I had high hopes for Tin Marin in the Bronx, but unfortunately our experience was disappointing. We were seated by the manager/owner, Henry Guzman. Unfortunately, the service throughout the evening was mediocre. Our waitress simply forgot about us. We were left waiting for our drinks and had to wait far longer than we should have without any communication or attention. The one person who truly stood out was Edgar. He noticed what was happening, stepped in, and kindly asked us to give him a chance to make things right. He was attentive, professional, and genuinely cared about providing good service. We sincerely appreciate him for stepping up and making an effort to improve our experience. What was most disappointing was seeing the manager/owner, Henry Guzman, sitting at the bar drinking beers instead of overseeing the restaurant and making sure customers were being taken care of. Leadership sets the standard for a business, and when management appears disengaged, it reflects in the quality of service. I hope this review is taken as constructive criticism. Tin Marin has potential, but the customer experience starts with attentive management and better service. Oooo only returned back here because the place originally wanted to go to next door wasn't opened yet. And I remember the food being good. But one things for sure is that I don't remember the service being that bad. We immediately was sat down upon arriving however not serviced for a very long time by the waiter. There was a separate server for drinks but we never actually received a waiter to take our orders. It was an excessive amount of time, at least 40 minutes of waiting for our food order to be taken. We did eventually get someone's attention, but noticeably it was the afternoon and it wasn't packed at all (maybe about 4 other small parties and 1 big party). There was a couple that came in after us and was serviced and received their food before we were able to put in our food order. We were left exhausted of being there so long by the time we wanted to leave. The tapas were appetizing indeed. The GAMBAS AL AJILLO...Shrimp, Creamy Garlic Sauce has always been a hit to me. This was the item that may have redeemed a little bit of the experience. Also what I remembered the most from my previous visit was the octopus, so I had to get it again. The dish specifically was the PULPO AL AJILLO...Sautéed Octopus, Fingerling Potatoes, White Wine, Garlic, Lime, and Olive Oil which was decent and I did enjoy the portion size of it. This place is really nice! The tapas options are really good. The ingredients were fresh and tasty. The customer service, five stars alone because everyone from my bartender, to my hostess, and my servers, I was addressed with nothing but smiles and happiness. I have been here before but it has been awhile and they even expanded the place. They have live bands from Thursday nights thru Sunday I've been told. They have outside dining as well but the whole inside of the restaurant is beautiful and plenty of space and tables. Bar is huge with so many specialty cocktails to offer. Just a really great place to visit with friends, or great for date night. Love Tin Marín! I always have a great experience here. Tonight, I had a pineapple juice, bread and oil, meatballs, caprese salad, plantains and the empanadas. Everything was delicious. And we loved it. We stopped in for dinner on a Sunday, and there was plenty of seating available. Tin Marín was very cozy and nicely decorated for the holidays. I can't wait to stop back in and try more of their options. The spices they use and the sauces are delicious and complete each dish. The service was great too! So nice, I had to visit twice. Jan. 24th & Jan. 25th. On Friday, my friends suggested Tin Marin. We walked in and I immediately loved the ambiance, dark lighting, warm feel, beautiful decor and fully stocked bar. We were seated immediately and given water and bread with the most delicious garlic oil. Our orders were as follows: Gambas al Ajillo, Setas, Papas Bravas, French Fries and the Vegetarian Platter. Drinks: Expresso Martini, Lemon Drop and French 75, Dessert: Tres Leches. The following day, I took my gym buddy there, we timed our arrival to coincide with the 4pm opening. Food: Salmon with sautéed veggies and spinach in a roasted red pepper sauce, French Fries and the Veggie Platter. Drinks: Espresso Martini and French 75. Overall, I loved that the menu had options for us all, the food and drinks were good and most importantly the service was great. I will be visiting again soon. read more

Very deceptive. Would love to know what exactly a "handling fee" is. Would be to nice to be transparent as a company and inform your guests of charges like this. And not once the bill arrives. Food is very subpar. Cocktail was good. Would not return. --owner responded on google. No accountability what so ever. Claimed that the service charge is stated on their menu. I took video of the website that same day and posted on google and will be posting here. Days later, they finally added in the text to match their lies on their website. No apology. I have already contacted BBB along with visa and will be contacting my bank next. Went there last night with my siblings and loved the decor, it's really pretty and the hostess was nice. There was a flamenco show, as well. Once we were seated, it was a total of 6 of us. Our waitress came over and we placed our drink orders, once they came, we told her we were ready to place our meal orders, we winded up assorted tapas and we told her to stagger them, not to have them all come out at the same time, BUT needless to say they ALL CAME OUT TOGETHER, which was frustrating because it was A LOT and the tables are small to hold the plates. Don't know if she didn't understand what the word "staggering" meant or she just didn't write it down that they all came out. We had to tell them to take some of the plates back until we're ready to eat and if they saw how packed the tables were for all the plates. It was pretty ridiculous that they didn't notice that they couldn't see how much food we had and didn't use common sense it just letting the food come out little by little; and as for the drinks, we were done with the 1st round and we had to signal to our waitress to come back and give us another round. If she was a bit more attentive and used common sense, we would've gotten more drinks and stayed a bit longer but the service SUCKED. If you decide to go, please be prepared and patient with the customer service and to be signaling to your waitress if you want more drinks. Pretty sad, such a beautiful dark place and great food that the service was pretty bad. read more

