Hospitality is a lot about how you treat your customers. Its the energy, the manners, the vibe, the human connection. Sad to say, after being loyal customers, this place turned us off tonight permanently. I placed a large anniversary dinner order by phone, including tahdig ($12). During the call, I specifically asked if the rice came with tomato and onion and was told no it comes with the tahdig that I ordered. So yes it comes with the order. I was also asked whether I wanted the gheymeh on top or on the side of the tahdig. I chose on the side. When I got home, the order didn't match what was discussed: The tahdig wasn't traditional rice tahdig like me or my wife have had countless times. It was more like this brownish, sheet-like, crumble with a few flecks of rice on the crumble, but not crispy. Not Persian tahdig. The gheymeh was missing entirely, despite being discussed on the call. The tomato and onion that I was told were included were not there. The fesenjan had only a few pieces of chicken. The ghormeh sabzi was okay, but pretty underwhelming in flavor. I called politely to clarify about the missing tahdig (for next time) and was told someone would call me back. No one did. When I called again an hour later, the same person who took my original order responded in a dismissive and accusatory tone, unilaterally escalating her tone and voice immediately, almost angrily accusing me of daring to call, and told me that the tahdig does not come with gheymeh, and tomato and onion aren't included either. (This is the opposite of what I was told when ordering). She repeatedly interrupted me, talking over me, instead of listening or trying to resolve the issue. We've been coming here since moving from Southern California a few years ago, whenever we felt homesick and wanted some Persian food. The food has always been....OK....nothing like Persian restaurants in Toronto or Southern California, but we continued ordering out of nostalgia and lack of other options. However, this experience today, incorrect information, missing items, no follow-up, and then, the way the situation was handled was our final turn off. Disappointing, especially for what was meant to be a special occasion. We won't be returning, nor will our visiting Persian family or friends. read more

Honestly....i was not expecting this amazing food. The atmosphere is beautiful btw, i think it's part of a hotel and has classy and fancy vibes but still casual. The food is the main factor of the 5 stars. BEST hummus I have tried so far. I could lick that plate clean. We ordered so many extra pita baskets but only got charged for one haha. The appetizers amazing too and the portion sizes are decent! I had the Chilean Sea Bass special and amazing texture and cooked perfectly. The rice I was not that big of a fan bc it was a little dry so that's my only complain with the food. Oh and skip on the desserts....they weren't that good lol. Ordered delivery, so I can't speak to the service or ambiance. But I tried the chicken kabob and shrimp kabob. Overall, the flavors of the proteins were good, but familiar. The chicken and shrimp were cooked well. I think the prices per dish are on the expensive side. Delivery portions also seemed much smaller than the photos of the food in the restaurant. Wow, dare I say the BEST Mediterranean food I have ever had in my life at Medi Bistro. We had a private party where they served us in a private space on an upper level of the restaurant. I was dropped off by an uber, but if you're driving here, there is validated parking in a structure or affordable pricing in a lot adjacent to the building. Since we were there for a private event, we were lucky to be able to try a good variety of their menu. My boyfriend really enjoyed their Lamb Kabob, Beef Sirloin Kabob and Koobideh. I really loved the Shirasi Salad, Hummus, Pita, Mirza Ghasemi (a smoked eggplant), Chicken Koobideh, and Sea Bass. We were also spoiled with desserts and I was able to try their Baklava and Persian Ice Cream. Yummmm! What a glorious feast. You truly can't go wrong with any of their menu items here. read more

