This was my first time trying this restaurant and my first time eating Iranian food. I don't know what else to say except I felt I had a bit of a religious experience. I have never eating such delicious food in my whole life. I am angry at myself that it has taken me this long to experience all of the flavors Iran has to offer. My husband and I are already trying to figure out when we are able to return. What an incredible meal. read more

If it's located on Park Ave you know there's going to be issues with parking and pricing. (Am I the only one that always seems to find the parking meter that isn't working correctly?!) Crankiness aside... the fam decided to step outside of our comfort zone and try Persian food for the very first time. The restaurant - looks great inside (I've passed this place countless times over the years and don't think I even peeked inside). The gal behind the counter - could not be any nicer. The food - delicious, packed with flavor. My kids were baffled how proteins they're used to eating (beef, chicken) could taste so differently thanks to unique spices and whatnot. The meal came to about $20 per person (no drinks, just the entrée) and while the 'Kabob Koobideh' was a generous portion, the falafel sandwich (for $15) is wildly overpriced (it's about $10 from Greek Town right across the street, never mind about $8 from Mamoun's just about two minutes away over on Rt. 17N). Happy to have tried it, would come back (while grumbling about the cost under my breath because I'm a crabby old man). read more

Was here on a pretty early Saturday night for a quick dinner. There was one person helping the whole place, which wasn't packed, but seemed like a lot of work for only one person. We were seated for about 15 mins before she came over to bring us waters and then had to wait a little bit more before she took our orders. Our waitress was friendly and sweet and really couldn't say anything terrible even with the wait. She was definitely doing her best and she was great. My food was delicious. Loved the rice (added me some Sumac on top) and the shrimp was delicious. I loved the salad that it came with but a little too much onion for my taste, but overall really good. My husband housed his food so needless to say- he enjoyed it. I don't know that I'd come back here to sit down and eat, probably order take out if I was in the area again and craving this! Overall my experience was fine! read more

I have to tell you, it is absolutely delicious. From the kebabs to stews I love their food. I have ordered take out a bunch and come into the lovely restaurant. The quality and flavor of the meat is quite delectable. Never had any complaints. Even their mixed grill hits the spot with a little heat too. The waitress was kind as well. read more

Persian Cuisine serving great dishes with tasty halal meat. With three locations in New Jersey located in Ridgewood, Cliffside Park and Rutherford. We visited the Rutherford location and it's a low key environment to grab a quick bite or perfect for takeout. Great service with one waiter handling a lot. The food was great, the service could've been better. But overall I would recommend this place for Turkish food.

My family lives in town and whenever we visit I always want to order from here. The staff are very, very welcoming. The food is sooooo fresh and delicious. The portion sizes are great and we always have leftovers for the next day. Price is fair given the amount of the food & quality. I havent dined in yet but I look forward to in the future! read more

I understand property rent is expensive every where but $20 for one skewer of chicken kabob breast and half a tomato, is upsetting They cut a small tomato in half and can only afford to spare half in your meal? You have got to be kidding! For $20 the least you can do is give me both halves of the tomato. Was the food good, yes but is it worth $20 if they are going to be that selfish, no. read more

We'd come here more than a year back and somehow ended up back here without intending to (reminder to self to review places sooner). Complimentary bread (warm, flakey and must be generously topped with butter for optimum enjoyment + also add more than a dash of sumac that's on the table because everything tastes better with sumac). Of course we had to get one more (and they didn't charge us for it). The hot tea was warming and everything I needed in this weather. We had barely gotten over marveling the bread when came our order - kabob combo for one (I wasn't planning to eat initially, lol). We got half skewer of chicken (very very juicy and delicious), half skewer of lamb (also very good) and Koobideh (most certainly their star). The basic basmati rice is probably the best but we also got the barberry rice (slight tinge of sourness which I loved). The lady serving us was very, very patient with our questions as well - what YouTube cooking channel was playing, what brand of sumac they used etc etc. Probably going to become our go-to place whenever are in the area. read more

