Cacik - cousin of Greek tzaziki or Indian raita
    Roman K.

Recommended by a group of people on the street as both groups exited from our respective eateries - us, Docas (Portuguese) them Melike (Turkish), next to each other. They, highly recommend Melike and the mussels with feta & we, highly recommended Docas and the garlic shrimp...few days later, spouse and I went to Melike, very pleasant, clean place Ok, we order the mussels with feta as recommended by the Melike group - sold out. Next, we ordered - Falafel, Sigara Borek (cigar shaped phyllo stuffed with feta & parsley), Cacik (similar to Greek tzatziki), Zucchini Pancakes and Grilled Octopus, all appetizers. All in all everything was good - falafel, crispy on the outside, moist and soft on the inside but the most outstanding dish was the octopus. Don't know what he did to the octopus - beat to death, cuddle it for 24 hrs...it was melt, melt in your mouth soft. The following week I went back, just for the mussels. Spouse went to the sister location in Mt Kisco, NY with friend. We both ordered the Mussels. The Mussels are huge, Jurassic Park size. They are NOT New Zealand green mussels, which I do not like. As I found out, they're from Chile, flown in every few days. We compared notes and both sides agreed they were good BUT bit too much for the mouth. Good place for vegetarian and pescatarians, have a go and enjoy

I don't eat here nearly often enough, but every time I go, it's soooo good. Service is prompt and friendly and the food itself is delicious. The food is alarmingly just so pretty to look at. I've visited for dinner with out of town friends, appetizer lunch with my kid, and even by myself. The tables outside are great - and they don't forget you out there! All around a great local spot. I love Melike!

Very good food, and great outdoor seating. Sautéed lamb entree was spectacular, and my girlfriend's chicken kabab was delicious as well. They did not however have Turkish tea... how is that possible? It's a great place regardless, but I need my Turkish tea!

Found this incredible hidden gem this evening in the Croton Point area of Ossining. The food was absolutely incredible. We had the Lebni with the freshest Pita I've had outside of the Middle East. Accompanied by a fresh chickpea salad with the perfect balance of flavor. Then came the chicken kebab which was perfectly grilled tender white meat served with a delicately buttered rice and salad. It was a lot of food so we had to take dessert to go because I had to try the baklava and the kunefe! The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated with a warmth of a home and music that you couldn't help but move to. Staff was friendly and courteous, we will be coming back for sure!! If you haven't been here you are missing out as this is some of the best food I've had in NY and I've lived in NY since 2005!!

Outstanding food - I thought the Turkish Cuisine in White Plains was excellent yet this is a step above. Friendly courteous service and all dishes were fresh and delicious. Mixed clod appetizers was a good beginning and I added Dolma and Falafel... then had the Moussaka - just superb. The bechamel sauce was rich and creamy and a decent portion served with rice. Finished the dinner with Turkish coffee and Baklava

Our first visit and definitely not our last. The owner Erbu could not have been more welcoming and patient with our discombobulated group of six. Would give it 4.5 if one could (hint hint Yelp). Location is mid Main St, directly across from the Post Office. Street parking is "grab it" or hike up or down the hill. Might be a challenge on weekends. Bathrooms were newly renovated, accessible and clean. My minor digression from five stars is definitely nitpicking, but I will get to that later. The space is open; one large dining room - but warm and inviting with a large set of windows facing Main Street. Wine, beer and cocktails all available, as are a handful of Turkish red and white wines which we were allowed to sample in small, glasses each marked with a key letter. This led to a unanimous Turkish red wine selection - Kocabag - that was so yummy it went to bottle #2. Our non-winer friend enjoyed two Efes Turkish beers. The menu is deep with classic ethnic dishes and can equally delight vegetarians and meataholics . We were served water, warm pita and a plate of humus with olive oil and chickpeas - a delish starter. While we worked on entree selection we shared a platter of cold appetizers - I really loved the grape leaves and everyone else teed up on the eggplant and other samples. We also ordered a zucchini fritter plate which was ok. I absolutely loved my grilled lamb with onions, peppers and onions, and dipped gently into my side of super hot hot sauce. Could eat that five out of every seven days. We were so full, dessert was not possible! So my nitpicks. 1) The wine we loved is $11.99 at retail and $55 on the list. This is an over-the-top markup. Will definitely bring my own and pay the $15 corkage 2) Our front window seat was logistically great, but there are two above-the-window space heaters. Needed SPF 50 by meal's end and everything glowed red (see pics). Probably not a summer issue but made us warm yet somehow uncomfortable All in all a really nice dinner and definitely in the rotation!

