Party of three on a Saturday evening around 7pm. Somehow the place was practically empty. We were seated in the back three season covered patio area - quite charming. The staff aren't too confident with English but I thought they did a great job communicating. We had the tzatziki dip, eggplant fritters, chicken platter, and another ground meat dish all of which were as good but the ground meat was the star of the show. At the table, there is ambient lighting and you're served tasty bread for the table. If you ask for water, they'll serve Poland spring for the table at a charge.

Saturday - 2pm I was transported to another world when I walked into the restaurant , bringing back fond memories of my travels to Istanbul and bodrum for a friends wedding years ago . We were immediately welcomed with a smile and positivity as we were given an option to choose where we wanted to be seated . We opted for the area in the back with a view of nyc ( despite the gloomy weather , it was quite nice ). The food was just like how I remember it, every dish from the cold appetizers ( a choice of 4 dips , the server helped pick them out.- as I like spicy , I enjoyed the spicy feta ), to the fried squid ( not chewy like the ones from American establishments ) , stuffed cabbage , mixed meat platter and the ultimate favorite , the steak were delicious . All the mains were accompanied by rice and salad . There were 5 of us and that was just the right amount of food . Of course , we had to make sure that we had room for dessert . Glad I convinced my mom , sisters to order two of the kunefe ( love the cheesiness and the warmth with the pistachio and honey ), a scoop of ice cream would have even made it even better . Our server, a beautiful young lady was attentive and made the whole experience memorable and enjoyable . I'm glad we found this gem , a 10 min drive from my sisters house . As I live in the city and have sampled loads of restaurants, I have high standards , which often stresses my family when I come to visit . This will be part of our rotation . I would like to come back and try it during dinner in the colder months , hopefully the restaurant will have more crowded than during lunch

    Great view

Great food and good prices. Beautiful view of NYC from back patio. Hünkar begendi and Adana kebap are my favorites.

We've been here a few times and besides the food being delicious, we're always impressed with the attentive service. Thought I'd try something different today so I got the Hunkar Begendi with chicken. Absolutely delicious! Loved it!

Came for dinner on a Sunday night and chose to sit in their outside area. Hunkar used to be BYOB, as of writing this, I was advised they now serve alcohol. If you would like to bring in your own, there is a $20 surcharge. Waiter was amazing and very attentive. They served great complementary bread which went well with our appetizer choice. We started with the grape leaves and 4 cold appetizer sampler and chose : #19 Hummus, #22 Spicy Paste (Acili Ezme), #25 Cacik, and #26 Lebni. All were great, but the Lebni was fantastic. I personally don't like grape leaves that much, but they were outstanding; so fresh. For entrees we ordered the #8 - Hunkar Special Mediterranean Salad with shrimp and #52 - Hunkar Special Mix Grill, both were great and we used some left over Lebni on top. To finish it off, a traditional Turkish Coffee. I have been a couple of times and will definitely be back.

We went last night for my boyfriend's mom's bday dinner. The food was amazing ! The staff were so friendly and warm welcoming. They seated us in the back area, which we requested because of the beautiful NYC views. It was just a very enjoyable well rounded meal and experience. Also the Happy Birthday at the end was beautiful. We will absolutely be coming back for a date night !

Loved our quick visit to this spot! Very polished and upscale setting, but also feels comfy and cozy for dinner with friends and family. We are vegan and we had plenty of options to choose from. The stuffed grape leaves were perfect. The small sampler appetizer was great and came with wonderful Turkish bread. The service was good as well. Can't wait to go back and try more of their veg options!

Service was great and wonderful, the young lady always checked up to make sure everything was great. Food was so tasty & had flavor to it! The rice was plain, which was okay for me. The onions definitely made up for it to combine it together. To top it off I also got fried calamari, it was a little bit chewy overall still had flavor to it. My go to drink was a mint lemonade that they make it into a slushie. I never had a mint lemonade so the taste to the drink was new to me but I loved it! You could bring your own liquor becusse they do not sell that. Overall amazing place for a quick lunch or dinner!

We went for early lunch so no reservations needed. Entering inside, your in a white, large modern dining area with lots of seating, a separate private room and a full bar with bartender. Felt like we were transported to a place in Greece! The open kitchen has a front display of fresh produce and seafood for added ambiance. Very nice. And we were served by a very professional and attentive waiter named Christian. To help with the selection of my wine, he offered me some to try. I thought that was a great way for them to introduce some new choices to us. Next we chose off the lunch special menu. Great deal since this restaurant is listed as a pricey place, the lunch menu kept the bill more reasonable for us. I have to give compliments to the wait staff. There was never an empy water glass, or a finished plate left on the table, and lemon was given whenever needed. The bottom line is that everything we got was deliscious! But to narrow it down, try the Tuna Tar Tar, the Grilled Salmon and the Mango Sorbet. Heard there is a violin on some evenings, and on Thursdays evening there's dancing to the 80's and 90's music. They also have outdoors seating with and without a tent. And valet parking offered as well. Thank you Elia for having a well put together restaurant and menu. Im looking forward to Thursday evenings for the dancing.!

My friend and I found this spot nearby in North Jersey, and we had to give it a try. We stoped in on a Friday evening to a fairly busy restaurant. The owner acknowledged and greeted us immediately. The dining style is pretty casual where customers can sit at any open table. We were very glad to find Tahdig on the menu, since my friend had been wanting to try it for a while. The owner took our appetizer and entree orders promptly after bringing over some fresh bread. He was the only employee waiting all of the tables, and he did managed to provide excellent service. Our Tahdig came out first, topped with our choice of Gheimeh (beef and split pea stewed in tomato sauce). This my first time trying stew on top of Tahdig, and I was surprised at how well it complemented the dish. The crispy rice was cooked to perfection as well; the Tahdig far exceeded our expectations. The entrees came out shortly after the appetizer. My friend and I both ordered the Kabob Soltani, which comes with one skewer of Beef Kabob and one of Koobideh. Every component of the meal was perfect. The meat was flavorful and cooked to perfection. The Saffron Basmati came very close to what I've had on the West Coast. Even the salad veggies were perfectly fresh and crispy. We had an exceptional dining experience with excellent food quality and great service. Even though Kabob On The Cliff is quite a drive for both me and my friend, we'll definitely be back soon.

Crankiness aside... the fam decided to step outside of our comfort zone and try Persian food for the very first time. The restaurant - looks great inside (I've passed this place countless times over the years and don't think I even peeked inside). The gal behind the counter - could not be any nicer. The food - delicious, packed with flavor. My kids were baffled how proteins they're used to eating (beef, chicken) could taste so differently thanks to unique spices and whatnot. The meal came to about $20 per person (no drinks, just the entrée) and while the 'Kabob Koobideh' was a generous portion, the falafel sandwich (for $15) is wildly overpriced (it's about $10 from Greek Town right across the street, never mind about $8 from Mamoun's just about two minutes away over on Rt. 17N). Happy to have tried it, would come back (while grumbling about the cost under my breath because I'm a crabby old man).

So naturally, had to check it out again this time and try it again. I don't know what it is, but well seasoned meat with their crispy fries just works. It was juicy, perfectly seasoned meat with that signature vertical spit char, loaded into their soft, flavorful handmade waffle-style bread. Every bite was a hit. Also ordered the chicken doner box with fries. The fries were very crispy and seasoned well and the chicken was just as I remembered it. A flavor bonanza. Rich, aromatic, and very delicious What was really the highlight was the sauces though. The garlic sauce was creamy and addictive, and the spicy one had just the right kick without overpowering everything. Portions are solid for the price.