My love for Persian food developed while visiting the West Coast. It's been hard to find many spots in the Northeast that serve Persian food that's even comparable to what you get in the West Coast. My friend and I found this spot nearby in North Jersey, and we had to give it a try. We stoped in on a Friday evening to a fairly busy restaurant. The owner acknowledged and greeted us immediately. The dining style is pretty casual where customers can sit at any open table. We were very glad to find Tahdig on the menu, since my friend had been wanting to try it for a while. The owner took our appetizer and entree orders promptly after bringing over some fresh bread. He was the only employee waiting all of the tables, and he did managed to provide excellent service. Our Tahdig came out first, topped with our choice of Gheimeh (beef and split pea stewed in tomato sauce). This my first time trying stew on top of Tahdig, and I was surprised at how well it complemented the dish. The crispy rice was cooked to perfection as well; the Tahdig far exceeded our expectations. The entrees came out shortly after the appetizer. My friend and I both ordered the Kabob Soltani, which comes with one skewer of Beef Kabob and one of Koobideh. Every component of the meal was perfect. The meat was flavorful and cooked to perfection. The Saffron Basmati came very close to what I've had on the West Coast. Even the salad veggies were perfectly fresh and crispy. We had an exceptional dining experience with excellent food quality and great service. Even though Kabob On The Cliff is quite a drive for both me and my friend, we'll definitely be back soon. read more

Found this on yelp and we went for dinner here, the irani lady who is the host and serves the food as well, was really good and explained everything about food. We got a hot eggplant dish tgat was served with really good fresh bread.. this dish was so delicious and comforting.. we had taken wine with us and enjoyed this dish, for main course i got chicken sultana .. the kebabs here are one of the best, soft and juicy.. they serve it with special irani rice which had small berries in it with some saffron flavored rice as well. .. loved the food and hospitality .. baklava was good too! I would be happy if they had more vegetarian options in main course, as my husband doesn't eat meats. Their falafel sandwich was fine, my husband said he has had better ones read more

Ordered: Kabob Combo for One (~$22): Half skewer Chicken/Beef and 1 skewer Koobideh with Half Rice/Half Salad (+$1) Kabob Combo for One (~$22): Chicken/Lamb and 1 skewer Koobideh with Half Rice/Half Salad (+$1) Diet Coke Can (~$2) Aya's take: We were in the area and decided to stop by for dinner before heading back. We were seated by 5:30pm and the restaurant was relatively empty. We ordered pretty quickly...and then waited, for a whole hour, yes, ONE HOUR, for our food. Every so often we would check up on our orders and they would say "it's coming". It was very frustrating considering we were only waiting on 2 plates. There was no apology or offer to make up for this inconvenience. It was only when we went up to pay that we were told there was a big order and they prioritized that (over those dining in, apparently). The food itself is a solid 4/5. The meats are all tender and buttery, although portion-wise, it is lacking a bit. The basmati rice and Shirazi salad were pretty average; what would you expect at any Persian place. The wait-time with no regard to our time was the biggest turnoff. read more

We went outside the box on this one and tried this small establishment in the heart of busy Rutherford. Going in, I wasn't sure what to expect. I'm up for anything but I was probably more concerned with my wife's experience being that she not as open to new types of foods. Parking can be a little rough. There's street parking only on a very busy downtown main drag. Luckily, I found a spot directly across the street. I had ordered ahead of time via their website. As I walked in, I saw there are tables for one to dine in a well. Service was excellent. The woman working there was very efficient and our food was just about ready once I got there. We began with a few appetizers as I need to get the full experience. We started with the falafel, hummus and pickles. The falafel didn't grab me but didn't deter me. It was just ok. The hummus was great. I absolutely loved it. The pickles were good too. Not sure if this is a Persian specialty, but I love pickles so had to get an order. I got the kabob combo for one which came with chicken, Lamb and kabob koobideh (which yes, I had to Google to see what it was). This combo was more then enough for one person. I got the albalo polo rice which had sour cherries in it. Everything was excellent. My wife just got the chicken kabob with rice and she said it was very good. Even our youngest gave a piece of chicken a shot and he gave it a thumbs up. I'm so glad we went outside the box to try this little gem. Definitely a place that will be on our radar when we're looking for something different. read more

Got takeout here and it was really good. The salmon and chicken kebobs were both grilled to perfection and nicely seasoned. Also got 2 soups, a lentil and a barley and both hit the spot on a cold night. Ordered online and pickup was problem and contact free. The restaurant itself is really clean and the masked girl at the counter was very friendly. I liked this place enough to come back another time. This is a no-frills kind of place but I remember specifically asking about the fireplace by the TV because I kinda want to get one for myself. Love the Beef 'Barg', would have loved the koobideh (thankfully my partner let me have a taste of his dish ) even more. That will be my go to order. The chicken was a bit dry, although I'm realizing I might not actually like chicken anymore. The lady managing the restaurant was very warm both times we visited. She's patient enough to explain the menu for people who are unfamiliar with the cuisine. Will come back to this place when we're back in the area! read more

