This will be a bit lengthy of a review sorry in advance but it's a very honest experience. We booked a venue here for a sweet 16. We went to other places months in advance and were having issue with dates and then ppl getting sick. A friend told us about this place we checked it out and we fell in love instantly. We legit last min everything like same month and idk how they made it happen. Communication with staff was on point. When I tell you I emailed a lot they always respond in a timely manner i was blown away. I was helped by Aldi & Kelly. All the staff Extremely friendly kind and understanding of everything we wanted to the T and even with last minute accommodation they pulled through. Our baby girl loved it and was so happy. I didn't get to eat anything because I was hosting and mingling with friends family co workers etc and making sure the birthday girl had everything she wanted but everyone who attended even the picky eaters in the family who complain about everything stated the food was amazing. We went with the buffet style with open bar. We had chicken tenders and fries (again sweet 16 party had to have a bit of food for everyone's liking), pizzetta, penne alla vodka, chicken parm, pigs in a blanket, toasted ravioli, sirloin of beef, fried calamari, baked salmon scampi, chilled baby shrimp and the connoil's. From what everyone keeps telling me who attended they loved all the foods except the salmon they said wasn't made too well and the baby shrimps. The connoils I did have and they were amazing. Even the bathroom was beautiful. They gave us a speaker we played our own music we even had high chairs for babies. The only thing that I wasn't too fond of was that we only got 2 hrs to decorate which isn't much time for a big party but I get it, it's business. We had funeral luncheon service in this restaurant. It was so comforting from the beginning when we came to make a reservation. We we lucky to be taken care by Liz , who turned to be a heartfelt super pleasant professional lady understanding our situation . She went above and beyond with us and we had a very nice time when all the guests came over . We were served by a professional and compassion waiter John , who made that time for everyone pleasant . The food was tasty and really authentic . The service was fast and everyone could enjoy it . The private room was cozy and comfortable. I highly recommend this place for an event . read more

I came here with a group of friends and the place is so elegant. As soon as you walk in, it feels like you're at a really fancy spot. They have a brick oven for their pizzas in the front which makes it look so authentic. The food was good and the portions are huge. The only complaint I really had was that the penne allá vodka lacked flavor but I fixed that by adding salt that was already on the table and asked for red pepper flakes. It took it to another level. One of my all time favorite restaurants in NY. The food is amazing. I loved my gnocchi and my friends loved their food. The reason for 3 stars is due a few factors. First there were items on the menu that they no longer sell. I totally hate that. Update your menu so that it's current. Second, the waitstaff was quite slow. Coffee took twenty minutes to arrive after the desserts. Third, the used to have fresh Parmesan cheese and grate it in front of you but now it's the shelf type and they refuse to leave it at the table. If you want more you need to call the waiter. After a nice day at the Bronx Zoo, what better way to refuel than with some great Italian food at F&J Pine. It's been years since I've dined at F&J but everything lived up to what I remembered. Quality rustic Italian dishes and insanely large portions whether you opt for a single order plate or family style. We kept it simple ordering the calamari and fried mozzarella n' toasted ravioli duo for appetizers followed by penne a la vodka, chicken parm and chicken francese for our main accompanied with potato croquettes. As customers who have ordered delivery from Frankie & Johnny ( F & J Pine restaurant)several times, We will NEVER spend our money with you again. This evening we ordered lasagna $30 and eggplant parmigiana $22 to be delivered. When we received our order we noticed that it was chicken parmigiana, we were not eating meat for a fast. My husband called and spoke to "the manager" Marco who preceded to tell us that he will give us "store credit" which doesn't make sense since we don't eat from there on a regular basis. When we went to open the lasagna to feed our kids there was a single portion of lasagna that we know was not the portion size we have ordered in the past. We called Marco again to complain about the order and he told us to send him a picture then hangs up the phone. I sent him a photo via text and he never responded. My husband called him back and he preceded