Party of three on a Saturday evening around 7pm. Somehow the place was practically empty. We were seated in the back three season covered patio area - quite charming. The staff aren't too confident with English but I thought they did a great job communicating. We had the tzatziki dip, eggplant fritters, chicken platter, and another ground meat dish all of which were as good but the ground meat was the star of the show. At the table, there is ambient lighting and you're served tasty bread for the table. If you ask for water, they'll serve Poland spring for the table at a charge.

Saturday - 2pm I was transported to another world when I walked into the restaurant , bringing back fond memories of my travels to Istanbul and bodrum for a friends wedding years ago . We were immediately welcomed with a smile and positivity as we were given an option to choose where we wanted to be seated . We opted for the area in the back with a view of nyc ( despite the gloomy weather , it was quite nice ). The food was just like how I remember it, every dish from the cold appetizers ( a choice of 4 dips , the server helped pick them out.- as I like spicy , I enjoyed the spicy feta ), to the fried squid ( not chewy like the ones from American establishments ) , stuffed cabbage , mixed meat platter and the ultimate favorite , the steak were delicious . All the mains were accompanied by rice and salad . There were 5 of us and that was just the right amount of food . Of course , we had to make sure that we had room for dessert . Glad I convinced my mom , sisters to order two of the kunefe ( love the cheesiness and the warmth with the pistachio and honey ), a scoop of ice cream would have even made it even better . Our server, a beautiful young lady was attentive and made the whole experience memorable and enjoyable . I'm glad we found this gem , a 10 min drive from my sisters house . As I live in the city and have sampled loads of restaurants, I have high standards , which often stresses my family when I come to visit . This will be part of our rotation . I would like to come back and try it during dinner in the colder months , hopefully the restaurant will have more crowded than during lunch

    Great view

Great food and good prices. Beautiful view of NYC from back patio. Hünkar begendi and Adana kebap are my favorites.

We've been here a few times and besides the food being delicious, we're always impressed with the attentive service. Thought I'd try something different today so I got the Hunkar Begendi with chicken. Absolutely delicious! Loved it!

Came for dinner on a Sunday night and chose to sit in their outside area. Hunkar used to be BYOB, as of writing this, I was advised they now serve alcohol. If you would like to bring in your own, there is a $20 surcharge. Waiter was amazing and very attentive. They served great complementary bread which went well with our appetizer choice. We started with the grape leaves and 4 cold appetizer sampler and chose : #19 Hummus, #22 Spicy Paste (Acili Ezme), #25 Cacik, and #26 Lebni. All were great, but the Lebni was fantastic. I personally don't like grape leaves that much, but they were outstanding; so fresh. For entrees we ordered the #8 - Hunkar Special Mediterranean Salad with shrimp and #52 - Hunkar Special Mix Grill, both were great and we used some left over Lebni on top. To finish it off, a traditional Turkish Coffee. I have been a couple of times and will definitely be back.

We went last night for my boyfriend's mom's bday dinner. The food was amazing ! The staff were so friendly and warm welcoming. They seated us in the back area, which we requested because of the beautiful NYC views. It was just a very enjoyable well rounded meal and experience. Also the Happy Birthday at the end was beautiful. We will absolutely be coming back for a date night !

Loved our quick visit to this spot! Very polished and upscale setting, but also feels comfy and cozy for dinner with friends and family. We are vegan and we had plenty of options to choose from. The stuffed grape leaves were perfect. The small sampler appetizer was great and came with wonderful Turkish bread. The service was good as well. Can't wait to go back and try more of their veg options!

