Love this spot so much! Came here on the way back from Nyack and got a table outside. Delicious homemade pastas made with love. Adored the mushroom-sage-butter homemade tagliatelle the most, though the lasagna was pretty good, very meaty. The desserts are off-the-charts! So tasty and creative. Loved the pavlova with strawberry sorbet and the rich pistachio ice cream. Delicious warm bread basket with sun-dried tomato butter, too. Shoutout to Ana who is so warm and had great recommendations, welcome to us and our dog! We even made friends with another diner at the restaurant and hung out together on the rainy night. Telling everybody about this place. 5 stars!!!

Appetizer on special: baked pears, burrata, prosciutto and more: fabulous

Our first visit--very impressed! All the dishes were delicious and beautifully presented, wine was very good, Service very attentive. We liked how they keep the menu small in order to have everything freshly prepared. Pictured is the special appetizer which was to die for. We will be back again soon!

Absolutely amazing and I cannot recommend more. Right in the heart of Irvington, Mambo Italiano is a beautiful Italian caffe/dinner spot. They make everything in-house, and boy is it good! I have dined both for lunch and dinner, and neither disappointed. It's a small, friendly staff, and they cultivate a family-like vibe. The restaurant is warm and inviting. Despite how good it is, I have never struggled to get a table (as someone who hates waiting that is a huge plus for me). Their menu is the perfect length, and you just cannot go wrong. We were greeted with fresh bread, and a delicious butter with some sort of pepper or cheesy mix-in. Tonight, our table enjoyed the fettuccine, orecchiette, and the braised pork -- all of which were fabulous. The portions are fairly big, too, so we got a second meal out of it! I paired my meal with their sangria, which is a white wine sangria. Not what I was expecting but I really enjoyed it. Very light and fruity. After dinner we enjoyed their cheesecake, which is rich yet fluffy and comes with a sort of a thin berry compote/jelly layer on top. We also had a homemade pistachio gelato. I believe it is a special this week, so get it while you still can! Seriously, I've never understood the hype behind pistachio ice cream but this was to die for. I would've purchased a whole tub. We were taken care of by both the server and who I believe to be the owner, though possibly she is just a manager. I felt truly cared for as a guest and attended to. It was a beautiful experience. The pricing is not cheap, necessarily, but I'd be happy to pay more even for the quality of the ingredients, cooking, dining atmosphere, and service. My only note is I would've loved a few craft cocktail options! But I didn't feel at all like they were lacking without it.

I could start by writing about how I met Mambo Italiano's owner, but I'll veered off too much. But do know, the lady behind the name is Danielle Berarducci- a no-nonsense, firecracker who is clever in her own right when it comes to homemade breads, desserts, go-getter attitude, of course food and so much more. Located on Main St. in Irvington, NY, she and her business partner, Ana- who has Italian roots, took up the previous That Family Feeling Shop and turned Mambo into a comfy, sit-back, friendly restaurant. The space has beige walls, wood notes and a black accent wall by their counter+stools. And can we talk about the playlist? It's a lot of 60s, 70s and 80s Soul and Funk. The kitchen side of the counter functions as their easy-to-reach area for their most used condiments such as their herbs, garlic and citrus. Two of my ex co-teachers and I came for dinner to unwind and catch up on a Friday before my winter recess break. She started us with a silky ricotta(?) and her homemade bread. And that olive oil. Geeez. Sublime. Another starter was a warm bread basket with like yeasty rolls and a delicious sun dried+ tomato+basil(?) butter. So gorgeous in the mouth with her homemade bread- we joked we wanted to take tankfuls of it home! Between my friend's salad with grilled chicken, my other friend's grilled salmon+sautéed spinach+ couscous and my candy-tasting roasted sweet potato topped with my fave green arugula and ricotta(?)- everything and I mean everything was delightful. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals to the fullest. I personally can't wait to return. The owner made her dream come true. She and her business partner and the server all work harmoniously and did not miss a beat. It's a gathering spot, a romantic spot if you want it to be or whatever the mood you're into, this is the spot.

Really enjoyed our time there. The lasagna was juicy and tasty, the escargot special was amazing, the pistachio ice cream was the best ice cream I've head in a while, very creamy, flavorful and not too sweet. We had a very attentive server who helped us make great food choices.

