Zaffron Bloom in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ. I found the ultimate hidden gem! It's very hard to find an authentic Persian restaurant in NJ has to be on your list-it is a family owned restaurant, everything is made with the freshest ingredients to serve Modern Persian Cuisine with a Middle-Terranean twist! They are also BYOB and family owned! It was my first time trying Persian food, so I didn't know what to expect! The moment I took my first bite of the Kebab "Barg" ... my tongue started to dance then my shoulders! The same thing happened for the Kebab Koobideh. Did I mention the Zaffron Rice?! My goodness the flavors were bold, fragrant, and completely unforgettable! THAT dinner so good, I went on a little food adventure a few days after across Manhattan, trying a few different Persian spots just to see if anything could compare. While some were decent, none of them matched what I had at Zaffron. It made me realize that if I want the REAL DEAL, I have to make the trip to Jersey. My friend and I loved it so much, we made it our little tradition to visit once every season! Zaffron = Welcoming atmosphere! Impeccable Service! A menu that keeps pulling me back! If you've never tried or want to taste the best Persian cuisine, this is the place to start!

Food was amazing. Owners were so so nice. Sumac fries and sauce were delicious and so flavorful. Combo platter was filling and meats were very tasty. Such a great spot. Mint lemonade is a must try, so yummy.

I actually happened to find this place because another restaurant was closed that I wanted to try on a Friday night. I'm very happy I got to try Zafron Bloom. In one word - flavor. Everything we had so much delicious fresh seasonings and packed with a punch. My boyfriend and I started with some fun drinks we've never tried. The sour Cherry drink was great, he tried the Persian lemonade and loved it too. We started with the dip trio and tried the hummus, lebne and an eggplant dip and they were all fabulous. We are the whole bowl of pita trying them all. For dinner I got the chicken kebab wrap and was a little worried it would be a plain and boring option but it was delicious. It came with a tzaziki dipping sauce but I barely needed it, the sauce on the wrap was perfect on its own. My boyfriend got kebabs and came with the famous saffron rice. The chicken was cooked to perfection. I am always a little weary to get chicken at any Mediterranean place, it's always either undercooked or overcooked, but this was truly perfection. Highly recommend trying a chicken skewer. With no room left for dessert there, we got some baklava to go and tried it the next day. Truly probably the best baklava I've ever had. I'll definitely be back to try out more menu items and of course get more baklava. Street parking is easy. The interior of the restaurant is small but it wasn't incredibly packed when we went on a Friday night which I'm sure will change as they get busier and more well-known. They were also very busy with takeout orders but everything flowed smoothly. It's definitely a family running this restaurant and you can tell. They are so nice and kind, they also kept bringing us samples of their crunchy rice - which was delicious. I'll be back!

I dream about going back. Entire dining experience was so perfect. Thing I would not skip out on: variety of saffron rice (we ordered several and they plate it for you) - sooo delicious. The balance of flavors with the saffron, sweet barberries and basmati is perfection. Also enjoyed the combination platter, salmon and crispy rice. Lamb, chicken and beef kebabs all incredibly flavorful and cooked to perfection. We were obsessed with their refreshments. Incredible mint lemonades with chia, pomegranate and many more to choose from. What made the experience even better is that it's a family owned business which gave patrons an energy that matched the cuisine. They were so sweet to my toddler and made us feel at home. We will be back many times and intend to eat everything on the menu in the next few months. Thank you all for a wonderful experience.

Zaffron Bloom in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, is a delightful addition to the culinary scene, offering a fusion of Modern Persian Cuisine with Middle-terranean influence. Helmed by Chef Shahin, whose years of catering experience have culminated in the realization of her dream restaurant, Zaffron Bloom promises a unique dining experience. The restaurant's namesake spice, saffron, is aptly celebrated for its rich history, cultural significance, and exquisite flavor profile.During our lunch visit, we were treated to a delicious meal that surpassed our expectations. The service was impeccable, exceeding the standard. Our decision to dine at Zaffron Bloom was influenced by a friend's glowing recommendation, and we're thrilled to have discovered this gem. Zaffron Bloom truly embodies the essence of "the spice of life" with its innovative approach to traditional Persian cuisine. Deliciousness!! To all Yelpers.... Guys we have to support small local business. It's more important than you can imagine especially during these times. Give them a try, we're sure you'll enjoy it. Be on the lookout... a little insider info, they'll soon be opening a market adjacent to Zaffron. Good luck with all and future ventures. @vinopotato.

