In times of cholera, this place delivered! Literally and figuratively! Called to check if they would deliver to Verplanck and they agreed, despite the distance from Ossining. They made the most flavorful and tender octopus I ever had, and that's probably my favorite dish (it was better than we I had in Barcelona!). Pretty good spot minus the 20% service charge. Food was delicious and had a good flavor. Staff was really friendly and was helpful in directing you to recommendations and the specials of the night. Definitely can recommend this spot for a date night given the vibe, friendliness and food. But definitely beware of the service charge as this was not posted anywhere or on menus or pointed out by the wait staff. Since we are fans of Turkish Cuisine we decided to take a drive from across the Hudson to try Melikie. We loved it. Pretty much standard Turkish food but that is a good thing becuase that is exactly what we we looking for. I guess all Turkish restaurants have their version of a Shepard Salad and theirs was differnt but delectable. Big bonus is they are dog friendly and have an outdoor deck where you can dine with your furry friend. We will be back! read more

A gem in the heart of Ossining, NY. Family owned Turkish restaurant. Beware the salads where you can add protein are enormous! Highly recommend the appetizer sampler where you get a plentiful basket of pita with many dips! Filling in and of itself. Also had the lentil soup which was spiced warmly - I've had anything quite like it. Fried zuuchini pancakes with yogurt sauce were outstanding as was the falafel. I just ordered here yesterday, I got the chicken doner, baklava and kunefe. It was AMAZING! When I walked into the restaurant It was beautifully decorated and the environment was welcoming, then I was warmly greeted by a woman who I believe is named Ebru. The chicken doner was super yummy, the chicken was seasoned and the basmati rice was cooked perfectly (it was a Tuesday only specialty and I had to get it!) The baklava was delicious and the kunefe was a 10/10. I've never had middle eastern food before but I have found my new favorite dessert (kunefe) and a spot for a good meal. read more

We got takeout from here in the beginning of the year (before Covid) and it was amazing. Ordered again about a month ago and it was the most disappointing meal we've had all year. For two people we ordered four entrees and an appetizer platter and falafel appetizer expecting to have leftovers for the next day. However, they noticeably decreased the portions of everything so much it was insane. The $24 sampler platter had about 2-3 tablespoons of each dip--basically a third of what other similar restaurants in the area serve for the same price. $25 entrees had the serving size of a $12 food truck lunch (my husband literally got the same exact portion of grilled kofte kebab in Manhattan for same quality and half the price). I had a soup that was not only watered down, it was also only filled about 70% to the top. Falafel appetizer was small, burnt and basically inedible even though it averaged to be almost $2 a falafel. Not sure what happened but this experience went from one of our top takeouts to the worst. Tl;dr spent over $100 on a meal that should generously feed four, but it was barely enough for two. read more

My husband and I went to Melike ( the original Ossining restaurant, not the new Kisco one ) around 8 PM on Sunday. We walked in to find the place packed and bustling with energy. We were pleasantly surprised, and very happy for them, as we have been eating there since they opened in the smaller spot up the street. As there was only one small table left, we opted to eat outside, where the noise level was more tolerable, with only two or three tables occupied. Good decision, warm night; very relaxing. The young man who was our server, was attentive, knowledgeable about food and wines and charming, engaging in bits of conversation. The food has always was excellent. We started with a Tzatziki appetizer,( a large bowl of yogurt, chopped cucumbers, and garlic, with a basket full of grilled pita bread triangles). I it was perfect and we will have the rest of it this evening. We ordered a bottle of Chilean, Cabernet, Sauvignon, which they were out of and substituted a Turkish Cabernet Savignon, which our waiter told us was very similar to the one we ordered. It was well, balanced, smooth, and very drinkable. For mains, my husband ordered the lamb donor, which was delicious and served with rice ( perfectly cooked ), and salad. The portion was very generous and again needed a take home container. For my main, I chose a bowl of lentil soup that was very tasty and filling so that when they brought out the four zucchini pancakes, I was only able to eat half of them. they were perfectly crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside and served with a yogurt dressing. I will have the other half of the order for lunch tomorrow. This restaurant is truly a Turkish delight. There are so many wonderful things to order on the menu and very fair prices. The ambience is lovely inside definitely having a mid eastern flare. The chef certainly cooks genuine Turkish food, and everyone who serves you is extremely pleasant. If you haven't eaten there, please give them a try. Guaranteed to go back again. read more

