Stopped into F&J Pine for a family dinner. The space is open with an off shoot bar and additional private rooms for gatherings. There is street parking and valet parking. We opted for valet due to the limited street parking available. This place seems to be a favorite of many and I understand why. The food is tasty, with lots of options and the service is excellent.

Good authentic Italian. It's tough parking so use valet! The place is huge and staff very friendly! We tried the eggplant parm and side order of meatballs. They both were very good. The eggplant was seasoned good the sauce tasted fresh and it was hardy with a slight nod to sweet which I like. Our friends got the pasta with vodka sauce and sausage and it was delicious as well. For starters we ordered a salad ( really good for a salad lol) lamb chops lil over done but in fairness we didn't provide a temp when ordered and the clams which I can't eat but hubby said they were really good!!!! They take a picture while dining then provide you a framed one to buy! The food comes out fast too!

One of my favorite Italian restaurants in the Bronx. I love the old Hollywood photos in the restaurant and leather cushioned booths. The bar is a great spot to grab drinks with friends, separate from the dining area. Service waiters are always on point and attentive.

In my opinion they've gotten better since my last visit. Consensus at our table from regulars that are constantly here, is that F&J seems to be providing larger portions to match their prices. You don't hear that everyday. Afternoon service was fast...maybe too fast in some instances, but nothing that affected our meals or dampened our spirits. The restaurant was half empty during lunch hence the reason for staff being eager to keep busy. At least that's what I'm guessing. Atmosphere is still great with Frank and Dean crooning those 50's hits. We'll definitely be back.

My cousin rented A & J Pine for her graduation party, and overall, it turned out to be the best value for a party of 40. The venue itself is very pretty; there's a charming fountain out front that sets a great first impression. To pass the time before the festivities, a few of us hit the bar. My man ordered a blue piña colada (super fun and tropical), and I had a spicy margarita. It was decent, but I think it would've hit harder if they used Tajín on the rim instead of salt. For "Cocktail Hour" we had passing of hors d'oeuvres of Chicken Parm Sliders that came out kind of cold, Fried Ravioli with a cheese filling that was too dry for me, Coconut Shrimp, and Crab Cakes; I don't eat seafood, but those who did raved about the crispiness of the two. The Salad Bar & Cold Antipasto display looked nice and fresh. The cured meats, mozzarella, and focaccia were crowd-pleasers. For the Main Course we had Sirloin of Beef, Sadly, the quality felt more like a frozen TV dinner cut. There was Pork Tenderloin, but I didn't care try it. The potatoes were dry and hard. The Eggplant Rollatini was too thick and juicy for my taste, not the best texture for this dish. The Penne & Stuffed Ravioli were good, something you'd expect from an Italian restaurant. The Venetian Dessert Table was the highlight of the night, it was a work of art . Table was beautifully done, with a chocolate fountain at the center and a great variety of sweets: tiramisu, cheesecake, cannoli, mini pastries, cupcakes, and more. Everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. My daughter was so excited for this. There was Unlimited red and white wine at the table (Canyon Road) was a definite plus. Also, a good range of soft drinks, juices, tea, and coffee was available throughout the evening. Despite the food being hit or miss (leaning a bit too mid for my taste), most of us felt we got our money's worth. The venue was beautiful, the drinks flowed, and we had a great time celebrating. If you're in the Bronx looking for a reasonably priced party venue with a classy atmosphere, A & J Pine is worth considering.

This place is an institution for the real OG's of The Bronx. Although it's not technically in Arthur Ave, it gives off that same classic Italian-American vibe. My best friend's family has been coming here ever since his grandparents emigrated years back, and it's been their tradition since the 50s when they'd seek out community, driving in all the way from Queens. The place has changed locations a few times, but this one really makes you feel welcome. It gives off more of a suburb, local feel, with people dressed in all sorts of manner. It was nice to see everyone dressed up in their Sunday best for this Memorial Day weekend. Just a heads up that Valet parking is available (and mandatory) outside to help deal with The Bronx Traffic (an eccentricity of this area/borough). We had a reservation for 2, and I imagined it helped a lot, since all of the tables were perpetually full for the entire duration of our meal. This place serves up the classics, and that's exactly what we got. We ordered the Arancini Balls (Parmigiano Reggiano, arborio rice, mozzarella cheese, ground beef and green peas) to start, chicken parm (of course) with a small side of angel hair (that comes included) for the first main, alongside the Orecchiette Broccoli DI Rapa and Sausage. Free salad and bread comes at the start of every meal, which beats out Olive Garden regardless of "unlimited". The salad was fresh and the bread was super soft -- just make sure not to get super full from it. The Arancini Balls come in a set of three that resemble 3 large boulders with a small sea of delicious "gravy" -- definitely get this if you come. The chicken parm came with three/four large chicken breasts and admittedly, just one bested me; the pasta dish was also only 1/3rd tackled by us, despite our best efforts. The Orecchiette was perfectly cooked and the sausage bathed in the rich garlic sauce was divine. The chicken parm was standard fare, though I would have liked there to be more breading and larger chicken breast -- it was a bit flatter than I expected. All in all, a great meal set in a great environment if you're in the area.

