I LOVE Greek food, so when I say this was supposed to be an easy win, I mean it. Greek food is easily in my top two cuisines. When I checked into my hotel, all three people at the front desk recommended the restaurant across the street. But me being me, I went with and my love for Greek food. I wish I would've listened. ‍ Everything on the menu sounded amazing... but of course it did. It's Greek! The waiter suggested the octopus and told me it was a large portion, so I should start with just one. Fine, I took his advice. I also wanted a Greek salad because, in my opinion, every meal needs a salad. Well... he took matters into his own hands and only put in the octopus. It arrived with a bang, beautiful presentation, looked absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, my taste buds didn't agree with the looks. It was just okay. About 20 minutes later, after noticing I wasn't really eating much of it, he came over and asked if I wanted him to put in the salad. Ummm... yes!!! That's what I ordered it!!! And I then asked him to add grilled shrimp too. He seemed a little irritated, which I honestly didn't understand. Listen, if I'm telling you I want to try multiple things, LET ME. Don't stop me from ordering what I want and then make me feel like I have to beg for the next dish. The Greek salad finally arrived... and it was also pretty meh. Where was the olive oil, lemon and oregano? Sometimes the basics really are the best. So, the verdict? Beautiful presentation, lots of potential, but the food just didn't live up to my expectations. I can't believe it took me this long to try Greca! I am part Greek so I try to check out all the Grecian/Mediterranean cuisine in the area. I made a reservation for my birthday brunch and they were very accommodating. We were sat immediately and majority of us ordered drinks. The Greca mule I had was very refreshing. One of my friends ordered the winter margarita and it was also very good. We decided to skip appetizers (which I need to come back for) and just ordered our own entrees. I have come here twice and both times it has been a great experience. I came recently for lunch and it was good. I ordered the burger with fries. The burger was well cooked and I really enjoyed. Greca in White Plains is an absolute MUST-TRY for any Greek food lover! I went my Greek best friend and she loved it as well! I stumbled upon this gem via TikTok and I'm so glad I did. The decor and the crowd were on point - modern and chic. The place including the restroom were clean. And the best part? Free valet parking across the street at The Ritz! You just need to show them the parking validation from the restaurant you get after your meal and honestly we forgot to but the valet people gave us no hassle, no stress which made the dining experience even more blissful. The restaurant staff were super helpful and attentive, making sure our drinks were filled and our stomachs were happy. Now, let's get to the food... The braised short rib was TO DIE FOR. I'm talking fall-apart tender, juicy, and flavorful - I didn't even need a knife! It was like butter, folks. However, I wished I would've tasted more feta in my feta-infused mashed potatoes. It tasted like regular mashed potatoes to me without the sharpness of the feta. My best friend told me to try Mastika which is her island's native liquor and the lady who served it to us was so happy to. A bit overpriced, a bit noisy, but excellent food and service. The olives and thin pita crackers brought to the table were a nice touch. I especially enjoyed my husband's imam bayildi (spelled incorrectly on the menu), the famous Turkish dish, here the eggplant shells topped with lots of onions and tomatoes and stuffed with silky puréed eggplant rather than the usual cubed. My grilled swordfish was a bit dry but tasty. The lemon potatoes were just OK, not as special as those at the Ardsley Diner. Came here on a Friday evening as a party of 4, we shared: the tartar (big portion size), the platter for 2 (which had a lot of lamb, and can readily feed 3-4 if you're ordering other apps/mains, but 3/4 diners do not eat lamb), cocktails and mocktails (the citrus one). We ordered the smoked eggplant dip but the smokiness was a bit overwhelming (not our palette but for those who enjoy smokiness, you would like this), the zucchini chips (probably our favorite), and a few other items. First time coming here for a friends catch up dinner and it was very pricey for an alright meal. The appetizers were significantly better than the entrees but still overpriced and extremely small portions. Our service was great, as our waiter was attentive and checked on us constantly so no complaints there whatsoever. The spot itself is very well decorated inside and on the