It was a very good decision today to visit this delicious Iranian spot. Faraz and the chef(a) at Kabob provided us with an amazing experience and definitely one of the most unexpected meals I have had in a while. Food: we decided To get hummus as an appetizer which was not only savory, but the Turkish bread that came with it was excellent. The chicken kebab that I ordered was both juicy and flavorful, with the basmati rice adding a great texture to the meal. The white sauce and hot sauce were all so unexpectedly good. The lamb that my father got was exceptional. We were beyond satisfied. Service: Faraz was very kind and answered a lot of questions about the food and we talked in general. Above and beyond. Aesthetic: Very clean place. Modern look with nice wall decor. Simple. read more

While there are few Iranian spots in NJ worth praising, I'm sad to say this place is not one of them. Food is wildly inconsistent which is troubling when you want a home style meal. Service is left to be desired given the short staff. You want to feel welcomed when you're trying Persian food and KotC does not deliver on that belief especially after many years as a patron. Avoid the haleem at all cost! read more

Usually this is our go to spot, lately they've been slacking but today hit the nail on the head and we will never return to this location again. A few weeks back my husband and I ate at this restaurant and he had the chicken kabob and I had the shrimp, mind you we go quite often and haven't had any major issues. My husbands chicken came out pink and squishy (raw) and my shrimp was raw. We did send our food back because it was completely inedible. The next few times we went the food was alright, not bad but not great, (maybe new cooks? Idk) BUT this time (our absolute last time), I ordered the shrimp kabob and my husband ordered the chicken kabob (like usual) and the shrimp was literally rock hard. Couldn't cut through it so really it was bad and had a really strong fishy smell. I said to the lady (the same lady who's there every weekend) that it wasn't right, overcooked and inedible and she had some sort of attitude talking about how it's well done. Now well done and burnt to the point it is inedible are two separate things, I didn't ask for well done, I just asked for it to be cooked and not raw. After some conversation back and forth she brought out a new order, which this time was still a little over cooked but it was edible, so I ate it and we asked for the check. The check came and she charged twice for the shrimp when the first order was not eaten. I mentioned to her and she got extremely nasty and said she didn't have time for this and it is what it is. So I asked to speak to the manager or the owner or who ever was there, and she got even nastier and said no they don't want to talk, and demanded us to just pay the bill. Now it could have gone one of two ways, we could have just walked out and not paid at all, or just sucked it up and paid like we ended up doing. Long story short, we didn't want to make a scene so we just paid the bill, which in my opinion is completely wrong on their end, the customer service was terrible, and the disrespect was totally unnecessary. A place that once was our go to is now a place we will never step foot in again. 0/10 would not recommend. read more

I was dying for some hummus and bread so I tried this place out. If you do a yelp check in you can get a free Persian tea and baklava :) FYI I really love that they serve the sesame bread instead of your normal pita bread with the hummus. Ordered the appetizer trio - eggplant dip, hummus, and falafel. So I didn't think the hummus was amazing. It's better than store bought but it was a bit to "chunky" for me and had a slight aftertaste. I love homemade hummus but something was a little off. The eggplant dip was also not a fave for me either. I did like the falafel with the white sauce. For my entree I tried the chicken kabob and rice. The chicken was very flavorful, juicy, and really made the dish. The rice was also cooked perfectly just a little bland. I'm used to going to Moby dicks at home and they have a slight lemon buttery flavor to the rice so I'm a little biased lol. But overall great place. read more

Persian....in Jersey? This California girl was happily surprised by the (relatively) new addition to Park Ave. True, they don't have enough people who order stews like gheimeh bademjan to keep one vegetarian and one regular batch on the stove - most of the folks who come here want something more familiar like kebabs. BUT I can stand up for the ash reshteh soup (lentils, vegetables, yogurt and noodles), which is extremely very delicious and a huge portion at a good price. I'm not sure what to say about the shirazi - for a to-go order it had no flavor at first, but then I realized it was undressed. They gave me several different dressing containers (one oil, one blackish, then some others), and I wasn't sure what I was supposed to put on it. It might be ok once it's dressed the way they want it. The baghali polo (rice with dill and fava beans) was also really yummy - a hefty portion for under $4. When I'm in this 'hood, I look forward to returning! (oh - with yelp check-in you're supposed to get a free baklava. It was the teeniest baklava piece - but my friend who I gave it to enjoyed it!) read more
