We really enjoyed trying out the menu, starting with three amazing appetizers: oysters, a pear and apple salad (a mix of wild greens, apples, pears, walnuts, cheese shavings, and citrus dressing), and an octopus salad with none's style- steamed octopus with capers, red onions, potatoes, Croatian extra virgin olive oil, and red wine vinegar). For the main courses, we had golden snapper with julienne vegetables and branzino filet with risotto. To finish, we had three wonderful desserts: fresh berries with whipped cream, chocolate and orange cake, and Croatian-style crepes with rose hip jam. We also had drinks and coffee. The service was excellent; they were attentive and efficient. We sat outside on the upper patio, which was a bit chilly, but they had space heaters to make it cozy. I ordered octopus salad which I loved and nothing to complain. The octopus is very fresh and the price is reasonable for what it is. What I had issue with was I personally think they try to hard but lack of really providing the best atmosphere for their customers. They use iPad as menu but the iPad they gave me won't turn on. They have great music, a duo playing guitar and singing. The music is great but they are way toooooo loud. We can't really talk so it was just awkward to mostly eat and listen to the music. We came for dinner on a Saturday night to Dubrovnik. While searching for parking, we realized that they offer valet parking right in front of the restaurant, which is very convenient. The interior of the restaurant is very nice, very cozy, and gives both a romantic and comforting vibe. They brought us some warm bread to start. We ordered the grilled octopus and cuttlefish risotto to start the meal. The octopus was perfectly cooked, crunchy skin but tender on the inside, and the risotto was scrumptious. Then, we shared a grilled fish entree, which came with a potato and chard mix as a side. We wrapped up our meal with some coffee as we enjoyed the last few pieces of bread. Grabbed lunch here with my family. Wasn't busy yet, but they had to make a lighting (flashing in my face) adjustment for table they put us at. Been a while since I've been back, but enjoyed everything ordered (octopus salad, grilled calamari, cuttlefish risotto, pork chops, veal ragout and cornish hen). Tried the Tomic red wine, which was ok. Enjoyed our meal, which is expected considering the cost of the entrees ranging from $19 to $32. Location is probably the biggest issue here since they are on a very busy stret. While they have valet parking, not inclined to stop there. For those hoping to take their dog dining at Dubrovnik's outdoor patio, Dubrovnik is not dog friendly. They asked for a service dog ID (no such thing exists) in order to allow dining on the outdoor patio. It was a weekday afternoon and no customers were at their patio. It's their prerogative to deny service, but disappointing nonetheless and their revenue loss. read more

I had such a wonderful time here and will definitely be coming back to try more of their food! It was my first time having Croatian food and I really enjoyed all the flavors. The servers were also very kind and accommodating which made my date night here even better. I was a bit cold sitting by the door and they immediately allowed me to move to another table away from the wind. I've been eyeing this restaurant for a while and then I saw that they were participating in the Hudson Valley Restaurant Week. For their dinner menu, it was 3 courses for just $45 but my partner and I wanted to try more items from their menu. They gave us bread with a chickpea spread and their own homemade olive oil which was delicious. We started with their oysters and grilled vegetables to start, which were delicious. I loved how the puréed eggplant tasted and my favorite was probably the grilled pepper. I went with the Skradin Veal Risotto and it was delicious. I kept wanting to eat more of it. They have another type of risotto that I'm definitely going to try on my next visit. Then I had the Pasta "Morski Plodovi" which had clams, shrimp and cavatelli. The sauce was addicting and the bits of shrimp in there really brightened up the whole dish. I'm a big fan of seafood and this place absolutely nailed it in my opinion. For dessert, I chose the Kremšnita which was a puff pastry with vanilla custard. I loved the flakiness of the puff and it was just the perfect end to the meal. My only regret is eating more food before my meal because I had gotten really full here but next time I'll be coming with an empty stomach ready to eat through the menu! read more