to argue that this is the correct size. We explained to him we have order their $30 lasagna several times and we always had portions that could feed at least two but he continued to argue that we were wrong he was so loud that I could hear him without the phone being on speaker. After this fiasco, my husband told him we did not want the food and would like a refund and we will personally get in our car and return it, this is when Marco hung up the phone on my husband, in other words "you're getting nothing!" Not only was he rude but was very unprofessional! I'm sure it could of been busy and someone made a mistake with the orders but to act as if it's our fault and don't even try to amend the situation shows a lack of integrity and consideration for your customers and I will never spend or recommend this business to anyone. read more

Came here on a Saturday afternoon, 2:30am after being turned away from other restaurants nearby since my party was too large to seat at the time. My party was accommodated and seated within 10min. The man who made that happen was the sweetest. It wasn't until we got there that we learned that most people make reservations days or weeks in advance. My party of 11 all enjoyed our meals, desserts & drinks. The kids all had a great time. Meals are definitely shareable. I had the seafood risotto, my husband had the veal, someone else ordered the ziti & another ordered lobster ravioli (can't remember the rest). All the food was good. We had celebrated HS Reunion 50th Anniversary. The price we paid for the food in my opinion was over priced for 13. The food was not warm, the chicken Parmesan was over cooked and hard to cut, the ribs were not cooked properly and was not seasoned properly, the chicken wings and drumsticks were to myself ok. Overall, not the best place for me to eat there again. I travel a lot and I am a foodie, who likes to rate restaurants for their food, hospitality, etc. We decided to take a group picture and it cost a lot in my opinion with frame. One picture we took as a group,frame felled and broke and when requested to see if they could replace as a courtesy their response was no you have to pay for it again that is outrageous for the amount of money we paid for a group and their service was mediocre. My friend raved about this place but I went with her and she did tell me the quality has gone down. I prefer Gino's from Bay Ridge if I'm looking for an American Italian meal. All the dishes were massive in size and I can't believe people eat these separately. This isn't a place you go to if you want to eat a fancy meal. I get that. The part I just don't get is that I don't find anything great about the dishes. As a tip - the calamari here was actually pretty good on its own without any breading because it was fresh however my group did not want any of it because it wasn't even fried. The best thing on the menu was the seafood bisque! Highly recommend that! We had the tortellini and the carbonara and it was loaded with an insane amount of cheese and cream I felt like that was all there was to it. There was no taste other than mediocre cheese or cream. The ravioli tasted like stuff I got when I was in middle school and the lunch lady just threw a lasagna on my plate. It was way too much and there was nothing great about the bread or the olive oil and vinegar choices. The tomato sauce used in the marinara or any tomato dish was ok. Not as fresh tasting. We came here for my birthday dinner. We were seated right away. We did have a reservation. We were greeted immediately by our server. The restaurant was super loud and busy as lots of graduations and birthdays being celebrated. It was really loud so hard to have any sort of conversation, but we did our best. All of the appetizers and dinner was great! Everyone enjoyed their meal and they were super accommodating to cutting the cake I brought to the restaurant. Noted as a family style restaurant but when you arrive it isn't really that. The plates are larger but not exactly what was expected. The staff were nice while slower than any other place, until it was time to leave then our table was cleared in seconds as if to say leave now. With Italian restaurants you have some expectations the first is really great fried calamari it's like a staple- sad to say our was bland at best, zero seasoning on the batter, no flavor at all. Also very chewy like it came from a bad supermarket bag. The savior was the sauce which was pretty good. However we have had better at chain restaurants. The atmosphere is really very welcoming and CLEAN with lot of cool Yankee memorabilia on the walls. It has a big menu but the food itself was uneven. Pasta's are properly cooked and tasty, but I found the appetizers to be a big disappointment. Baked clams in a shell had no clam taste or clams, seafood salad was rubbery and lacked