They have a great menu and there were so many things we wanted to try. We've been coming here for many years before we even had our adult kids. Everything is outstanding! The portions are huge and everything is fresh. My go to orders are the soups the split pee I would say is the best, the mushroom coming in at two but I think the mushrooms taste canned, still good, and the lentil is delicious all very filling. I almost forgot the chicken is great as well with a zest of lemon. The chicken gyro is my favorite it doesn't have that weird chicken gyro meat, fantastic especially with feta in it. The chicken Greek salad large can easily serve at least four people. The service is friendly and it's nice seeing familiar faces year after year. I visited this spot for a lunch date and really liked the location. It wasn't too crowded, and the staff was very attentive throughout our visit. I ordered the grilled chicken with a side of rice and it came with white sauce. The flavor was great, though the chicken was a bit on the dry side for my taste. It had been a few years since my last visit, but during a recent trip to New York City, we took the train in from Tarrytown--and I made a point to stop by one of my old college favorites: Lefteris Gyro. The restaurant still has the same charm I remembered, but with some welcome updates. The expanded dining room now includes space from the neighboring restaurant, and the refreshed décor is warm and inviting. The layout is much more comfortable than it used to be, with both indoor and outdoor seating, a full bar, and a separate takeout area that keeps things moving smoothly. We had a short wait for a table (about 5-10 minutes), but once seated, our server quickly brought water and took our drink orders. The service was prompt and the pacing of the meal felt just right. My partner ordered the lamb gyro, which came with a side of pita, and I had the moussaka, which included a small Greek salad and pita as well. The salad--though labeled "small"--was impressively large and could easily serve several people. It tasted exactly how I remembered it, with that perfect dressing and plenty of pita to soak up whatever was left on the plate. The moussaka was excellent: a generous portion, well-seasoned, and perfectly layered with béchamel, ground beef and lamb, and potatoes. I ended the meal with a sweetened Greek coffee, which was a great way to wrap things up and gave me a nice little energy boost for the rest of the day. Great service, but the food was disappointing. Would not recommend the Chicken Platter and Chicken Breast Traditional Platter. The Chicken Platter was not like how it was pictured on the menu. It was like sliced ham / processed chicken meatball slices. We expected it to be a bigger version of the Chicken Skewer plate. The Chicken Breast Traditional platter was way too salty. The salad that came with each platter was basic (olives, feta cheese, cucumbers, tomatoes, and one dolma). The french fries were average. The tzatziki sauce was not bad though. We might've just ordered the wrong thing. As always, just a wonderful place to sit a Greek meal, they have a full bar which you could sit at in a happy hour plenty of space you don't really need to make a reservation unless it's a weekend great quality food. This is their third restaurant and one can see why the Greek salad is delicious. The soups are amazing tonight. I had the Bronzino special. It was delicious with the lemon potatoes. I took salad dressing home so I could have a little bit of their restaurant and yet again the staff was attentive and just eager to please. We had fried zucchini chips as an appetizer with their Greek potato that has garlic in it. My other hat had a Sol special on the menu as well and he enjoyed it. I stopped in for lunch today 6/28/25. One of the servers seated me outside with water then disappeared for 10+ minutes. She came back and I ordered the chicken platter with Greek rice, which comes with a Greek salad. The Greek salad came out with a stack of pita bread. The salad was OK, maybe 6.8/10. The pita had no tzatziki so it sat there getting cold until the main came out. About 10 minutes after finishing the salad the main came out. No attention to plating, just a big Trough of terrible food. The rice was bland. The tzatziki was pretty much just a cup of plain Greek Yogurt, incredibly bland. The Chicken was also bland, lacked color, and appeared to be slightly undercooked. I had a few bites and confirmed that one of the chicken skewers was slightly pink on the inside. I waited about 10 minutes without eating before I flagged down a bus boy to grab a server (they weren't busy). I asked for the check. She asked if I wanted a box, since I had like 4 bites, I told her that I did not and was really not happy with the quality. She asked if I wanted something else, I told her no thank you. Paid $28 ish for an inedible mess. I wound up going down the street and getting lunch at a sushi spot that was infinitely better. This was my first time having authentic Greek food and I was introduced to many new and delicious flavors! I've heard of gyros before but never had one until now and I feel like I've been missing out! My partner said this place was amazing