The food was generally fine. The seafood pasta was delicious, the appetizer salad had little flavor and the tomatoes were not ripe, the lamb chops were tasty but nothing special. The real issue was the service, which manifest in two forms. First, we wanted to order fish and the waiter told us he would bring enough (it's sold by weight) to feed the 6 fish eaters at the table. He brought us roughly twice as much as we needed , adding at least $100 to the bill. He never said how much fish he intended to bring out. Perhaps this was our fault for not proactively making a specific order but in this type of restaurant you expect the waiter to handle this task. The second issue was more significant. The waiter would not stop talking. He lingered at the table forever after taking our order. In addition to delaying putting our order in, the banter was annoying and at times offensive. He insulted the out of town guests by repeating stereotypes about their home city, sharing that he had a racist dog, and by saying he thought about putting a Star of David design on the birthday boy's dessert. While he hit many topics in his rambling, religion wasn't one of them. I suspect this is not the first time he has received negative feedback for this issue. As soon as a more senior waiter came by, he wrapped up his unending talk. This service significantly impacted what should have been a joyous celebration of a significant birthday and added $50 in babysitting costs due to his delay. read more

My wife and I had a terrific dining experience with our friends at Dubrovnik last night. We were greeted and seated promptly and the decor and atmosphere was terrific. For appetizers we had grilled shrimp and octopus a special Dubrovnik Salad and some roasted figs with Prosciuuto. Main courses included monk fish with clams and mussels rib eye and filet mignon and branzino filleted at the table. Dessert we shared the Dubrovnik chocolate cake and espresso. Everything was delicious. We had plenty of time to sit and chat and we were also given a tour of the garden area and private dining area in the wine cellar by the owner. Came here with some high expectations for the first time. We were warmly welcomed and sat at a nice table downstairs. Service was unobtrusive and the food came fast. Room had ok ambiance e with wine wall but loud slide to lower ceilings. Nice art on walls We were served bread with olive oil and a dip I think of garbanzo beans. Ok olive oil The beets and grilled calamari were the appetizer. Beets were delicious with a nice acidity and sprinkled with goat cheese. Delicious. Calamari was accompanied with coleslaw and it worked well! Nice acidity and olive and garlic. Calamari was great although the middle was a little undercooked. Nice large portion. The lobster special was a lobster tail cooked broiled and presented very nicely. It was a little rubbery but it was tasty. The other entree was problematic. I felt like a pork chop and expected a grilled pork chop with nice Brussels sprouts and potatoes. The Brussels sprouts were mushy and lacked flavor. Potatoes were ok. Pork chop was unacceptable - overcooked and doused is a gravy of some sort (I had to put a piece of bread to absorb this mess so I could try eat the pork chop). Unfortunately the pork chop was inedible. It was impossible to cut with a steak knife so I gave up - see pic. Waiter asked how it was as my plate was barely touched. I said no and he asked the manager to come over. He did and of course comped the pork chop and offered a new dish of my choice. By then I was not in the mood for further experimentation and despite his efforts and good nature I just could not accept. Overall this was a poor experience and the food disappointing. People were super nice and I understand that I may have ordered the 'wrong thing'. But if it's on the menu either do it right or take it off the menu Will I return? Maybe for redemption but certainly disappointed. read more

Dubrovnik is good. Solid. Space is very interesting. Nice indoors and they have two patios in back of which add to the ambiance. Drinks were really interesting and beautifully made. Overall the food was good and presentation was terrific. We found the flavors to be a little muted but very pleasant. One suggestion would be to re visit service. I would say it's professional but a little cold and inattentive. No description of specials, no checking on the table, no discussion of the menu just dropping off of menus and food. My fiancé and I tried Croatian food for the first time here at Dubrovnik last night. We were seated in the patio area and the ambience definitely made it feel like we were dining in the Mediterranean- perfect for an engagement dinner. We ordered a variety of food including: pork chop "Samobor" style, chargrilled Branzino, grilled salmon, and the asparagus risotto. When you order their fish, you can choose between having the fish filleted for you or having the whole fish brought to you. While it does take a good amount of time for the food to be served, the food did taste very fresh and good when it arrived. We both agreed that our favorite dish was the asparagus risotto. read more