My experience at Tin Marín Tapas in Riverdale was great. The staff was friendly and attentive. For starters we tried the margaritas on the happy hour menu I'm always skeptical when it come all happy hour drinks but there actually surprised me the taste and presentation were on point. We also had some appetizers, we had the empanadas and the croquet as de pescado meaning fish. The texture was perfect, and they were cooked just right the flavors were soo good. I wasn't to found of the options for the main entrees it was very limited only like 5 option and the paellas. The food looks delicious however it just wasn't what I wanted that day. Overall, this place is a definite win. Great food, solid service, and a lively but intimate atmosphere. I'd absolutely recommend it and would come back. read more

However, it was a little uncomfortable sitting at a slope, but that's new york for ya. the bread and garlicky olive oil dip was so good, we asked for seconds. the bread could have been warmer though. we ordered the mofonguitos with chicken, papas bravas for the table. the sauce was fantastic with the mofongo. the papas bravas were thick sliced fried potatoes with a giant dollop of this spicy aioli on top, absolutely order these! for my main, i had the churrasco with mashed potatoes, i'd give it a 7.5/10. the steak was perfectly cooked but their chimichurri was where they lost me. it was too chunky for my taste, very light in color and full of garlic. don't get me wrong, I prefer a more olive oil based with lots of herbs and garlic. i'm a garlic girl but i like my chimichurri the way i like it! read more

Large plates - Stick to the salmon and paella. Both are super tasty! A friend of ours loves the steak, which I think is good but not as spectacular as the ones I mentioned. Drinks - These are strong here!! You can't go wrong with any of them. As for the ambiance, it's dark and quaint inside and great for either a date night or a smaller group gathering. Tin Marin is a nice escape from the city even though it is in the city. By that I mean that whether you go to the bar or to the tables, because of how spacious the restaurant is, it feels as if you've escaped the hustle and bustle of the fast-paced New York City life. The food is very good as are the drinks. The waiters and waitresses are impressive and hospitable. Most of the bartenders share those same qualities. They recently expanded the dining area which contributes to the aforementioned spaciousness of the restaurant. You never feel like you're cramped. Last week I saw an excellent musical performance that added to the unique ambiance of the restaurant. I've met the owners, and they run a tight ship, assuring the best of service to their customers. I've eaten at Tin Marin several times and the food and cocktails are very good, but I won't go back. The sound system is so loud and bass heavy, we could not hear or even identify the actual music and it was impossible to have a conversation. The entire place rumbled and shook--every time I leaned an elbow on the table, the reverberations moved through my arms, and I could feel the bass thrumming powerfully in my chest for the entire meal. It was such an assault on the senses. Before we left, a live band was setting up. I understand the need to do a mic check, but it was done so loudly, and with no recognition that some 50 people were sitting there having dinner. And their amps were very bass heavy as well. It's got such great food with large portions and more than fair prices, the service is attentive and nice, and the space is warm and lively with everything being extremely inviting! Girl Scout Cookies delivery spot! The plan to meet at a halfway spot, had us decided on Tin Marin. The restaurant is so much smaller than I expected. My impression from the photos viewed on Yelp appeared to make the restaurant seem larger. In this case size doesn't matter, as this woodsy, crystally decorated Tapas gem of a restaurant, makes up in ambiance and an ample selection of tapas, enticing enough to keep one satisfied. Comfortable bar seating, with accommodating staff to create your off menu drink requests. Outdoor, sidewalk seating is available to tackle the prime time patrons taking advantage of their Happy Hour specials. Parking is challenging in the area, so patience is required. This one issue of parking still makes it worth the trip back to Tin Marin for a repeat visit in future. read more

The waiters and all staff were extremely polite, friendly, professional and service was perfect!!! There was a gentleman that seemed like the owner or manager, that made us feel welcomed right away and like we were long long friends. Food was excellent, I really didn't expect all plates to be so delicious. Every plate was made from perfection, starters and entrees as well. Dessert was even better than the food and that says a lot!!! I really enjoyed my time here. Although there was a long wait, (cause they were not really making reservations, it was a first come first serve kind of system), we NEVER felt rushed to empty our tables. We finished eating and drinking and stayed for the live band for about an hour more, and they never suggested we had to leave or brought the bill like they do at some other places. I came here on a recommendation from my Uber driver and was not disappointed. Arrived at 2:00 p.m. when they opened, no reservation necessary. My party of five leisurely dined and drank for about four hours. We ordered a variety of items: baked portobello mushroom with goat cheese, seafood paella, shrimp mofonguito, canastitas de bacalao. The food was excellent! The canastitas de bacalao were my absolute favorite dish. I wouldn't get the paella again though. No one in my party liked it and the taste was a bit off. The first thing I noticed was that the rice was gummy and I wanted to add black pepper for flavor. One of my dining companions said the fish had a "fishy taste" and was "too chewy". Oh, and the olive oil for dipping the bread was the best I've ever tasted! It had to be a homemade concoction because it was more than just oil. It was absolutely delicious. The drinks were 10/10! We were right on time for happy hour and had about fifteen tamarind margaritas between us. Each one was a hit. The bartender was very good at her job. I love the atmosphere and that we were allowed to sit without being rushed. Our server was attentive from the minute we walked in. Light music playing in the background was great and didn't interfere with having a conversation. I can't tell you what was being played. Like I said, fifteen margaritas between us.
