Whoa where did this place come from? We ordered from here for delivery last night. I couldn't believe it. Israeli Mexican fusion? GTFO. What an ingenious combination. There are so many things here that sound incredible but I ultimately went for a falafel bowl. You can choose a base which, if memory serves, was a selection of grains or kale, I went with the latter. It was very good. They throw on a deliciously flavorful sauce. I could probably eat anything bathed in sauce. GF ordered the shakshuka and ate the entire thing. She also ordered yuka fries but literally did not give me the chance to try any one of them. I also ordered fries, they were the small kind which I adore. They were a touch soggy for my liking but I plan on throwing the leftovers in an air fryer tomorrow. We ordered chocolate rugelach and babka which I have not yet had a chance to sample. Great place. The mole has the traditional richness, but a slightly different flavor profile since they recently got Kosher certified and don't want to mix dairy with meat. I am from northern California where the food is pretty amazing. When we return from trips my wife and I always comment, good to be back home where the food is so good. We were on the East Coast visiting my folks. Wow! Wish we had a fusion restaurant like Falafel Taco in California. Where to start? Ma Bett's shredded brisket was killer. The humus outstanding as were the Latkes. Better than my mom's. And I had to take some of the Chocolate Babka for later. YUM! Sometimes you go to a restaurant and can't seem to find anything on the menu that looks appetizing. The reverse is the case at F/T. I wanted to try just about everything and had a hard time deciding. My parents have raved about this place for months... "oh, you've gotta go to Pleasantville... that cute lil' Israeli-Mexican spot owned by the cutest Israeli-Mexican couple..." So on a snow day off, we headed over to this place right by the Metro North to try it out and support a small business, especially during this time. What?!?! This spot is so crazily inventive! Such exciting mixes of cilantro and crispy potato and creamy falafel, and fluffy matzoh balls with soft tortilla chips. The Mexican Latkes are the best latkes I've ever had. The falafel burger is amazing and I'm not even such a fan of falafel. The matzoh ball soup was also outstanding. 5 stars!!!! read more

Randomly found this driving through New York and it was awesome. The original falafel taco on a tortilla was amazing - crispy fresh falafel with a fresh salad and tahini sauce. The chunky guacamole has a bit of schug for just the right amount of spice. Staff was friendly and accommodated off the menu orders for the kids. Cute outdoor seating is perfect on a nice day. This is not a review of the food at this establishment. I live in Scarsdale. I am a member of the Jacob Burns film center in Pleasantville. Yesterday, I had tickets for a movie at 7:35. At 6:15 I called falafel taco directly (meaning they would not have to share any of the money with a third-party service) and put in an order for two items from the menu. I told the young lady on the phone that I would be there at 7:15 to pick it up and pay for it. I walked into the restaurant at 7:13 looking forward to enjoying my food after paying for it and picking it up. There were three employees in the place and no customers. Two employees were behind the counters and one was just sort of leaning on the counter in the customer area. I said that I was there to pick up the food that I had ordered. The young lady behind the counter sprang into action to begin the work of preparing my order. I told her to forget it and I went next door for a slice of pizza. Falafel Taco is our new favorite place to go for Kosher meat that is well prepared and flavorful, with terrific combinations, friendly staff, and great prices. I have now been to both locations (the other is in Greenwich), and they are both fantastic. The Shawarma Taco is my favorite, as the chicken is perfectly cooked, tender, juicy, and flavorful. I really liked the combination with the avocado, tahini, and Israeli salad. Other people in our group really liked the steak bowl and the chicken mole (in a laffa). On my previous visit, I enjoyed the brisket bowl, and thought the carrot barley (grain choice/side) was especially good. They have such interesting and delicious flavor combinations! The people working there are so friendly and accommodating. I can't believe how good the prices are for kosher meat. There are also plenty of vegetarian choices that also look great. Came in here for the first time on our way down to the city for a quick bite. LOVED IT! The food selection was so unique and unlike anything I've seen offered elsewhere blending together two of my favorite cuisines... Mexican & Israeli. We started with soups, split pea was thinner than I expected but compensated in flavor. Mexican spin on matzo ball was good- the matzo balls themselves could've used a bit more flavor (coming from an expert matzo ball maker). Would've saved my room for the next course which was phenomenal! We got a falafel bowl & the special which was salmon over mushroom risotto bowl with sweet potato. All was fantastic. Cappuccinos were some of the best I've had, served in an actual mug. Don't come here with a large group unless you're getting takeout... in which case, bring everyone!!! read more

