4.5 Recent visit to this restaurant in Chappaqua right next to the train station. Our reservation was honored on time and we were offered Al fresco dining on their outdoor patio in rear of the restaurant. In mid September this is a real bonus. The service was professional and top notch and the food was very good. We had chicken parm., pasta dishes- ravioli and one with sausage and broccoli rabe. Pricing was generally fair but some entrees such as the lamb chop were in the stratosphere. I don't need a $58 entree in my life :). The superstar of the evening was the peach dessert with ice cream-a simply outstanding dessert. It's a bit of a trip from where we live but I would go out of my way to return to this place again- and that says a lot. We saw Peter Kelly and management on the way out and they were warm and very personable. A real nice evening.

As always to dine at a Peter Kelly establishment is an experience; he us his brunches are done and his new place in Chappaqua is no exception located with in walking distance to the train plenty of street parking and a lovely area ...Basso has all the ingredients to be an all star place to dine enjoy . By the end of ridiculously underpriced brunch we were stuffed and happily ready to go home to plan a return visit. His steak was perfect short ribs amazing and his deserts just incredible. Thank you Peter for being you !

Very good Italian food awaits at this relaunched Chappaqua restaurant. Top Chef Peter Kelly is back. It's great to see him again. The restaurant was full on a Saturday night. We had good professional service at a leisurely pace. Those customers who need to get in and out in 90 minutes would have been frustrated, but those of us enjoying a nice cocktail and conversation found the pace of service just fine. Basso is cozy and warm, and the decor is very pretty - accentuated by shelves with wine bottles. The menu and specials are fairly standard Italian restaurant fare, but some items such as black ink pasta with assorted seafood (excellent), short ribs (super tender), duck confit appetizer and sea urchin pasta stood out. Baked clams at an adjacent table looked delicious. Calamari was fairly standard, Chicken parm was a giant portion and very tender and tasty. Lamb ragu pasta could have used more spice notes like mint or cumin. Pasta cooked perfectly. My black squid ink pasta was a top evening dish. Order it. Tiramisu dessert was off the charts. Beer was cold and wine (decent pour) fairly priced. In order to be five (5) star great, with so many Italian restaurants in Westchester the menu needs a little more Chef Kelly magic. He should feature those gourmet items he creates so well. He has served more than 20 years of magic meals for our family, I'm sure he will do it again. BTW: bring back the Christmas party with Ned and Mary Lou.

My family and I came to Basso by PXK for their Sunday brunch. It is kind of like dim sum style where servers come around with food that you can choose to eat or pass on. They started off strong with delicious pastas and frittata. But once we got to the proteins, we started to become disappointed. The salmon and pork shoulder were not good. The chicken parm was just okay. The desserts and starters were the star of the meal. And the servers were great! They brought over extras of our favorite bites, like the pastas.

    The Pannacotta is also delicious!!

I had never actually been to Southern Table, I had only ever had takeout from there once or twice,…read morebut I have been wanting to try it for ages and I have to say it was worth the wait. We went on Easter for brunch, which we decided to do last minute and they let us know they could squeeze us in. We sat on the screened in patio. They were massively busy, but the staff was on their toes, checking in, taking away empty plates, being very kind (even though they were clearly crazy with how busy they were). We started with the Brie stuff pretzels. They were more like pretzel sandwiches (pretzel sticks cut in half with Brie in between), but were really tasty. It was all so good, I kept forgetting to take pictures until after we had already dug in. The pretzel app came with 4 pretzel/brie sandwiches. We also got the spinach an artichoke dip. It came with a nice amount of chips (hate when they give you too few and then you're just left with gobs of dip and nothing for it). It also came with salsa and sour cream, which seemed odd, but was nice for the extra chips and also family friendly if the dip didn't appeal to kids. The dip itself was really nice, it didn't taste as rich as spinach and artichoke dips often are. I could really taste the spinach, but in a good way. Usually dips like that make me feel overly full and are so heavy, this was a refreshing take on it. We got the Dutch baby pancake, the kids Mac and cheese, the pimento cheese and ham omelet (which I got scrambled), chicken and waffles, and the hot honey chicken. Overall, the food was delicious. The flavors all had depth and were really satisfying. We came home with lots of leftovers and we were all very happy when the meal was done. We will definitely be going back.

