Mixed board with aged meats and cheeses.
    Chris S.

I have a new favorite restaurant! Out of pure happenstance I ended up at this lovely restaurant and it was a transformative experience. Carlos the owner helped guide us on a wonderful unforgettable culinary adventure that was both eye opening and a delightful sensory trip. There were fantastic aged meats and cheeses from Spain unlike any I've ever had. Tender fresh pulpo that almost melts in your mouth. Croquetas that you'll never forget. Many others! You owe it to yourself to try this fantastic authentic culinary taste of real tapas cuisine from Spain and leave all the counterfeit tapas alone!

Tiny gem on Mamaroneck Avenue where the owner greets and serves guests as if you're in his home. Great tapas; patatas bravas and garlic soup were our favorites. The sangria was tasty and not too sweet; the paella was pretty good. The ingredients are fresh and the atmosphere is cozy and warm.

I fell in love with this place. I felt so good and soulful there, delicious wine, delicious food, beautiful interior and dishes. I definitely recommend this place and we will definitely go back there. Thank you for such a beautiful place and a piece of Spain. It's hard for me to say anything about the food as we enjoyed everything, but the Spanish tortilla hit the spot.

Cute little restaurant that serves some great and authentic Spanish food. The ambiance was nice ambience tho we chose to sit outside. The prices were reasonable. Parking was a bit difficult but dont be discoured. This place is a real gem.

This place looked like an authentic Spanish Tapas restaurant. The chef/ owner comes out to greet you. We had kind of mixed results with our dinner. The croquettes were melt in your mouth delicious. The Gambas an ajillo, shrimp in garlic oil was incredibly tender with spicy herbs. One of the better dishes I've had in a long time. But then we weren't crazy about the meatballs with almonds and white wine sauce. There was a sweet ingredient in there somewhere that we didn't care for. Also tried the paella and it was kind of bland. The seafood and chicken in it were not very tender, maybe overcooked? I'd go back again but definitely a little hit or miss with the food.

WOW! We were looking to try something in Mamaroneck-about 15 minutes from our home. We both love Tapas and have tried a number of restaurants that specialize in Tapas. This place feels so warm and personable--almost like being at someone's home in Madrid. The server gave us an introduction to the menu and then shortly after, the Chef/Owner gave us a more detailed description of the Tapas. It was a flavorful combination of Chef recipes and unique tapas that are not just from Barcelona area, for example. Everything that we tried was a standout. My only recommendation is to add more and slightly larger cheese slices to your mixed plate--there was more meat on it. Desserts were great. I only wish there was something cold like Spanish ice cream. I have a big sweet tooth!

This review is a compilation of multiple visits to Tentempie. This is the hottest new restaurant on the avenue in Mamaroneck. If you love wine (who doesn't) and you love small plates you must come for dinner! All of the dishes are fresh and delicious. First, the seating is simple and if you want to dine on the weekend i highly recommend you make reservations. Otherwise, it's standing room only. The restaurant is cozy and smells so good. It's run by Carlos and Fiorella and they make an awesome team of service and hospitality. I have ordered all of the hot tapas and my favorite is the Gambas al ajillo (shrimp). They are to die for. If you've ever spent time in Spain you will also love the Chef Carlos' spin on Pan con tomate. I can go on and on about all of the food; I'm sure that's the point of Yelp, but if you like tapas and wine, you cannot go wrong. Be sure to have the mixed board of aged meats and cheeses, simply divine. We are very happy to have some diversity of flavor on the avenue. I have recommended Tentempie Madrid to multiple friends to hear back how much they loved it.

The new gem of Mamaroneck Ave! Also, happy I discovered it first and dreading the future when it's packed and I can't in. I have a feeling this place will go through some growing pains. Limited seating and minimal staff will probably bring long wait times... but the food is so worth it! Definitely coming back. It may give Smokehouse a run for its money as my regular lineup on the Avenue. Also, prices very good. Wine good. Excited and hopeful to see their growth!

    Drinks before dinner date!

The bar in the front was busy but the dining room was pretty empty so we were able to choose our table. First thing that stood out to me was the cute vibes of the place. The art work on the walls and different backdrops- great for a photo session. We were given two paper menus and an iPad with photos of the food. That was pretty cool, especially for someone like me who likes to see photos of the food I'm eating before I even choose a restaurant. Service was fine and staff were friendly however the wait time for our food especially in an empty dining room took a while. Now, the food was AMAZING. We ordered Cuba Tabaco y Ron (Latino eggrolls) as an app - SO good. We got a Lomo Sushi Roll to share, which was tasty. I got the Roasted Pernil and my husband got the Honey Glazed Salmon. Both were delicious and filling. Would definitely check this place out if you enjoy Latin fusion food. It's such a cute and romantic place. I will say I got a headache from the red lights above us, I wish there would have been more clear lighting at the table but regardless this is a place to check out.

It's a very casual, cafeteria-style spot with a semi-open kitchen, but don't let the simplicity fool you -- the food is incredible and the staff here is friendly and patient. The highlight of the experience is the small buffet that features a variety of freshly-made Latin cuisine -- including pulled pork, chicken and beef stews, and other traditional Latin entrees and sides. You can build your own plate by selecting one or more entrees and sides - which are priced accordingly. As a 'gringo' who wasn't entirely sure what everything was, I really appreciated them taking the extra time to explain all the different options and give me their honest recommendations. The counterstaff is bilingual and were pretty patient with my elementary school level Spanish vocabulary and grammar. I ended up going with the pulled pork platter with two sides ($7) and it was terrific -- the perfectly seasoned and tender pork, black beans and rice, and macaroni salad were delicious and very filling. You can tell they use fresh ingredients, and the portions are very generous for the price. If you're looking for authentic, home-style Latino food in a laid-back setting, this is the spot! PRO TIP #1: Bring a bottle of wine or beer from home to enjoy with your meal. Sazon Latino is a BYOB establishment and does not serve alcohol. PRO TIP #2: Sazon Latino offers free off-street parking in a small lot behind the restaurant and there's plenty of free on-street parking on Main Street.

The 3 Peruvian restaurants within a few blocks of each other in this section of Mamaroneck, all run lunch specials of the day. We call up before ordering to find out what they are serving and round up orders around the office. My office mate is Peruvian and speaks Spanish, so he gets the duty to call in the order (make sure it's correct) and a bunch of us will cruise down there for pick-up. We've tried the delivery service, but it's too inconsistent, so I'd rather be the master of my own destiny and drive there myself to pick up our order. The daily lunch specials (~$13) rotate depending on the day with choices of pollo a la brasa (rotisserie chicken), beef or chicken stew, fried pork chop and one of our favorites, lomo saltado (beef, onions, peppers & french fries). Each lunch order comes with 1-2 side dishes like rice, french fries, fried yucca or salad and a pint of soup, usually chicken or pork. The owner is very nice and sometimes if we place a large order, he'll throw in a few free drinks. Man, It's getting close to lunchtime and I'm getting really hungry!