1st allow me to display the food ordered. Eggplant appetizer, calamari, brushetta with shrimps and baked clams. All was just ok .. !!! Sadly, I expected it to be outstanding but it wasn't. Also ordered a small cheese pizza. It was ok. Sauce was weak and the cheese tasted fake. Service was excellent . The server was perfect. However, he is not the cook and or chef. The server is not the purchaser of the food. The calamari were very small thin and not a large serving. The brushtta was on a hard piece of toast and the shrimps topping that were overcooked. What disturbed me beyond anything was the gentleman (or lack thereof) and his rude behavior. After being there for 1.5 hours and today Saturday March 29 the temperature here in New York City was a solid 82*, I kindly requested for the air to be turned on because it was warm .. Sadly, this animal represeting this establishment, yelled at me telling me that there was nothing he could do with the oven on and the restaurant filling. He refused to assist. What disturbed me was that he could have said the same thing professionally yet he didn't... I asked him to please lower his voice and to that his response was "NOT EVEN MY MOTHER TELLS ME TO LOWER MY VOICE"! I quickly removed myself and returned to my table. As we left, this animal says to us "REMEMBER I'M THE MAN"! What is this man's issue???? In addition, the food was not up to par, however, this man who i have pictured in my review. Is the only reason I will not return and give this restaurant any opportunity to spend my money !!

This is your typical neighborhood Italian fare but with great service, tailored atmosphere (something for everyone), and phenomenal food. The fish was exceptional - fresh, flavorful but not overly seasoned, and a great portion. The bar is also big and beautiful. I really enjoy coming here - I hosted my babyshower here 5 years ago and today had lunch here to celebrate surviving 5 years with a toddler haha.

Gone to this place years ago and my friend decided to go here for his bday and I have to say the food ambiance services was great. We had a great time. The drinks could have been better but overall it was a good time.

F&J pine has always been my favorite in the Bronx. This is a must visit to either dine or take out. It's the best value you'll ever get where the portions are huge and the quality is great. The heroes are filled with fillings and large. The seafood bisque and pasta figole are my favorite soup. Can't go wrong with their risotto and seafood linguine. When you dine there; they also give you salad and rolls. Service is outstanding and always packed on the weekends and Friday nights. They're also great for retirement parties where you can get a private room.

pesto gnocchi

Great service and good food a gem in the bronx i got pesto gnocchi and it is out of this world. i need to ask them for the pesto recipe. it was fluffy and full of flavor. i think this will be my go-to every time i visit! the veal masala was good at first but after awhile the sauce started tasting like soap and i wasn't a fan of it anymore. i wonder if it's the pesto gnocchi combo that did teach but overall it was pretty good in the beginning. its a lot of food ! ambiance has lots of bronx italian heritage things and is family friendly awesome space and has valet on premise 9/10 too good

F & J Pine Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - F & J Pine

My wife and I are racking our brains. We moved in 91. Haven't been to the restaurant since the 80's. Can't remember but the name seems off. Was it called something different back then? Pine tree? Been driving me nuts. "Pine" doesn't sound right.

It was called Frankie & Johnnies.

Does F & J Pine take credit cards?

Yes

Can someone tell me about the private dining rooms and party rooms? Where the are located from the main restaurant? How many guests they seat? And any prefixed or menu prices. Thank you.

There are several party rooms towards the back of the main dining area. For your additional questions you are better off contacting the restaurant directly for specific answers.

Do they take credit cards?

Yes

The team here knows how to make you feel taken care of without ever being overbearing--just warm, attentive hospitality that sets the tone for a great meal. The menu is full of dishes that feel thoughtfully prepared, and everything I've tried has been consistently flavorful. The lamb entrées are outstanding--tender, perfectly seasoned, and incredibly satisfying. Their steaks are just as impressive, cooked beautifully and full of rich flavor. It's the kind of food that makes you slow down and enjoy every bite. What really stands out, though, is the atmosphere. It strikes that perfect balance between relaxed and elevated, making it ideal for a cozy dinner, a laid-back evening with friends, or even a casual drink at the end of the day. There's a lot of intention in the details--lighting, décor, textures--which creates a space that feels both comfortable and polished without trying too hard. Every time I leave, I'm reminded why this has become a favorite. Great food, genuinely kind service, and an environment that makes you want to stay a little longer. Absolutely a place worth recommending, and one I'm always happy to return to. 5/5.

We didn't really get too much of an "Italian" vibe because a majority of the songs were in Spanish or English but that's neither here nor there. Our server was great however it did take a while for him to get around to us and I sat for about 15 minutes waiting for a Coke until my actual entree came out but that's not worries. I put in a special request on OpenTable for a birthday treat and they brought up a big spread of what he could choose from and he opted for the crème brûlée! We really enjoyed it and that they sang him happy birthday. We ordered stuffed crab mushrooms which were delicious and the lobster ravioli was also super yummy! I ordered the chicken parmigiana and thought it tasted like any other kind, it wasn't bad but it didn't stick out to me. I think the noodles were made al dente because they were a bit too firm for my liking and the sauce tasted like it came from a bottle as opposed to real pasta sauce. My partner gave his food an 9/10, I give mine a 7/10. We did some drinks as well I think I had a rum punch and my partner had a mojito and we both enjoyed our drinks as well, 9/10 for the rum and 10/10 for the mojito.

We started with drinks and a charcuterie board, that was fantastic and had a lacy, mild cheese I'd never had before. We were still hungry, so we ordered more tapas. This food was mid at best. We ordered the skirt steak which was very tough with a jus that just wasn't quite right. We also ordered the Brussels sprouts which in my opinion were undercooked. We probably should have ordered the wings as Mariam suggested but yeah, out side of the cheese board, the food was a 6. The menu is also confusing because it very much feels like a French restaurant, but the menu was all over the place with tuna tartare and hot wings. I'll come back but I'll keep it to the mocktails and charcuterie (which they have several options of, including beer and wine).
