Very interesting experience. The lady met us by the doorway; we were ordering take out so she showed us her iPad with pictures of the items they carried. We couldn't go inside so we waited outside. She brought the item in plates but noticed they were to go, so repacked them. The food was okay. We got two medium platters with gyro, and a plain chicken pita. Tried Smyrna out for the first time, after driving past it a couple of times. Called for a pickup order at around 7 PM on a Saturday. I ordered two Beef and Lamb Gyro XL Platters (beef and lamb gyro (double meat), rice, pita, salad, french fries, hummus, tzatziki and the Beef and Lamb Gyro Pita (beef and lamb, lettuce, tomato, onion, french fries, tzatziki). I really, really wanted to like this place. They give generous portions and the food is very fairly priced. And it actually tasted pretty good. Until I found a hair in one of my last bites of pita. I understand this happens but it is just such a turn off and pet peeve of mine. Up until then, I was enjoying my pita. It had lots of meat, and even had French fries inside (what a nice touch!). But it is very oily so it's a cheat meal. Any lettuce that was inside the pita had soaked up all the oil into a soggy mess. Also brings me to my next point - best to eat it immediately because the sauce and oil does make the pita soggy. However, I would not recommend dining in because they do not have AC - even on a 90 degree day. That did make me wonder about the food safety in such high temperatures. There's also a credit card fee, so keep that in mind. I'm not sure if I'll be back because of the hair. I had been meaning to visit Smyrna Gyro since it's close to home. I finally took a walk over on a sunny afternoon. It was nice out, so we took seats at the picnic table they had outside. The waitress/owner? brought us menus and took our order shortly after. I went with the lamb and beef gyro with fries and a Greek salad. It comes with a can of soda, and it was only $12.99! The Greek salad was amazing. It was very substantial, with few leafy vegetables, but plenty of olives, bell pepper, onions, tomato and feta. The gyro was great. It was stuffed with a well seasoned gyro meat, lettuce, tomatoes, onion, and tzatziki. They were also nice enough to give us some complimentary lemonade. It was probably the best lemonade I've had. this was by far the worse experience I have had with any restaurant in a very long time. I have a short lunch so being proactive, I pre-ordered our food. I selected a time of 12:00 as we planned to arrive then. when we got to the restaurant it was completely empty. we were informed that the rest room was out of order. Not that we needed it, but they should not be allowed to be open with it broken. I told the woman that we had placed an online order and she seemed confused but looked it up and said yes I see it. I told her I had a short lunch. 10 mins later we still had no food. when I questioned the man, he said "well your order is for 12:15 and immediately started arguing with me. A better way would be to say I'm sorry we will get your food right out, but no he asked me if I understood English, and waived the phone around. It's more like 4.5 stars. Food tastes fresh. Small place but offers inside and outside seating. There are parking spaces next to the business in a small lot. There is street parking as well. The owners are very pleasant. They offer variations of food offered and show you on a large tablet. Will try and go back and try more of what they offer. Once again....food is fresh. I have lived in Wallington for 2 years and kept wanting to try this place. It was a rainy Saturday and I was greeted by a lovely woman who smiled and jumped to take my order. The place is painted in blue and white with lacey curtains. Makes you feel like you're in your Grandmothers kitchen. This is a tough review to write. The food was good. The lady working the counter was polite. And ... the guy working the grill was a total jerk and he made sure I never go back to this place again. We ordered pickup and the app said 10-15 mins. So we show up around 20 mins and the lady informs us that the food is not ready. Before I can say anything, suddenly the guy yells "you are early". I tell him it's no big deal and it's the weekend so I'm in no rush. That wasn't enough apparently because he kept going on about the app being wrong and nobody should pay attention to the app and he should have time to cook and...blah blah blah. The poor lady standing there just kept her eyes down and didn't say a word. I finally tell him that I'm ok waiting and he goes "you can't wait inside, this is for takeout". I had the extra large chicken platter, which came with a yummy Greek salad, french fries, rice, hummus, and two delicious sauces on top of the chicken. Was I wrong, had the Gyro meat on top of a very bad salad which had sliced green olive, no nice Greek black olives or the stuffed spinach which usually comes with a Greek salad. Gyro meat was of poor quality and I made the mistake of asking for a spinach pie, the worst greasy pie I have ever tried. The best part of my visit here was the nice waitress who could not give me a regular fork due to the Health Department not allowing metal forks due to COVID. Had to eat this lousy food with a small plastic fork. BTW there was a nasty old women who made me sit outside because the small dining section was closed. Should have left I would have saved $38.00.