I had an amazing and unique dining experience today for lunch. Recently opened Medi Bistro offers a variety of MEDITERRANEAN-PERSIAN dishes. The restaurant is designed in a beautiful modern space with Persian influences. There is a large bar to the right of the entrance with several large screen TVs. We sat at one of the comfortable high back booths which would sit at least 4 people. They have onsite parking leading into the restaurant so when the weather is bad it's a nice bonus not to have to venture outdoor. When you leave the attendant in the lobby will validate your ticket so make sure you hold on to it. A full menu is on display before you enter the restaurant as well as online. A lunch menu is not available on weekends only dinner available on Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 11 pm. Our waitress Chelsey helped us decide on starters as well as explained some of the side and main dishes we had questions for. She checked on us several times and what I believe is the owner stopped by to say hello. When she saw our complimentary grilled pita slices were low she asked another staff member to deliver more. He also brought us another two of the sauces. One is yogurt based and the other she explained in more depth because I found it unique and delicious. It was made with cilantro, hot peppers, lots of vinegar and I think lemon juice. It was different from anything sauce I've ever had and I loved it. A condiment jar on the table had sumac in it. We sprinkled that on our pita which added a citrus flavor. Also sprinkled on everything else we ate to get a full feel for the spice. I wouldn't mind putting it on just about anything! Their food philosophy is designed to share and share we did. The first dish, a fried eggplant in tomato sauce was recommended by Chelsey. It was a good dish to scoop and eat up with the delicious grilled pita points. I favored the Dolmeh myself: vegetable, rice, special herbs wrapped in grape leaves topped with pomegranate sauce. They were similar to Greek dolmades but these were served warm. They offer enough wines by the glass as well as specialty cocktails to satisfy your drink appetite. I was pleased with the LA VIEILLE FERME rosé from French. It was well balanced with fruity aromas and a smooth finish. They served it in a large wine class with a good big pour. My adult daughter had the Anar Sour made with bourbon/laphroaig, pomegranate syrup, lemon also served in a large wine glass filled to the top. Our main entrees were a lamb and shrimp dish served with the most wonderful saffron basmati rice I've ever eaten. Each dish comes with a side that you can substitute with a different rice, beans or grains from the side/substitute part of their menu. The large lamb shank cooked with Persian lime, turmeric, dill was tender and flavorful. It came with fava bean saffron basmati rice. My daughter doesn't like fava beans so they omitted it and on her request served mostly plain basmati with a few saffron threads on top. My shrimp kabob cooked with saffron, orange zest and pistachio basmati rice is a dish I will long remember. It was excellent. The shrimp were grilled with a slight char served on the place along the rice. Oh that rice was heavenly. Each strand of rice was perfectly separated and infused saffron and orange. It was exquisite. Who would have thought I had room for dessert? I couldn't resist with so many unique options. With Chelsey's help I decided on the puff pastry filled with custard and whipped cream, topped with sour cherry. A cappuccino along with dessert was a good way to end a memorable dining experience. The restaurant staff is very personable, receptive and all around nice while still being professional. I can't wait to return. read more

Medi is located in an office building very close to the White Plains Metro North train station. It is not necessary in the "heart" of the downtown White Plains Mamaroneck Avenue area but very accessible by both car and foot. The restaurant is very beautifully decorated and even though in the building lobby, the artwork and ambiance is very pleasing. Medi offers a great variety of Persian food delights including Kabobs, Rices and other delicious foods and options. The service is top notch, very attentive and professional. The wait staff are very friendly and familiar with the menu options, so if you are not familiar with Persian food, they will not steer you wrong. The only shortfall is that $30 plus for a kabob dish can be interpreted as pricey. We had heard good things about this new White Plains Persian restaurant, so our expectations were reasonably high. I'd say that Medi Bistro was more or less what we expected, which is a good thing. The five of us shared several appetizers and LOVED the Kashk Badenjoon (fried eggplant with crispy onions) the most. NOTE that the appetizer is the consistency of babaganoush and delicious with the very fresh grilled pita also served with all appetizer salads. We also very much enjoyed Mirza Ghasemi (smoked eggplant and tomato) and the Hummus with mushrooms. Most at the table had a kebab of sorts. They were all very tasty, and we especially enjoyed the Joojeh (Cornish hen) kebab simply because it was different than traditional beef, lamb or even salmon. I ordered the Khoresh Bademjon (a type of lamb stew), which was very good although I felt had too much stew and not enough lamb. Notable was that the lamb was super soft and tender. We shared a bottle of wine (their wine list is more expensive than it should be by about 25% for what they serve) but were too full for desert. Three of the five in our party had a cocktail. With gratuity, the bill was $60 per person, which is reasonable. Parking in the building (entrance on South Lex and Martine) is free with validation at the front desk. I'd recommend Medi Bistro and we plan to come again and try more from their menu. It's good to have quality spots in White Plains that don't cost an arm and a leg. This is one of them. read more

Absolutely incredible. We had a chance find while searching on Yelp and were so pleasantly surprised. The eggplant paste appetizer with the lamb shank are an absolute must have. It may not be easy to find the place from the street as it's inside what looks like an office building. But it's right through the lobby. The falafels were perfectly crisp on the outside and soft in the middle. It came with hummus, pickled veggies (which were delicious), couscous, and tahini dip. Everything I had here was great, except for the dolmas, they were mushy. But that was easy to overlook when everything else was perfect. The staff was friendly and helpful. I dined at Medi Bistro last night during a happy hour event. While I am a vegetarian, I need to give props to this new gem of a restaurant in the neighborhood. The hummus. WOW. Can't remember the last time I had hummus this great. A little olive oil, creamy and delicious. And the pita bread was beyond fresh. As were the vegetables. The wine selection was stellar. The owners are a delight and the staff, from V at the bar to Luis serving, it's an all around great experience. Run, don't walk. I'll certainly go back time and time again! yes!!! i LOVE persian food, and really felt the absence of any good persian restaurant in the area. tried medi bistro and loved it! loved the ground chicken kebob with sour cherry rice, as well as the hummus. both were great! i also tried the chicken fesenjoon - a stew - and while i normally love this dish, i didn't love it quite as much as usual - medi prepared it with larger grilled chicken pieces, and usually i have it with chicken meatballs, which i prefer. nevertheless, i will most definitely order from medi bistro again and again! read more