any real flavor. I do have to say that the portion size is large and feels like a nice value. It was a quiet night, and though the service was friendly, polite and accommodating...it took quite a while to get our food. If you are looking for a place that can handle a large party in a really nice space and are looking for down to earth family style Italian food...this is your place. This restaurant is as if Louie Prima owns it himself. One of the last few staples of the original Italian Bronx. I swear I walk in and just start speaking fluent Italian. You take a bite of one of their spectacularly savory appetizers and you start singing "C' 'na luna mezz'u mare Mamma mia m'a maritare!" It reminds me of my old Sicilian grandfather who always had a "guy" for things. They have a chicken parmigiana that will "blow your balls off." If you're going for the burrata(which I recommend) get two servings of it if you have more than three people in your party because it's so good that it's just not enough. Also the clams oreganata*chefs kiss* molto bene. Location: It is located in Bronxdale Ave. Few blocks from my house. I have been here twice and it is good for family gatherings. The interior is nice, there is a huge brick oven where they baked their pizza. A cozy place to eat! Service: The guys were fantastic! Af course they have to be away from us too. I ordered and they told me to wait outside. I completely understand it, it is for our safety. Food: I ordered the BAKED ZITI with MEATBALLS: the pasta is cooked al dente! Trekked here from Staten Island to meet friends for a holiday dinner. I was here a few years ago and loved it. Don't know what happened between then and now. I would hate to think that just because the place was mobbed that they could throw out sub par food. 2 years ago the bread was amazing. Now it had no taste at all. Looked a lot better than it really was. Pizza 2 years ago was fabulous. This year it was soft crust. A bit too thick and no taste. Needed red pepper badly. House salad was one of the best things. Shrimp parm was soggy and the sauce was over whelming tasting. Tasted the rigatoni with pancetta. Way too overwhelming. How could potato croquets also have no taste?? We were 6 people. I didn't hear anybody say their food was delicious. Cappuccino was watery Cheese cake was good. Very disappointed. Maybe they just can't handle a crowd which it was really crowded. And also did the Melanzane for good measure. Oh no, getting a bit full.... Went on to seafood salad and calamari, whoa, our server Max kept the pace perfect! Calamari was well seasoned and crispy. Let's talk about the ZUPPA DI PESCE because we must... The touch of heat in the sauce (as an option) was very tolerable. The sauce itself was soooooooo incredible. The flavors of the sauce combined with the linguine were alone worth the price of admission. I'm guessing they throw some pasta water into the flavors of the ocean and opening shells. In this dish we also have several crab leg clusters, muscles, lobster tails, and sautéed other goodness (scallops, calamari, etc). We got messy breaking open crab legs, and it was worth it. We did the "parmigiana" sampler, which was pretty much a plate of everything parmigian style. I thought I was taking a fork full of eggplant as I was fading fast, but nope, it was veal. Must finish. Oh, and now the guys are just "food shopping", as in, what else can we order just because we know we want to take it home for future meals? We did well, and it was great to hop over the Throgs back to our Isle of Long. The dining room was perfect, service great, and valet ++. The ambiance is very delightful. Soft playing Frank Sinatra in the background & the decor is stylish of old NYC. I love the old photos of celebrities, artists and sports memorabilia. The tables are classy. White tablecloths, nice silverware. The servers were fantastic and just attentive enough to fill water glasses, inquire about the meal and remove used dishes. We didn't have a reservation, but Marko seated us with gusto. We were very grateful. Our food was flavorful. We loved the appetizer platter with calamari, fried ravioli, shrimp, baked clams and stuffed mushrooms. We had to take 1/2 of our entrees home because we were so full. Fantastic portions! I just had a terrible experience at the Pine on 5/3/2025. My husband and I made a reservation for 7:15 PM. Yes, we made the reservation at 6 PM. We walked in at 7 PM only to be told by the host that we "only made a reservation an hour ago and that there were people waiting weeks" I asked if it would have been better to walk in. I was told that it would have been better than making a reservation an hour ago. There were tables open on Resy so I made a reservation. We have never been treated so poorly by an establishment and want everyone to be aware of this awful customer service. read more
