Persian Cuisine serving great dishes with tasty halal meat. With three locations in New Jersey located in Ridgewood, Cliffside Park and Rutherford. We visited the Rutherford location and it's a low key environment to grab a quick bite or perfect for takeout. Great service with one waiter handling a lot. Street parking available but super busy so it took awhile to find parking.

We'd come here more than a year back and somehow ended up back here without intending to (reminder to self to review places sooner). Complimentary bread (warm, flakey and must be generously topped with butter for optimum enjoyment + also add more than a dash of sumac that's on the table because everything tastes better with sumac). Of course we had to get one more (and they didn't charge us for it). The hot tea was warming and everything I needed in this weather. We had barely gotten over marveling the bread when came our order - kabob combo for one (I wasn't planning to eat initially, lol). We got half skewer of chicken (very very juicy and delicious), half skewer of lamb (also very good) and Koobideh (most certainly their star). The basic basmati rice is probably the best but we also got the barberry rice (slight tinge of sourness which I loved). The lady serving us was very, very patient with our questions as well - what YouTube cooking channel was playing, what brand of sumac they used etc etc. Probably going to become our go-to place whenever are in the area.

My love for Persian food developed while visiting the West Coast. It's been hard to find many spots in the Northeast that serve Persian food that's even comparable to what you get in the West Coast. My friend and I found this spot nearby in North Jersey, and we had to give it a try. We stoped in on a Friday evening to a fairly busy restaurant. The owner acknowledged and greeted us immediately. The dining style is pretty casual where customers can sit at any open table. We were very glad to find Tahdig on the menu, since my friend had been wanting to try it for a while. The owner took our appetizer and entree orders promptly after bringing over some fresh bread. He was the only employee waiting all of the tables, and he did managed to provide excellent service. Our Tahdig came out first, topped with our choice of Gheimeh (beef and split pea stewed in tomato sauce). This my first time trying stew on top of Tahdig, and I was surprised at how well it complemented the dish. The crispy rice was cooked to perfection as well; the Tahdig far exceeded our expectations. The entrees came out shortly after the appetizer. My friend and I both ordered the Kabob Soltani, which comes with one skewer of Beef Kabob and one of Koobideh. Every component of the meal was perfect. The meat was flavorful and cooked to perfection. The Saffron Basmati came very close to what I've had on the West Coast. Even the salad veggies were perfectly fresh and crispy. We had an exceptional dining experience with excellent food quality and great service. Even though Kabob On The Cliff is quite a drive for both me and my friend, we'll definitely be back soon.

Great Persian restaurant in Rutherford. Casual interior . No liquor. Has lunch menu. Enjoyed my lamb and beg kabobs. Good Baklava for dessert. Excellent service.

This restaurant was amazing! The staff was super friendly. The food was flavorful and fresh. The ambiance was nice and relaxing. We were a big group, if I remember correctly a party of 13. With a party that big I was surprised how well they handle the orders and everything. Would come here again.

Found this on yelp and we went for dinner here, the irani lady who is the host and serves the food as well, was really good and explained everything about food. We got a hot eggplant dish tgat was served with really good fresh bread.. this dish was so delicious and comforting.. we had taken wine with us and enjoyed this dish, for main course i got chicken sultana .. the kebabs here are one of the best, soft and juicy.. they serve it with special irani rice which had small berries in it with some saffron flavored rice as well. .. loved the food and hospitality .. baklava was good too! I would be happy if they had more vegetarian options in main course, as my husband doesn't eat meats. Their falafel sandwich was fine, my husband said he has had better ones

    Complimentary bread.

Ordered: Kabob Combo for One (~$22): Half skewer Chicken/Beef and 1 skewer Koobideh with Half Rice/Half Salad (+$1) Kabob Combo for One (~$22): Chicken/Lamb and 1 skewer Koobideh with Half Rice/Half Salad (+$1) Diet Coke Can (~$2) Aya's take: We were in the area and decided to stop by for dinner before heading back. We were seated by 5:30pm and the restaurant was relatively empty. We ordered pretty quickly...and then waited, for a whole hour, yes, ONE HOUR, for our food. Every so often we would check up on our orders and they would say "it's coming". It was very frustrating considering we were only waiting on 2 plates. There was no apology or offer to make up for this inconvenience. It was only when we went up to pay that we were told there was a big order and they prioritized that (over those dining in, apparently). The food itself is a solid 4/5. The meats are all tender and buttery, although portion-wise, it is lacking a bit. The basmati rice and Shirazi salad were pretty average; what would you expect at any Persian place. The wait-time with no regard to our time was the biggest turnoff.