exterior. The manager came over and said that she couldn't verify the card's value because they "changed systems." I told her that I received the card two years ago for Xmas. I came here for their 3 course restaurant week dinner. The building is absolutely stunning. One wall has floor to ceiling windows overlayed with a wooden geometric design. It creates a beautiful setting. The restaurant has two floors and high ceilings but it also feels very intimate. It has a swanky NYC vibe. Apparently they have a live DJ on Thursdays but we left right before the set started. All of the staff were accommodating and attentive. The restaurant was very tech-forward with individual menus on digital touchscreen tablets. I hadn't seen that at a restaurant before. To drink, I had the Smoke 'Em If You Got 'Em. Though it did have a spicy after taste and the smokiness of the mezcal came through, it tasted a bit watered down. I had a sip of the Kiss the Fig and loved the fruity, juicy flavor. My mom got Rose on a Perfect Manhattan mocktail and enjoyed it. For the Dry January crowd, they offer several other non-alcoholic cocktails. For my appetizer, I got the zucchini fritters. The portion size was very generous as it came with three large fritters on a bed of tzatziki and red pepper sauce. The fritters were tasty and paired well with the sauce but I would've preferred them to be a bit crispier. My mom and sister got the scallops and said they were cooked to perfection. For my main, I had the fusilli. I am not a huge fan of cooked goat cheese but the goat cheese in the sauce was actually very subtle. It was also topped with fresh goat cheese which made the dish rich and creamy. It arrived super hot and I enjoyed it. My mom's salmon arrived raw but they made her a new plate very quickly. We tried each of the three desserts. The Greek yogurt wasn't super special. The rose petal preserves were tasty but they were just drizzled on top and not infused into the yogurt so it tasted quite plain. The baklava was crunchy and very sweet so it actually paired well with the yogurt. The chocolate mousse was more like a truffle but it was rich and dense and served with blackberries. For Mother's Day I stayed at the opus which is right across the street from Greca. The restaurant is beautiful and it seemed like a busy night. The staff was super friendly and attentive. Mediterranean food is one of my favorites and when we were looking at a place to meet a Yelp friend in White Plains, he recommended this and I'm so glad he did. We really had a great meal here. Let's start with cocktails...I had a baklava old fashioned which was delicious. I only want them like this from now on. The shrimp saganaki looked good so we ordered that and it was excellent. They had a prix fixe meal deal that was too good to pass up so I had a trio of mezes to start and the gyro bites for my entree. The mezes were great and I loved the pita. The gyro bites were really good and I loved the whole deconstructed vibe. It was so much food, I barely had room for the baklava I ordered for dessert. This was also a good, although it could have been a little more done so the dough was crispier. Service was very attentive and nice without being overbearing. They even added blueberries, which really gave it that something special. Parking in Westchester, specifically, White Plains is always a problem for me so I will be coming back here specifically because I know that I can use the valet across the street for free because The Opus & Greca have a special arrangement where it makes parking free! I was looking for a place to have brunch that was not only basic American in White Plains. So, when I saw this pretty restaurant I knew I had to try it. It is close a parking and the train making it ideal for all my friends. Food: 5/5 I am not expert of Greek food so, the brunch sampler seemed to be the only way. I am so glad we did! The plate was able to over satisfy my table of three and they were very considerate of my lactose intolerant. They even pointed out the dishes I could eat from the spread. I have been to many restaurants in Downtown White Plains, but one of my favorites was always Mediterraneo - it combined delicious food with good drinks and a contemporary aesthetic. Needless to say, I was sad when it never reopened after the initial COVID shutdowns. Their closing didn't seem like a typical restaurant closing to me, however, because I would pass by the restaurant often and it always looked like they were just closed for the day (no coverings on the windows, tables still set inside, etc.); it left me wondering if there was something else in the works. Flash forward to about a month ago and I noticed the signage on the restaurant change to Greca - another Mediterranean