Great find, needed to grab lunch and found this gem in Pleasantville. Very unique menu- we had latkes with an avocado topping, Tel Aviv tacos and turkey shawarma tacos. We got the tortilla option for both (comes with 2 tacos each) so that was good for sharing, had one of each. The ingredients were fresh and flavorful. They also had some fun sauces that you can request. I had the green sauce which was mildly spicy. Who knew Mexican and Israeli food would make a great fusion! They also had fresh baklava, rugalech, and babka on the counter, so tempting. Will definitely get those next time! I was so hungry after a work out and there they were. They are an Israeli Mexican joint which is great because I've always wanted to try kosher habaneros. . I ordered the brisket and falafel tacos with the Yucca Fries. All very satisfying. Especially the yucca fries. My health coach will be very happy about the falafel and the fries. Except for the fried part. I was happy about them though They came with a creamy, subtle herb Mayo that is how fries should normally be served. Only sadness is that the wind took them and it started raining and I had already tossed the lid to the container. But they gave me another, saving the day. Appropriate portions. We got takeout from falafel taco last night. When I got there after the 20 minutes they told me on the phone they were scrambling to get my order together and it seemed very stressful. The food we ordered was good and still hot by the time we ate it. We had two citrus chicken bowls with brown rice, two falafel veggie burger, falafel bowl and the Mexican corn chowder as well as the matzo ball tortilla soup. All the ingredients worked well together and tasted fresh. Something I didn't like about this place is I payed with a credit card through the square software at the restaurant and now I keep getting promotional emails from there which is rather bothersome considering I didn't agree (or wasn't aware) that I agreed to receive them. read more

A solid 3.5 for me. I really like the fusion aspect; it's very unique and I've never seen anything else like it before. Also, on their menu they explain the story of how this restaurant came to be and it's a really heart-warming story. It's set in a really cute location and would be great when warm outside. We went on one of the coldest days and sat inside. A group of 8 of us went to check this place out for lunch and only one other person was there when we got there. It was a little hard to find only because it's not along the main street, but it's on the side of one of the buildings. The restaurant itself it clean, but pretty small. The 8 of us basically took up all the seating in the restaurant. There are two small tables with two seats each in the window nooks and then two bar tables with 3-4 seats each. I think going in the warmer months would be more enjoyable just because it was a bit cold in the restaurant and a frigid draft would come in when someone opened the door. The woman was also very nice and the service was fine. A lot of their menu items sound really interesting and delicious. I ended up ordering something on the specials menu- butternut squash soup and the steak burrito. This is where I think I went wrong. I'm not a huge taco fan so I opted to get something else when I should probably have just stuck to one of their more popular items. First of all, I didn't really know how much food it was going to be and I didn't know how much it would cost either, but I soon found out that for a cup of soup and a burrito it was $17.07. Yikes, that was a little steep for me for lunch, but I figured that I would get a lot of food and I would be able to stretch it into two meals, in which case that price would be justified. So, I was a little disappointed when I saw my burrito being made- one scoop of rice, one scoop beans, one fistful of chopped steak, and a couple teaspoons of avocado. The size was not very impressive. I was expecting a fat burrito like what I would see at a lot of places that offer them even at Chipotle, but alas, this was not so. I would equate it to the size of two breakfast burritos from McDonald's (this might be an exaggeration, but only slightly). I looked up that a cup of soup costs around $5 (which is also a little steep, but more reasonable) so that must have meant this burrito was around $11-$12. Flavor-wise, I don't think it was bad, but I think it was lacking. It tasted good when I added some of the chipotle sauce, but still not very complex. I'm interested in trying something else if I go again, but it'd be nice if there were lunch specials or if some of their prices were lower. It's hard to justify paying that much when I could go somewhere else and get stuffed for almost half the price I paid here. read more