Crankiness aside... the fam decided to step outside of our comfort zone and try Persian food for the very first time. The restaurant - looks great inside (I've passed this place countless times over the years and don't think I even peeked inside). The gal behind the counter - could not be any nicer. The food - delicious, packed with flavor. My kids were baffled how proteins they're used to eating (beef, chicken) could taste so differently thanks to unique spices and whatnot. The meal came to about $20 per person (no drinks, just the entrée) and while the 'Kabob Koobideh' was a generous portion, the falafel sandwich (for $15) is wildly overpriced (it's about $10 from Greek Town right across the street, never mind about $8 from Mamoun's just about two minutes away over on Rt. 17N). Happy to have tried it, would come back (while grumbling about the cost under my breath because I'm a crabby old man).

They both actually enjoyed it, and I thought it was pretty close to my mom's recipe. The only sad thing was that we ordered tahdig but the table next to us had ordered 2 large plates and they had no more, which was odd given it was only 1pm and the restaurant opens at 11am. The service is very attentive. Right when we sat down the host gave us water which was nice. The waiter was a little too attentive, kept coming up to us to ask if we were ready to order when we were not, and just kept coming and coming every two minutes. They give complimentary flat bread which is tasty. Our Persian friend mentioned usually Persian restaurants give the bread with herbs and feta rather than just plain. We did find on the menu the herbs and feta was an extra cost. We had the kebab combo and subbed cherry rice and salad (which is cucumbers and tomatoes) and also exchanged the ground chicken kebab for a chicken breast kebab. The standout was the steak kebab and the cherry rice. There were so many cherries in the rice, and it was both sweet and savory. I couldn't stop eating it. The steak was super juicy and well seasoned. I also really like the roasted tomato on the side, basil and pickled cabbage. We ordered a stew, think it was Ghormeh sabzi. It had a bunch of herbs in it, and beans and a dried lime. Was told not to eat the lime. It was a very strong and rich stew, I took a couple of bites. Don't think I could have eaten the whole thing. It's very strong. It's our friend's favorite Persian dish and she loved it. There was one dish we wanted that they ran out of but they gave us a couple of dollars off the bill which was nice. Overall excellent food! Would come back.

Turkish cuisine is a unique combination of flavors, spices, and herbs developed over thousands of years, influenced by the Central Asian nomads and Arabic, Persian, Italian, French, and Eastern European cultures. While New York has some great Turkish food if one knows where to look, most of it leaves some room for improvement. Could Jersey be better? The town of Carlstadt has mainly residential private homes, with a spattering of condos and garden apartments. The main shopping area is all of about three blocks long on both sides of the street. Translated from the Turkish language, meaning sultan, we have come to this family-owned/family-run establishment located on Hackensack Street since 2006 for Saturday dinner. The reservation was easily made by Google Assistant. Upon entering this hidden gem called Hünkar Restaurant as first-timers, my partner, our friends, and I were greeted by the staff inside a cozy room, where ethnic pictures and decorations as well as the music all add to the vibe. A great view of the NYC skyline is visible from their enclosed back patio. Their menu features Mediterranean and Turkish cuisine with a modern twist and serves alcohol. As an appetizer, we decided on the Kibbeh (Icli Kofte), Calamari (Kalamar), and Cigarette Borek (Sigara Boregi). For our main meal, we opted for Chicken Saute (Taouk Sote), Shrimp Kebab, Lamb Shish Kebab (Kuzu Sis Kebab), and Chicken Shish Kebab (Tavuk Kebab). All Kebab meal accompanied by rice, char-grilled tomatoes, peppers, and a small salad. Warm, fluffy pida bread with a crisp crust started our meal. Every dish bursts with authentic flavor and is beautifully presented, from the fact that Turkish families from all over the area eat here. The staff is warm, welcoming, and very professional; our server was Akincan "John," the owners' son. The price was comparable to the area with the right portion. We can recommend this place.