spot with an emphasis on Greek cuisine. Since I love Greek and trying new spots, I made plans with one of my friends to celebrate her recent job promotion, so off we went. This is actually the second Greca location to open, the first one being in New Milford, CT. The restaurant is in a prime location downtown - nestled close to the crossroad of Main St and Mamaroneck Ave, it's pretty much in the heart of the city. The exterior is striking - super contemporary with an almost basket weave design. It's the same look as when it was Mediterraneo except they added turquoise lights near the roof to go with the color scheme of the restaurants. Keeping in line with the current times, outdoor seating was added to the front of the restaurant. The interior looks great - it's not too large of a space, but they kept the color scheme light with muted greys and blues. The restaurant is a little cramped, especially near the entrance where the bar is, but there are two levels of seating which breaks it up nicely. I can't ignore their drink menu - they have a good selection of wines but their clever cocktails really stuck out to me. I tried their Cloudy Sunday which was really smooth - next time though I want to try the Baklava Old Fashioned; with a name like that how can I not? Anyway, the menu had a good selection of apps, mains, sides, and salads. We decided to start with dips; they had seven to choose from, but we took advantage of their meze trio where you get three and have it come with pita and vegetables. We chose the tzatziki, fava, and hummus. They were all great - tasted super fresh and the pita that came with was nice and warm. Wanting to try something we had not before, we also split the zucchini keftedhes - these were zucchini cakes with feta, tzatziki, and red pepper coulis. These were great - the cheese really elevated the zucchini cakes and the tzatziki was a nice touch. For my main I was feeling salmon - theirs was served with sage, a champagne sauce, and sat on top of trahana. The salmon was very good, it was a generous cut and the trahana was a good complement to the protein. Since it was a special occasion, we decided to split two desserts - the baklava and Greek yoghurt with sour cherries. Their baklava was good - slightly tough to cut through, but not overly drenched in honey and generously packed with walnuts. I also noticed they use a lot of cinnamon in their recipe - it was definitely prominent. I LOVED the Greek yoghurt; it was thick and creamy with lots of sour cherries, the perfect finisher to the meal. Service was great - everyone was very friendly and the food came out at a good pace. Also, the owner was strolling the dining room saying hello to everyone - a nice touch especially since they only opened a couple of weeks ago. Overall, I had a great first experience at Greca - I'm happy to see an upscale Greek restaurant in White Plains, and wish them the best as they expand their business into New York. Seated at the table for 20 minutes before I had to get the attention of one of the waiters to ask if we can order, someone brought over water, but I had to ask two more times, finally after sitting at the table for about 40 minutes we were able to order . Drinks are half the size of a normal martini glass. Food was average and overpriced. Was never asked if we wanted to order additional drinks, food, etc. I noted in the reservations we were there for a birthday asked for a piece of cake with a candle. Basically dropped it off at the table. Didn't even say happy birthday. Hostess looked annoyed when we ask to scan the code for parking as she was busy talking. read more

I didn't even have a chance to eat the olives that were placed on the table by the serve, before my main course arrived. Topped the meal off with everyone's favorite Greek dessert, baklava. The only reason I gave four stars vs five, the server took a long time to come back to take my dessert order. Make this fresh, or get someone who does. If it's done in house, it is way under baked with a gummy texture. - Bronzino, not bad albeit the waitress mischaracterized the dish. Anything with half and half or cream sauce needs to be described correctly as many people can't take the richness. It was good however. - fried, flambé cheese was not the right consistency. It's should be softer and hotter. Ours was hard and cool although the quality was decent. - Greek yogurt and cherry preserves were pretty good. The rub here: not cheap and food was mediocre at best. I'll pay, but the ingredients and prep have to be 4/5 star. They were not. The service was OK but I am forgiving if the food is great. It just wasn't. We had 3 drinks total and paid $175 for the evening with tip. Make it $200 even, but elevate the food and its prep.