The service is very attentive. Right when we sat down the host gave us water which was nice. The waiter was a little too attentive, kept coming up to us to ask if we were ready to order when we were not, and just kept coming and coming every two minutes. They give complimentary flat bread which is tasty. Our Persian friend mentioned usually Persian restaurants give the bread with herbs and feta rather than just plain. We did find on the menu the herbs and feta was an extra cost. We had the kebab combo and subbed cherry rice and salad (which is cucumbers and tomatoes) and also exchanged the ground chicken kebab for a chicken breast kebab. The standout was the steak kebab and the cherry rice. There were so many cherries in the rice, and it was both sweet and savory. I couldn't stop eating it. The steak was super juicy and well seasoned. I also really like the roasted tomato on the side, basil and pickled cabbage. We ordered a stew, think it was Ghormeh sabzi. It had a bunch of herbs in it, and beans and a dried lime. Was told not to eat the lime. It was a very strong and rich stew, I took a couple of bites. Don't think I could have eaten the whole thing. It's very strong. It's our friend's favorite Persian dish and she loved it. There was one dish we wanted that they ran out of but they gave us a couple of dollars off the bill which was nice. Overall excellent food! Would come back.

The stuffed feta dates were the good balance of sweet and savory, and the eggplant dip was incredibly smooth and rich without feeling heavy. A little extra seasoning could go a long way with the dip! For mains, the salmon was beautifully cooked and well-seasoned, and the lamb shank was a standout--tender, deeply flavorful, and comforting in the best way. The falafel had a great crisp on the outside while staying soft inside. You can really tell they put care into each dish. What made the night extra special was the birthday surprise: the sweetest baklava presentation that felt so warm and personal. It was such a thoughtful touch. We also ended the night with cappuccinos, hot chocolate, and an affogato (not pictured), which were the perfect cozy finish. Overall, Shiraz Kitchen strikes a great balance between elevated and welcoming. It's the kind of place that feels just as right for a celebration as it does for a relaxed dinner. Turkish cuisine is a unique combination of flavors, spices, and herbs developed over thousands of years, influenced by the Central Asian nomads and Arabic, Persian, Italian, French, and Eastern European cultures. While New York has some great Turkish food if one knows where to look, most of it leaves some room for improvement. Could Jersey be better? The town of Carlstadt has mainly residential private homes, with a spattering of condos and garden apartments. The main shopping area is all of about three blocks long on both sides of the street. Translated from the Turkish language, meaning sultan, we have come to this family-owned/family-run establishment located on Hackensack Street since 2006 for Saturday dinner. The reservation was easily made by Google Assistant. Upon entering this hidden gem called Hünkar Restaurant as first-timers, my partner, our friends, and I were greeted by the staff inside a cozy room, where ethnic pictures and decorations as well as the music all add to the vibe. A great view of the NYC skyline is visible from their enclosed back patio. Their menu features Mediterranean and Turkish cuisine with a modern twist and serves alcohol. As an appetizer, we decided on the Kibbeh (Icli Kofte), Calamari (Kalamar), and Cigarette Borek (Sigara Boregi). For our main meal, we opted for Chicken Saute (Taouk Sote), Shrimp Kebab, Lamb Shish Kebab (Kuzu Sis Kebab), and Chicken Shish Kebab (Tavuk Kebab). All Kebab meal accompanied by rice, char-grilled tomatoes, peppers, and a small salad. Warm, fluffy pida bread with a crisp crust started our meal. Every dish bursts with authentic flavor and is beautifully presented, from the fact that Turkish families from all over the area eat here. The staff is warm, welcoming, and very professional; our server was Akincan "John," the owners' son. The price was comparable to the area with the right portion. We can recommend this place.

Amazing flavor!!! -I chose the Fesenjan because it contains ingredients like pomegranate and walnuts--it sounded really interesting. The order comes with Basmati rice. The star of the dish is a chicken leg--apparently slow-cooked for hours--which was truly delicious; the flavor wasn't spicy or overly spiced, but a balance of sweet and savory--leaning more towards sweet--and it was aromatic and tender.