As we walked in, it wasn't too busy, we got a table right away. The interior looked super pretty with brick wall background, tables and booths for dining indoor. They had outdoor seating available too. The menu had lots of interesting Mediterranean dishes. We started with the grilled octopus that had delicious seasoning with mix of olive oil and red wine vinegar. The complimentary bread was fluffy, accompanied perfectly with the octopus. The branzino was a flavorful filet, well cooked. The side of spinach was well made too. I loved the lamb kokinisto (from specials menu). The meat was so tender and the sauce was incredible. I just kept taking bites and eventually finished the whole bowl. At the end I took the rice pudding to go and loved the taste of it. Our server Stephen was super nice, paid full attention to all his tables. He told us about the specials of the day from which I actually found out about lamb kokinisto. The appetizers came out quickly but the entree took some time since we had ordered branzino and lamb. They add 3% surcharge for credit card, so take cash if you want to avoid the extra fee. But overall a solid place to enjoy excellent Mediterranean food.

To top it off I also got fried calamari, it was a little bit chewy overall still had flavor to it. My go to drink was a mint lemonade that they make it into a slushie. We had a large group, and they seated us at 2 separate and crowded tables in the side room, which was less than ideal (with a reservation). It also got really hot because the room was packed. They were pushing us to order everything family style, but everyone wanted to order individually. The two of us weren't super hungry, and asked for our entrees to be on a separate check before ordering, which they would not do. Since I knew we were going to end up splitting the check with the one table, I ended up getting a more expensive entree to make up for the apps and drinks we weren't having (I already had a drink from the bar and my husband doesn't drink). I settled on the special lobster carbonara (which I think was $75). Good, but overpriced. My husband had the filet mignon - it was cooked as requested but we prefer more seasoning. A friend passed her grilled scallops over to us to finish - I took one bite and it tasted like ammonia. I discreetly spat it out. For her sake, I hope the rest didn't taste like that. The atmosphere was loud and hard to have conversations. They did a conga line around the restaurant later in the evening. Not really my scene. Service was slow and it didn't seem like they could handle big groups, even when split up. We ended up staying here for about 3 hours. We ended up leaving before we were even offered dessert. Also, keep in mind they have valet parking.

We preferred these over the chicken kebab, which were just as flavorful but quite a bit drier. My advice with the hot sauce: get a packet on the side so you can control the heat. That sauce is powerful. I don't know if there are spice ghosts in it but it can be too much. Boo. The rice can be hit or miss depending on the time of day. When it's busy and fresh, it's great. Later at night, the leftover rice can be a little dry. I recommend getting the food to go. What started as a single…read morefood cart at W. 53rd & 6th Ave. in 1990 has become the most recognized name in halal street food, serving up yellow rice platters piled with chicken, gyro, or falafel, topped with the indispensable "red & white" sauces, natch. It's quick, affordable, and iconic. If you've had the cart version - very likely during a lunchtime rush eagerly awaiting a fresh hot-off-the-grill platter while standing in line with salivating hunger, or stumbling around NYC streets late at night in a state of cheerful inebriation - you probably won't be able to retrieve the same satisfaction from the limbic recesses of your brain, as that particular alchemy of anticipation, irresistible street food scent, and a dash of city chaos is not something that can be bottled in a more domesticated experience. So no, the franchise concept into a fast-casual sit-in restaurant won't replicate the Halal Guys of your memory. But what you do get is a more dignified dining experience involving tables, chairs, and climate control. It's the food cart equivalent of realizing one actually appreciates concert venues with seats. Not saying the GA floor pit wasn't fun, but having crossed over into comfortable suburbanite territory, I've made peace with my lack of desire to stand in long lines or eat my food sitting on a curb. We came here after shopping at the Costco located in the same plaza, and ordered a chicken platter, beef gyro platter, waffle fries, and a mango citrus refresher. The meat was a touch cold and the protein portion leans modest, but it was non-greasy, and piled with the salad fixin's and pita bread, made for a balanced and filling meal. The waffle fries are amazing! Perfectly crispy on the outside and pillowy on the inside, and a good size for the price. And the hot sauce is legitimately spicy (bless!), so get it on the side if you want to moderate the heat level I had no idea Halal Guys grew into a restaurant franchise from its humble street cart days and am glad to know about this place!