We came here on a late evening on Sunday. We saw they close at 9PM we got there at 8PM. We felt rushed the moment we stepped in, the restaurant was close to empty, only two other tables were full and they put us against the wall near the entrance. I saw all these other tables were available and it was a bit awkward that we were placed there. We went through the menu and it seemed to have good options, so I chose a salad, tzaziki and falafel. My husband got lamb. When the plates arrived I automatically noticed the tzaziki bowl was broken. I was scared that a piece of the plate fell into the tzaziki bowl. My husband said it's probably just broken from before so we tried it with the pita bread. The tzaziki was not good, however the bread was fine. The salad was not good, it had an exaggerated amount of carrots. I wish I took a picture before I took out all the carrots.the falafel was fine, we were done eating at around 8:45PM. I decided to take he food home because I thought maybe it would taste different later on, I ended up throwing it all out. I will not return. read more

Our experience with this restaurant was awful. We called at 7:30 on Friday night. The first issue we had was they ran out of rice. Both meals we ordered come with rice, so not having rice is kind off a big deal. I don't even know how you run out if rice when you aren't working at full strength. Nonetheless we opted for different sides. We ordered the Curry chicken entree with fries. Bad move the sauce had little to no flavor, the chicken was over cooked and eating with fries just doesn't go. Oh and the fries where not fresh, they we're saggy. Probably cooked earlier and re-heated for our order. We also ordered grilled kofte kebab, essentially little meat burgers with salad and rice. The salad was a joke and of course no rice. The meat was burned and I guess they were aiming for medium rare but it was cooked on such high heat that it burned the meat outside. Now I know we ordered 25 minutes before they closed so the kitchen was probably rushing but we paid $50 for trash and didn't eat it all. I'll never eat or order from this place again. read more

Had the branzino. they did not filet it so for the first time ever I eat the skin unbelievable. The hummus was so good we ordered two of them and the best thing that they do is they take the pita bread and they cut it into like little pieces . the only thing that did not look good was the salad hat came out with the fish. it just looked like it had been sitting around for a while but it tasted really really good. Ordered takeout here the first time tonight. The restaurant itself and cute and has a nice ambiance. We ordered the grilled platter, shrimp and chicken kebabs, fried shrimp, and babaganoush. I must admit that this restaurant has surprised me, which made me come back to try the variety of dishes it offers and every time I go, the chef surprises me with his wonderful preparations, all the meats are at their perfect cooking point, the spices are perfect, it is a place that I would recommend and where I always want to return. Despite the fact that I have been here several times and enjoyed the food, our open table reservation with friends from out of town were NOT honored after being only 5 minutes late for our reservation. Lunch was perfect! From the moment we stepped in the door, the staff was welcoming and attentive as if we were guests in a private home. The food was perfect - perfectly presented, minimal wait, beautiful to look at and so flavorful. We devoured the mixed cold appetizer. The lebni and kisir were so good we might order separate plates of those next time. The Mediterranean salad was enormous by itself and we ordered it heaped with chicken kebab, so we took a lot of it home to enjoy over the next few days. The main course and star of the show was the Iskender Doner which was the best I have ever eaten: thin sliced lamb, crisp on the surface but tender and juicy, with a thick, velvety tomato sauce and a nest of warm pita strips underneath to soak in all the lamb juices. Apparently this place gets pretty crazy in the evening. We could overhear the reservations being called in throughout the lunch hour, so make a reservation if you want dinner here. Lunch, by contrast was very relaxed and not crowded. The prices are expensive for the location, but this place delivers both service and flavor, and the portions are very generous, so we felt that we got our money's worth. read more

We went the other eveening and were pleased with what we found. Four of us were new to Turkish dining and the staff were very knowledgeable about the dishes and how they were prepared. The retaurant was clean and well decorated without being crowded. The servings were more than enough though no one left anything on the plates. Each dish was nicely presented and served at just the right temperature. There was a shared appetizer that was more than enough for the five diners. Conversation was good and the staff were very accomadating, to our post meal conversation. We had the Baclava and Rice pudding that were delightful. Turkish coffee was very good.