and he was right! I especially enjoyed their eggplant dip and I loved how light and refreshing it tasted. I kept reaching for more of it. For me, the stuffed grape leaves were not as impressive but I think it's mainly because it was such a new and unfamiliar flavor to me. It had a mintiness that I wasn't expecting but the leaves themselves were quite lovely. I wanted to try their Saganaki cheese balls but since they didn't have any that day, I opted for the regular one. This one was a show! They do the flambé right in front of you and it's nice and hot. Can't go wrong with cheese honestly. Now comes the gyro - this place does not skimp on portions. For about $9 maybe, we had this huge thing of lamb gyro that doesn't even fit in your mouth. Not to mention it was delicious. The flavors were all nicely balanced and I had to pack it to go since there was so much. Finally came the dessert which I believe I got the bougasta. I liked the flakiness of the crust and its layers. It wasn't too sweet which I appreciated and the perfect way to end my meal. I look forward to coming back and trying more Greek food! read more

My office gets catering from here constantly. I am not the biggest fan of Greek food in general so this can be taken with a grain of salt but I find the chicken on a stick a little dry, although flavorful. I love tzatziki and this one is okay, I love cucumbers and I think this one needs a bit more of that freshness to balance out the acidity. I love the pita though, and the broccoli is flavorful. I wish the potatoes were a little more crispy on the outside. That's just my picky 2 cents though! read more

The worst Greek food I have ever eaten. Have been here once before and it was very below average it has gotten even worse. To start I asked if the lentil soup marked vegetarian was also vegan - he said no there is chicken stock - well then it should not be labeled vegetarian. The foursome of dips is now $26. I substituted the eggplant dip for the taramasalata and they charged me $2 extra! On the menu the eggplant dip is $1 LESS than the taramasalata so why am I being charged extra to substitute a vegetarian option? The platter of FOUR dips came with exactly 8 small wedges of pita bread (there were 3 of us). The dips themselves were horrible. The hummus was watery and bland. The skordalia was watery and bland- zero garlic flavor! The eggplant was also watery and bland. The tzatziki was passable as per my daughters I didn't eat it. The dolmades were disgusting. I have never had a dolmades before that was sweet but somehow the vinegar mixture with the rice seemed to have sugar in it which is crazy. Absolutely a disgusting meal. Went with my parents and wife after a day of sightseeing in Westchester and it was a great meal. Liked the ambiance inside and the service was really friendly and efficient. As to the food -- the Greek salad with gyro meat was plentiful and very tasty. It's a huge portion. The skordalia was very garlicky which I loved but the rest of the table found overwhelming. The spinach pie was flaky and delicious (and even the small one was pretty big -- a large one could make a meal). The gyros were big and tasty and held together for the most part. We went to this gyro place for Gyros. We order a14.95 gyro that comes with 5 french fries inside "'like the waitress explained. " We asked about the sauce why was the tiki sauce 1.50 for extra sauce if the sandwich includes the sauce. The waitress explained that since people want more sauce they have to pay for it. We said well does it have plenty sauce because that makes the gyro. If not we order something else. I'll let them know you want more sauce. Came with a sandwich that we couldn't see the sauce. So we need to spend 3.00 more for a sauce that's part of the ingredients of the sandwich. When they saw we were leaving and we're not paying since the sandwich looked dried. They offered to put an extra spoon on top of the sandwich. That's what should have been done originally.The sauce is part of the ingredients to make a good gyro. The fact that they refuse to give extra sauce at first was a no-no for the business. The name of the restaurant Lefteris GYRO. We asked to speak to the manager and he agreed with the waitress. Great job managing. I worked for high end restaurant and being a rude waitress is a no no. No tip is required for a dried sandwich from a rude waitress. First and last time. The manager tried to convince us that this sandwich had extra sauce already. Where's the Sauce? This is the sandwich when we first got it and she said she told them to add extra. They have a large cart that sits so close to the door you barely have space to walk in or stand. And then if someone walks in after you they're basically on your back. While we were in Thornwood, we traveled to Tarrytown because the ambiance is so much nicer. Service was not very friendly or welcoming. Service was quick, though our party of six weren't in any hurry. I shared a Mixed Grill for two with my friend. We both found it tasty but very dry. Two ordered the Stuffed Pepper & Tomato and each thoroughly enjoyed it, along with the accompanying Greek Salad. The Greek Lemon Soup was as delicious as ever, as were the Gyro Sandwiches.
