall a great dining experience and hope it won't take years for us to come back because I want to try the Greek Seafood Paella or the Grilled Branzino next!

Came randomly on a Sunday for late lunch. The restaurant is located in a large area by the Hudson with a huge parking lot. Not river view though. It was fairly empty when we went in so did not need a reservation. Our waiter was nice and the ambiance was nice. Apparently most of the main dining tables were reserved so we sat in the section for non-reversations, which was fine. The food was pretty good. We got octopus, gyro, full branzino, and tomato yogurt dip. Everything tasted healthy and delicious, just as you would expect from Greek/Mediterranean place. Overall we were pretty satisfied. The price was on the higher side, but expected bc the dishes were decent size. Definitely worth the visit.

Went to lunch here for a birthday celebration based on hearing such good things about the food. While it was quiet for a Saturday afternoon, we enjoyed ourselves. The bar and dining rooms are attractive and comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful but our server tended to disappear for long periods of time and we had to ask the hostess for our check. No big deal but worth noting. The ribs were amazing. Crispy yet fall off the bone succulent. The scallops were also rich and luscious. They brought a cute plate of cannolis with a candle which was appreciated. I would recommend this place but for dinner as lunch seemed too quiet and a bit off service wise.

Freaking love this place!! We've now been 3-4 times and have had a fantastic experience each time. On our first visit, it was warm, so we sat outside. But the other times we have sat at the bar, which we prefer. The bar staff are super fun, and they really add spirit to the experience! As for food, I recommend the following: APPS - Ribs (omg) - Calamari - Meatballs - Any of their meze dips MAINS - Bronzino (wow) - Ricotta Cavatelli - Lamb Burger Honestly, I could go on and on. Now that we have visited so many times, we've tried a number of things--all awesome!! In fact, I can't wait to return and try more things!! If you are near Irvington, you must try this place!!

Finally made it here to have an early dinner. Been meaning to come here for a while.great location on the water . Place is beautiful inside with a really cool bar area too. Started with crispy calamari with cauliflower. Think the oil was t hot enough kinda was clumped together . Very crispy with tasty sauces on side . Table shared Ricotta cavatelli cacio E Pepe with ground short rib bolognese cheesy peppercorn sauce. Omg this was amazing. We loved the heavy pepper and cheese sauce was awesome. I ordered Greek Paella dish I loved it. Lamb sausage ,mussels, clams, shrimp with orzo. Orzo was so soft and tender . All the fish was tender and amazing My son ordered pork assobuco it was super tender off the bone with creamy orzo Wife ordered chicken souvlaki. Flavors with very good. Chicken could been cut up smaller kinds clunky to eat. Smashed fries were so crispy outside and nice and tender inside. We were there at a weird time so service was kinda slow. But we did have a chance to be served by the famous chef and owner Michael Psilakis. He was really cool and even took a picture with me We all loved our dinner and experience we will definitely be back. I have to say the chairs were super comfortable which is very rare these days. Really cool chic vibe , parking lot outside. Little pricy but not bad for the portions and quality of the ingredients. Unfortunately they don't do desserts since Covid but they did come out with complementary great cannolis , they were very crispy outside and creamy inside.

Came here for a small birthday lunch. Service was superb with great recommendations. Interior is friendly and welcoming - loved the high ceilings. And of course the food -food was excellent. Foie Gras was creamy and generous. Octopus dish was phenomenal - very refreshing with a nice bed of tzatziki and chickpeas and generous serving of octopus. Scallops were outstanding - generous portion of soft slightly seared scallops on fresh spinach puree. I had sardines dish - which I enjoyed but is not for everyone due to explosion of favor (think olives, feta, capers, garlic) And we also got lobster risotto which was good and could have fed 3 people easily. Drinks were quite enjoyable as well. Price on a high-end side, but we did order some of the most expensive dishes on the menu. Overall I would highly recommend MP Tavern (especially after touring local mansions and museums - bring a good appetite)

I never would have imagined going to a Greek Restaurant and getting the best pasta around! MP Taverna truly blew me away from start to finish. Our waiter Nick went above and beyond to ensure my girlfriend and I had the best experience possible. He recommended our meals personally and did not disappoint. We started with calamari which came with a tzatziki sauce along with a red sauce that was delicious. For our main course we both had pasta in a vodka sauce with shrimp and pork belly. Truly one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had and the portions were huge! What I loved also about MP taverna is it is right on the Hudson River and has a breathtaking view of the bridge at night when you exit the restaurant. We will absolutely be coming back to MP Taverna and exploring more delicious items on the menu.

Service was spotty, seldom saw our waiter. Did not come once to ask how we were doing. Boo hiss. The ambiance was somewhat noisy but mostly from chatty Cathy diners than the music and crooning. Lighting was excellent and seats well cushioned and comfortable. The food was meh. The hanger steak was stringy and rubbery and devoid of flavor but was served warm and with an awesome side of smashed fries. The portion was ok. The salad was good, very good, albeit not take your breathe away great. The mixed grill should have been dubbed missed grill. The various sausages were less bold in flavor than I was hoping for and somewhat disintegrated upon cutting. All meals were served on a grill plate. A nice touch. The calamari and cauliflower was good but was 85% calamari and barely any cauliflower. It was crispy and the red sauce was great.

Went after for drinks the bartender Liz was the best ambience was great. Can't wait to come for food. Been there pre-Covid and I loved it. Great Parking great atmosphere great staff thank you. We needed that after the night we had.

The ingredients were fresh and that dressing was lovely. It was a salad I actually enjoyed instead of regretting the entire time I glared at my coworkers who ordered real shit with envy. The hummus was also very creamy, authentic hummus with a slightly different taste than I am used to but head and shoulders above any store bought bullshit. Everyone else said good shit about their food. I tried one of GF's falafel from her platter and it was really good. My only complaint is for $24 or whatever it is, i would expect more than a few falafel balls and one side. Kinda a rip off. But everything tasted really, really good.

Like a lot of these spots, the tables are very close to each other so don't expect privacy especially if you're just two people. They have a decent menu with pita sandwiches, salads, appetizers, souvlaki platters, seafood and a kids menu, as well as specials. We enjoyed the falafel pita ($12.75, not dry and soft pita, hummus sauce but no tzaziki) and the shrimp platter ($25, on a bed of pita bread, fries [similar to diner fries] and a small side of pilaf rice for $4.5). It would have been nice if both entrees came with a side salad (or something) to complete the meal. I had my eye on the moussaka but there was no vegetarian version and they didn't have a spanakopita platter either. Also no complimentary pita, tapenade or chips, unlike some other Greek places. Since they seem to be pretty busy, service is fine and tries to keep it moving. Some people entered and had to wait for a table but staff didn't seem to rush anyone who was languishing a bit out. There was a steady stream of customers and takeout orders which likely speaks to a consistent experience. Their to-go bags were actually blue reusable bags, which I thought was a nice touch. Bring cash because credit card orders tack on almost 4% to the bill. The location isn't the best atmosphere wise (shopping plaza near Shop Rite and next to a Jersey Mike's) - small but not intimate - but on the plus side, parking is easy. If you miss the turn and go into Shop Rite, you can still get to the restaurant without going back on the main street.