I have been meaning to come here for a minute and finally found the opportunity last week…read more It was Wednesday in June. We were actually supposed to go on vacation but apocalyptic weather at our destination meant that every flight to that region was cancelled or severely delayed and ain't nobody got time for that so we decided to take a staycation instead. It felt only right to do the thing we would have done on vacation and go out for dinner. TBH we're old now so vacation or not, we eat on the earlier side of things. I think we went at around 5:30pm. Ample amount of seating available at that time. They have quite a large menu with many intriguing options. Unfortunately, only vegetarian main I recall was the mac and cheese. Instead, I settled on the santa fe salad for my main and GF the lettuce tacos for hers. The appetizer menu was particularly appetizing but we had to settle on two so we went with the spicy cauliflower and brie-stuffed pretzel. The spicy cauliflower was flavored aggressively, in a positive kind of way. The accompanying ranch brought everything together. You also can't go wrong with a brie stuffed pretzel. I don't typically like sweet in what is traditionally a savory flavor profile but the fig jam really added a welcome new dimension. Santa fe salad was gigantic. I actually was able to eat the rest of it for dinner on the following night. Absolutely loaded with goodies like avocado, corn, cheese, black beans, scallions, tomatoes. What a combo of flavors and textures in that thing. GF enjoyed all of the tacos except for nashville hot chicken but she isn't a big fan of chicken to begin with. I was especially impressed by their drink menu. They have a literal "smoked" menu which I could not pass up. I went with the southern smoke which is out of character for me because I typically don't get bourbon (for a reason...and i suffered later). This drink packed a fucking PUNCH. My goodness. There is no candy land bullshit juice drinks here, you definitely get your money's worth. There was a touch of a time period between when I finished my drink and was asked if I wanted another but at least they did ask. Ultimately a good experience. I do wish they had some vegetarian mains but if you aren't vegetarian and like southern food you would probably enjoy tremendously.

We hopped off the Saw Mill Parkway and made our way here. There is a private parking lot for the restaurant, which is very nice. It was a sunny day and they had the front patio open for dining, but we sat inside. Once inside, the sight of all the delicious food made me hungry so I ordered a cheesesteak panini and fries. My husband got a jajik sandwich and a chocolate tart. My sandwich was delicious and filling and the fries were very good. I had some of the chocolate tart also and that was really good. Soooo chocolatey. Lamentably, I forgot to take pictures of my food. I was so hungry and it looked so good I scarfed it down and only as I was wiping the crumbs out of my mustache did I realize I didn't get any photos. I guess I'm a bad Yelper. Oh well, that means I have to go back so I can take photos of my grub next time. And I do hope to go back. If you're in Pleasantville, you should stop by here. It's also very close to the train station if you're coming through on Metro North. The folks who work here are super nice as well.

The pics, reviews, and menu all seemed to point towards a yes - so off we went. Freddy's is located within the main commercial hub of Pleasantville. It's not a large restaurant, but holds a decent amount of seating with tasteful and laid-back decor. We were there right at opening at 4:30p, so it wasn't crowded but started filling up as time progressed. The menu is mostly American - arranged by apps, salads, entrees, sides, and desserts. I decided to start with the burrata which was served with diced butternut squash, brown butter, and grilled bread. This was...not what I was expecting. Burrata usually comes as an intact sphere that you cut open to reveal the soft cheese inside. This was already broken, and served in an almost deconstructed way. It honestly looks like a way to cut corners as it was definitely not a whole burrata. That, and the lack of flavor do not make it worth the $17 they charge. My main was better - I ordered the smoked chicken which was a breast on the bone and came with grits, spinach, and honey au jus. This was tasty - the chicken was juicy with crispy skin, and the au jus added a welcome sweetness to the grits and spinach. We opted for dessert because birthday - I chose the carrot cake which was just okay. No nuts, raisins, or noticeable carrots - so, a spice cake? As a side note, we were there during HV Restaurant week, however in lieu of a dedicated menu they offered a prix fixe app/entree/dessert off their menu. It sounded great at face value, but then we were told the portions would be smaller - and for items they couldn't shrink they up-charged if we ordered off the regular menu. IMO, not the best way to do restaurant week - either have a dedicated menu for it or don't participate at all. That being said, we decided to order off the regular menu. Service was good, everyone was friendly and food came out at a good pace. Overall, Freddy's sent me mixed signals - the food wasn't bad, but this isn't a place I would go out of way to try again - it's more of a local spot in my perspective. If circumstances found me here again, though, I wouldn't be mad.

I am vegetarian and while they have a bunch of veggie appetizers I was disappointed in the complete lack of any vegetarian entree. It's 2026. They have some creative cocktails, GF tried the margarita and liked it enough that she ordered a second. I ordered something with a cheeky name that I believe had vodka and something citrusy/floraly that I also enjoyed. Something kind of strange though, maybe 5-10 minutes after ordering our drinks, another person came over and said "the person who took your drinks didn't get the last 2 so what did you order?" People make mistakes, I get it. Idk how anyone remembers shit anyway but maybe write it down? Either way, it felt strange that someone else came over to say that. It just felt odd. Fortunately our drinks came but we had to flag someone down to order that second margarita later. I ordered the cauliflower and kale soup and the cauliflower fritters mainly because they were 2 of the very limited things I could order but the waiter was a little judge judy (cauliflower soup AND cauliflower fritters?) yes, my guy. The cauliflower and kale soup was under salted which I actually appreciate. I hate when anything is over-salted to the point of drowning out the other flavors. I am impressed by their confidence in the soup to NOT do that but it didn't really stand on its own and was a touch bland. The fritters, on the other hand, were sensational. That roasted beet aioli was delicious and the crispness of the outside of the fritters was a lovely texture. 3/4 of us got our food at least 5 minutes before the last person which is not ideal. Portions were also surprisingly small for the prices.