We arrived without a reservation on Friday night around 6pm. We were warmly greeted and told we had the options of sitting in the front of the restaurant on a cushioned area with a table in front of it or the bar the overlooks the kitchen. We opted for the bar seating since I love watching the show of the chefs work in the kitchen! We were presented with menus, told the specials and brought a basket of warm bread with whipped butter. This place isn't very big but such a cozy warm environment. The bread was great and the whipped butter had tasty herbs in it. We saw them making a chopped salad and thats the special my friend decided on as an app. I opted for the italian wedding soup. There was a nice wine list but we decided on just water which we were provided a large bottle of. I LOVED watching them cook in the kitchen. One of the owners was the woman who greeted us and the other was the chef in the kitchen. There was two other men working with them and they all ran the place like a well oiled machine! The soup was fantastic and the meatballs so tender. The special chopped salad had a maple vinaigrette that was so delicious and different! It was hard to decide on a main after watching them cook them all but I decided on the lasagna and my friend decided on the fettuccine. I was told all of the pasta is homemade and cooked fresh. The lasagna was one of the best Ive ever had and it came out so quickly! The lasagna meat and noodles melted in the mouth and the sauce was perfectly sweet. The fettuccine also came out quickly and despite my friend being hesitant about anchovies it was not very strong in the sauce and she enjoyed it. I only finished half the lasagna as I wanted to try the apple cider donut for dessert. I was told by the owner chef the other owner who greeted us at the beginning makes all of the desserts as well. I saw the entire pan of fresh tiramisu, bundt shaped donuts warmed and served with ice cream and they had a blueberry ricotta cheesecake and 2 flavors of gelato. I was excited for the apple cider donut! The donut had so much apple cider flavor and perfectly warm. They dont make the vanilla ice cream but it was so creamy and paired perfectly with the donut. I was in a food coma as we prepared to leave and will definitely be back to work my way through the rest of the menu!

Delicious food, exceptional and very personal service. I had the lasagna and it was fantastic. Not an abundance of seating, but that is part of what makes this restaurant. Definitely recommend if you are in the area.

But since we wrapped up with errands in the area, Scaramella's was it. Located in a mini strip mall in Dobbs Ferry, Scaramella's is very old-school- but with a splash of class and then some. Once you pass the foyer, their bar area greets you followed by their large dining room. At about 5pm on a Saturday, you can be seated with no issues. Any time after that, folks start piling up. Our server Anne Marie was no bull-shitter; got to the chase when she gave me a hush-hush tip on a Pear Salad I was eyeing. She's my girl alright. Our appetizers, were plentiful and tasty. Forget our main plates- because if you think you'll be getting a polite portion of pasta or any meal at that- think again. I honestly don't know if hub's spinach pasta was homemade- but that sucker was good. My $40 Swordfish+fresh carrots with an unexpected corn+ spinach medley, was tasty and abundant. Actually, I had leftovers. Can I also mention that these folks don't play around with their pours because my Lemon Drop was potent! Listen, I don't care that Scaramella's is located in strip mall or that my auntie-in-law didn't enjoy her meal years ago. From the looks of it, this place is happy-loud and has character. And no, it's not totally easy to park outside. That aside, our meals were satisfying, well-priced and the happy chaos, is all part of Scaramella's local charm.

The atmosphere was cozy, casual, and somewhat romantic. Service was quick and staff were friendly. But, I don't think staff were as knowledgeable about the menu. I asked for some recommendations and favorites re: the pasta dishes and they pretty much said everything was good. That's fine. Was just hoping for some sort of follow up (4 out of 5). Overall, had mixed feelings about the food: The smoked ricotta honey with grilled bread was okay. The grilled bread came with black char, which didn't work for me. Ricotta and honey are subtle flavors and the char quickly overpowered them. The bread was good, but I think it would've been better toasted, not charred/burnt. That way the nutty flavors from a toasted bread can complement the honey/ricotta better. For the price tag (18) on a simple starter, it was disappointing. (2 out of 5 stars) Crispy cauliflower. I will say the name of this dish was intriguing. Was it lightly battered and fried? When the dish came out, I was disappointed. There's no crisp. It had the texture of roasted cauliflower. The aioli had good flavor, but overall, this was something I've tried before for less than 16 dollars. Can't call something crispy when it's not. (2.5 out of 5 stars) Pastas made the night better. Tried the fettuccini nero (seafood) and one of the pasta celebration dishes, pappardelle with asparagus, lemon, Parmesan. Fettuccini nero was squid ink pasta with seafood. Had good, deep flavor. A bit too salty after the first few bites--the saltiness kind of lingered in your mouth. Wish there was a more seafood. Clams didn't come in their shells. Expected more visible lumps of crab meat and calamari. Other than the shrimp, the seafood bits were much smaller and reminded me of frozen mixed seafood packaging. (3 out of 5) I thought the pappardelle was very good. Good, balanced flavor. Not too salty. Good acid. Good crisp and change in texture from the breadcrumbs that came with the dish. It lacked the depth of flavor that the fettuccini nero had. I was told this was a white sauce dish, which made me think it was going to be more of a creamy dish, but it wasn't. Definitely more of a butter/oil based dish. Some creaminess from the Parmesan I guess. Anyways, I had a delicious first few bites. (4 out of 5)