While the backyard terrace and garden are special, the dining room is also a very warm and sophisticated place to enjoy a meal. On this Saturday we enjoyed a bottle of Croatian white wine, shared cuttlefish risotto, and a wild caught New Zealand red snapper with their delicious potatoes and Swiss chard on the side. The wait staff is always on point, attentive and professional. The restaurant was busy, yet everyone was laughing, relaxed and enjoying their meals. There was a lively bar scene, with plenty of people just enjoying drinks and some having a bite. As we entered we were warmly welcomed as always and on departure we were thanked and wished a nice night. I've been to this restaurant many times in the past service was always good. Food was excellent. However, Saturday was a catastrophe. My mom turned 88 years old. We made a reservation for 14 people and put down a deposit of $500. We explained that we wanted a table for 14 people we would arrive an hour early to decorate and set up. I asked about the corkage fee for nonalcoholic champagne. They would we could arrive early and they would not charge us for the nonalcoholic beverages When we arrived at the restaurant an hour before the reservations, they were surprised. They scrambled the last minute to put together a table for 14 people on a balcony overlooking a very noisy band. We waited for 15 minutes as they set up the table and then proceeded to decorate. We gave them the nonalcoholic champagne, and the cake. Our guest arrived and we purchased champagne and the waiter served the champagne and non-alcoholic champagne Appetizers were served. The waiter disappeared for 20 minutes. We placed our orders for dinner. The entrées arrived except my mother's we waited. I asked we waited I asked. Everyone finished their dinner 20 minutes later my mother's the guest of honor entrée arrived. I expressed my extreme and displeasure with the waiter. He shrugged his shoulders and said I'm sorry. After the dinner, he said I'll take something off your bill. As the bill arrived, they had not taken off the $500 deposit. He asked you paid a deposit. I said yes I did and showed him the digital receipt. He took the deposit off, but I noticed in several guests noticed that he didn't take anything off as he said he would for screwing up my mother's dinner. And they also charged us a corkage fee for the nonalcoholic champagne, and a service fee for the cake. Guest should never leave a dinner, angry or upset. This service and this particular waiter were horrific. The food was good, but I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone again. read more

Excellent food. NYC worthy service. Frankly this restaurant made me feel like we were back in Greece. Food quality was excellent all around. We had bass, lamb, octopus, scallops and a crepe dessert and the chocolate lava cake. Even the beer and wine were excellent. Server was funny and extremely knowledgeable of the menu. Excellent Mediterranean food. Moved a solid but not rushed pace. Opportunities for improvement (and fwiw I'm being very picky): the bread was nothing to write home about, could make a bit more interesting. The iPad menus are overkill. Not really a deterrent but an old school paper menu would be better imho (I am NOT old!). Ambiance is good but if I'm being REALLY picky, it's not quite contemporary. Absolutely none of these things effect my rating and what's important (noise, food, service) was all incredible. read more

Came with a large group and ordered all the things ;) The grilled vegetables and the cuttlefish risotto to start - and let me start by saying: I'm not one who craves cuttlefish/squid ink foods, but the risotto was simply amazing - we wound up ordering a few of these to share. Also had the Pasta Lopud (with lobster and shrimp), veal ragou (gnocchi and veal), whole grilled fish (I believe it was the snapper), roasted cornish hen, and a platter of sausages (lamb, I believe.) Finished with Palačinke (a crepe filled with ice cream was the one I sampled), the Kremšnita (a puff pastry with vanilla creme) and something else I didn't get a chance to try. All washed down with some good Croatian beer, wine, and cocktails - which they do a great job of making. While we did have the benefit of a native Croatian who was part of our party and led the ordering, the service and food were excellent. It's rare when you order so many things and so many of them are hits - everything was fantastic. But that cuttlefish risotto is really seared into my memory. I've never been to Croatia so I can't judge on how good the food is relative to what you'd find in Croatia. The menu is seafood-centric, however, the crudo that I ordered for the appetizer didn't taste too fresh.. The seafood pasta For my entrée was fantastic and generously portioned. Service was good and overall food was ok. However, it didn't make me feel like I have to come back or that I'd be missing out if I never had a chance to dine here. A 3.5 star experience at best.