There's cucumber and tomato salad, there's sausage, there's olives, there's bread, there's butter with honey, tahini with molasses, jam, and there's eggs. My friends and I got the kofta platter and Turkish breakfast with the menemen, which was this interesting tomato and egg dish that was very soft and mildly sweet. The kofta beef meatballs were nice and savory, perfectly paired with the rice and salad. The Turkish breakfast is primarily a lot of cheeses with sauces and small bites with a bread basket - would only recommend if you like different kinds of cheeses and since it is very light on its own it would prob be best to order something in addition to it. My friends and I also tried the salep tea which was this traditional Turkish drink that is very thick and creamy, has a very unique texture with a sweet flavor and cinnamon garnish.

We had to ask twice for our rice we ordered for entrees to be brought out because our server forgot. Fine, that happens. But what really threw me off was when I questioned if the mold in my cheese was normal, the server assured me it was naturally occurring for the flavor. I felt gaslit because I have never had Parmesan with such questionable green growth on it for consumption in any restaurant in my entire life. The server said if it bothered me, he'd bring out fresh shavings with no mold. I have left pictures so you can be the judge of this. Aside from my minor issue with the cheese, the ambiance of the restaurant was nice and there's plenty of choices for meat and non-meat eaters alike

We got a table right away. The menu had a variety of dishes like appetizers, soups, gyro, kebabs, pasta, pizzas, seafood, wraps and sandwiches. In drinks section, they had the Turkish coffee and tea. We started with their complementary bread, so fluffy and light, we pretty ate the whole thing before any of our dishes came. I ordered my favorite fried liver cubes from the hot apps section, and it was fantastic. It was full of flavor, perfectly sized cubes and properly fried. Tasted so good with the complimentary bread (we requested a second one). For entree we ordered the Mix Grill and Karisik Izgara as it was a perfectly sharable dish for two and we got to try 5 of their kebabs that are lamb shish, ground lamb, chicken shish, ground chicken and grilled meat patties. Both ground kebabs were excellent, full of flavors. The shish and patties were also good. We got the margarita pizza too, but that one was disappointed, seemed like some sauce was just thrown on top of the cheese and wasn't baked long enough. Our server was really friendly. She always stayed on top of things. Our dishes came out in quick time, it was impressive. Despite the shortcoming of the pizza, which is not usually a Turkish dish, I was thoroughly impressed by the actually Turkish dishes, like liver cubes and kebabs. I didn't really know…read morewhat I was getting into quality wise but I remember being pleasantly surprised by how good and fresh the food was. There was such great attention to detail that it quickly became one of my favorite restaurants. I recently returned with my pastor for a visit and we both had an excellent lunch! We arrived and were able to be seated quickly since it was a slow weekday, only 8 other people in the restaurant. We sat down and both got a couple of kebab combos, a shepherd's salad, with a mixed hummus and baba ghanoush appetizer. They also bring out house made bread, still hot out of the over. Their bread is fantastic, unfortunately both of us are avoiding carbs so we added it to the to go bag for family. The service at Saray is good, the staff is always friendly. One thing I love about Saray is that they don't rush you out like so many other restaurants do. That being said, if you want the check you may need to flag one of the staff members down or get their attention to get the bill. If you have the disposition of a squirrel this may make you uncomfortable but keep in mind they're not ignoring you; they are just letting you stay as long as you like. From what I heard that's more how they treat you at restaurants in Europe, where your table is yours till you leave. I prefer that than feeling like I'm disrupting an assembly line by not leaving immediately after finishing dinner. Anyway our food came hot out of the oven. I ordered a kofte and donner kebab combo. Kofte is like a Turkish meatball while donner is a lamb and beef blend roasted on a spit. My friend order chicken shish and kofte kebab. The food was cooked very nicely and as always had great flavor to it. The only gripes I could think of at Saray over the years is here or there the rice was a little on the soggy side. Also a few times the donner kebab, the one roasted on a spit, was a little dryer than other times but that's not the end of the world in my mind; plus I've never experienced that with their other kebab choices. If you're rather hungry I'd recommend trying the mixed grill as it's kind of a sample kebab platter. And the Iskender kebab, lamb with tomato sauce and in house made bread, is also a fantastic choice! The atmosphere at Saray can range from a perfect quite date spot to rather boisterous with families and couples filling the restaurant; although generally most of the time it's a relatively calm atmosphere. Keep in mind too that they can be fairly busy at different times, I've gone in there on a Tuesday night and it's been more packed than a Friday, although more often than not the weekends are their busiest days. Saray can be a bit pricey but so is everything these days and they give you decent sized portions. Saray is a model for consistency, they have been on point with their food for years. If you like Turkish food or if you would like to try something new, give Saray a try; they are fantastic!
